[Q] Openvpn on litening - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having problems getting openvpn to work on litening rom. I've had no issues with openvpn on darky2 kh3. On litening, I'm getting an ifconfig error. Looking through things I can see there is tun support in the kernel (/dev/tun exists). Running ifconfig from a shell does show the interfaces. So it looks like ifconfig is working right. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

[Q] VPNC issue on Streak

I installed 1.6.1 on my Streak. tun.ko now comes with it and I can actually use insmod to register/test it. But VPN Client when establishing connection, just keeps trying to connect and never completes the connection.
Any help would be appreciated. Any bone is worth chasing after.
Cheers.

Are you using the vpnc gui client? If so, you need to make sure the route and ifconfig commands are working properly at the command line. I have found that the toolbox route and ifconfig don't work correctly for this client so I remove them and then make sure I have links for busybox route and ifconfig. HTH.

Yes, I am using VPNC gui (vpnc from code.google.com). But my prob is more elementary such as
if I run insmod /system/lib/modules/tun.ko, I get an {Error Execution}.
Resolved
For everyone's info, I got the problem solved. There is some kind of incompatibility between VPNC and Busybox 1.17.2. I had to downgrade to 1.17.1 and the problem has resolved.

Cisco AnyConnect for rooted devices on stock 2.2

In case someone wants to use it on stock 2.2 which does not come with tun.ko module,
use the one from steve's 1.9 rom and it will work like a charm.
Put tun.ko in /system/lib/modules, inmod tun.ko from a terminal and you are good to go (check with lsmod).

Note, need to reload after a reboot.

Hmm...I tried this, no problem downloading tun.ko, copying to /system/lib/modules and doing insmod, verified w/ lsmod.
But, when I run the AnyConnect client, I get:
Could not connect to server. Please verify internet connectivity and server address.
Any thoughts or ideas?

PS This is the same error I got before I downloaded and insmoded tun.ko.
PPS Yes, I have internet connectivity, and I've double checked and triple checked the server address.
Found this post via Google search. Just realized it's in the Dell Streak forum. I'm actually on a Motorola Atrix.
Sorry about that...

OpenVPN Problems

I have tried multiple roms/kernels which have tun functionality baked in but am having no luck connecting to my server. My same config files work fine on my Nook Color and Hero (both running CM7). Logcat throws "Cannot allocate TUN/TAP dev dynamically" Any suggestions?

OpenVPN on DextersJB v1.6?

Did anyone get openvpn working on DextersJB v1.6? Does the kernel (2.6.35.14-LeeDrOiD-HC-V2.1.0) has tun build-in? I'm trying to run OpenVPN for Android, but error out on "cannot find tun device".

[Q] Why Android Play cannot detect my wlan0 connected?

Hello.
I have an Aurora 2 tablet, with ICS.. my wifi isn't working at all, so I decided to compile drivers for a wifi dongle (AWUS036H) and I did it.. THEN using chroot ubuntu or terminal emulator (both work ok)
I
PHP:
insmod eeprom_93cx6.ko
and then
PHP:
insmod rtl8187.ko
and no problem at all. then I config the wifi using
PHP:
ip link set wlan0 down
iwconfig wlan0 essid MYESSID key mykeynumbers
sleep 10
ip link set wlan0 up
dhclient wlan0
then I try android's web browser and I'm able to surf the net at great speed and even to watch videos... unfortunately I'm not able to download anything from browser. Then I try to open market and not possible.. Android wants me to turn on my onboard card... so my questions are:
1.- how can I make android "PLAY" detect my wifi antenna?
2.- Is there a way to use the GUI button to enable my rtl8187 instead of the onboard one?
anny suggestion??? pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaase!!
thanks in advanced...
FUNNY THING I discovered.. I'm able to download using Opera or chroot ubuntu (wget) so this is really nuts :... :S
