I purchased a Motorolla Atrix 4G from eking (a local online store in NZ that seems to have now gone out of business) a couple of months back.
It is a AT&T phone. They have purchased it in the US, and sent to Hong Kong to be ROMed with the HK software rather than using a unlock code. I found this out when I rang them about something else. My problem is that this leaves me in a situation where I don't know exactly what they have done to the phone.
Today I got a message on the phone saying that a system update was available, I assume that this is the gingerbread update that just came out and have read about.
Does anyone know how to tell if it is safe to upgrade? Eking are being douches when I email them saying "I think you’ll have to do the update manually if you want, it won’t work with the automatic update from the moto website. Please be aware there’s risks updating your phone, it might cause system failure"
Model number: MB860
System version: Version4.1.83.MB860.ATT.en.US
Let me know if there are further specs you need to help me out.

I like most of the people want a Droid Razr, I also prefer being on AT&T instead of Verizon and know that a global version of this phone is available. Two big things that always seem to stop me from buying an unlocked phone for use on AT&T is that you don't get OTA updates or a manufactures warranty.
Just wondering if anyone has heard of this coming to AT&T like the original Razr's or if there is anyway to receive OTA updates and some type of warranty while using the phone with AT&T.
Anyone else planning on using this in the States on AT&T?
there is a warranty.
if u have bought it in the UK or any other county, and if u found any defects, u can send back ur device to the shop (i think u will need to contact them before doing it) via mail. they will fix it or just replace and send back to u.
but u will have to pay all tranfer fees (round trip)
you will be able to use the Rogers version from Canada. They use the same bands as AT&T. Will just need to get the phone unlocked.
How would I make te purchase from Rogers? Still no OTA though and definitely no warranty if purchased from Rogers right?
It's taking longer than I had hoped for AT&T
I'm coming from an iPhone background, and noticed at least one thing for concern. If you have an extensive music library, you'll notice that your music needs to be streamed from the cloud if it won't fit on the device.
I purchased the unlocked version from Austrailia, which so far, is compatible with AT&T. The only problem I've had is that text messages appear on the iPhone, rather than on the Droid, regardless of where the SIM card is.
This is old so you may have figured out by now, but did you make sure that iMessage is turned off on the iPhone.
Hey everyone, sorry if this has cropped up previously but I've searched to no avail and no one from Microsoft has an answer either.
I've got a new HTC Titan sitting here, completely unused. I won it at the Windows Phone Inner Circle event in Denver weeks before the device's US launch, but I still haven't switched over. This is because the device is a UK phone. The phone does not appear to have any US settings at all, is unlocked, and even comes with a UK plug instead of a US one. Presumably, this is because I won the device before the US version was ready for release.
The issue is that even when I switch my region settings over to "English (US)", nothing actually changes on the phone when it restarts...everything is still English (UK). For example, "synchronising", "favourites", "colour", etc. At first I thought that this wasn't a big deal, but it might be if other region settings persist. So I have three related questions that I'd love to find out:
If/when a custom bootloader is released for the Titan, can I use it to flash a US ROM to my device?
I have to switch carriers to AT&T in order to fully use the Titan (hence my hesitation), but will bringing the phone to AT&T and letting them activate it have a chance of loading US settings onto the phone? I know that will load AT&T app marketplace options, which is why I was curious.
Most importantly, even if none of this can possibly change, will I at all be restricted by UK region restrictions for Zune, Marketplace, etc.? I have a US-based Zune and WLID account, but this is my main concern because of the phone's region.
If anyone can share some insights on this, I'd really appreciate it.

1. US ROM must be considered. Because the AT&T version Does use the different Chips for different Radio version. It might get the phone bricked. The Goldcard tecnique is not available on Titan, so Official AT&T Rom to flash on the phone is nearly impossible. It need to be done by 3rd party.
2. No. Your Live ID will determine which content you can access. Don't ask why people at Asia can still submit and buys apps that are for US only.
3. The region of the phone could be changed, but not the agent inside. So, don't be surprise that you have the English voice comeout from Tellme and Turn-by-Turn navigation from Bing maps doesn't work at US. You can change, the Region Format, System Locale and Browser &Search Language to English (United States) but it can't change the fact, that this phone is built for Europe user. I will ask HTC if they can bring the custom language pack (if possible) to Windows Phone. I am still talking to HTC Tech Support about this.
I contacted HTC Support several times and they didn't give me any solution (apart from doing a deadly mistake of telling me to search the Android Market for an application :S)!!
I'm still hoping we find a different ROM to flash. Is there an Australian version maybe floating around? I'm dying to use voice navigation and Tellme (which doesn't understand anything when set to English UK).
Thanks for the replies...starting to think maybe I should just sell the thing and use the money to buy a US Titan - especially due to the points about navigation and TellMe. Of course, I'd probably want to sell it to someone in the UK so no one else has region problems. Maybe I'll start looking into that.
In the meantime, if any encouraging news pops up about this, let me know

How much do you want?
Hi guys I'm new here so please be patient.
I received the phone as a present from my friend and I was pretty satisfied with the fast performance although I am definitively lacking tech knowledge about phones. As far as I am aware it was brought over ebay from Honk Kong, everything seems good apart from when there's an update it says something... abort it reboots and a message appears ota package failed to install. I did some reading and this forum was recommended however I get lost with the slang and tech talk here therefore if there is anyone who would like to help me as if they were explaining this to a kid I would be grateful. I called UK lenovo helpline and they refused to help me as my phone has overseas warranty and was not purchased in UK. I asked people on lenovo facebook official site and send a email question to lenovo as well but still no answer. I have handed in my phone to high street phone help service but they've charged me 30 pounds but did not do anything. As far as I am aware previous updates were fine then issue accrued, I did factory restart but it did not solve the issue.
Can you help a blondie ? x

Hi all ---first post---need some help.
----Sorry in advance for any Newbness.
I bought my LG G5 on Kijiji----was originally from Bell---had it unlocked to use on Rogers and was working fine.
5 days later, the phone was not connecting to the Rogers network---I called Rogers and was advised that my IMEI was blacklisted/Stolen phone.
Scrambling for a solution, I Found someone on eBay in India who "repaired"/Changed the IMEI and the phone is now working on Rogers network again.
But When I go to check for software updates it tell me "Your phone is not registered yet"
My question is----Anyway possible way to get Rogers or Bell's Android updates on this phone?
Many thanks in advance for your help/Ideas.
Probably not OTA style, but you should be able to download the KDZ file and flash it manually.
Side note, talking about changing IMEI numbers on here is against the rules i think.
IMHO Sounds like the guy who you bought it from reported it stolen in order to get another phone for cheap.. you could just try calling Bell, plead your case and they might be able to reverse the blacklist.. you might have to prove you purchased it tho, so any communications between you and the seller will help.
Hello All!
I am fairly new to the site, and not too tech savvy, but I'm having some problems with my Verizon LG V10 I bought about 3 months ago.
I bought the unit from eBay for 300 dollars in new condition (a steal if you ask me), and it's been working great, but I have been having issues updating my phone.
I am aware that Marshmallow is out for the V10 on Verizon, yet whenever I click on check for updates, it always says no upgrade is available.
As most of you probably know, Verizon phones are unlocked, and I am using an H20 sim card, putting the phone in international mode. My question is that I'm wondering if that is the problem, or is there something else?
Thanks for your help
I thought all the V10's shipped with Marshmallow.

They actually don't.
I bought this one off of ebay, and it came with 5.1.1
I even tried the Verizon Software Updater, and thought I had it, only to find out that nothing changed, I really want to get a hold of the battery life optimization in Marshmallow
You won't get Verizon updates on another network or outside North America.
Download the kdz and upgrade it yourself
please provide kdz file working link, nowhere i can find it.
