Nice article!!! I just got my MoPho today as well... I had an HTC Sensation for 8 days and returned to try something else. Let's see how it goes with the Photon.
I ordered mine as well yesterday so I should have it by friday

Nice write up. I traded my EVO 3d about 24 hours ago for a Mo-Pho. I had my e o 3d for about 2 months and it was a great toy and that's about it.

I, also, came from a 3 devo.
Phone sucked, did everything except be (gasp!) a phone.
Have this MoPho at HoJo walkin' in tall grass with the big boys :þ
Quadrants about ~2500-2600 and I was just downloading a *koff koff* linux distro with it at 1.1 Mbit tethered to my lappy (seriously 1.1 freakin megabits or about 1300 kbps).

Easy question guys, what phone do you have and will get replace by the evo and why?
I currently have a HTC evo since launch date and I'm getting this phone to support HTC and Sprint to come out with top of the lines phone like the evo and hoping the pictures quaility is better ( MP don't mean anything if the sensor ain't good) and looking fowaed to take some 3d videos of my son and family to share

I'm coming from an overclocked, hombrewed, patched and tired palm pre. I just hope this thing lasts before the evo 3d comes out! The homebrew community is the only thing that has made two years with this phone even remotely bearable...

I made the line the first day the evo was launched, and I'm pretty sure I will do it again. My phone was available for a contract renewal, and I hope mi wife's will be ready too when they launch it. Today my 5 lines plan all are evos, so I think in about 6 months, my account will have 5 evo 3ds, lol.
I went to CTIA and saw it trough the glass they are showing it. Seriously, I can't wait to have that piece of device in my hands.

Feels good to be back with an HTC phone. Had the OG EVO and went to Samsung for the Nexus S 4G and have had it since release day until today. Picked up a 3D off craigslist for $175. Couldn't stand the radio on the Nexus. Kept it just to see what Ice Cream Sandwich looks like. Feels good to be back!!!!!

Sold my evo3d and im on a photon, I miss the evo3d but now have an opportunity to get the sgs2 from a friend signing up for sprint. So I have my pick from any phone at store price, she can't afford the smart phones to shell get my photon.. Decisions decisions! Im half tempted to get the white evo3d. Reading a lot of threads the sgs2 seems like....well another Samsung pos.

Same typical Samsung flaws you'd expect, wonky GPS, grainy screen, cheap feeling. One good thing, the rooting and recovery flashinglooks like a piece of cake. Ill get one anyway if I don't like it I'm sure someone on Craigslist will be willing to trade for an EVO 3d.

Yup , that's right , Idk what's up with Samsung but their gps always have fail for me, oh well I ma wait to see for the holidays , I am jot getting a non qHD phone , it just looks weird after you have the EVO 3d and go back to the the regular resolution

Same story here. Evo 4G to Nexus S 4G to Motorola Photon and once I realized how terrible the development on the Photon was I traded for a 3d and am so happy to be back with HTC! You guys rock!

I had a photon also. Everything about the phone was 5 Star EXCEPT the Display. That alone made me put it back on craigslist..... Not enough colors.

That's what i am thinking. It will probably take a while for us to get a build of it. Do you think with google aquiring Moto Mobility we might get an OS update a bit sooner? I'm sure devs at motorola already have a copy of ICS to mess around with.
Well I was referring to the battery and data manager. These phones are vanilla android with a few moto tweeks unlike the competitors.
We would most likely get updates faster unless moto decides to hold **** back. Compared to the epic(which a majority of us came from) we have gotten a metric ton of updates within this 2 month time frame

I am very happy with my mopho running GB 2.3.4, a lot better than my old nexus s 4g with 2.3.7. so at this point I can wait for ICS, I don't need it.

I was thinking the same thing, and from what I heard it a total makeover, like XP and Windows 7, so I likely would not like it anyway. Love my Photon just like it is.

It is best to say from windows vista to windows 7! IMO! And better! Windows 7 to windows 8. The only change is the UI! and I don't like.
I don't mean to hate. But the razor is now moto's baby going foward and that's means the chances of the photon getting ics before a year from now is slim to none. Zip, zerro.
The only phones getting ics quick are the nexus phones and and phones with great dev support like the evo 3d and sensation. The ports have already started on them.
The razor does look mad sexy though, I like it.

I couldn't agree more. Sammy jacked us up with broken promises on Epic Updates and jerk Epic users around for several months. Pissed me off and I ditch the Epic for this glorious piece of Machinery A.K.A Photon 4G!

As a junior developer who is getting this device (and plans to release some cool stuff), I just wanted to see if there is anyone that I might happen to know already in this Forum that I could work with. None-the-less, this isn't just about that, but getting to know everyone in this particular forum as well. Hopefully this will be the phone I'll keep for 2 years, I've never kept a smartphone for more than a year. Or puchased later than 3 months after initial release.
I doubt anyone will come from the LG Viper 4G LTE lol, its pretty fresh on the shelf compared to everything else on the poll.

Evo 3D most recently. I guess I didn't realize people didn't upgrade every time a new sweet phone came out. I try to just stick to HTC though, since I like Sense.

No stylus or Franken-Garnet Palm OS, the screen difference, no pulling up that dinky antenna. Jesus... You'd probably have lockjaw.

The Treo 650 was leaps and bounds better. No EvDO still but the screen was good and it had bluetooth. The keyboards were AWESOME on each.
I just want to share a 2.1 system I bought for my Apple Red EVO 4G LTE.
