Hell, the thing isn't worth 699 off contract, forget on contract.
Dear HTC,
Heres and idea: If you make a good product, sell it at a decent price.
From,
HTC Flyer user
I started laughing out loud at this. Mega pricing failure.

What I'm wondering is where's the WiFi version andthe 16gb version? Apparently it's $700 on contract for the 32gb 3g/4g version.

$699 on contract?! Wow, HTC really doesn't want anyone buying their tablets, do they?
Everyone wants to be Apple and get way more for their products then they are actually worth. I got a Dell Notebook from Sprint that is the same size as most Netbooks with a Core I3 processor and 3G/4G built in that I used before I got a flyer. After rebate I paid like $100 for this unit, how can they justify that much for just a tablet that cannot compare?
Pricing is AT&T Not HTC?
Seems to me like the exclusivity and premium issue is an AT&T thing, not so much HTC. $699 isn't bad for something like that unlocked, but on contract is just lunacy!
Well technically that price is AT&T's price, though off contract would probably mean that AT&T paid for a premium of the device, perhaps exclusive deals like software integration or exclusivity on the product so that you can't use it with other networks.
Wait a few months and maybe the unlocked versions will come out in Asia XD

Seriously, the price is way too high.. 600 dollars is the most I'd pay for a tablet. How many here actually bought it?
If they release it internationally, I would. Sans the contract, of course. The pricing is not too far off the 32GB iPad 2 3G, but the Jetstream has the pen AND SD slot. If this ever comes out WiFi only, I'm sure to get it.
The only real problem I see is the contract pricing from AT&T. Thats way too high for a 2-year contract.

I'm seriously contemplating it...
$699 for a 32 gig tab is more than any other Android tab out there but considering it is expandable up to as large an SD card as you want to put in it... 32g more at this point and it comes with the pen right now which is an $80 accessory.... not that bad. Also when you compare it to the same size iPad2 it is actually less money by $30 and $130 less than the 64g iPad2. I already pay $50 a month for an unlimited aircard so downgrading and then pimping off my Android phone for additional airtime when not on wifi will take care of that.

I agree with you.... I had a Dell Streak 7 and an iPad WiFi + 3G 64GB. I sold both of them and got this tablet and I haven't looked back. I love it, just needs to be rooted. I was paying $25 for the 2GB iPad plan, changed it to the $35 3GB plan - service discount = $28 and change. so for a few bucks more a month it was worth it.
- Dan
It's only $50 more than the 32GB GT 10.1 LTE on VZW and AT&T's data plan is cheaper. The GT 3G I'm importing from the UK is actually more expensive. They all get pricy once you include a data connection.
Yep,despite all the hype that it was outrageously pricey, I didn't see a glaringly high difference than the iPad 2 in price, and I like the way it feels.
I would like to see it rooted and get a decent case for it, though....
Its a sweet tab. I bought it, love it. Price wasn't an issue as the jetstream has all the features I want. This is much better than the iPad
I wont pay that much for it, specially because I don't use the internal connection..
I like it but I'll wait for a wifi only version, or for att finally realize is to expensive and decrease the price..
It's funny to me so many sites, people, articles, etc...getting stuck on the price. Yes, it's expensive! It's almost the same price as the Xoom was, and the ipad 2 (depending on type and version of course).
I'm very impressed thus far with the quality of this tablet and what it offers for me. This is an extremely better buy (for the $ spent) then ipad, Xoom, Acer, etc in my opinion.

i wanted one but just picked up a Transformer a few minutes ago for $390 @ Best Buy. I couldn't justify the extra 300 when i could get another Transformer for almost the difference.
Jetstream
Bought, love it....not worried about the price.
Have been an IPAD user since it came out....love it but really cant do anything with it except surf the web and look at some photos.
The Jetstream is expensive but when I looked at the 64gb Ipad @ we were in the same ballpark and it lack many of the features I wanted.
PLUS, it's just like my phone. Not sure if anyone has really mentioned this advantage but it's very familiar to my rooted inspire running RC mix Kingdom 3d...
I love knowing how to use the thing out of the box...
Now, I just need to figure out how to get on my VPN at work!
You can get the Jetstream for $549 with a 2 year contract!
I ordered mine last week from AT&T. When you order the 3Gig LTE Data plan with a 2 year commitment you get the Jetstream for $549.00 before tax.

That is nice hut how you did it because I was seeing to order it online without contract and it says the prices mentioned before and it even obligate you to get a data plan?
Does the means that I could get it no contract for $699? If so, i am in.
I already bought an HTC Flyer earlier this year, which is $499 for a 16 GB, 7" tablet, plus $80 for the pen. I'm quite happy with it. If not for already owning the Flyer, I would seriously consider the Jetstream. But I'm not sure if I would get the data plan, or buy it at full retail price (and use it as a WiFi-only device).
Obviously, what you feel about the price depends a whole lot on your financial situation and personal budget. For me, spending a couple extra hundred bucks for something I really want is reasonable. I have a personal soft spot for HTC devices. For me, devices made by other manufacturers really tend to not compare to HTC's build quality. For that, I would happily pay extra. That's the philosophy I had when buying the Flyer. There are plenty of cheaper 7" tablets around. But its not necessarily a good "value" if you save some money on a tablet, but don't really like the device you bought. But of course, a lot of this depends on personal preferences, as well.
And yes, I don't even own this device, but I'm still poking around this subforum out of envy!
Hey guys I'm seriously considering purchasing it but I live in India but that can be taken care of as the US mail forwarding service I use also has a BuyForMe sub-service where they buy the product for me... but in this case since at&t requires a SSN for the compulsory cancel-anytime data plan with the no-contract offering of this tablet, I'm having a tough time getting my hands on this awesome-elegant HTC
tab. So my questions are-
1) Will the developer community at any point in time work on getting it SIM unlocked? Or is it better to wait for a version that will not be bound to AT&T?
2) If any of my dear fellow members will be so kind so as help me somehow (read: above) with getting my hands on this beauty? Can you use a friends' SSN to buy a thing for yourself?

Honestly I didnt find a fair reason to spend $350 more for the htc, plusethe GT is lighterand thin.

Nice to be an american with AT&T LTE dataplan! In russia this thing will cost at least 2000$ (after a couple of weeks of sales) and will be available in 4-6 months...
If anyone can help me with a little explanation, on how to actually buy it without dataplan (since no commitment also includes some kind of plan) and registration, i would really appreciate.
Several things this device lacks at the moment - SIM unlock, voice calls capability and S-OFF...
Give it a.little time Grayhardt.
Just thought you would like to know that the HTC Evo view 4g is selling for only $230 at 1saleaday.com/wireless. This price does not require a contract (though it is the version that you could take to sprint and get mobile connectivity with). Just for comparision's sake, Sprint is selling this for $249 ON contract, or $399 off contract (and those are pretty much the lowest prices I have found otherwise.
I hope this helps someone.

Sale is over, so it isn't that price anymore.
I will give you a bit of an idea of how much demand there is for this product. I posted this at a forum called spurstalk.com (in the subforum about tech) and I posted this here. Between the threads on the two forums only one person posted before the sale was over and it was an apple fan over on Spurstalk who went in to say that the evo view 4g was a good deal for girls.
Lots of interest in this thing. LOL

Lmao I played with one the time I went before Xmas to get a phone for my wife Xmas present I had to upgrade I honeycomb cause apparently the employees didn't have enough time 4G is strong where I live so it took like 5-unites to download the 250mb file , and is no a bad device just the price is too expensive for the size of a tablet , people can get an iPad for 500$ or a kindle fire for 200$ so htc needs to get some work done
I picked one up for about the same price at an earlier sale a few weeks ago. If what you're looking for is basically a reading and Web browsing device, this thing's actually pretty worthwhile. Far superior to my Kindle Fire, for instance. Better screen contrast, smoother page turns, nicer hand feel. And quite snappy and responsive, despite the single core processor (honestly, I'm not sure I buy into the dual-core hype for this category of devices). I'd never have paid the original $400 asking price, of course, but for $230 this was a more than decent value.
Thanks for sharing

This device is definitely worth every penny even at those prices.
Pretty sure Best Buy should have dropped them down to compete with the Nook and Kindle even though this Tablet is soo much better.
I'm glad I upgraded from the Original Nook Color.

This wonderful tablet is a victim of marketing.
Dual core craze is all the rage. I opted to pay 50$ more over the nook tab because I know the 1.5 single core provided a lot of competition for anything you want on a tablet...
This tablet is a hidden gem and it is a shame to see it discontinued. I had to jump through hoops for mine though.
RIP Flyer. This tablet is the only tablet that plays Yoo Ninja without lag.
Their are many Android tablets but their is only one HTC Flyer. Don't despair HTC is going to release a tegra 3 based tablet with the HTC Scribe tech in it

Pardon my ignorance here but "discontinued" does not mean that HTC has officially dropped support for the tablet? It only means that Best Buy is not selling it anymore?
I think it's because T-Mobile and Sprint are selling their Versions of this Tablet. I I got the one from Sprint (HTC EVO View 4G), and waiting for my E-Bat purchase to get here. I Got it for $274 and Free Shipping. I Should have it by Sat. WorstBuy ONLY cares about the Apple products and 10" Android Tablets.
I also think once the Nook Tablet and Kindle Fire came out they decided against ANOTHER 7" Device. Plus the still sell the Playbook (which I Have too). The HTC EVO View just got Honeycomb as well within the last couple of days.
Can't US citizens still buy it from european stores that ship to the US anyway?
I didn't realize it was discontinued, I guess that explains the $299 price I saw at BBY today. I am on the fence between the Flyer vs Nook Tablet. I know dual-core vs single core and honestly what I want is a well rounded tablet that can web, game, read .pdf magazines etc.
So IS the Flyer still worth the money, I ask that not because its discontinued, but because I want the honest opinions.
The best part of my BBY visit was the employee telling a customer that the iPad has the easiest OS to use and he was looking at the kindle fire. I spoke up, gave my .02 since I have owned about 9 phones this year including (1) BBOS 7, (1) WP7, (1) iOS and about (7) Android phones, so yeah I prefer Android but had to check out the other parts of the OS world.

Buy the HTC Flyer it performs like a Champ. I can honestly say it one of the beast pieces of technology I have bought in a long time. Also get the scribe pen if you can it is a great addition.
The discontinuation is worldwide. Currys/PC World here in the UK (like BestBuy) reduced their stock for the 32GB Wi-Fi to £199 ($320) here & are mostly sold out, Three the mobile network are giving you it for £99 ($160) with 15GB of data for £20 ($32) a month while T-Mobile UK are giving it away for free for £20 ($32) a month for 2GB of data...
I went back to BBY and none of the local stores actually have them, the one store did have a display model which he agreed was stupid if they don't have any to sell.
I wouldn't mind a 32GB UK version if I could get one, so now that I ready the US version has a microsd slot, where exactly is it. The BBY employee was clueless about it. Do any BBY stores have these still?
I tried to look for one but I couldn't find one. Should of pick one up when I had a chance. Oh well.

eBay seems to be the only place to find them now. Unless of course you pop over to www.mobilecityonline.com they have a 32GB 3G/WiFi model for 394.99, it's an open box return but still not bad.
The WiFi only model is still around $450+ in the few places I could find them online and for that money I can get a Asus Transformer.
Believe it or not I bought a Best Buy Flyer for 210.00 all in
One of the best online purchases Ive come across

Hi everyone !
I am planning to buy a 7" tablet on this beginning on 2012 (HNY).
My usage for a 7" will be essentially Internet, GPS, and some Games.
Now that it has Honeycomb, i am preferring the HTC Flyer over the Acer Iconia Tab A100,
Cause the Flyer got a better design, better screen, and moar storage (despite the fact that the Acer is more powerful with the Tegra 2).
The prices for the HTC Flyer here in France are 299€ for the 16GB WIFI Only and 380-400€ for the 32GB WIFI+3G.
So my questions are :
_ Does the Flyer worth that money ?
_ Will the Flyer become obsolete soon cause of it's Single Core CPU or it stills have good time to live ?
_ Does it worth to wait for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus which is more expansive than the Flyer ?
Thank you for your answers
I am in India and a bought 3g+WiFi model for $400 ( euro 300 ) with scribe pen. In us also it was sold dirt cheap recently at bestbuy. The price in your country seems to a bit high.
Though its a very good tablet, I would say look for it for about at euro 300 for a 3g version. Then you can't go wrong.

That's pricing for you in Europe, we always pay more than the rest of the world (except Australia...)
And €300 for a 3G version, I think you'd have to look second-hand, and even then I think it'll be difficult.
For the OP: I have a 16GB Wifi-only. And I was also first thinking about the Acer, but they took too long to come to market here. In the end, I just couldn't wait and shelved out a bit more (I paid a total of around €350, and that included two silicon protectors, a folder case, a screenprotector and a car charger) and I've been very happy ever since. Even with GB (which, I must admit, now that I have HC, I still like better... But for the pen-support in HC, I'd go back).
Edit:
oh and about 3G vs wifi-only: 3G is no use to me, as I don't want to pay premium for a 3G subscription or data-plan... I like my very cheap call/text subscription...

So if your pre-order then for $199 with 2-yr contract you get the HTC One with 32gb of storage and wireless HDMI Adapter, whereas with the Galaxy S4 you only get 16gb + No HDMI Adapter.
Looks like a real opportunity for the One to shine and win back customers / market share for HTC :victory:
Glad the earlier report of a $250 price was completely wrong.
Heres a demo of the HTC Media Link Wireless HDMI Adapter being offered if you pre-order before April 18th
Re: HTC One on AT&T = $249 (guess $249 is the new standard)
Should off been offered at $99 to be honest to compete with sgs4. Also there is no mention when 64gb version goes on pre-order I wonder if that version will not release until few months later.

Re: HTC One on AT&T = $249 w/ 2 year contract (guess $249 is the new standard)
Give it a month and it will drop like the one X last year... Still won't help though. Sadly.

What does it matter 200 or 250 when you are paying so much for 2 years? Anyway they will reduce the price after a month or online sites like Amazon, best buy will offer for less. Hopefully these crap contract process ends soon and just sell phones like laptops and other electronics.

Maybe I need to reevaluate my english. No, it is not my first language. Selling is present tense. That for me means product on the shelf ready to be rung up.

Looked on the first 2 pages and didn't see anyone post anything about $249 price.
Looks like AT&T wants to make $249 w/ contract the new standard. Can't wait till next year when the greedy bastards try to push the standard up to $300 w/ contract
Would have been a nice opportunity for AT&T and HTC to offer the One at a lower price (say $199) than the Galaxy S4 to gain market share, but still a great phone.

Not on Sprint, it was shown @ $199. I stay away from the big greedy ones (AT&T and Verizon).
It's not the carrier's fault. The phones are legitimately getting more expensive. The MSRP for the S4 and HTC One are higher. They are both gonna be $249 on contract. The only one who can pull a $199 still is Apple. Nokia is stuck with exclusivity and probably eats much of the cost when they sell their Lumia 920 for $99 on AT&T. Honestly the new crop of phones are minor upgrades and unless you are a spec and benchmark whore, the extra cost doesn't net much compared to getting a much cheaper last gen phone like the One X or S3. 720p vs 1080p very minor for phones. 8MP vs 13MP (or cough 4MP) marginally better (or worse). Last year's dual/quad core phones vs this year's quad-core/octa-core phones, the difference is imperceptible like the S3 vs S4, or still poorly optimized like the Xperia Z that runs like a dual-core.

HTC said the unlocked developer edition with support for AT&T LTE will be priced at $650 in the United States, and developer editions tend to be more expensive than carrier editions. The iPhone 5 16GB with AT&T LTE is $650 from Apple. So why is the One $250 on contract and the iPhone 5 16GB $200 on contract? These new phones are not more expensive. AT&T just wants more money.
i think 199.99 would've been a perfect price point for the 32gb version. For 249.99, the general public will more than likely pick the s4 or the iphone at 199.99.

I guess you haven't heard but the S4 is starting at $250.
And I'm pretty sure that means 16 will be $250, 32 will be $300 and 64 will be $350.
Also iPhone starts at 200 with 16 being lowest memory capacity. So it goes 200, 300, 400.
The HTC One with 32 will be $250 and 64 will be $300.
Hopefully they'll go with memory capacity being only $50 apart instead of the current $100 apart. >.>
So HTC is actually the one with the best prices here. So with your logic actually that means the HTC One is more likely to be picked by the general public. (if only that we're the truth!)

I know the US (and Canadian!) market prices are still very much perceived based on subsidies, but really, we need to look at the cost of devices on an unsubsidized basis if we want to compare Oranges and Apples :=)
The US pricing for *unlocked* iPhone 5's (and this is some 6+ months after release), is:
16GB - $649
32GB - $749
64GB - $849
So you need to compare the HTC One Developer unlocked at $650 to the $849 unlocked iPhone 5. I presume the AT&T "no contract" price for the HTC One 64GB will be the same $649. Seems pretty good value to me!

Im fully aware that the s4 will be starting at 250, hence why I said the public will be more likely to pick that when it's the same price as the one regardless of the storage. The majority of people aren't going to pay attention to the storage but moreso the brand of the phone and the price. Also why would att price it at 250 when sprint is pricing it at 200? not good for htc.
AT&T to sell the HTC One on April 19 for $200, pre-orders start April 4
Earlier we reported that AT&T's version of the HTC One would be going on pre-sale sometime this week, and the GSM carrier has finally revealed its official plans: the flagship HTC device will be ready for pre-order online starting April 4th. Both the 32GB and 64GB models, which will be $200 and $300 respectively, will hit retail store shelves on April 19th. The carrier will also offer a free Media Link HD to sweeten the deal, though it appears that it's only a part of the pre-sale and won't be available to customers who wait until the 19th to grab it.

am not sure where the 250 price point came from, but that's more like it!
Very excited to see they have the 64GB ready to go at launch! Coincidentally travelling in the US week of the 22nd - yay!
