Hi
Always happens when you do a favour for someone......
Anyway, i have an xperia U stuck in a boot loop.
1. Ive unlocked the bootloader (that went all ok)
2. Downloaded a prerooted rom and tried to install through fastboot using command line. I couldnt get that working so i used the flashtool to install the rom that way. I renamed the rom system.img and flashed through flashtool and thats pretty where im at now....
If anyone could chip in that would be great
Thanks to anyone that does
Comfy

Hi - thanks for that - im there now - i cant seem to get it into fastboot - the green light comes on but then it carries on trying to boot - is it a timing thing - ie how long i leave the down button pressed?? or is it knackered....oh- thanks for the link as well....
drsanket_xperia_u - just to say thanks for the link - if anyone else comes across this thread i got the image reflashed - for whatever reason (and i dont know why) it was the usb cable that was the problem - i tried 3 different cables at home but the one that worked (by chance as i thought it was knackered) was a long, quite thick blackberry usb cable - just thought id say....
No ive got my rom back on there - the initial problem i had was rooting firstly....havent got to the CWM part or the rom part but once rooted i guess thats the same as most other phones.....now im reflashed is the bootloader locked again.....?
Again thanks for the link - i dont think i would have found that without your help.
Thanks for the Help!
The same happened with me as well! While trying to install JB unofficial from PIPI, I unlocked my BL which went out fine but the mistake I did was I did not copy the JB fw on to my SD-card when the phone was working. Flashed PHANTOM kernel and my phone never started up since
Downloading the stock FW ftf file from the links provided right now!
Thanks a lot

Yeahp just follow the steps:
1. Reflash stock FW
2. Save the kernel and Pipi's JB in the phone
3. Reboot into Recovery (if you don't know how to install recovery let me know)
4. Full wipe
5. Install from SD card (first JB, then kernel)
Hope that works for you :good:

Buddy the Kernel had to be flashed first, because it contains that Recovery option and then I flashed the first copied JB stock!
Anyway, the phone is rocking since and I'm easily playing my current love Dungeon Hunter 4 with a Breeze!! although it closes down after every 10 minutes (approx) of lag-free play :-/

Well that's great. When I said flash kernel after rom I meant PHANTOM zip. Just for future reference, you have to flash boot.img via fastboot first, then go into CWM and follow the steps I posted. I forgot that first step
I think the game thing is because of RAM
Simply Flash the Factory Original Sony Firmware Once Again

Just Google for "Unbrick Xperia U"

Sorry i am new to the forum and can't post links yet

Hi
I want to flash my X10i with a custom ROM, but I'm a big time noob. I have been digging these forums for the past 2 hours as to what to flash and how. Decided to flash Wolf's TW Gingerbread 2.3.3 v 4.0.4. But I'm not sure how to go about this.
My phone stats:
model number x10I
firmware version 2.1
baseband version 2.1.54
kernel version 2.6.29
build number 2.1.A.0.435
I haven't done ANYTHING with my phone yet. It is not locked with any carrier, or whatever you call it. I bought the phone. Please let me know how to go about this. I have downloaded the below from wolf's post.
Wolf_GB_2.3_TW_V4.zip for Baseband 71 (The ROM itself!)
FTF bundle (2.3.3 kernel and baseband .71)
Much appreciated!
..JusT Try 2 Help..
You better UpDate your 2.1 X10i with PC Companion/SEUS to GB 2.3 first DuDe..
After that download a Flash Tool and follow TuT carefully from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196808
Try it and let me know if you've any problem..
If your phone is 2.1, you can easily root it so you can install xrecovery 0.3.
Search the Flashtool tutorial; root and install xrec and then you just have to install Wolf's package trough xrec

How did you installed xrecovery ?
Did you used the recovery .apk installer?
Follow this process...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
1. download flashtool from above link.
2. connect you phone in the flash mode (back button pressed)
if needed use this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
3. root the phone again (follow the instructions in the flash tool exact way)
4. install xrecovery using the flash tool
Please report back if this fixed your issue...
Also, FYI... in order to flash 2.3 you need to even flash the 2.3 baseband and kernel... Just follow the dev's instruction (better use wolf ROM)...

My personal experience:
Had WB 3.5
When 4.04s came out, did update to 4 and then to 4.04.
But had issues with Titanium Backup etc., etc. Kind of not so fast ROM it was.
Did backup everything, formatted sdcard etc.
Flashed 2.1 Generic
Upgraded with SEUS to 2.3.3
Rooted
Then did 4.0 and 4.04 updates
Did reinstall from market needed software, not restore with Titanium Backup (except some, unrelated to system).
NOW it runs superfast and supersmooth! I figure - thats how it was supposed to run. No ANY issues at all.
P.S. My battery holds 3 full days with normal usage.

Currently have a rooted XMP SK17i that has a bootloader that I cannot unlock meaning I miss out on all of the kernels. I presume not, but does this mean that I cannot flash any kernel at all?
My main question is that since I have a locked bootloader, I need a ROM that is good on the RAM etc. Currently that is the Real ICS r5.1 which I am thinking of updating however I was wondering if anyone had any quicker ICS ROMs that were good on the CPU and RAM. Ones that are just as good on locked bootloaders as unlocked ones.
Any help is appreciated
Rom for unlocked bootloader is always better than rom for locked bootloader because it can utilize all the power of a costum kernel. I would suggest you to try Real ICS r5.2 (it's the newest version), because it has some kind of ram management script running. I am on locked bootloader too, and I use Real ICS r5.2 with no problems
Real ICS r5.2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707876
Real ICS r2 LITE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739569
Both of these work on Locked bootloader, but I would suggest you to go with the first one.
Cheers

You should be on ics first to flash it. And did you wipe all or just the necessary things? Flash the stock rom again like in this tutorial.

Okay you have cwm recovery. To flash ics roms, you should be on ics first. So just root and upgrade like explained here.
If you are on rooted ics, download the zip of the rom and copy to sd card.
Boot in cwm and select backup/resotre -> backup and back up your current rom.
Now you must look in the installation tutorial, what has to be formatted (like system or data or just do a factory reset, that's explained).
Now choose "install zip from sd card" -> "choose zip" and choose the zip file to install it. After installation normally just reboot.
Make sure before installing, you downloaded the right zip file for your phone model. If there is no specific zip to download, there should be an installation assitangt built in, called "Aroma installer". There you navigate with the volume keys and the home button to select. Just choose your phone model and that the bootloader is locked.
After that everything should be fine
Im on .42 GB firmware rotoed. Maybe thats the mistake i have done

Yes so try flashing the stock rom like in the tutorial from the link I posted. Or are you able to enter cwm? Then only restore the backup!
How do I install CWM? cause x-parts wont install it properly. I asked for root permission and I allowed it but after restart no CWM upon pressing volume down

Hi everyone
a few days ago i have unlocked the bootloader on my xperia p following the official sony instructions.
After that i downloaded and flashed the sliding xp v5 kernel
Everything worked perfect and i wanted to install a custom rom, and i thought that the vision rom would be perfect.
I installed the vision rom v2 in cwm recovery and everything seemed perfect, i like the rom and everything is good but i have a few problems :-/
First i had the problem that sometimes when the screen locks and turns off, when i press the unlock button the screen wont turn on,i can hear that the phone works when i try to take a ss i hear the soind, but the screen wont turn on until i hard restart the phone :-/
The second problem is that the phone just restarts itself randomly sometimes :-/
And the last thin is that when i go in the dialer to call someone it happebs alot of times that the phone lags a lot there and it happens often that when someobe is calling me or when i call someone that it lags and the phone freezes :-/
Can someone tell me why is this happening, because of the kernel or the rom?
and what should i do to fix it,if possible i would like to keep all the settings which i made because i allready personalized it much....
Thanks to everyone in advance

First that came in my mind is that this kernel and the rom are not for eachother - so try to flash munjeni's kernel and the rom again and try it.
Before that flash stock rom via flash tool to make clean install.

First of all the flash stock rom you need to put the ftf file in Flashtool/firmwares
Then connect the device in flashmode and flash rom (device switched off and to enter flashmode just do vol- and put usb in).
When flashing official stock rom as much as i know you will lose data, and its better to have clean install.
If you flash munjeni's kernel and the rom you want, and if you restore the back up that will flash the old boot.image too, i mean the old kernel and that is not wanted.

Hey all,
I was flashing a new rom and ran into some issues.
I have the new rom on the SD Card, but when I go into TWRP (2.2.0) and go to install,
I can not access the SD card. It shows in the tree, but it is not showing anything on it. I have accidently removed my backup by doing a wipe on everything. Am I done and have to replace it ?

You should be ok at the moment but we are going to take this one step at a time.
I need to know what bootloader you are on before we progress.
Power off the machine and hold down power down and volume down the same time for about 10 seconds until the icons appear on your screen (usb icon, wipe etc) look up the top left of your screen and there will be text with a long number at the end, it will either start with a 9 or a 10. What is this number?
Also what rom do you want to put on ?

Hmmm that is not really what I was after.. Let's try another way as I think you will be on ICS bootloader if running an old version of CM10,
Switch on machine and tell me where the Tegra logo is. If it down the bottom center it is ICS bootloader, if it is down the bottom right it is JB bootloader.

Ok, you are still on ICS bootloader.
First of all I would do the nvflash process if you haven't before. http://androidroot.mobi/t3_nvflash/ This can only be done while on ICS and once you have backed up the files created during the process you can never fully hard brick your device.
Then to get you up to the new rom.
Grab the ICS TWRP UPDATER.zip from this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34477681&postcount=5705 You will extract the zip file and run the bat file and follow the onscreen instructions to flash it. You will only ever use this once and will allow you to put the Jellybean bootloader and rom onto the external SD to flash it. Never use the file again once you have flashed the Jellybean bootloader as it will brick you. You will flash a JB version of TWRP after the JB bootloader has been installed.
After that is installed you want to go to post 2 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674827 and follow the insructions for "Upgrade Instructions for ICS"
If you wanted to install energy rom instead of Hairybean just replace the hairybean 1.51 rom in the instructions with energy rom and do the same.

When you click up on the USB icon and it says entering fastboot mode and freezes that is normal. That means you are in fastboot.
Look in device manager and see if you have any exclamation marks by anything, if you do then you don't have the drivers installed.
Get them here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426502

It doesn't matter which rom you install mate. I knew you wanted to install Energy rom when you started and it makes no difference to me.
Energy and Hairybean are both great roms and both based off stock just that Hairybean looks more like stock and Energy is themed.
Try them both and find which one suits you best
Unbrick Prime
It sounds like you have some good help here and hopefully you can get through this problem.. I just wanted to drop my two cents. Good thing to remember is to be on the latest Recovery (as you mentioned TWRP, make sure its always the latest esp. when flashing JB ROM's). Also if you can't unbrick it, head over to this thread here and here where I personally had a lot of assistance unbricking my Prime from a hard brick using nvflash. Good luck.

Somewhat similar situation. I previously rooted my HTC One X+ (Intl) with Viper X+ rom. I thought I would experiment with it as it is no longer my daily phone, and since I liked the Cyanogen experience on OnePlus One, thought i would try to install it on the HOX+.
I followed these official (?) instructions http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_enrc2b#Installing_recovery_using_fastboot, however, after getting CWM recovery on and then flashing via sideload command the ROM, I am now stuck in the CM bootloop animation and computer no longer recognises the device, and can't find anyway to get back to bootloader, recovery etc.
I did read about bootloop issues after this and some people said that the boot.imhg file should have been flashed separately (thanks CM for not including that instruction!), and somehow my computer recognised it one more time after the bootlooping started and I managed to get into fastboot to flash boot.img, but, then rebooted and bootloop again. Since then I have had no way to get back into recovery or bootloader, so it just runs until battery dies.
Should it go into the bin? Or anything else I should try?
Thanks so much for any
EDIT: Solved...I was able to get recovery back, then did full reset and followed instructions above re boot.img flash and now am back into my phone with a new lease on life and CM ROM!!
Two more noob questions if I may, now that I have my HOX+ back...
I am now running CM 10.2.1-enrc2b.
I have 3 updates available and being offered to me (upgrade to CM11 from CM10):
- cm-11-20140308-SNAPSHOT-M4
- cm-11-20140916-SNAPSHOT-M10
- cm-11-20140916-SNAPSHOT-M12
1. I downloaded and installed the latest M12, but upon rebooting it went into a bootloop for 15mins+. I then followed your instructions again to get back. So, it seems I at least need to install them in order starting from the earliest (ie M4), but before doing so I wanted to check if anyone knows if these are even compatible with my HOX+ (Intl)?
2. Which would be the best place to get the right gapps package and installation instructions (if CM can get it wrong, am now wary of someone else leaving out the critical boot.img flash step eg)?
Thanks!

EDIT: Nothing like some self-help. I am good now.

to get into bootloader, hold down the vol down and power, the home lights will flash (atleast they do when its booting), it will reboot, when you get the htc logo, let go of power button. and now try a stable er version of the rom.

ok, dont do an ota update in cm, you need s-off, which you cant get on the hox+
flash the rom, flash the boot image, boot, reboot into recovery, SIDELOAD gapps and that should work. use cm10 for the moment, as cm11 has an annoying system ui crash loop bug.
Thanks again for your clear and helpful pointers that got me out of a mess, I seem to have figured it out, downloaded the latest CM11 update and extracted boot.img for separate flashing and it all worked, then added gapps and seems working good now (except for dead touch zone from kids dropping it too many times probably!). The OTAs clearly don't work as is and CM probably should update their instructions and how they push major updates that need a new boot.img. Now to work out what to do with my spare phone...!
