HTC Desire Problem..HELP!!!! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got my desire not rooted, but running 2.3.4...I have superuser permission but busybox says not rooted. I cant seem to install from rom manger. Titanium also says not rooted. When I'm on bootloader my power and volume keys don't work.
I tried installing original stock directly from HTC's site but it keeps telling me my batterie power is below 30% when its actually full.So it cant proceed with the install. My Hboot is 0.93.0001
Any help bring my phone back would be greatly appreciated.

your desire is off or on?

Try using the optic ball to move up and down to select items in recovery?

[Q] Recovery issues in CDMA Hboot 1.5?

Hey guys I was just wondering if everyone else is having this issue or if i did something wrong on my rooting procedure?
I have a sensation but i was rooting my friend's 3d and i noticed it was different for the whole 1.5 Hboot thing. I was following a 1.4 guide for a GSM phone and noticed it wasnt working so then after noticing about the whole 1.5 hboot thing i tried the other method and it worked.
The problem is that when i go into recovery (power + Vol down at startup) i get the menu just fine i can go into fastboot or recovery. If i select recovery the phone will just reboot and boot up the ROM instead of going into recovery. Instead, i will have to use ADB to push the phone into recovery and push CWM into it.
With my sensation its just installed and i dont have to go through all of that again, what im trying to ask is if this is normal for Hboot 1.5 users to have to ADB push CWM everytime they want to access it cause im sure this can get a little annoying since i like to flash different roms and kernels constantly to test. having issues with MIUI ringtones.
No. just uncheck fastboot in menu/settings/power
You can flash roms like that if they use a stock kernel but if it has a custom kernel, it won't take. If you access recovery from adb/fastboot then you don't have to worry about that.

So if I disable fastboot then when I boot into recovery it won't restart the phone and it will actually go into CWMrecovery?

What's happening is that I installed cwm recovery through adb and I can access it but I have to go through all the trouble of Pushing it through adb where as on my sensation in just installed it once and I can boot into recovery and from the menu is just select it without having to push it through adb everytime I want to access cwm which is what is happening on my 3d.

HTC evo 3d will not install stock ruu

So here is how it all happen...i had this on metro pcs but upgraded to Epic 4G touch on metro also and now when i tried to get into recovery but will only reboot back to android os over and over when i tried to get into recovery so what i did was pretty stupid. I installed or initiated twrp recovery through hoot and i did a full wipe(when i meant full wipe i meant every option in there that i could wipe) and after that i tried rebooting the phone back but now its stuck in the HTC logo and will not go any where so i tried to install a stock ruu with unlocked 1.50 hboot but cant pass the second process of updating the ruu file, it just says checking pg86img.zip with the gold status bar all the way up then just kicks me back to the hboot option menu so im confuse and don't now what else to do. I tried 3 different shooter stock ruu but none else works or i should just sell the damn phone for really cheap(like 40-50 bucks)and let somebody deal with it.
Edit: i just relocked the hboot and now its says relocked and another word under that saying security warning but still it would not install the ruu's
Edit 2: ok got it to install the stock Rom by using the .exe instead of the zip.

One of the reasons why you couldn't get into recovery is because you forgot to turn off fastboot

tryuing factory reste with custom recovery

HI. I have a big problem... I tried flashing an OTA file with CWM recovery, and now I get to the HTC white screen with no Quitely brillant below
My hboot is unlocked and I am s-on
I could probable y access fastboot, though I cannot tell right now I cannot use it on the computer I have, but if I access fastboot I have the regular options, and the buttons works. if I choose recovey , I see a android CWM and a small bue progress bar and it reboots back to "Normal" wich is being the white HTC screen right now
I am able to access Hboot which makes me think that I can probably get out of this by flashing back my original RUU.
Pleasae tell me that i am right:
I thought of trying a factory reste to start with , but I am not sure this will work because of the recovery I installed.
My hboot is unlocked.
is it bad Doctor?:crying:
try flashing the stock recovery, then flash the ruu again.
it seems to be leading to something like this ... I'll try
And it worked!!!
I was able to relock the hboot prior to running videotron Ruu executable file. This worked like a charm... I have learned my lesson. I'll wait for my turn to be pushed. Thank you all.

no, the bootloader needs to be locked to flash any ruu file
Dude flash stock recovery relock boot loader then flash the RUU most recent one. And if your gonna unlock boot again and flash another custom recovery us 4ext its the best one in my opinion a lot of options very simple nice user interface no troubles as of yet. Plus it basically like having S-Off cause of smart flash it flashes kernels together with rom. Its 3.00$ on market or you can get it for free from internet or other apps. If anything feel free to pm me

Thanks, but right nowi'm kind of being chicken. Anyway, the OTA file came in anyway, by regular means, so my goal has been acheived.. but I'll chek it out eventually.

Kernel/root question

So a few weeks ago I soft bricked my htc one and i had a nice guy here on xda help me un brick it and it seemed like I was back to stock with no root. But when I keep trying the AT&T LTE update that I got recently I always get an error at the same spot when installing. I'm thinking I'm rooted because the kernel says "root" right in it ... Although root check says I'm not. I also get an error when rebooting after attempting the update. Help??!!!!

You cannot update if you have a custom recovery installed like twrp or cwm.
You need to restore the stock recovery. Also how did you restore back to stock RUU or something else?
Lastly before soft brick were you soff and if so did you super Cid or change anything else?

I'm trying to get in contact with the person who helped me... But i was using TWRP and i believe he had me go back to stock RUU. It was a simple process to fix. He had me download a file which took a while and then I just clicked a few buttons and it got me back to stock. I thought I would be able to do updates because I wasn't rooted but i guess I still have a custom recovery.

OTA and custom recovery never works. You're better off flashing the rooted version of the new update, and the radio.

So i have to flash updates myself and can't go back OTA updates? I've had many problems with unlocking bootloader, rooting, and flashing roms... I'm New to it and it always goes wrong somehow.

If you shutdown the phone, then hold power button down and volume button down at the same time it will boot up to the bootloader screen. What does the information on that screen show. Looking for CID number and S-Off or S-ON, Hboot version, etc. Also then with the volume rocker move to recovery and click the power button, does it load TWRP, CWM or the stock recovery?
If everything is stock you should be able to get the OTA updates.

Ok so im hoping this helps getting me on the right track to flashing roms correctly.... I soft bricked and i flashed a stock RUU like this guy does https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WWNZpaQBh8&feature=youtube_gdata_player...so i dont have TWRP and i want to know my options if i can get OTA updates or i should just stick to flashing roms....
But when i go into bootloader it reads as follows..
*Relocked*
M7_UL PVT Ship S-On RH
H boot- 1.44.0000
Radio- 4a.14.3250.13
Open DSP- V 26.120.274.0202
eMMC- boot
May, 3, 2013
and then the normal stuff.
fastboot, recovery, factory reset, sim lock, image crc, showbarcode..
When i tried getting into recovery and loading up TWRP i got the same screen with a red triangle and a red exclamation point as when i try the software update. i used to have twrp but thats before an XDA member helped me out...
What is your Cid on the boot loader screen? Should be CWS__001 (could only be changed if you were ever s-off) other than that sounds like you are stock. You could download helium backup and backup all your apps. Then download the new att ruu and upgrade that way. Restore with helium when done.

I am not seeing g the CID on bootloader screen at all... And the last thing I did was use an RUU to get me back to unbricked... So I just have to download another one? And how do i restore with helium if i dont have twrp or CWM? I've never used helium... Sorry for my noob knowledge haha

Helium you can get from the Google play store. Can be used on a stock phone.
Were you ever s-off? Did you change your cid.? It is odd that you do not see a Cid. From fastboot can you run fastboot getvar all and see if you see your Cid?

I have a pretty good idea how to use helium.... But I'm not sure if I was ever s-off or if I changed my cid... I was once rooted then bricked and then ran an RUU to get me to where I am... And i don't know what a getvar is...
