Baseband : unknown - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello xda,
My baseband is unknown
I don't find solution to my problem
If someone would help me, it would be cool
Thank's xda

Go here and flash a new modem, under the 'Phone' section of Odin.

Don't work
I install vilainrom 2.3 with CWM
And install modem KG3 with odin in 'phone'
I'm desperate

Help ?
My girlfriend is too desesperate
Sorry for my english i m french :/

Whats happening when you flash a modem with odin?
Have you tried to flash a modem with CWM?

Do you still have an IMEI number. Check in the phone settings->info->status
I had this problem to and this was because I "lost" my IMEI somehow. Anyway I could return to a generic IMEI. But still I do not have my original IMEI.

You lost your imei number, perhaps by playing with the unlock.
If you have a backup of your efs folder, then you can recover it. If you did not, then you will have to build a new nv_data.bin file. Good luck!

Ok that is bad. Try these threads:

They helped me to get a developer IMEI. Once my USB jig arrives I will send the phone back to Samsung in order to get a original IMEI.

I had exactly the same problem. read the threads I posted above.
Is your sgs2 rooted?

Basically unless you backed up your EFS folder your phone is hosed and will need to go back to samsung, flash a stock rom, use a usb jig to reset the flash counter and send it in for warranty repair.

[Q] Fake emei after flash the 4.1.2 XXLSJ rom

Hi,
After flashing the ROM XXLSJ, my phone has now a fake emei (004999010640000 / 01). Despite this, everything works fine: network, data, WIFI ...
I have a backup of my EFS folder, but even when I restored it, nothing changes and I still have the same emei (not original).
I tried the GSII_Repair.apk, EFS_Pro_1.12.6_Release, flash the origin ROM with Odin, but these didn't repair my phone.
An other idea?

I have ever done this, but always this fake emei.
An other idea?
Too, when I use GalaxySimUnlock.apk, it says code product : not active and Version HW : REV_
Is it normal?
Not enough to restore efs. You need to make sure the files inside have the right permissions. The one responsible fo imei should have linux permissions 755

What are the good permissions if I use rootexplorer.apk?
And when I open this file (nvdata.bin) wih an hex software I can see this message (not active) at the 0080810 offset. Have I modify it?
Ypu can set it to 700 actually... Meaning rwx for the owner. Then reboot the phone.

Does the IMEI and serial number in settings, about, status match what is written under your battery?
If either is wrong or blank then search Q&A for possible solutions.

Probably, it can be the SIMcard... Have you tried another SIM? Take your SIM out of the SIII and clean the golden chip on the SIM... You can although try to clean the SIMcontroller on the SIII where you plug in the SIM....
If it doesn't work, have you flashed a i9305 ROM? It can break you SIMreader...
Greetings...

"Safe Mode" is enabled if the EFS partition of your device is corrupted.
Sometimes if you succeeded in fixing the EFS partition, you stuck in factorymode.

What has happened to the phone before, what version stock makes it work and which custom roms have you tried.
sir may phone has stock firmware, orig from box, i just wanna install some custom rom like cyanogen etc... but everytime i installed rom, i always got problem, baseband and imei becomes UNKNOWN! i need to flash again with stock rom from sammobile, to fix everything, after flashing stock, it is working properly, but stock orig firmware.

Like boomboomer said more detail is needed their are many reasons why you lose imei one of the main ones is upgrade from efs v1 to efs v2 if you post the information that @boomboomer as asked for then he and others including myself will be able to answer your question better.
i just followed the procedure here:
http://www.android.gs/install-paranoid-android-4-6-beta-rom-for-samsung-galaxy-s3-i9300/
also this one procedure
http://beta.download.cyanogenmod.org/install
better i stay on stock firmware
Have you tried to back up your ESF folder or use ARIZA Patch?

Can't connect to my Network Carrier

Hello! I badly NEEDED your help guys!
My Device is Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300.
I have installed a new firmware, its android version is 4.3 and an open line version for Philippines.
But it can't make and can't receive call and sms. (I have tested all the 4.3 version that is open line from sammobile.com, but it didn't work to my carrier)
The only solution I think is to flash a new modem, or to bring it back to its default stockrom which is 4.1.2(this device is bought from Israel, but it works to our carriers in the Philippines.)
The picture below is the screenshot of my device before.

Please HELP me, I really NEED you assistance please.
@jphilip04: is IMEI, showed in settings, the same as shown on the label under battery?
@rp158, yes sir, they were the same. What should I do now? Please.
@jphilip04: go back to your last firmware with working net access (with Odin). If everythings works fine there, let it update to 4.3 by KIES. If you still have net access, try to install your Phillipines-firmware.

@rp158, The problem is, I can't find the default firmware from sammobile.com. Because my device was bought from Israel. I tried to search it on google, but theres' no link that can direct me to download the exact firmware with the exact modem version.
But before I did anything on my device, I also did a nandroid backup to my default firmware thru TWRP recovery .
@jphilip04: I find on sammobile.com Israel-EMC2-build. So what?

@rp158 And what about the baseband version? Is it I9300JKEMC1 too? because I can't find the firmware with the same BASEBAND VERSION: I9300JKEMC1 on sammobile.
@jphilip04: not important. If you loose IMEI with old firmware, do nothing with OTA or KIES but flash immediatly the actual Israel-firmware with Odin.
