Is this normal? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I downloaded wolfs newest update 4.0.4 for the stock kernel. I plugged my phone into computer via usb. I set the phone for usb storage. I copied the file over to my sd card. I then rebooted my phone and in the process unplugged from usb cable.
It decided to not load into the os. Would stick on the sony ericsson boot screen no matter what i did. Finally i plugged it back into the usb and it booted right up. Has anyone else come across this and/or is that supposed to happen?

You need to use flashtool to flash his ROM onto your phone. You also need baseband 71.
Just follow the directions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192988

Ive been running his rom since he released it, perfectly fine. With 71 baseband and new kernel. Read my full post please, it was about a usb problem, not anything to do with the rom was using just clarifying what I was doing before it happened(downloading the update) thats all. Thanks anyways!

I misread your problem. My bad.
Try to enter xrecovery and then you need to flash install the update from there.

No i stated i figured it out, i had to plug it back into the usb to boot up. At the SE screen it would freeze, thus not allowing me to get to xRecovery. Everything is fine now, I just wanted to see if anyone ran into a similar problem.

Did you forget to unmount("eject") the sd card from the computer or turn off usb storage?

[Q] Please Help!!

I'm a little stuck here and I'm not sure how this happened. I'm using a rooted X10a. I tried installing XRecovery and BusyBox so I could change ROMs again (I've tested a few) and somewhere along the way somthing happened and now after the phone boots, it doesnt recognize the SD Card, there is no notification/status bar and an Force Close message pops up "Process system is not responding". Then after a few minutes, it reboots itself. I've finally be able to connect it to Droid Explorer. The normal "holding the back button while plugging in the data cable" is not putting the phone into flash mode. I'm at my wits end, as I have been dealing with this for 2 days. Please if anyone has any ideas, any help would be appreciated. I really miss my Android
Conflict caused by double install of busybox? Or are you entirely sure it wasn't installed anymore? What happened to me was, I totally forgot that I already had busybox installed (though, not visible) and what happened was it conflicted with the other busybox/xrecovery hence breaking xrecovery and giving me almost the same symtoms you are experiencing. Unfortunately for you, I was able to just get into flashmode.. I take you tried SEUS?
What rom are you on ?
Sounds like you have messed up your xrecovery path.
Once you install xrec you dont need to install busybox as it depends on a certain version. I sugest you read z's xrecovery thread for more answers.
Hope you get it sorted.

Yes, but since the SD card won't mount because I have no notification bar it won't connect properly

you broke the xrecovery dude cause you installed again xrec and busybox...
if you install 2.2 above dont re install xrec again..
flash again (clean flash) take off your battery for 30 sec and put your usb cable in phone and hold the back button then insert the battery..
gudluck..
Is there by chance another way to put it in to flash? Plugging in the usb cable, then holding the back button while putting in the battery will not work

open the flashtool click flash, select firmware click ok.
then do again my instructions above.
I click "Flash" in the flash tool but when I go to select the firmware, it does not show up where I put it. Do i need a certain format of file?
You have to download the firmware and flashtool from here. To get the phone in flash mode follow X10b directions
i had the exact same problem in wolfbreak's 2.2 rom after i installed busybox again, it wouldn't flash with flashtool, etc, what i did to fix it was after it was booted, i opened flashtool and connected the usb, and after it said process system not responding i pressed wait, then clicked on flashtool install root, next to flash button, it installed and then it rebooted, then after it rebooted, i clicked on ask root perms, then the superuser thing popped up and i pressed allow, then quickly i clicked on flashtool install xrecovery, and it installed!!! Then I rebooted and xrecovery worked, so I restored a nandroid backup I had and then my phone was back to normal
I had this problem after editing chargemon in windows. Copy the chargemon from recovery.zip using adb push, then chmod 06755. Thats work for me

[Q] Oops, I've used format/system ... :-)

Hi guys,
I've got a big problem, I've used "format/system" in xRecovery and now when I reboot, I'm only getting the Sony Ericsson logo. I did a backup on SDcard but I'm a Mac user so I've used Crossover to use SEUS and try to restore. The problem is the phone isn't detected, only the green LED is turn on but nothing happen on the Mac...
I'm gonna try on PC, but if you can help me ... it will be great !!
(Sorry guys for my english, but I'm a french student who spend more time on his X10 than in english class !)
I think you use flashtool and flash a 2.1 firmware
Flash Tool
2.1 Firmware can also be found in the flashtool post.
Can you use xRecovery after this problem?
If so, why don't you restore the backup that you have made ?

I think the format erases the xrec. In this case, as the colleague up there told him flashtool is the solution.

same problem here but i have tried flash tool many time.what shall i do?
Hi jojooo89,
I suppose crossover might not help you in flashing even thought it might detect the phone after some tinkering.
flashing works only on windows either throught SEUS or flashtool...
the reason being usbflash.dll is only on windows.

If you can still get into x-recovery, you could try mounting your SD card, copying over a ROM and then installing it with x-recovery

This is not true. In 'Partition Tools' there is a 'Format System' option that formats everything including the system files/folders. Since XRecovery files are in the 'System' folder using this option removes XRecovery. There is a warning in the XRecovey thread to never use this option without having another system image to replace it with.
I would assume based on that warning though that there is some way to replace the system but thats a question for Z.

system format, cannot flash
Hey everyone!
I have a huge problem. I tried to update my OS from cm10 5.1 kernel v16 to cm10 8.1 kernel v18.
I used system format, and when I start my phone it just showed me CM10 logo.
I tried to flash to stock verision, somehow I managed it, but now SE logo on my phone, and I can not flash again, because when I flash my phone it's starting itselfs automatically, so the flashing stops
Could someone help me? I hope you could understand what I wrote.
Thanks

Go to HERE and download Flashtool 0.4.2.0, with it, you can root, install xrecovery and unlock bootloader, if you wish.
You need have android 2.3.3, and don´t downgrade kernel.
If you want, install stock firmware.
It´s easy.
right, so do i just click install recovery?
because i rooted it, exactly like that, im running busybox version 1.8.4 or something like that, someone told me it automatically installed xrecovery when i rooted it... is this true? thanks
When you root phone with flashtool, it just root your phone. For install xrecovery you need click on install xrecovery, and when it over, you have xrecovery installed.

Yes, you click the install recovery button. And no, when you root your phone, xrecovery is not added.
A little reminder also, you will never break the x10 by flashing to many times. So every time you run into something like accidentally downgrading kernels, just flash stock FW and start over. Again, the only true way for someone to permanently damage the x10 is only by damaging the USB port. So hold dear to that little port.
Hope you resolve your issue brah. Peace
is there anyway i can run flashtool and get it to recognise my phone without having to flash kernels?
and great, ill do that when i get in. if your on about 1700 gmt time, thatd be great.

[Q] First phone mod and FAIL!!!

Need some ideas on where to go next.
*Phone: Samsung Vibe (T959) running Froyo 2.2 stock
*Rooted with Super One Click
*Ran backup with Tit BU
*Ran the 3e fix to get rid of e sig requirement
*Tried to install the Voodoo lagfix and it went through all the "normal" steps including the computer woman talking me through everything and then....
it just keep booting back into Android system recovery <2e>:
Final entry is:
--Appling Multi CSC...
Installing Multi CSC
I've rebooted 10 times..reinstalled packages 10 times and nothing.
Removed Batt, Sim and SD and also tried restarting and reloading packages....still it just boots back to recovery.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Is your phone a 4g
No it's 3G.
Hm, if you can find a way to mount your internal sdcard, you should flash the update.zip that gives you clockworkmod recovery, then from there, flash the kernel again. (voodoo lagfix)
The market has sgs kernel flasher, any 2.2 modded kernel will give you the proper cwm.

Thanks, yeah but one issue I have is my USB cord is really sketchy and it's a ***** to get it to connect. Otherwise I'd just ODIN to stock JFD and start over.
I finally got it connected to run the 3E fix and thought I was home free since I could just flash ROMS from my SD card going forward. Who knew the first one I tried would sink the ship...LOL!!!

Just to be clear...I don't believe the cable itself is bad, I believe the micro USB connector on the device is bad...I make that assumption based on using 3 seperate micro USB cables all with the same result...but maybe, hopefully, I'm wrong.
I've also tried multiple PC's with both XP and Win 7 on them.
Thanks.

[Q] xperia go freeze

Hello. I just rooted my phone but I guess these screwed up. But well, I rooted the phone and then install the cwm. Thought I enter in the cwm and erase everything to install the new rom. My computer didn't recognize the usb storage so I reboot the phone. Something I shouldn't do... So the phone freeze on the sony screen and can't get to the cwm again.
Can someone have an idea how to solve this issue? Thanks
