STOP TRYING TO USE ROM MANAGER.......it is worthless for the fascinate and does not work properly. Install everything manually. I taught myself how to root and install custom roms and kernels by simply using google. I have no problem helping people as long as they are trying at least to figure out the basic stuff first by reading.

This!! Although I did get rom manager to work once, but it would only work on imnuts pbj kernal with cwm 4.0.1.8 or whatever it is. I too learned how to root/rom by using google lol. When I first got my fassy back in april, I typed "How to root Fascinate" and popped up a link to a youtube vid with directions...bam it was on like donkey kong lol!

[Q] Stuck with "Please Restart Your Device" - Unbrick won't work

16gb Nook Tablet. Internal NookOS has never been messed with. I've been running CM7 from the SD card. The CM7 crashes a lot because of my SD card and apparently that's messed up the NookOS and now I can't boot back into the internal. I've tried the step-by-step Unbrick from the thread here and that didn't work. It keeps going back to "Please Restart Your Device...".
Any ideas?
I am of no help but can offer one thing
hey I am having a similar problem, mine nt stopped working (spontaneously started trying to factory restore and failing over and over) then I booted off sd, cm7 for a while.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743884
You might want to keep an eye on the topic I posted today as well see if anyone has some help
Thanks. I thought about piggybacking on your thread, but then I decided against it. We are having similar problems. I guess we should keep an eye on each others threads.

Please tell us what you tried. .
I would recommend a CWM Recovery placed onto a ( good ) spare SD Card and boot it up ( from an 'off' condition ) by plugging in the power to the usb port.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21895025&postcount=14
.
or how about a "a clockwork mod backup of stock rooted" ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1495869
.
And thoroughly read and ask questions. The worst thing to do is NOT ask a question.
Thanks for replying. This is what I tried...

ah, and did you read this thread ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610682
it was at the top of a google search.
I did check that out. Since it involved having rooted the internal and using CWM I kinda figured it might not apply to my situation.
I'm going to try the Ubuntu method. I'm downloading the image now. I didn't realize it's over a gig! Gonna take a few hours.
Any alternate links? This one is slow as heck.
I have read several times that the 'Ubuntu Method' does not work if you got bad ( goofed up ) partitions.

Isn't that the method you recommended before? Any other advice?
Edit: I suppose you didn't recommend it, you just pointed me at that thread. Not trying to insinuate you gave me bad advice.

Confirmation of them Epics Cwm v4 on T mobile?

Hey guys, I'm looking for anyone that can confirm Odin flashing team epics Cwm version 4 to our T mobile gs3, and it is in fact able to read and write to the external SD card? I've also read that you must power off the device afterwards and reflash a root zip? Wondering if this is necessary since I'm already rooted? All of the variants being in one forum can be confusing as hell, and so is the way Samsungs put blocks on our external sd card write abilities? Errr... Things can be a little frustrating with these changes & the combining of forums, and it makes me triple & quadruple check things before I make any moves! Lastly, if anyone from the T mobile gs3 has successfully tested team epics Cwm, did you run into anything funny I should maybe have a heads up about?
Thanks in advance for the feedback guys, I'm trying to play things safe as I've seen a lot of ppl jump first, and ask questions later... Lol, it came back to bite alot of them in the ass too!
Never mind guys, I went ahead and Odin flashed it and all is well. Anyone doing it, just make sure you first put the team epic root zip in your storage prior to odin flashing, or you will lose root after a reboot, I dont recall that from flashing recoverys in the past, so I thought Id just remind anyone who sees this...

[Q] moved items to sd card problem.

Hello all. I recently got my SanDisk class 10 64gig sd card and I moved everything that was on my internal memory to the external. Now I've noticed that all my s note stuff isn't appearing when I open the app. I've already figured out a fix for other apps such as browser downloads and such but I don't see an option to change the directory in s note. Anyone have any tricks?

I don't think you can just toss everything on your card like that because not all apps will work natively from the sd card like you used to be able to do with previous versions of Android.. You would have to run a mod to get your sd card to be set as internal and vice versa... Check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772234 :good:
I haven't rooted this thing yet. I haven't seen a reason to buy this may be it. Any one have it working for the note 2?

There are several people that have it working and there is even a rom that has it built in... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055073 but you WILL need to be rooted to pull this off. Hope that helps :good:
Thanks bro. Have to relearn the whole process again coming from a nexus lol

Hey shojus, thanks for help and the links. Can you confirm that this works on the Verizon version of the Note 2 specifically? I ask because I'm really nervous about flashing my phone too much and possibly bricking it. I'm actually very tech savvy, but this is my first jump into rooting an Android phone. Here's the basic scoop:
I need more space so I rooted my phone so I could employ a memory mod to give myself more room for apps. I first attempted using directory bind, but that didn't seem to work. It DID bind apps to my external sd, but there were several issues popping up (apps that refused to load, and more importantly the actual directory bind app was glitching). I ended up ditching that method and thought I'd look into a memory switch method, such as the one you've linked to. However, after thoroughly reading up on the idea of rooting and custom roms, etc, I'm nervous about flashing the wrong rom or patching the wrong software and killing my Note 2. I have a Verizon Note 2 that I rooted using Odin and I used Bean's rom to do so. I really like Bean's rom, but I don't mind flashing to a new rom if it means I'll be able to get more memory. I may end up just flashing to the rom you linked to that has the memory-switch built in to it, but I really do like Bean's rom, so I'd rather find a way to get the memory switch done while still running Bean's rom, if that's possible. If not, can I just jump from Bean's rom (like I currently am) into that other custom rom that has the memory-switch built in?
Thanks for the help!

[Q] Another, "I'm new to the NT" thread...

First off, thanks to all the devs for making this NT awesome...(and other devices, of course) Just want to get that out of the way. :good: :highfive:
I just got the NT from a 1saleaday deal for really cheap a month or so ago, knowing the dev community has made it awesome. And now, I'm getting around to opening the box, and before i set it up, i turned it off, to do some good ol' XDA research. And, oh boy, I've read a lot.... And, I'm seeing this NT being a new beast. Almost overwhelming...
And before i ask a few questions, just want to mention I've had 5+ android phones with TONs of flashing and modding done to them. I normally don't have any issue, and never ask questions, always research and contribute...
SO, with that said: Normally with android phones, What I'm used to is: Root, flash recovery, flash rom, bam, new hawtness. It's usually a simple process, to me... This NT seems to have a lot more to it...
Now my main question is: Do i really need to use an SD card to flash a recovery and CM10.1? I havn't even set this thing up, (let alone care about what is on it...lol) Is there a way i can just use the root methods found on the forum transfer the files to the NT, flash a recovery, and in that recovery flash a rom, all on just the internal memory? (I guess there needs to be partitioning as well... Where would that come in? Probably before the rom flash...) Or does the BN software/bootloader make this difficult on the NT?
I guess I'm looking for just a run down for my situation, where i don't need a backup of the BN software or anything on the tablet, because i just want a sweet tablet with CM10... :fingers-crossed:
Thanks a ton for looking!

Congrats on your NT.
Now to your question,
No, you do not have to use the SD recovery method, but its really safe to keep a bootable recovery, that doesn't need any key persses or prompt to enter recovery.
Also having a bootable recovery , you can bypass the stock rooting, recovery flashing etc and directly get to flashing rom. So I'd suggest this. Even a 1gb (or maybe even smaller card) will do.
I personally feel partitioning is unnecessary.

Maybe you can do it another way, but WHY?????
That's what makes the NT so "mod-friendly": that you can do so much via sd-card.
If you want to repartition and the BN partitioning scheme (8 GB user space) is OK for you but you don't have store nearby, burn "repart.img" to sd and run it before rooting.
Burn another image and use that for rooting and flashing an updated recovery.
Start up to that updated recovery and flash your ROM.
Easy peasy!
First off, thanks for the responses. Last night i hit the NT head on, and am a proud owner of a NT w/ CM10.1  I'm REALLY impressed with how it runs 4.2.1. It pretty equal to my Nexus 7 (Hisssss lol..)

Haha, I guess I'm just used to all my Nexus gear thats had no SD card slots, using an SD card is just awkward now. I had to end up pulling out my old netbook to image the cards, lol. But all is good on the NT now. I put CWM6 on the eMMC, and flashed CM10.1, couldn't be happier. It was stable enough, I ended up setting it up for the Girlfriend and calling it her Christmas gift. Smoooth.. lol.
Glad you got it set up! And yes, CM10 is so smooooth running on these babies!!

[SOLVED] [Q] Possible Soft Bricked Note

Hello all, I am looking for a little advice. I'll give as much backstory as possible:
I used the cyanogenmod one click installer, everything went well. Since the one click installer put twrp on I went and put clockworkmod on since im more familure with it. Everything fine restarted and phone worked however after I installed (attempted to install facebook messeger) the device rebooted and would not come back on. Sat for 5 mins vibrating over and over and over. Its not completely dead I am able to get to recovery and to download mode and believe I just had a bad download/install. Since i have Clockworkmod on here, I am thinking I could just install the most up to date stable rom available but I have a question:
How do I put the rom zip files on phone if phone wont come on.
Any advice towards this would be appreciated.
First off, where did you find a cyanogenmod one click installer? Possibly that was not meant for the I717.
Don't you have an external micro sd card? Place the card in your computer and copy the ROM zip to it. Put it back in your phone and use it to flash.
