sorry, i'm also sure that this could be tweaked somewhere (by a dev), but not under stock conditions (there is not user-setting for this)...
therefore, you would need someone to code/change this for you!

markus

I don't think it's possible , this is an Android limitation, but you don't need to make it visible everytime if your device was paired before with the device you want to connect. I paired my SII with my pc and if i want to quickly transfer a file from pc to SII i just activate bluetooth from notification bar and that's all.

Thanks for the response folks, i have to say this is utterly ridiculous, you should be able to make your device visible for as long as you want, surely someone has come up with a solution to this?

actually this is useful information thanks but i still think it's ridiculous that you only get 120 seconds visibility.

CM7 allows you to set it to never so it must be coding needed to do it

[Q] Is there a way to play mobile music via PC's speakers through Bluetooth\WIFI?

Hi,
Is there a way to play the music on my HTC Desire HD to the PC's speakers (speakers are plugged to it), via air connection (no cables) (Bluetooth, Wifi..)
I'd really like something that could do that.. app \ configuration \ software.. w/e
(My phone is rooted)
Thanks,
Yarden.
With this type of connection, did not add software or specific suites on my Windows Seven, I was able to phone from the computer and to enable playback of music stored on Android. As of Ubuntu , to interface with the memory of the terminal I had to continue to use the USB cable . That said, turn on the bluetooth settings on Android and apply to the detectability check. Switch to Windows, activate the BT here and open the panel for the 'addition of the device. Once found, select it and click Next.
Best to proceed with Create a pairing code. The option Enter the pairing code of the device is useful when the password is created by Android and not, as in this case, from Windows. The last option then (Associate without any code) may not bring any positive result, then evitiamola.
This is the code to enter on Android in a window that automatically appears on your smartphone. It should be quick because the expiration of the timeout will need to create a new code.
The device has been added to your computer.
The following is a screen to enter the pairing code created on Android. Would in practice the process is reversed: the code is created from the settings panel Bluetooth smartphone, after the detection of your computer.
Hence the smartphone detected correctly in Windows Bluetooth devices.
Double click to open the Settings panel, and the Bluetooth phone operations. With its key Windows connection is able to play the music on phone (in my case it displayed a reduced version of Windows Media Player near the ' Notification Area ) and manage phone calls using a microphone and speakers on your system. At the bottom under Settings for the exchange file is designated folder for transferring files between two devices (but I could not get it to work) and Authorization Options for connections.
First of all thank you very much for your reply.
I kinda lost you somewhere at the middle..
I have successfully paired my android device with my PC by a pairing code..
and I have a windows 7, dunno exactly what u said about Ubutu..
Can you explain again please what do I do now? where do I go on my PC?
On what do I double click to enter the settings panel?
And how exactly do I make the mediaplayer understand that the music is now coming from outside device?
sorry but everything you write is translated by google translator because I am Italian and I do not know English.
after pairing the phone double click on 'icon in the panel controti should open a second window, there click on connect.
Hah Google Translate is awesome thing
heres my paired device (Desire HD), Double click brings me to properties..
Now where is the connect and how do I play media via this?
Thanks !
devi fare doppio clic con il tasto sinistro e poi clicchi su connetti
I understand your words.. I just can't find this "connect" button.
Could you add a picture or something more visual please?
My PC is written in Italian but the keys are the same.
Double click with the left button of the trackpad on the 'phone icon and connect
I can not post pictures or why not 8 posted messages and do not have the permission of the forum

2.Which version of Android it use?
3.Which version of windows you use?
4.do you get any error on windows application?
Desire HD
ICS 4.0.4 sense 3.6
Windows 8 Release Preview
Using my own network it can't work cuz it gives me ip of 10.0.0.10 (I ran to this problem alot, its my router problem),
But using my neighbor's network with the regular IP gives no error.. nothing that I can visually see..
I believe the problem is on the phone cuz it can't even play the music file..
I'll test it later on my brother's PC and phone to see if theres anything different..

[Q] Why a USB connection disconnects Bluetooth?

Sorry if it is a stupid question, but I am completely new to S2/android and can't find an answer anywhere.
Is there any reason why placing the phone onto the craddle (which is connected to my PC via USB) comes up and ask me to disconnect Bluetooth? Why is it not possible to use both USB or bluetooth at the same time?
All my previous phones could do that but they were all HTC and all Windows Mobile phones. So I am not sure whether it is an issue with Samsung or Android or I just haven't configured it correctly.
I normally have the phone in the craddle while working (so it charges and can transfer files to and from) and use the bluetooth handset to answer or make calls. It is pretty annoying to not be able to do that anymore.
Thanks.
From what I can tell it's a thing with the Samsung bloatware they put on the phone, as I just tested it with my phone and I can have bluetooth, wifi and usb all connected at the same time. Perhaps try flashing a new Rom?
Actually I have just found out that if I go ahead and disconnect bluetooth and get the connection through USB running, I can then re-enable Bluetooth and they both keep working.
THis is a completely stock S2, so it would be nice if it was possible to change this irritating behaviour.

You've already been given your answer, flash a custom ROM that's deleted and the bloatware, and please don't become one of those newbies that doesn't read the responses in the very thread they started
Yes I have read "TehH4rRy"'s answer. My apology for not thanking him for that.
I was hoping for a solution that does not involve flashing and rooting since i have much better things to do with my time, and I was hoping this was just about me not knowing some perhaps hidden options to turn this behaviour off.
As far as I know this is the generic "Q&A" section, so you can't assume that everybody that posts a question here is looking to flash their S2 to death.
I posted my finding so that if somebody else had the same problem and is not willing to flash their phone, they would know that there is a work-around, and perhaps some other kindly helping users have even better work-arounds.
Your answer on the other hand I am not sure what it adds to the thread... but thanks anyway.
If you enable USB debugging, the phone will not disconnect the Bluetooth.

[Q] Posibility of auto turn on Andriod when charger it's connected

I'm thinking in the possibility of use an Android tablet to develop an HMI interface to control electrical devices.
One of the problems it's that the devices could be long periods of time stored or simply off, so it will be needed to turn off the tablet via software when the device is Off.
The question if it's possible via an Android App/custom ROM/utilizing root/etc to force the Android device turn on when the charger it's connected?, an not enter with the typical battery charging screen.
Hopping that somebody can know the answer because I couldn't find something in the forums right now.
Well I am not sure but I think that you can find a custom rom that has that feature preloaded and you can develop on that platform.
Somebody known of an ROM that could have that funtionality, or somebody that develop an ROM if it could be possible to add that in android or the charging screen can't be hacked?
For the sake of completion, I have found that it's possible turn on an android device using adb, with the command:
Code:
./adb reboot
But that will imply to build the adb app in a microcontroller connected to the USB port. Certanly it will be more easy if it could be activated in a ROM but it may be impossible to do, somebody has information on that?

I have the same issue as the OP i need my tablet to come on when power is connected. (galaxy tab 2 (7) ) does anyone have any other suggestions?
I have been looking for a solution for very long. There still is no one who has guaranteed to invest time in this project. I have, however, come across a few android models which have same or similar features built in their ROM.
For example: Sony Ericsson X10 Mini does exactly what we are looking for. It turns on android OS when the charger is connected.
There are other generic android devices which perform a similar task. There is a feature in such devices namely "Schedule On/Off" which turns the phone on/off at a pre defined time of the day. A handful of devices that I have come across are Spice MI 270 and Micromax A60. There are a lot many such devices available in the market.
Do not forget to post the solution when u get one.

there was an app made by chainfire called Nomoarpowah that would boot the tablet when charging and you could touch the screen to turn on the device, i sent him a few messages over the last couple of months but no reply and it looks like he's stopped development on it.
so there is a way, i don't have the knowledge to do it myself though.
In Android 4.2 the feature is already there

[Q] Broken screen + "hidden" pics - How to retrive!?

Hello!
So I dropped my S4 and the screen broke. I've tried everything I can think off to get the "hidden" photos out, but I cannot get them out!
The "hidden" files are photos you can "hide" in the Samsung Galaxy gallery app and they do not show up in KIES or when you hook it up to a USB (Not even if you use show hidden folders and files).
I dont know what to do, I dont know how to unluck the phone (I use a pincode), but the phone seems to be hooked up to my WiFi still and it's working.. (I can turn it on and if I get a new email / facebook msg the phone gives me notifcations).
Is there anyone that can help me!? I've tried to google everything I can think off, but I cant find anything >.<
Please help me because I really don't feel like paying 150 euro to get a maybe to get the photos out (Samsung support told me they MIGHT beable to fix the screen and not reinstall the phone)..

The photos are stored in a folder on the internal storage called .hide which, I'm pretty sure, you would need to use the touchscreen to show the hidden files. You'll need to go to your My Files app and go to the settings and enable the hidden folder. Know anyone else with an S4? If so, and either of you is handy with a screwdriver and a plastic opening tool, then it would be fairly easy to disassemble both and connect the working LCD assembly to the broken phone long enough to unlock the phone and do what you need to do. There's only a handful of easy to remove phillip head screws that are all the same size and then carefully getting a tool inbetween the crack that runs around the edge to pop the back chassis off, then you can disconnect the LCD assembly and do the same to the other. The connection is not very long, but is enough for you to have the display connected to the side of it so basically your phone is face down and their phone is connected and face up.

Awesome, that might work. But I cant see the screen?
It depends on the severity of your damage.
I'm making my assumptions from information collected in this thread.
If you are somehow able to browse all files in your storages, try opening the ".hidden" folder in the internal storage and see if you can manage to get them. If they need to be decoded first, again, try someone with a working S4 and just dump the files in their ".hidden" folder, let him unhide it and then download them.
If you can't manage to get a connection to the storage and browse the files (which again, I'm assuming you can as you're talking about KIES not showing your pics)
Well, not sure about the whole S4 thing, but there might be a way to flash CWM without using the touch screen and then pull the pictures using ADB. If they need to be decoded first (I'm not sure how the "hide" function works), you could then either do the same steps as above or edit your build.prop to enable USB debugging in system and use a tool for controlling your phone from your PC (MyMobiler or similar). I need some backup on this from experienced S4 users, but it might be a go.
Well you didn't mention that the LCD was not working as well, just the touch screen. So, something like this might help then:
http://www.amazon.com/Anpower®-Adapter-Reader-Galaxy-Note2/dp/B00F0DTXEQ
Or that. Depends whether you want to spend time and effort or money on getting the pics out. On the other hand, that connection kit is probably the safest solution you'll ever get your hands on.
this is great:victory:

Broken to the point where the touchscreen doesn't work? If so, then there isn't much you can do, unless USB Debugging is already enabled, and even that depends on which update it's on, to whether or not you can access it with a new PC without accepting the key on the phone if trying to connect via adb. If the touchscreen still works, then there is a variety of ways to retrieve texts.
