Just Rooted my second Thunderbolt, flashed clockwork mod recovery, installed CM7 Kernel didn't backup (FML), and now just keeps rebooting over and over. Please HELP!
You flashed an AOSP kernel on a stock sense ROM?
Yep! Not sure what I was thinking. Was in too much of a hurry. What can I do?

That's what it sounds like you did. You're going to have to flash a SENSE kernel, not an AOSP one. Hopefully you have no PG015img.zip file on your SD card's root so you can boot into recovery.
If you do have a PG015img.zip on your sd card root, you're going to need to delete it before you can get into recovery. (The bootloader automatically tries to flash the file, and wont let you boot into recovery). You can do it by either using an sd card reader or someone else's phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081930 Go here and download a Froyo sense kernel, then boot into the bootloader (Powered off, hold Volume down and power) Then boot into recovery. From there, you should be able to mount your sd card from clockworks "Mounts and Storage" option. Put the kernel in whatever folder of choice, then unmount the sd card. "Install zip from sd card", "Choose zip from sd card", select the folder, than the .zip file. Flash, then you should be good to go.
I'm assuming that you didn't do a backup, which you should always do!, if you did, then you can just restore the back up from the "restore" option.
Fixed! Thanks for the quick respones!
Did exactly what you said. Running Tesla coil. Everything seems fine.

Hi,
I just picked up my tablet yesterday, but am unable to install the clockwork mod. I followed the instructions in the guide thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
It is not loading the clockwork mod. I see the "Detect a recovery key pressed", see a black screen with nothing but the word "android" and then I see a large warning triangle before the system boots into the normal interface.
Could this be due to a recent change in their firmware that is shipped? Could I be missing something here? I create the folder in my removable compact sd card and copy the recovery.zip file there.
Please help, I do not want this tablet if it is to stay in the stock state....
Found out why!
I didn't extract the zip file. I simply renamed it. Stupid stupid stupid....
I hope that if anyone else here had that issue they will see this.

I started making .rar files now, just to try to make that more clear. Don't worry, I've done the same thing and I created the zip file! :O
My files are usually like this because I need to put the recovery folder in there, for non-clockworkmod users.
I'm having the same problem, However I did extract the files correctly like stated and didn't rename anything. However, I still getting the screens like you described in your post. Any ideas?
What is it doing

update.zip should be in the root of the card...then in a folder called recovery should b a file called command

I am having the same issues. Running the TNT 3316 build. When trying to install the Google apps pr clockwork mod it says recovery key pressed then loading recovery kernel. then it loads a screen with a status bar and quickly reboots without changing any files. I rooted with z4 root and a sideloaded root explorer works and mounts system. any ideas?
I had the same problem and spent hours on it. Originally I used a 16gb microscope card and didn't work...then I switched to an 8gb and it worked...probably has to do with the micro SD card size. Also, press vol. Up fret followed by power and release power when viewsonic start screen comes on. Then release volume button when upper left sentence comes on
When I had the same problem it was due to recovery/command in the cwmod_v08.zip looking for update.zip at /sdcard2/ and I had copied the files over USB so they ended up at /sdcard/.
Another thing to try (I have had to do this occasionally when CW won't install), in the settings menu under the security tab, do a factory reset. It doesn't lose my settings but clears up whatever is keeping CW from installing. Once I do a factory reset then the install works flawlessly. Hope this helps someone.
Thanks

I'm having the same exact issue. 16GB SD card getting same results; can't get into clockwork mod, get recovery kernel instead. I don't know why it should have anything to do with size of SD card, but I'll try it since you had success. Thanks.

I'm using a 16gb sdcard and it works fine. Make sure when you unzip the clockwork 0.8 file that you place it on the root of the sdcard and make sure the command file in the recovery folder is pointing to the sdcard you want to use.....if the line in the command file is "SDCARD2" then either change it to "SDCARD" and use the internal sdcard card or use the external sdcard.
SDCARD
/sdcard/update.zip
/sdcard/recovery/command
SDCARD2
/sdcard2/update.zip
/sdcard2/recovery/command
Make sure the command file is there. It deletes the first time you try to install
Thanks. That was totally the problem. Need to factory reset, because the settings that the gtablet is shipped with are not the default.
I am having a similar problem with not being able to install CWM on my gTablet.
I upgraded from bootloader 1.1 to 1.2 and I am currently running this (from About Tablet):
Model Number UPC300-2.2
Android OS version 2.2
Tap UI version 1.2-4349
Kernel version [email protected] #1
Build Number FRF91
I would like to flash the Flashback 10.1 ROM but for some reason I can't get ClockworkMod back.
After I do a nvflash I attempt to go into recovery. There I will see the stock recovery with only limited options.
I copied the CWM 0.8 recovery folder and upgrade.zip to the root of the sd card.
Then when I reboot into recovery I get " Recovery key detected" and "Booting recovery kernel image" It will just sit there like that.
So I tried to just flash the rom file as update.zip and I get back into the stock Android system recovery <e3>
Options:
System Reboot
Apply Internal update.zip
Apply external update.zip
Wipe Data/Factory reset
Wipe cahce partition
Calibrate Touch panel
below that I am now getting this:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk2
(No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD2:recovery/command
I am getting very confused :-(

i'm having a similar issue with trying to install cwm, bc1.3.1 update, flashback, etc, without nvflashing back to stock viewsonic rom....
just get the "booting recovery kernal image" line ad infinitum
i even just used nvflash to install cwm (which appeared to go properly) and when trying to get into recovery it still just does the same thing, sits at that second line...

I think I might have figured it out. I flashed the nvflash with this from here: http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/nvflash.htm
nvflash with clockworkmod 1.2 branch.
Then I booted into that stock ROM
went to USB and deleted everything off the sdcard.
copied calkulin's format all and the flashback 10 ROM to sdcard
turned off device
booted into recovery, now CWM
flash calkulin's format all
flash ROM
Reboot
voila
hope this helps

yes, I copied everything to my PC first of course but then deleted everything except for the recovery folder and my download folder where I had some ROM files etc.

I am trying to flash zip files from my SD card in cmw.. I go to choose zip from sd then after choose external_sd/ when i choose it, it does absolutely nothing( I hit the home button and it says no file exists but i know the files are there). I also manually mounted the SD... I was originally trying to do the fix speaker sound.. But due to the fact i could not get the sd to read, i did it from the internal memory. Now i cannot use my phone app at all it just crashes. I now want to flash a new rom on to fix the issue, but as i said i can't flash the zip from the SD. If anyone can give me some assistance it would be greatly appreciated.
For flashing Roms you ALWAYS put them on your sdcard WHICH IS THE INTERNAL UNREMOVEABLE SDCARD. Your external sdcard on Samsung roms is called external_SD and in cm7 it is called emmc. On stock based roms (Samsung roms) you will always have to put the files on the sdcard NOT the external removeable sdcard.

Sounds like you already have a rom installed. Which one? Or are you still on stock? If stock, you can't flash from stock 3e recovery.
Assuming you have CWM Recovery, put the flashable zip on the root of the internal sdcard *not* the external sdcard, and not in any directory. If your directory structure on the sdcard is fairly long, the files may be hidden at the bottom, and you will have to scroll down to see them. Use the vol+ button to scroll in the up direction is easiest. Then you should be able to install the rom by selecting "install zip from sdcard" and then "choose zip from sdcard". Do not use "choose zip from internal sdcard".
I am running a stock rom rooted.. I was falling a sleep while typing it.. I ment I was trying to choose the rom in CWM.. I saved the ROM on my external SD so i can try to pull the file and flash my phone to it.. What i am saying is when i go to pick the ZIP under in CWM i can't access it. As i wrote in my original post
If you have stock rom plus root by Entropy512, then the kernel is straight stock with 3e recovery, and you can not flash a rom from 3e recovery. You will need to install a kernel which contains ClockworkMod Recovery first. See the guide linked in my signature for detailed instructions on how to do that.
And go back and read both RockRatt's post and my previous post, to learn that you can not install a rom from the external sd card. And you should spend some time reading in general, so you have a basic understanding of what you are doing. And then do some more reading.

Why is it so difficult to put the zipfile on internal sdcard for flashing purposes,
then after flashing using a file manager simply move the zipfile to external sdcard?
Of course if you were using CWM Manager you would not have the
problem in the first place, CWM Manager (apk) can be downloaded
here: http://megaupload.com/?d=TGXMLL1G it is fully compatible with
CWM recovery but you do not need to go into recovery mode.
With this app you will have access to external sdcard with no problem.
It has most of the same options and features as you would see in Rom
Manager but it's fully compatible with our phones and flashable zipfile
roms, kernels, modems and mods. (it even installs apps )apk).
This is a perfect solution to backup and restore roms too.
(fully CWM compatible Nandroid with option to name the backup)
Check it out!
I'm having some trouble right now.. I rooted my phone, I put Hellybean onto my microsd card. I booted to android system recovery > reinstall packages, and then i deleted cache, formatted system, deleted the other cache etc.
I tried to find the hellybean zip on my microsd card but it was no where to be found.. So I rebooted my phone and now I have no OS, and when I boot into recovery and go to reinstall packages to try and get back to clockwork mod recovery menu it's not there either (assuming I'm missing the files to go there now).
What can I do guys? Do I need to get 2.3 back on here again and redo everything.. when I get back to where I'm going to flash the hellybean rom how do I find the file on my sd card? I went to SD folder and it wasn't there but I checked my sd card and it is there on the computer.
The ROM zip needs to be on your internal storage.
Mount on your PC, if your internal storage shows move ROM there with update.zip for Clockwork Mod.
Reinstall packages and once in cwm you'll be able to install HB from the zip.
If you can't see internal storage I'd Odin back to stock and then try again.

Sorry I didn't understand what you meant in the beginning. Mount on your pc? Explain a little?
If that doesn't work how do I use Odin to flash back to stock, what do I need to do, i don't need a full detailed guide but just what files and what buttons to press on odin.
There are lots of very detailed Odin guides. Look around. I wasn't real clear at first if you could get in CWM recovery. If you could, then you could Mount Storage and your PC would have seen the internal storage, thus allowing you to put the ROM.zip on it..
Look in the stickies for Odin guide. They are easy to follow. I'd tell you how to do it, but if you read it yourself you'll understand what your doing, and it will help you in the long run.

It concerns me that you said: "Do I need to get 2.3 back on here again"
The t959 never received an official 2.3 update. Does your device have a front facing camera? If so you have the t959v which is a very different device and is in a different section on xda.

But also make sure you are using the Vibrant and flashing roms for it, not the S 4G.
I first tried to root the phone. I succeeded. The I installed RR and it got stuck in bootloop. Basically after half an hour it was still on the Resurrection Remix Logo. So then I remembered I forgot to format the phone first.
So I formatted everything except my SD card.
So now when I press "-Choose zip from sdcard" it says No Files found. I assume this is the internal memory because when I take the micro SD card out it has the rom on it and has not been formatted.
Now heres the issue.
When I press "- choose zip from internal sdcard" it says "E:Can't mount /emmc/" which I assume is the micro SD card.
So naturally I went to access the internal memory via USB.
But the Phone is not showing up as a drive.
So I am quite literally stuck.
Many Thanks to all who reply!

Are you sure that you have formatted the internal sd card?
Why?
Wipe data (factory reset) would have been enough IMO.
So you might have to flash a whole ROM again to your phone by using PC version of Odin.
Maybe use a stock ROM which usually come as Odin-flashable tar/md5 files.
Here you can find pre-rooted stock ROMs => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608071
After flashing this, your phone should boot again and is already rooted.
Then you can flash PhilZ-cwm6 kernel from here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270.
Use the zip file and flash it like described in stock recovery.
Then you have CWM recovery.
Now you can wipe data and flash your custom ROM.
Good luck !

I tried to change recovery myself but that didn't help at all.
I eventually managed to solved it by sifting through my stash of micro sd cards and eventually one of them worked.
Thanks a lot for your long response!
First the pertinent info.
Nook Tablet 16gb
Cyanoboot installed
CWM 6.0.1.9
No errors in log when I start CWM.
I had megadh00t's Cherrypicks rom installed, the 11/07 edition
I decided to update.
It worked fine. Full wipe. EXCEPT, wifi wouldn't turn on.
I went back into CWM. Wiped everything again. But I made a mistake
I wiped the ROM partition. I know better, but I did. Tired I guess.
Now goes right into recovery every time.
Any way to fix this or do I have to total wipe?
And if I do, I repartitioned the nook as well, so would I have to first repartition it back to default, then total wipe, root, cwm, then install the ROM?
Plus, I am 5 touched, so would it even work to go to the regular nook software? Am I looking at a perma brick because of the 5touch?
Thanks for the info and any help you can give me!
If it will boot off an SD card, make a cm10 SD card. Once in cm10 flash back to stock touch firmware
Sent from my NT running CM10
You can find the easiest way to make a CM10 SD card here.
So as soon as it goes to Cyanoboot, it begins to load Recovery from emmc. I have no menu choices. Any ideas? I made a CWM recovery card first, but it never even gets there.
Sounds like you booted straight into emmc.
To boot from SDcard (assuming that it has bootable boot partition and requisite set of files MLO/u-boot.bin/flashing_boot.img/boot.img/recovery.img -- e.g., from here) first power off the NT, then insert a powered-usb cable. When Cyanoboot comes up, hold the N button for boot menu, then select SDC Recovery. If you have a ROM zip on the card you can flash it with option "install zip from sdcard".
Found out what the problem with booting was.... no boot and lba flags on the card.
Got it to boot, tried to install ROM, but cyanoboot still goes direct to emmc recovery.
Looks like I am going to have to go the long route.
I know that I have to flash back to 2 touch to even begin the process, but now I have to figure out how to change the recovery ROM from
this post into an SD bootable one and see if it works. If it does (and I can figure it out) I will then start over from the beginning
Too bad because it looks like my partition table is absolutely fine. No errors at all. Bummer.

New post because completely separate from previous.
In a bizarre turn of events, I CAN boot from the internal emmc, but only with a SD boot card that I created trying to reflash my 5 touch firmware back to the 2 touch firmware.
Here is my question.
I would obviously not like to use this workaround of having the SDcard in, booting from cyanoboot into the INT emmc.
Is there any way to replace the internal cyanoboot or reset it somehow so that it doesn't automatically boot into recovery every time? Then I wouldn't need the SD card, and to go through the long and drawn out process of getting my nook back into shape
Thanks!
