Different versions of Optimus... - Optimus One, P500, V General

Which rooting guide/roms do we use for optimus T, which is p509.. I understand its a version of the Optimus One.. but not only for the T, what about the U, the C, S, etc. etc.. do we follow for the optimus one?

only the optimus t can use anything optimus one. no other optimus phone should be using anything in the optimus one forum unless you want a brick as a phone (either that or your phone will have lots of problems)

EDIT: the p503 can also use anything p500 (thanks dr.notor)

Awesome, so the T can work then for optimus one.. I have an epic 4g, theres only one of those lol, too many optimus, my cousing has the C so i guess he's out of luck? I see your on an optimus T, how does that rom work for u? My friend with the Optimus T just wants to update it to gingerbread lol

yeah your cousin is out of luck
and so far no problems on my optimus t. the optimus t is like a mirror image of the optimus one (both use the same hardware; only difference is that the optimus t is tmobile-branded)

Awesome.. what is the most stable rom for the optimus t right now? I clicked the link for yours and it says its a beta release? I got my epic on 2.3.4 custom kernel and urban decay as the rom lol runs smooth except for my sms, have to use a sms app because it force closes :-\ needone for the T that has no problems

the rom might still be a beta release, but trust me, it is really stable. there are always two versions of the rom: a stable release and a testing release (and even the testing release is pretty stable). the rom has only a few minor bugs:
from the first post of the thread:
Divx/xvid playback don't work (use MoboPlayer)
(its a bug but theres a solution)
Strange crash in Camera (Restore defaults in video mode)
(my camera has never crashed before)
ADW: Widgets: crash after Choose Catalog
(i dont know how to get it crash, and i use launcherpro anyways)
Empty device serial number
(this is the only problem i have, but really, if you want to know your serial number, you can just take out the battery and there it is on the back of the phone)

Add 503 to the list (the Turkey one IIRC).

[NEWS] Gingerbread confirmed on LG Optimus One

Optimus One OS Upgrade
LG will upgrade all Optimus One smartphones currently using the Froyo OS to the next version of the Android OS, Gingerbread. Details of the upgrade schedule will be announced locally in due course. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and misunderstanding that was caused regarding this issue.

so my question is... will all the existing ROMS and ports and some tweaks work on Gingerbread?
or just installing Gingerbread alone will make a better over all improvement of O1?

Hope the official update gets rid of that annoying LGMITS error and the SD card which randomly becomes unrecognized.
I also heard that Gingerbread should make power consumption more efficient compared to froyo (apparently the price to pay for being snappier than eclair).
Great news indeed.

Yeah, that LGMITS error. It annoyed me for a while, but suddenly it stopped popping up on my screen. Weird.
So you mean power consumption compensates for the touchscreen's accuracy? I just knew that now, seriously LOL. Hopefully that isn't the case with "our" Gingerbread update.
This just made my day ^____^ Guess I'll postpone using a custom ROM until Gingerbread.
Hope I made a right choice to choose OT.
Other than AWS and wifi calling support, I'd like to see flash support on future 2.3 update.
I thought there's already a Flash support for Optimus One....?

Apparently, the browser does not have the flash plug-in or it is disabled or inaccesible...
by the way >> you can enable plug-ins from the browser settings menu
oh.. and i think flash is really missing in the phone..
Im starting to love LG
Are there any informations or speculations about the release of the gingerbread update ?

I emailed LG Romania Support today and the answer was: "the P500 can't be upgraded to gingerbread because the processor and the memory will not allow runing the 2.3 version" )) So if LG Romania doesn't even know that their phone can be upgraded to 2.3 than they surely don't know when will this be possible
They are complete morons. Because of the memory ? This device has 512 mb, same as Nexus S, same as Desire, Nexus One, Galaxy S, all high-end devices.
I'm 100% positive that the upgrade will be released !

I also sent them this link, they seem to know nothing about their products
You can imagine what 2 milion owners can do if that's not true.
Will this update fix the sd card problem?
what's wrong with the sd card? i never had any problems with it.
I'm having trouble detecting the sd card.
I inserted a sandisk 4gb class 4 and my phone didn't recognized it (i got the 'SD card removed. Insert a new one.' notification). Then, i inserted back the original 2gb sd card from the box, but that notification is still there and it can't be recognized. But both my PC and a another android device (a galaxy tab) can detect it. So, i tried formatting both the 4gb and the original 2gb with the galaxy tab and inserted it to my O1 but nothing has changed. I tried updating to the official V10E firmware but it makes no differences. Any help please?

Optimus V ROM options?

Im getting ready to buy this phone, its the Virgin Mobile US model which to me looks to be exactly like the Optimus S from sprint. I was wondering what my ROM options were using this specific model, or if that even really mattered much. I want maximum performance for games and apps but aiming for decent battery life too, maybe something that scales and only overclocks when it needs it kinda thing (ive played with SetCPU and Milestone Overclock before on a moto Defy). Any help would be appreciated.
On a sidenote, does anyone know how Rocket Bunnies runs on this phone?

Someone from android central tried cm7 for the optimus s and said it was working pretty good.
saw a phandroid post of a rom called Xionia-VM designed for the optimus V. Ill keep an eye out for that, do you guys have any experience with this?
Here's a subforum dedicated to optimus V, it may be possible to use the ROMs from Optimus S, since they're so similar, but it might be best to ask there first.
yeah from what i gather if i use Optimus S roms the home and menu buttons will be backwards and the accelerometer wont work. @[email protected]
There are 2 working ROM's so far on the Android Central Forum for Optimus V, I'm currently running Rodmius 1.1 myself. Works great. Haven't tried Xionia yet

[Q] Can i install LG Optimus V ROM on lg optimus one?

Hi all,
My question is can i install LG optimus V ROM on LG Optimus One. I currently have Optimus One and wanted to install MIUI ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1515991 of Optimus one on my device. They both are LG Optimus one devices with same specifications.
Do reply with possible valid points.
Regards,
Pravin
Long story short: no. I forgot why, but I think it had to do something with different radios or something (I believe the P500 uses GSM and the OV uses CDMA; this is also the reason why the Optimus T, which uses GSM, can use P500 roms; I believe the OV and the Optimus S are compatible as they both use CDMA; I don't know if this is all correct, but you get the general idea). Also, if you could, they both would have the same development section right?
Also, if you wanted to flash MIUI, you do realize that there is MIUI for the P500?:

[Q] Optimus v/t/s rom question

will an optimus v rom work on an optimus s. or the same for an optimus T. Im thinking that the zvd radio im on may be conflicting with the possibility to run a optimus v or even a optimus t rom on my optimus s.
I just wanted to try some optimus v roms but i need this question answered 1st thnx
There both pertty much the same they use the same files so it should work
The network?
will it still work on the sprint network?
You would probley have to change the network file over so that it would work you can use winrar to do that
Optimus V and S ROMs do not work on Optimus T.
Optimus S Roms should work on V, but you would have to make sure in that section of development here. I am pretty sure I heard something about scripts that will change V Roms to work on S, but being a T user I am not certain.
For Optimus T, you have to use Optimus One ROMs.
So far as I know, the difference in those models is a bit more than just the radio. I don't know enough to say specifically why, but just take a look at the sections here. You can see there is a reason Optimus One and Optimus V have differing ROMS and development sections here.
If you want to be 100% certain, I know Optimus S Roms are here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-optimus-s-rooting-roms-hacks/
yeah i currently am on zvd radio for sprint but they no longer make many amazing roms for zvd because they have moved on to zvc or zvj frequency's. hmm maybe ill try one on a dummy phone, or maybe even an optimus s emmulator..

Well for sure this LG has better hardware: more RAM, better screen, resolution, full HD recording. Kernel is 3.0.X and seriously I think it's not so important when you can get better hardware. One advantage of desire X is that it will probably hold longer on battery but stil LG L9 is fine for 1-2 days (depends on use). Now we have a lot of custom ROMs too (only P760&P765, less for diffrent version of L9). LG L9 is made really well too. If you are in place where you get other variants I would be think carefully if custom ROMs are important for you cause now there isn't much you can choose from and unlocking the bootloader is quite complicated in comparsion to P760&P765.
