[Q] How can I get a SIM for this Streak? - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This Streak 5 (unlocked, but formerly AT&T) works perfectly on 2.2.2. I bought it with no SIM in it.
I'd like it to make some calls, but definitely do NOT want a contract. I bought a GoPhone, but the SIM is of the larger sort, and the pattern is different. I carefully cut it down in accordance with a template found online, but the phone doesn't recognize it.
How can I get this Streak to do phone-like things?
Thanks!

[Q] Not sure about the Dell Streak

I currently use the iPhone 4 and never owned any android devices. I have been researching on Google but could not find anyone with the same questions:
1. If I get the Streak unlocked from Dell, can I swap my sim card between the two devices without AT&T locking me out or discontinuing my unlimited plan? Will I get 3G on the Dell?
2. I heard that the 2.2 update has flash working... I only want flash on the Streak to allow me to access my Marvel unlimited subscription (which does not work on my iPhone). Will the Streak successfully be able to display and navigate through digital comics without crashing or being too slow?
If anyone can please help me with answers, that would seriously help me become a convert from the iPhone to Android! I really hope it works!

The iPhone4 uses a micro SIM and the Streak uses a mini SIM. You would have to use an adapter to use your current SIM in the Streak. Yes you will get 3G on the Streak.
The Streak does not have the N band for WiFi.
As long as you go from smart phone to smart phone the unlimited data is supposed to stay on your account. I do not know if the iPhone has a 'special' data plan (like the Blackberries). AFAIK there is no reson for it to, unlike the BBs which use the RIM servers.
Someone may be able to help with your flash question if you can point them to a sample video for them to test.
Edit: SIM info based on reading from the web. I have no actual experience with an iPhone.
As stated above, you'll need a sim adapter to use your iPhone's microsim in the Streak - about $2 on ebay. Once you have the adapter, the iPhone's microsim works fine in the Streak.
I use my iPhone's unlimited data plan with my Streak with no problems. (I switch back and forth between the two phones pretty often - no issues with AT&T.)
I'll give you a relatively uninformed answer to your Marvel question -- I am not a comics' guy and my sole experience with the Marvel site was over the past three minutes as I looked at a sample comic to answer your question.
It didn't really have a problem loading the Flash content, but I'm not sure it would be an enjoyable experience to try to use it to regularly read comics. The 5" screen is huge for a phone, but tiny for a comic book - it seemed really hard to read the text.
Again - that's my novice opinion.
Good luck!
Thanks for both of your answers!! I had an ipad but gave it to my wife - it was pretty good overall, but lacks flash. I just tried to access a free digital comic from the Marvel.com digital subscription site on someones Sprint Evo 4G, and it seemed to work, but it was a little slow to respond to my screen taps, and it ultimately went to a grey screen with an exclamation point in the middle. I do not mind the screen size, especially compared to my iphone 4, a 5" screen is a great compromise between an ipad and an iphone, but still pocketable. I think I may go for it.
You may be able to try one in person at a Best Buy store to see if the site you are interested in works for you.
I will probably do that tonight. I wonder if most switchers from the iphone 4 to the Streak are satisfied in the long run? I really like the iphone ease of use and the gaming on it, but also would prefer a larger screen.
I swap my micro sim from iphone 4 to my Dell Streak almost weekly. You do not need an adapter. In fact, it is more difficult to use an adapter. Just line the SIM up correctly and away you go.
I swap when I want to use the Dell's mobile hot spot and google's navigation software.

[Q] Atrix Unlock Code (22314992) from AT&T does not work

Very fustrating situation for about 10 weeks now.....
My Atrix is a "Motorola" one, and not with any AT&T logo. I bought it brand new from Amazon over 2 months ago. With help from the XDA-Developers forums, I first unlocked the bootloader, then I upgraded from 2.2 to 2.3.4 Gingerbread (4.5.91). I then rooted the phone so I could install apps that require a rooted phone such as Titanium Backup Pro. All these procedures went very smoothly.
This was over 2 months ago before Motorola released 2.3.4. I did open a Motoblur account and thru Blur I loaded software back into the phone thru Google. Everything works with my Atrix except for making phone calls, I more recently did a "factory reset", then sent it back to the Motorola repair facility, and now it is there again for a 3rd time.
I have an AT&T GoPhone account. When the phone boots up with an AT&T SIM card installed, it goes to the "SIM Network Unlock Pin" request screen. I have worked with both Motorola and AT&T tech support personnel for many, many hours to get my Atrix to accept the unlock code I have been given from AT&T (22314992). The Atrix response is always "Network unlock pin unsuccessful".
The phone otherwise works beautifully after a fastboot cold boot (wi-fi, program installs & usage, etc). But one simple problem...I can not make phone calls.
Motorola Case #110908-002725
WIth both AT&T and Motorola techs we have tried 5 different SIM cards, 2 post-pay accounts, and 1 GoPhone account. The phone is presently with Motorola for the 3rd time. This time I am requesting them to test my Atrix with a GoPhone SIM card and for them to attempt to unlock the phone. I asume that the first 2 times they only reinstalled software. Unfortunately, Motorola will not let me communicate directly with their repair department.
I strongly desire to maintain my GoPhone account for my Atrix. I should not be required to have a post-pay account. I now think that the problem is not simply a SIM card problem. Perhaps at this point Motorola should replace my Atrix with a new one.
Suggestions please???
If you bought it directly from Motorola / ATT (as in - if you phone has warranty) and they can't get it to work even with ATT, they should replace it.
If your purchased it without warranty you are SOL.
OP
Did you ever get your Motorola Atrix unlock code to work?
I have a Motorola Atrix that came with 2.3.4 GB and it will not accept the unlock code.
Awaiting your reply.
I got mine from Ebay and the dealer sent me an unlock code with it and no problem when I entered it...I tried with a Tmobile sum and it worked sans 3g.
Maybe its the wrong code they
gave to you by accident

My Atrix Was Replaced by Motorola
The Motorola repair facility got in a large shipment of new Atrix cellphones this past Monday. They started distributing them to those individuals who were having serious repair problems (rather than repairing the old ones). I got mine this morning and I can now finally make phone calls. Now I have to figure out again how to root my Atrix so I can use Titanium Pro again to load my backup files into my new Atrix.

[Q] How to unlock Dell Venue SIM Network Locked

I took my Dell Venue to an ATT agent to unlock it. That dumb agent tried more than 10 different codes and now I have my Dell Venue displaying that my device has been network SIM locked and asking me to take it to the carrier to be unlocked but none (ATT and Dell agent) can fix the issue. My Dell is no longer prompting a request to enter a code. Anyone has any idea how to fix this issue?
I'd imagine you complained to at&t after fumblefingers took 10 tries?
For featurephones the normal course is to call the maufacturer and tell them this, they'll tell you to mail it back or something and they'll unlock it with special tools. I'd imagine it's the same with smartphones.
I have had AT&T unlock my phones for me over the phone without any problems. If you are paid up and have been a customer for more than 3 months (or something like that) they should do it for you.
Call 611, tell them you are going on vacation to Europe, and that you would like your phone unlocked. They require you to add at least basic international roaming (which should be free) to your account also.
AT&T was able to unlock two Blackberry's and another older phone for me using this method.
Normally calling and getting the code is what you do, he took it to an at&t shop (i think) and got it in person, but the guy managed to get it wrong 10 times which in most devices (including this one) renders it unlockable by the user.
You need to get the manufacturer to apply special tools to it to either: reset the lock count or unlock it anyway.

[Q] Is my Canadian "4G" tab sim locked?

Hi, I recently won a galaxy tab 10.1 "4G" in a contest from Ipos-Reid and was wondering if there is any way to tell if the tab is sim locked? I'm assuming the "R" in the model number of "GT-P7500R" would stand for Rogers, but since the poll was from Fido it would seem odd to give out a prize that wouldn't really work on that network.
Anyways, is there a way of telling if this tabblet is sim locked *with out* opening the box, since I plan to flip it on Ebay?
(the full model number is GT-P7500R and the SW-VER is UXKH4 if that helps anything)
Yes the GT-P7500R is locked to the Rogers Network (may work with FIDO I don't have a Fido sim card to check)
I unlocked my GT-P7500R a month ago using network unlock code, but suddenly it's relocked itself today and no longer accepts the network unlock code. Not sure how this happened (it's stock).
So if you sell it I'd personally sell it as locked to Rogers to cover your butt from a Paypal charge back incase the buyer wants to use it on another network. And given that mine suddenly relocked itself I wouldnt sell it as unlocked just incase Rogers is somehow locking the devices again using some odd method.
I have a few friends interested in buying a couple more. CL and kijiji are pretty easy. Even though they are listed 300-460 the average sell is 320-375 for sealed and locked units. (I've personally bought 5 units so far one open at 320, the rest sealed 3 at 365 and one at 380)

[Q] How do I get a micro sim for T-Mobile Monthly 4G

Hi, so I currently have T-Mobile Monthly 4G with a regular sim card.
I am planning on buying the GS3 outright. Has anyone done this yet? How did you go about obtaining a micro sim-card?
I just called M4G c/service and they said to go into a t mobile store and purchase one. Problem is, when I got this 4g Plan in the first place, tmobile had no idea what it was, and the only way they could sell a sim card was to activate a phone. So I had to order it from tmobile.com...problem there is, there is no way to order a micro sim, only reg. sim.
I would hate to use a cutter. With my luck it'll split in half, or I have the bigger contact sim.
Any input would be great. Thanks!
My store cut my payg sim down so I could use it. The cutter had a paper stapler style to it. It looked painless to be honest.

1. You can cut your current normal SIMCard
2. I believe you can get one free of charge from your telephone company (I received mine for free, O2 Germany)
