Hi,
I am considering flashing CM10 to an AT&T S3. There is a post on an Android blog which states the following regarding flashing CM10:
Create a NANDroid backup to backup your current ROM. In case there is something that doesn’t work out with this ROM, you can always revert to your old ROM.

If I create this NANDroid backup with clockworkmod, can I simply restore back to it after flashing CM10 to revert to stock? No other steps other than selecting backup/restore in clockworkmod?
I was running CM7 on an Atrix 4G and had created a NANDroid backup but later learned that to restore stock I would need to either flash a fruitcake from the house of pudding or flash the riskier SBF, or something like that. I never tried because I never felt comfortable enough with the processes.
Now I am just wondering if the revert-to-stock process for AT&T S3 from CM10 would be the same. If there is a revert guide please point me to it. I've found comprehensive CM10 flashing guides but not revert ones.
Thanks!
I'm about to go out to dinner and don't have time to explain this, but you should really google the different regional versions of the GS3 before asking advice on flashing your AT&T version.

I have Googled and Google, both before posting and after. Perhaps my Web searching skills are horrible.
Regardless, I have not found someone who has switched between CM10 and stock on an AT&T S3 or a tutorial detailing the steps to revert. Until I find some more info I am hesitant to flash.

I think what the poster was asking is do you have an International SGS3 I9300 or some other phone . Firmware from I9300 may brick non I9300 devices .
You mention AT &T S3 = not this forum phone ????
Many users mistakenly do such that is why we have a sticky .

Theres actualy an at&t sgIII specific forum. Ask a mod if this forum to move it. Or create a new thread there if no one does it.
That's right, I'm a premium potayto. Problem
well i dont know what happened, but i rooted my glaxy s3 via qbking77 method that he describes in these forums. however, when i try to move a picture or a video that is mine from my pc to my phone, i get a message saying---do you want to copy the file? file may be copied but you may not be able to view or play it on your device.
i dont know what happened, but oh well...i rebooted the phone, its in usb debugging and all that..
my files are good, all my personal photos so i dont know what the problem is...
appreciate any assistance and thanks in advance..

Just simply click yes, it should work or check the extension of the files. There are some picture extensions that the phones don't recognise.
qbking77 method
As their is no such method i believe on this forum .
But you could post a link to check for this root .
My big guess is that you are yet another in the wrong forum and do not have International I9300 phone .
If so firmware from here may brick your phone be warned .
Of course you may well have a I9300 but rooted with a method that is not for the phone .
So what phone have you and if its I9300 check the root method .

Lets make it simple you have L710 not a phone called the I9300.
This is not the Sprint L710 forum we know nothing about such a phone you would be better off in the Sprint L710 forum .
Does that make sense you are in the wrong forum as i keep saying .

Hello guys, I am kinda experienced with flashing roms and stuff since I owned galaxy s2 for over a year. However I bought a second hand galaxy S3 one month ago and it has a turkish firmware however when I tried and installed a new rom everything seems to work find except the network service all i see is a circle and has no service and i tried many roms even jelly bean rom (which worked fine with my friend's S3) even i installed the same exact firmware that i had when i got the phone with the same kernel but got nothing :/ then i took it to where i bought it and he told me i can not install any rom on it and just the one i had on it then he took it for like an hour and it was working again... but its really bothering me! what's wrong? i want to install jelly bean or cyanogenmod but afraid to lose the service again i read its something related to radio or stuff? so any help please?? and here is a screenshot of my kernel and rom..
I think you might want to flash different modems and see what works best for you

One search before posting and read the faqs and guides before not after flashing .
Two it requires you to restore your backed up EFS as per the faqs and guides .
Not read the faqs and guides and no backed up EFS then you require a service centre .
#But you can try a factory reset and flash stock rom first .

hey i'm reading guides in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2344125 to understand s3 more
but i have a question about mine ( sorry for being rushing in but i do need to change my phone these days )
my s3 is on leaked 4.2.2 israel , i need to flash back into 4.1.2 stock EGYPT ( or any good custome ROM ).
when i flashed 4.1.2 EGY before it made " restarting bootloader ". so rootSU told me to make factory wipe.but it didnt work
while am reading i found that restarting bootloader is a good sign that my phone isn't brick ( note : its working normally but the leaked ROM 4.2.2 having alot of issues ).
what should i do , please ask me for what u exactly need to know of info about my phone so i can provide and fix this.
(( do i need to just wait for 4.3 official release )) ?
thanks in advance
i really wanna make it to the factory state so i can backup nandroid and save my phone so i can start trying

efs is not related to rooting or custom roms mate. it is related to the network connection and your imei number. you need to back it up and keep safe so that if you face network problem after updating the phone to the latest 4.1.2, that might help you restore. refer to the thread under my signature for any queries relating to efs/imei.

already told you and again telling you to go through the link IMEI PROBLEMS under my signature or the link under rootSU signature.
Dear everyone,
i am getting in the next days the samsung galaxy s3 and i would like to prepare myself about what i should do to root the phone (and save the EFS folder).
I had from a colleague a samsung galaxy s2 which lost the IMEI and EFS folder, that's why i know that is crucial to save all. Plus i excercised on it to root the phone.
On the SG S2 i routed the phone loading the "philz-touch_3.00_i9100-signed.zip" with the phone and then applying the "Root_SuperSU.0.98-Busybox.1.20.2-signed.zip".
Phone was magically simple rooted and as simple as that, could be again unrooted.
Now, I am checking what to do for the samsung galaxy s3, but it seems that the procedure is not so simple and riskless anymore.
I read almost everywhere that the procedure is the one found on this website http://techverse.net/root-samsung-galaxy-s3-android-4-3-jellybean/
The procedure descripted asks me to use odin and from my experience with SG S2, this is there for reflashing the phone, or better to put a new rom in it. So if i did not understand wrong, with that procedure i basically put a new rom that is rooted. Am i right?
this is not really a good solution for me, as the unroot would not work good anymore.
Searching then deeper in the xda forum, i find this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/orig-development/i93xx-philz-touch-t2002953
So this seems to be much more similar to the one i applied to my sg s2.
Now the question is, why if this is much more simple, is so less shown as a solution and result on google?
is that "philz_touch_xxx.zip" + "Root_SuperSU.0.98.Only-signed.zip" for rooting the SG S3 as easy as with the S2?
Sorry if this question might have been already posted and answered. i just could not find it in the forum.
Thank you in advance for your attention!

So you mean that can be easily rooted with the files "philz_touch_xxx.zip" + "Root_SuperSU.0.98.Only-signed.zip" ?
does it flash a new rom somehow or just makes the device rooted?

ok so basically i just have to press volume up, home, power on button, open the CMW in the sd ("philz_touch_xxx.zip"), then from there apply the zip file "Root_SuperSU.0.98.Only-signed.zip".
correct?
sorry that i ask over and over, but i cannot brick this phone
You can't install philz recovery from the stock recovery, you would need to flash the .tar version with odin -so you would be better to use CF autoroot as recommended in the sticky guides.

SO: i will just root installing a custom recovery, but no room. perfect and clear like water.
Now i have a question that might have been answered in those threads but i just did not see it (or i would not ask i promise):
If i let the samsung galaxy S3 android upgrade to the latest android version through the official tool KIES, and THEN i make the root, so i have the latest android version, is it possible? If yes, can i use the same tools indicated in http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/ref-understanding-basics-rooting-s3-gt-t2362743 ?

AWESOME!! so that means also that if would ever come out any future android upgrade, in order to upgrade officially i should unroot the device, restore the stock recovery, update via kies and then re-root again. I think i got the whole thing!!

I was checking on the samsung galaxy S2 (previous phone) the CMW installed. There, in backup and restore, there is "backup" "restore" "delete"....
is that backup the NANDROID backup? if so, why isn't that clear like idiot prove (like me ) ?
Okay. Flash cf auto root in odin. Just go download mode on ur fone, then connect it to the pc. Then just flash the cfautoroot file in odin. No nid for cwm. Flash cwm AFTER u flash cfautoroot in odin.

ok you wrote really nice, but i don't understand what i should do after connecting it to the pc. You wrote "then just flash the cfautoroot file in odin", but isn't it what you wrote me at the beginning?
Instead of asking people to write out exactly what you want to do, just go and follow the guide -they are provided for that reason to help new users safely root etc.
