[Q] Want to flash Wolf's gingerbread ROM v4 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I want to flash my X10i with a custom ROM, but I'm a big time noob. I have been digging these forums for the past 2 hours as to what to flash and how. Decided to flash Wolf's TW Gingerbread 2.3.3 v 4.0.4. But I'm not sure how to go about this.
My phone stats:
model number x10I
firmware version 2.1
baseband version 2.1.54
kernel version 2.6.29
build number 2.1.A.0.435
I haven't done ANYTHING with my phone yet. It is not locked with any carrier, or whatever you call it. I bought the phone. Please let me know how to go about this. I have downloaded the below from wolf's post.
Wolf_GB_2.3_TW_V4.zip for Baseband 71 (The ROM itself!)
FTF bundle (2.3.3 kernel and baseband .71)
Much appreciated!

..JusT Try 2 Help..
You better UpDate your 2.1 X10i with PC Companion/SEUS to GB 2.3 first DuDe..
After that download a Flash Tool and follow TuT carefully from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196808
Try it and let me know if you've any problem..

If your phone is 2.1, you can easily root it so you can install xrecovery 0.3.
Search the Flashtool tutorial; root and install xrec and then you just have to install Wolf's package trough xrec

need help

How did you installed xrecovery ?
Did you used the recovery .apk installer?
Follow this process...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
1. download flashtool from above link.
2. connect you phone in the flash mode (back button pressed)
if needed use this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
3. root the phone again (follow the instructions in the flash tool exact way)
4. install xrecovery using the flash tool
Please report back if this fixed your issue...
Also, FYI... in order to flash 2.3 you need to even flash the 2.3 baseband and kernel... Just follow the dev's instruction (better use wolf ROM)...

But ur phone is rooted right?
Open flash tool in ur comp.
Just connect phone (not in flash mode, just the normal mode).
Flash tool will detect your x10.
Just hit the button "install recovery".
this will install/repair ur xrecovery.
Please try and let me know if this worked...

Yes ! Whatever the steps he mentioned are all needed to be followed.
Also do a batery stats wipe as well, as it will solve a lot of problems in the future.

My personal experience:
Had WB 3.5
When 4.04s came out, did update to 4 and then to 4.04.
But had issues with Titanium Backup etc., etc. Kind of not so fast ROM it was.
Did backup everything, formatted sdcard etc.
Flashed 2.1 Generic
Upgraded with SEUS to 2.3.3
Rooted
Then did 4.0 and 4.04 updates
Did reinstall from market needed software, not restore with Titanium Backup (except some, unrelated to system).
NOW it runs superfast and supersmooth! I figure - thats how it was supposed to run. No ANY issues at all.
P.S. My battery holds 3 full days with normal usage.

does anyone have issues with lag when using live wallpapers

hi There
PLEASE HELP ASAP I THINK IV BROKE MY BELOVED X10
Im new to all this Mod stuff and i have no experience at ....... But I LOVE this Theme i found , its amazing!!!!!! so i rooted my phone using super oneclick, i then found RECOVERY, also got the theme [X.Gbread for 2.1 Official ROM 2.0.2.A.0.24 + Battery Circle] [new-v0.6]
Installed everything it all and was great!! everything went smooth, but some things were missing on the theme like the new swipe button, the wallpaper, the new clock etc so...... i then installed a previous version [X.Gbread for 2.1 Custom ROM AOSP], thinking that version had the bits i needed and the later version i installed first was a add-on, and now the phone will not boot up, it gets past the Sony Ericsson but wont boot past the Nexus S Bootanimation, then it restarts itself, and starts all over again, i dont know what to do as i know NOTHING about flashing phones. PLEASE HELP
Phone specs - what i had before
X10i
2.1 Update1
build no. 2.0.A.0.504
Rooted with SuperOneClick
Also busybox
Many Thanks
Leon
************* update i can get the phone to the Xrecovery screen, ive tried reinstalling both of the themes but it gets to the lock screen and when the lock comes off, a box comes up with a triangle exclamation mark on it that says 'Weeks' on it and underneath it says "year" with a button that says "%1$s %2$s" and when you press it nothing happens apart from sometimes the writing year changes to years, after a minute it reboots and does the same thing.
does anybody know how i could sort this out???
Have i 'bricked' the phone?? if so what does that mean and can i sort it?? would i be able to send it in for repair??
or how i could i flash i back to the original SE theme, with out it starting up????
hopefully somebody can save me because at the moment i have not got a phone and i love my x10 sooooo much!!!!!!
i knew i should have just left it alone!!!!!!!!
Thanks Leon
i would recommend you to do
1. a full wipe using the recovery
2. re-install the theme u wanted. (perhaps u should re-download the theme u wanted)
btw, did u install using the option "install custom zip"?
if those above does not helps,
1. re-install the firmware using SEUS or flashtools from Bin4ry
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825201&highlight=flash.
2. root it and install xRecovery and then install the themes u wanted.
You'll have to really flash. The problem here was that you mixed up to FW (.24 & .504) when you installed the first theme... it clearly says for which version it is my friend....
So reflash to any ROM you want but check first the theme you're aplying and also if you have Xrecovery do a backup before any Mod so you don't have to reflash again...
Have fun you're not the first nor the last with this I've been there done that more than once....

I believe for my version no. 2.0.A.0.504 it came up with the same box as before, unable to get onto my homescreen but can see it in the background.
i dont know if i will be able to reinstall the SE firmware as it looks very complicated. im in England and it looks like i would have to use the Nordic software???? im not sure please could somebody let me know of any easier way of installing SE firmware back on???

[Q] Need help! Need to reset my phone! "Phone is not working!"

Hello!
I got problem with my Xperia X10i, I don´t know what to do.
Just some few hours ago i installed:
[ROM] [29-07] TripNMiUI "Iris" 1.8.3 Froyo!
h t t p ://android.modaco.com/topic/342875-rom-29-07-tripnmiui-iris-183-froyo-heading-for-20/
And it worked perfect, But then after that i installed Free Kernel 3.63 with Xrecovery like the ROM with misstake..
Free Kernel 3.63
And now my phone wont work, It starts and works to the "lockscreen" but then after that a error message pops up and stands that the system process doesnt answer after i unlock and after that it restarts. And Xrecovery wont start after the "Sony Ericsson" text.
I dont know what to do, If my phone is broke or if this can be fixed!
But please can someone help me!? I would be Grateful forever! and sorry for my bad english!!!
- Have a great day!
Here is how you get back to 2.1
Go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Download the flash tool and the firmware you want and flash back to 2.1 and reinstall trip's miui rom.
Did you download the correct kernel for the rom you were using? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112745 has 2 froyo kernels. One for froyo and one for Miui.
Good luck my friend
1. Try flashing a normal kernel via Flashtool, seeing if this is corrected
2. Reinstall xrecovery before FC ? via Flashtool
3. Reinstall via SEUS ?
How can install something when i cant get into Xrecovery or connect my phone to the computer? .. My phone only can charge. Or is it only me doing something wrong? .. Im pressing the back button when the "Sony Ericsson" Text is shown. I dont know what to do

Again, go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Download the flashtool:http://www.multiupload.com/GYL7A7XQBT
and the 2.1 firmware:http://www.mediafire.com/?sqv6274anzfzn2x
Install the flashtool, put the firmware in the firmware folder and then follow the instructions in the thread.
This will wipe all your data and revert your phone back to 2.1. The flashtool can root and install xRecovery allowing you to install The miui rom again getting you back to where you were before you flashed the kernel.
Oh ok. ill try this! Thanks for the help. Sorry for understand directly.
Don't worry I just hope your phone gets up and running again soon!

[Q] X10 won't boot after JIT enabler installation

Hello,
I did something very stupid: I installed JIT enabler at my X10i running on rooted 2.3 Gingerbread and now my phone does not boot past the white "Sony Ericsson" logo.
If this is somehow helpful, I have XRecovery installed and I'm able to boot it. However, I haven't created a backup.
Please, help me as fast as possible, because I'm a bit desparate.
Thanks, in advance!
You mustn't use JIT on Android higher than 2.1 -
1. Cause it will make something like you have right now.
2. Android 2.3 has it in standard, so no need to use it pal .
To fix this, just flash some official ROM via FlashTool, or use PcCompanion.
Cheers mate.

[Solved] Rooting Xperia Go st27i? Serious help needed

Hi I am a complete noob, so far I only managed to unlock bootloader and it took me almost WHOLE DAY. I want to root my phone, I have no tiniest clue on how to do it for Xperia Go. There are so many methods for other phones I am getting so confused over this. People don't seem to want to help noobs out too much here I noticed, and often "use search" is being said. Well, I did use search and A LOT, still I can't even find how to get started I don't know which suitable apps I need (there's so many, I have no idea).
Model: Xperia Go st27i
Version: 6.0.B.3.184
I found this thread (Sony Xperia GO property root for 6.0.B.3.184 + CWM recovery v5.5.0.4) is this the thing I should be looking if I want to root my phone? All I see here is that he shows what commands to input, with no tutorial at all. I have no idea where to enter these commands, where to unpack files -_- nothing.
I am really hoping some good person helps me out on this one
I have given up, nobody helps me, no tutorials help and nothing works... I tried SuperOneClick for rooting, it didn't work. I tried the dos app from thread "Root MANY ANDROID!" also did not work. I did not try the link from my OP cause that thread has absolutely 0 tutorials and too much chit chatting in comments.
tl;dr nothing works for rooting my xgo
use flashtool to root if nothing works..
Try to find in sola development section
Thanx me if it helped!

- are your phone recognised by your computer after installing oficiall "Sony PC Companion" software?

Thank you so much for supporting me here, I am downloading it and will follow the instructions. One last question for now.... if I install this rom, is my phone already rooted then?
Yes, after installing v14 rom and after installing (later) memory_tweak, your phone will be up to date (mean everything needed) ! Only your last step need to be: install superuser from market (mean superuser, not super su !), and you are done! Going now to my work, will help you later if something missing

In Recovery, go to Mounts and Storage, USB Storage and select Mount. Then connect phone to pc and you can access like a pendrive

Xperia U stuck in bootloop

Hi
Always happens when you do a favour for someone......
Anyway, i have an xperia U stuck in a boot loop.
1. Ive unlocked the bootloader (that went all ok)
2. Downloaded a prerooted rom and tried to install through fastboot using command line. I couldnt get that working so i used the flashtool to install the rom that way. I renamed the rom system.img and flashed through flashtool and thats pretty where im at now....
If anyone could chip in that would be great
Thanks to anyone that does
Comfy

Hi - thanks for that - im there now - i cant seem to get it into fastboot - the green light comes on but then it carries on trying to boot - is it a timing thing - ie how long i leave the down button pressed?? or is it knackered....oh- thanks for the link as well....
drsanket_xperia_u - just to say thanks for the link - if anyone else comes across this thread i got the image reflashed - for whatever reason (and i dont know why) it was the usb cable that was the problem - i tried 3 different cables at home but the one that worked (by chance as i thought it was knackered) was a long, quite thick blackberry usb cable - just thought id say....
No ive got my rom back on there - the initial problem i had was rooting firstly....havent got to the CWM part or the rom part but once rooted i guess thats the same as most other phones.....now im reflashed is the bootloader locked again.....?
Again thanks for the link - i dont think i would have found that without your help.
Thanks for the Help!
The same happened with me as well! While trying to install JB unofficial from PIPI, I unlocked my BL which went out fine but the mistake I did was I did not copy the JB fw on to my SD-card when the phone was working. Flashed PHANTOM kernel and my phone never started up since

3. Reboot into Recovery (if you don't know how to install recovery let me know)
4. Full wipe
5. Install from SD card (first JB, then kernel)
Hope that works for you :good:

Buddy the Kernel had to be flashed first, because it contains that Recovery option and then I flashed the first copied JB stock!
Anyway, the phone is rocking since and I'm easily playing my current love Dungeon Hunter 4 with a Breeze!! although it closes down after every 10 minutes (approx) of lag-free play :-/

Well that's great. When I said flash kernel after rom I meant PHANTOM zip. Just for future reference, you have to flash boot.img via fastboot first, then go into CWM and follow the steps I posted. I forgot that first step
I think the game thing is because of RAM
Simply Flash the Factory Original Sony Firmware Once Again
