i havent tested it yet on Cm7/miui roms, so beware.
It is just a stock T959TLKG2 gb bootloader.

Do you have a telus t959d? I flashed this with no problems, you must have had a bad flash. This is the boot loader from the official telus 2.3.3 release so there is no way it should have bricked your phone. Just make a jig. The first brick i did months ago sucked so i ran out and bought the resistors and soldered them up to a spare micro sd end and was up and running in minutes, very simple to do if you know how to solder.
Sorry for the noob question, but I got to ask...
I'm already updated to telus GB 2.3.3, what/who is this bootloader for?
thx
Here is a solid one. Unzip it and Flash what is in the zip as it is no renames no nothing.
File to flash will be T959TLKG2.tar.md5.

this boot loader would be for people who do not use the official telus roms(IE CM7 or MIUI) as these roms do not touch the bootloader so a separate update needs to be done once to get to the latest...as for actual benefits for anyone using a GB bootloader the only half definitive answer i got was that it helps lower battery use.

phone rebooted and never came back up...odin stayed at the state before pass!
maybe i should have waited longer before calling it a fail and unplugging but i waited 1-2 min
i have a jog on the way i hope to got it will fix it...phone does not even power up at all not signs of life...
Sorry to post this late but NEVER tick reboot when flashing bootloaders.
ok now, remove battery, leave it 1-2 days with out one, then do this:
Open odin Press Vol+ and Vol- connect usb cable and put battery on.
If you have download mode reflash bootloader this time make sure reboot is not ticked, nothing ticked except pda.
If said fail retry without power off phone, if pass press power for 10 secs and you are good to go.
thank you i tried that i already had the battery out of the phone since it happened opened up odin pressed both vol + and vol - plugged in the usb cable and put the battery in(was tricky) waited a few secs but nothing....i really hope the jig i ordered is going to work...what do you think the chances are of it working?? i think i will try your trick again come monday just because

I have never bricked it before, and I cannot go into download mode... I tried the the Vol up and vol down, didn't work, so I have been using ADB and just ****ed something up....
Now I need to know a way how I can revert back to stock, please and thank you, I will forever owe you one.
EDIT: Okay there is some confusion, to simplify it I will take it step by step:
I replaced an APK file from my system/apps and ever since it has been force closing process.android.acore, so I tried reflashing to stock, it froze while doing so now I have a picture of a caution sign, a phone and a computer coming up on my Vibrant, it will not start up.
It is hardware locked because I have never been able to access download mode via hardware keys(I have always been using ADB).
Is there any way I can reinstall stock? Or is my vibrant now destroyed?
what exactly were you doing when your phone stopped working? "just ****ed something up" makes it hard to pinpoint problems...
I don't know I replaced my phone.apk with another one then ever since then it keeps saying process.android.acore has stopped working. It wouldn't stop showing up so I tried to reflash with Odin to stock but it froze and now it is bricked.
bumping a little bit, I have never bricked it before so I have 0 experience.
What do you mean by froze? On what screen? How far can you get into booting?

Alright let me start over with more detail:
I tried to replace the dialer so I replaced the phone.apk and then process.android.acore kept force closing so then I tried reflashing with stock, during that I don't know what happened but I think my phone froze, so then it shut off and turned back on, I only found a screen with a computer on it... I am assuming it is bricked.... I also know it is hardware locked because I tried going into debug mode with vol up and vol down, how can I unbrick it?
Try moving the stock rom into the phones internal memory via adb. And flash it after a wipe.
I am Also having this same problem
I Flashed my Vibrant through Rom Manager to Froyo 2.2 from eugene373 and sombionix.
After flashing to both ROMS for Froyo I wanted to revert back to 2.1.
I tried to put sombionix 1.3 eclair ROM back on to my phone using clockwork mod.
The flash was not successful it stopped in the middle but the phone came on with a Force close error of an android process.
I tried to reboot through adb reboot recovery with usb debugging enabled.
The phone shut down like it would reboot into recovery mode and now it gets stuck on boot at the samsung vibrant screen.
I tried to use ODIN to flash back to the stock Rom but the phone is recognized in ODIN but will not flash.
ODIN sees the phone but will not get past flash analysis. (Sat for 8 Hours)
I believe this is the definition of bricked. Please Help!!!!!

Can you get the phone in download mode?
Did you try this:
Pull battery
hold the volume up and down
reinsert the battery whiles still holding down the volume up n down
plug in usb cord
it should put you back in to DL mode
Open ODIN and unplug phone from PC and plug back in hopefully it will notice it then.
I am not sure if you can get in DL mode and it just wont let you do anything, but if you have already tried this my apologies.

you are really not giving a lot of details here...all you are saying you tried installing a rom and then it froze halfway..
Are you rooted firstly?
If you are have you flashed CF-root kernel?
How did you try to install the rom?
More info and then more people can help you out buddy..see if you can get into recovery and restart your phone.
well... if you've tried "every" (its not like there are a lot) button combination... then just go buy a jig from ebay and force it into download mode...

Nothing from what you said would help..
He obviously flashed it with Odin, and he said he's getting a yellow triangle with a computer behind it..
From what I understood, he could get into download mode.
So just boot into download mode and flash stock ROM. That should do it.

its ok and same goes by my post as well buddy..we all been in his position one way or the other
1st - Your phone is not bricked if it show an image. Whatever image it is. The only real software way to brick your phone is to flash bad bootloader or stop a bootloader while they are being flashed. However, Bootloader are flashed first. So if your phone stoped half way, you should not have trouble too much.
Remove the battery from your phone for like a minute, then reboot your phone in download mode (vol- + home + power and when the phone light up, release power.) Then flash another rom from odin.
Also, what rom did you used ? If you flashed a rom for another phone, then you might have flashed bootloader for that phone on yours, which is bad. In this case you will surely need a JIG.
sorry im new to this whole rooting/flashing thing. i downloaded the lightning rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274
i have never rooted or doneanthing to my s2 before. all i did was follow the instructions on the page and thought it would be all good? it froze about a quarter of the way there in odin so i just took my phone out.
I usually find from this state I can get back to bootloader or download states
push and hold vol+ and home then power for bootloader
push and hold vol- and home then power for download
sometimes the phone can seem to freeze a little or even die (this happened to me loads on the galaxy s and once already on the s2) and removing battery sim etc or attaching the charger can jog it
however as other have said a JIG is your friend if for no other reason that even if you recover without it, custom roms up the rom count which some twitchy carriers might invalidate your warranty for, the jig will reset this
you can get them from ebay for less than £3 delivered, or there are instructions on this site for making them yourself if you are so inclined.
simply search 'galaxy s2 jig' on ebay mine was delivered today from portugal as I am way too lazy to make one and only wanted a counter reset anyway
Hey guys.
I made a stupid error last night when I tried going from ICS CM9 back to ICS STOCK LPQ.
I forgot to wipe data and just wiped cache and dalvik cache.
The connection broke whilst flashing through ODIN and now I have a blank black screen and the phone won't turn on...((( (It does technically as when I try pressing the on button later on the phone would get hot - meaning its on but BLACK SCREEN)
I have tried taking the battery out for hours and putting it back in...nothing is working.
I don't know what to do...I'm in uni where I have fast wifi. Please help. Any advice would be grateful
EDIT:
Ok.
So usb jig arrived this morning. Ripped it open. Popped my sgsII from charger (fully charged I think!) took battery out - 15 secs
placed battery back in.
Inserted USBJIG. . .
. . .
. . . . BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH
Nothing....Still the same. No screen activity...sad...
only way is either JTAG or Samsung service center right?
I used to have yellow exclamation mark + 4 counts....but they can't see anything so they won't know right?
or did the usbJig work but just the fact that I can't see anything on the screen??
...sad I hated seeing noobs flashing phones improperly and crying when it got softbricked....well even though mine is a straight hardbrick i still feel sad....noob

If you can get into download mode then there is still hope. If you can't then your only option is either warranty repair of Jtag service. If download mode then works then just reflash using Odin.

.
Warranty is void with custom rom root or rom counter above zero .
Will they know yes counter is on 4 .
Will they ignore it and put it through as warranty they may but dont count on it .
USB jig would be the starting point .
That fails you could go to warranty repair if thats rejected then pay for JTag repair .

if you have adb maybe you could try:
1. Connecting your device to PC while turned off,
2. CMD > adb devices
* If you see your device connected, proceed with:
adb reboot recovery or adb reboot bootloader
* If you don't see any device connected, try googling for qhsusb_dload driver for your device, and after you install them (and maybe a couple of PC restarts) repeat step 2
3. if you manage to get to recovery, i hope you have your nandroid backup so you could restore them.
my HTC sensation 4G had this situation few days ago, couldn't go to recovery/bootloader, blanked out when turned on and had fever
i fixed it using those steps, i wish i could remember where i got the qhsusb driver thingy from.. i'll let you know when i remember.
edit: it might work on S2, or might not.. i don't know this will help or not, but you could read adb/fastboot/bootloader/android 101, maybe you could get something from there

The bootloader death thing is not 100% true. When I first got my phone, (when there wasn't any rom for it) I tried flashing a I9000 rom. I was so stupid and luckily it didn't break my phone. After the flashing it turned on and stayed on bootlogo.
It was a miracle for me!

Thanks for the help, but as I said. I only get a black screen I cant get in to download mode or CWR.
If you can't go into download mode you won't be able to repair anything...
If you have an USB jig, it should work on S3 to go to download mode
I figured...

Kinda sucks
My brother came home with the phone yesterday. I put CWR on it then rooted it and all was fine. I figure I could throw the siyah kernel on it and install a second rom for him to try out.... I have been doing this stuff on my SGS1 and SGS2 for years and never had this problem. But I guess that's it. I ordered a jig on ebay just in case they wont take the phone back at the store. I guess a mod can close this thread if there is nothing else to try.
Thanks for everyone's time....
Strange, the kernel and download mode are at completly different places.
Breaking the kernel, fine. But breaking downlad mode access?
It worked for others already, so please try:
- power off the phone
- remove usb-cable if attached
- pull battery for 30seconds
-press and hold vol-down and Home button. (the latter in the centre)
- press power until the logo appears
Does it still not go to download mode?
USB jigs are pretty easy to build yourself if you have ever used a soldering iron. So if you're like me, you won't wait for the ebay-seller to deliver =)

I Have tried everything possible with the 3 button combo and cant get in to download mode. Pull battery for up to 5 minutes, USB in, USB out, everything I can think of. I cant even get to the LOGO. The red light might come on for a few seconds but nothing at all on the screen.
And all I did was:
Flash the CWR in download mode with odin, reboot(everything worked fine)
Flash su-root zip in CWR, rebooted(everything worked fine)
Made a Backup in CWR, rebooted(everything worked fine)
Flash SiyahKernel S3 zip in CWR, then got an error saying zip was not installed, rebooted and could not get boot logo, download or CWR
ask karnel maker just see weather he can help u out. as might be he knwing case of this ..

Go to eBay and get yourself a USB jig. very cheap and will put your phone into download mode.

It might be a stupid question but is there any charge in the battery?

I have a dock charger for extra batteries and it shows full charge on the dock.
This same thing just happened to me.
I dont have internet at my house i only always use my phone. I read about the siyah kernal and decided to flash it this morning hoping that i could get hotspot to work. I did it through CW and now the screen just stays black. I got the same warning msg with a andy on his back and a red triangle. It was fine before and working normally. I had a stock firmware and the only thing that i changed about the phone was rooting it through odin. Now i'm screwed because i never had this issued with any phone and i'm tempted to take it back to best buy and blame them. I had soft bricked it about 4 days ago but i was able to fix it in a few mins after searching xda. When the phone is plugged in to the computer it does make a connection sound but the device name is not my phone. Someone point me in the right direction

as above. Jig to download mode. Then flash your kernel of choice via Odin.

Maybe this will work out???
This is the one I'm looking at on amazon

I'm not new to flashing and root but i am new to samsung devices. I dont know what would be a good kernel nor how to use a usb jig.

That would actually be Siyah. But you don't seem to like it anymore after having it brick your phone *g*
nor how to use a usb jig.

Pull the battery for 30 seconds, plug it back in. Then plug in to USB jig and within 5 seconds your phone has automatically turned on an gone to Download mode.
NOTE: Some suppliers sell ****ty Jigs with a too high tolerance value of the resistance. These DO NOT work on the S3 even if they worked on the S1/S2.
I had one on the way 2 minutes after Couldn't get in download mode.

@goul0080: Please if possible measure the resistance between pin3 and pin5 of the Jig. It should be 301kOhm +- 1% tolerance. Anything between 1 and 5% may n or may not work.
If the phone still doesn't work you should check for a repair shop around you. They can use JTAG (direct access to the flash storage and other system compontents) to flash the ROM and you should be good to go again. Usually costs around 20$ afaik.

looks like mine didn't read it fully but yeah. Basically pull battery to make sure phone is off. Give it a few secs then stick battery back in. Then stick in the jig. Phone autoboots into download mode.

I don't have anything to measure the Ohm, sorry. Also the closest Phone repair shop is about 9 hours drive, no joke. I am on a island in Canada and I have to drive about an our just to get to a small crappy walmart haha.
Hey guys
Just to let u know. Today I got Jelly Bean official update, on official unbranded phone in UK with original untouched software and after few hours phone got completely dead !!
Maybe wait with your update until more info will appear around UK.
oucccccch that sucks. did ya update through kies or OTA update via phone. If you have a rooted phone and attempted to update OTA it will fail. kies shouldn't give ya that issue.
If your phone is still running stock rom and zero binary counts. take it to Sammy store somewhere.
EDIT: remember if your phone is rooted you can always go to download mode and flash any Rom via Odin. it's not a problem.

I will definitely go tmrw. I hope it's very very rare case.
If you are one of those people who can't be bothered to waste 2 weeks on repair, you could try using a Jig. Thus hopefully allowing you to boot into download mode, and flashing stock firmware with Odin.

Sounds the same to me. In the morning I got OTA JB. I was charnging it in the evening. I think last time when I unlocked it and texted was around 11pm, and then after midnight no response. I took battery out for a minute. But nothing, no any sign, even after I plugged in. Nothing.
Recovery Mode
Try to boot into recovery mode. Turn phone off by taking out battery, put it back then press and hold(in the following order) volume down+home bottom+power, remember to keep them press until you see a screen that shows a yellow triangle with a warning sign, release all bottoms and press volume up. Them you will see recovery menu. If you can boot in recovery you are in luck and is something you can fix yourself with Odin 3.07 and a stock rom.
