I never used my X10 as phone yet (toy for my wife to play games on) I needed droidwall and thus gingerbread.
Flashing I do without SIM because I like to be available, I think this caused me the problem described above.
I just managed (1 minute ago) to get it working while I was posting a help topic
Reboot into Xrecovery and fix permissions with SIM card in the phone and reboot, this got my SIM working (and I hope it lasts )
Lasting was short, changed [A] into [Q]
I had a FC during a call and lost service again
Who can help me figuring this out
SIM works fine in HTC, in X10 added a piece of paper in case contact is bad

weird problem try flashing ur ROM again with sim inside xperia.

I kept trying pretty much everything and decided to hop to t-mobile to get a new SIM
And voila it works, I can reboot, take battery out etc and everytime it boots we get signal
All your base are belong to xda

Where did you ever hear to flash without SIM card? SIM lock has nothing to do with flashing firmware/roms.

Where do you read that statement?
No issues with SIM lock or whatsoever.
I just kept my sim in my HTC since my xperia was just a "toy" untill GB was released, now it became a phone (with droidwall )
The issue in the end is/was that the xperia has troubles reading an "old SIM" (showing signs of usage/little scratches) while the HTC had no problem.
To find a problem you need to check all possibilities which were stated even the most unlikely

Try to flash your baseband again.
Hope it will help.

Baseband Unkown?

I got my new Vibrant, since my other bricked.
Anyway, I decided not to root or anything, and officially update to froyo using Kies mini. It worked, but I have no reception at all, and when I go to Mobile networks, it asks to "Insert a SIM card". Also under Baseband version it's unknown WTF!
Model number:
SGT-T959
Firmware version:
2.2
Baseband version:
Unknown
Build number:
FROYO.UVKA6
It's not my SIM because it works on my blackberry. I have some bad luck...

give it 10 minutes on that baseband thing
It's been two hours.
I suppose the phone would at least recognize that there is a SIM card in there, but it does not even do that. In settings under Status everything is Unknown.
Mobile network state is Disconnected and Service State is Out of service...
Try reflashing back to stock and then re-down load the 2.2
Nah, don't want to risk getting another brick. Tmobile is sending a new one with express shipping paid on their part. The phone, I just got it today, and it feels cheap, if you shake it, you can literally feel the vibration.
Thanks though.

[Q] Official Sony ICS 4.1.B.0.431 SIM-Card problems

Good morning all together,
since I updated my SK17i with the official ICS update, I have problem with my SIM card: Some times my phone tells me, that my SIM card was removed and that the phone has to be rebooted. Other times I wake up the screen an see, that it prompts me for my PIN. The phone looks like it rebooted on its own. Has anybody else of you this problems since the last update? Or is it just me an I should try a new clean install...
My config:
SK17i
4.0.4 (4.1.B.0.431)
Kernel 2.6.32.9 Stock (no root)
Unlocked Bootloader (Testpoint)
Baseband .72
Thank you for your advice.

Insert the SIM card properly. It seems that the SIM card is not tproperly inserted in it's slot.
It's probably loose, causing it to come out just a little on it's own, and then again placing itself (due to movement of the phone). That's why it is asking you the PIN again and again.
If the problem persists after insterting the SIM properly, go for a clean install. It will make things perfectly alright.
Thanks,
Rick

If SIM card doesn't stay in place or the chip part has been scratched, take new one from your operator.

Won't work with virgin mobile UK!?! HELP!

Hey,
My Samsung galaxy s2 will not receive or send any calls or texts whilst i have my contract virgin mobile UK sim in, the mobile internet still works fine though. I can use the phone with a 3 sim in even though it was locked to Vodafone when i got it, It's not a problem with the sim either, i can put in in other phones and it will work just fine.
I've tried flashing many different kernals and firmware in the hope to fix this problem but none have worked.
Some of my device info is here if its needed:
Model number: GT-I9100
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: I9100MUGKG2
Kernal version: 3.0.15-I9100XWLPT-CL941023
Build number: IMM76D.XWLPT
Thanks for any feed back!
UPDATE: Whenever i enter the call settings on the device it won't let me enter call forwarding settings and additional settings, it' comes up with the message: Network or SIM card error.

[Q] IMIE Missing

Afternoon all.
I need some help. I have been searching forums all day trying to find a solution to my problem, but I'm just getting more confused. So please, if there is someone out there that can help, I would be grateful.
Bit of background. Yesterday, my phone was working correctly and when I went to make a call later in the day I had no network. When I tried to check the network settings, it stated "Insert SIM card to access network services".
When I checked Settings>About device the Baseband version is listed at "Unknown"
I read somewhere to try *#06#, which I did and it shows IMEI/MEID "null / null"
My phone is a Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 on UK Vodafone network, the rest of the phone info is as follows:
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: Unknown
Kernel Version: 3.0.31 - 462349 [email protected] - 111 #3 SMP PREEMPT Tue Nov 6 02:42:23 KST 2023
Build Number: JZO54K.I9100XXlSJ
I have already tried the following:
1. Removed battery, waited 10 minutes, rebooted - Failed.
2. Wiped data and factory reset - Failed.
3. Installed a completely new version of 4.1.2 from HERE - Failed.
4. I have also tried my SIM card in my misses GT-I9100 and it works fine, so it's a handset issue.
I am at a loss of what else to try.
Can ANYONE help me, please!!!
Thanks in anticipation.
Pete.
If you've never 'messed with' the phone (rooted it or run non-stock firmware), send it in for warranty service if your warranty is still good. Trying something that could potentially bork that warranty & end up costing you money isn't worth it, and there's a fair chance they wouldn't work anyway unless you had an EFS backup which you wouldn't have if you've never rooted your phone.

The rom you linked to is the older leaked pre-public version of Sammy JB. You should try flashing the latest final public version from here.
You need to flash another modem ... Tell me if it works or not
Or try this

[Q] I9100 registers SIM upon pin change only

Upon having converted a SHW-M250S to I9100 (unrooted) I stuck for days now to look for solutions to get fully functional GSM SIMs working on the phone which had no problem with the same SIMs before conversion.
The actual data are:
Model: GT-I9100
Version: 4.1.2
Baseband: M250S.UB23.0933.ST
Kernel: 3.031-1497824
Just by chance I discovered that a SIM pin change solves the problem, which however is not quite convenient, as it is required upon every system start.
Basically the phone starts, no SIM pin request comes up and hence does not register the SIM at the network (IMEI shows correctly upon *#06') AND there is no way to add an APN (just does not save any new entry).
As soon as a SIM pin change has been confirmed by the system it registers at the network and works fine until restart.
Do you know any cure for such behavior?

The cure was simple: just switching off the PIN entry requirement and the phone registers immediately upon start-up!
