I'm running fauxs kernel but I scaled it back to 1 ghz. However, when I select Time ib each state I notice that it's still going past that frequency, what am I doing wrong?

i am having same issue, i think set cpu only kicks in after the boot.
I rebooted and I still have the problem.

I meant to say setcpu only works after boot like cpu will be 1100 while booting after OS is loaded up setcpu gets super user permission and then scale cpu down.
If kernal has set clock to 1000 by defualt and only then it boots at 1000 and u can use setcpu to over clock it.
i guess old faux's 1.6 kernel was default 1000 new 1.7 is not.

I run the original cm7 rom with the infected kernel. I use set CPU to under clock/over clock to try to save battery but it constantly gets granted super user permission, and it will not sleep automatically. Any body know a way to fix this? Btw when I get rid of set CPU completely the battery life is worse...

Go into superuser options and turn off notifications. Problem solved!

You should not be using SetCPU with the "Infected" AnthraX kernels though. It doesnt work well. Try System Tuner or SysTune

+1 SetCPU doesn't play well with Anthrax kernels.
Thanks guys

Hey guys can any of you help me out. When I first downloaded Rom toolbox pro and went to the CPU slider I had it set to 1450 Max and 216 min. When you went to it you could see the scale go up to the Max and down to the min running full scale. Now when I go to it the number at the top will only drop down to 800 and not 216 like before.
I am running the 1.45 kernel and redpill rom
Thanks

Wrong section, please post on "Atrix 4G Q&A"
So yer saying it is running at 800 min. Have u rebooted? That has worked for me.

Sorry forgot where I was looking will preposterous there
Yes I have rebooted and it didn't work I also tried removing the app and reinstalling it that didn't work

Hey guys, I know we can underclock our CPU but has anyone found a good app to either increase the min frequency and have it actually stick? The only one I've found was System tuner by 3c but it only sticks for a bit and then either hangs or just plain doesn't work. I've found that keeping the min values at about 608mhz will stop just about all music skips for me. And yes I know this will kill my battery.

Sometimes I get lucky with ROM Toolbox's CPU settings. Set your minimum and reboot.

Oh wow. I forgot to reboot! No frills CPU is working now. Thanks for kickstarting this thing I call a brain.
Sent from my MB870 using XDA
Ok I'm getting annoyed now, no frills CPU works BUT it kills itself minutes after I leave the app. Ill set the CPU to...lets say 1ghz min and Max it will show in system panel that indeed it is staying clocked at 1ghz and not fluctuating. Then ill go do something else on my phone, for example, browse the xda forums, I come back to system panel and its fluctuating again!!! Ive tried rebooting after setting the CPU min/Max but it will still do the same thing. Ive noticed that after i exit no frills it either goes into cached processes or it just stops and acts like i killed it, any ideas?
Edit: I wanna say its a superuser hang issue, I've tried supersu but it seems to hang as well but I'm open to peoples opinions.

Are you on cm7 or Eclipse?

Weird... I use Rom Toolbox Pro > Performance > SD Boost and it works every time for me! Running CM7 with superuser....supersu hangs like a mofo for me on cm7

Just testing to see if the settings would stick after setting them, then rebooting.
Sliders did but the CPU obviously didn't.

Yep same thing I'm getting, I'm wondering if there is an init.d script that could be made that would lock it at certain frequencies. That.....is out of my knowledge
Sent from my MB870 using XDA
sorry guys
this isn't possible
no matter how you try to set the min/max with ANY unit.d script or app, it just
will not stick.
at first it well seem like it's working for a few minutes. but then something happens and the kernel basically says "no that ain't gonna happen anymore" and kicks the min/max back to where it should be (the sliders in the apps won't move, but the actual system min/max and governor will be what it is supposed to be)
trust me, I've tried this from just about any angle fire the longest time.
sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Hey guys!! I have a problem with set cpu... I had it set to 1516/384 with the profile for temp at 192/192 at 50 Celsius. It keeps just going to the temp profile and its nowhere near that hot. And ideas why or is there a better cpu program out there?
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
Ya I always used set CPU but sometimes I don't know if it worked all the time. You should try using antutu CPU master. It's on the market try it out.

Whenever I had problems with my setcpu I would uninstall and reinstall. Usually fixed the problem. U may also wanna redo your profiles or disable them to see if it's still actin up

You most likely have a performance option that came with the Custom Rom or are running an app that has System App access , which will over ride a User App. Double check all apps and settings to see if you have any other programs that have system user rights to your CPU, that is most likely what is over taking your desired settings.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'm on the Android Revolution HD 8.0 ROM now, that is probably the reason for this. Can I do something with this?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Open up the app your using to undervolt, these should be an option to restore default values. Once back on default go ahead and open the programs' App info and disable or freeze it. Reboot and run your CPU spy app and see what is taking charge of your voltage. Also possible your voltages are not sticking which has to do with the ROM. Id suggest running profiles for CPU rather then undervolt. I. E. 534 mhz - 1434 mhz when screen on, 348-1012 when screen off. SetCPU is what i use. You have less of a chance of frying the motherboard and doing irreversible damage to your phone internally
Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
Undervolt has to do with lowering the power that goes to the battery. when desired mhz occurs, where as underclocking has to do with specifically CPU processors and with a specified setting (screen off, music app on) occurring. Just to clear up my previous post. Undervolting the battery use to do wonders on phones a few years back because of all around poor battery life on most devices. But nowadays it is pretty pointless.

The only app that seems to work properly with Sense stock kernel is Tegra Overclock.
