I just got the photon and hd station got it home and connected it to my rca flat screen tv's hdmi and when I touch webtop it goes to a blue screen that says unsupported but I can play all day with it on mirror phone on display "PLEASE HELP"
What is saying "unsupported"? The TV or the phone? Sounds like it might be some type of TV setting that needs to be changed. Do you know anyone with an HDMI capable monitor that you could test it on and see if it works?
If you can, try to narrow it down to which device is causing the issue, whether it is the flatpanel, dock, or phone. Will be easier to troubleshoot.
Also, just an FYI, sometimes the Webtop is funny. Last night I plugged my phone/dock into flatpanel that has run with Webtop before and I couldn't even get the Webtop option to come up. Then plugged it in this morning at work and it came up no problem.
Post back with more info and I'm sure someone can offer more insight.

Edit - Fixed the problem, sorry for the question
So I just made the switch from the Epic to the Photon. And please feel free to call me a dumb-a$$, but I am trying to connect the HD dock to my monitor. So here's the thing, I only have 1 HDMI port on the monitor, and I have this dock and my laptop to connect. I thought I could connect the laptop via VGA and the dock via HDMI, but the only way the dock shows up on the monitor is if I shut down the PC. Is there any way, to get this into a "split" screen type of thing (my guess is no), could I do it if I had a HDMI splitter (would that work?)
Sorry for being a noob...please don't hate on me...

It helps a LOT if you tell us how you fixed it. You'd be surprised how many people might want to know this same thing.

I think I was bit "overwhelmed" when I first got the phone home (there were so many fun things to play with) that my sense of logic must have gone out the window (I figured everyone was laughing at me for even posting the question). But to answer your question, the problem is that my monitor doesn't have "PIP" (pic in pic) so no real way to get both the Photon and laptop to display at the same time. But, I can use the laptop display for email, web, (laptop stuff) and the monitor for the Photon doc. What I did was I bought a HDMI splitter (it allows for 3 HD devices), then I set the monitor (in Windows) to display on both monitors separately (my stupid calibration tool was not real easy to allow this, but I finally got it to show the monitors as separate items instead of dupes). Then I just switch to the dock (on the HDMI switch), open up the laptop screen, and voila, photon on the monitor, laptop on the laptop monitor (sort of like a dual monitor). It only works when I switch to the photon dock setting (on the switch). FYI, the switch was like $15, and I spent an extra $5 and got a small, portable keyboard (and mouse) and hooked it into the dock.
I'm wondering if anyone with the Multimedia Dock has found that it doesn't work with all TVs? I've had one off-brand TV that gave static through its speakers until I brought up the Entertainment Center and played an audio file...after that it works as expected. I've also had both an LG and a Pioneer TV that reported "no signal" with the dock, but worked just fine if I plugged the HDMI cable directly into the phone (bypassing the dock). I've also had other TVs work just fine. I'm going to try the dock on a TV at the office that I know worked in the past to see if maybe something happened to the dock itself.
However, in the meantime, has anyone else noticed problems with certain TV models?
I'm starting confirm my fear that the dock itself is bad. Every TV I've tried thus far in the office doesn't recognize the dock, even though the Atrix detects and gives me the picker.
Also, if I bypass the dock and use the HDMI cable directly, the TV shows the Moto symbol. Looks like I'm going to see if the store will exchange this one.
Edit: Request replacement from Amazon and should be here next week.
I have a problem: when i put my phone onto the HD dock the phone recognizes the dock and the hdmi cord, asks me if i want to use the webtop or the entertainment center. I choose one of them i got nothing on the screen. The tv's hdmi works fine (with my laptop for e.g). i tried with a different cord, but nothing changed. i made a video of it (sorry for the quality): [i can't post urls, so if you're interested search on youtube for Motorola Atrix 4G HD dock probably faulty. Thanks]
Please help me, i don't know the solution. I have googled after it almost for a week!
I have Motorola MB860, at&t branded Atrix 4G, but it is unlocked, i use it in Europe. Got the latest firmware (OTA). Unrooted, unmodified.
Thanks
Add:
add: the hdmi just doesn't work without the hd dock. i attach the hdmi cord to the phone and select entertainment center, and i get blank screen on the tv.
select a different input on the TV perhaps?
I have like 6 different inputs on my TV and I had to go through each one and wait a little bit to make sure the signal kicked in.
I know it was connected through the HDMI port, but I still had to cycle through the inputs to get it to appear.
still weird
thanks for your answer. i didn't checked it, but i had an lg optimus 2x (p990) and with the lg's hdmi port worked correctly. i know i should wait a little bit, i have been waited for 3 minutes! so i'm starting to think my phone's hdmi wrong. can i test it somehow?
whats ur webtop version?
it is WT-1.2.0-110_OLY-6
System version is 4.5.141.MB860.ATT.en.US
I bought a Viewsonic g tablet on sale a year and a half ago and until this day it meets the light. (It was only touched when purchased then back to the box)
I followed the instructions to the letter (new on this) and everything seems to be working, I have a Malata zpad dock DS-A002 supposed to be fully compatible with the g tablet and I placed the tablet on the dock, connected HDMI in the TV but nothing happens.
Don't see an option in settings to select output to TV.
Many thanks in advance.
Forgot to mention, tried this on the TV which is an LG and monitor which is a Hanns-G
I have to say that this is a first so far. When I read this I went ahead a connected up my dock which is the same make and model as yours to my TV and it works. HDMI is sometimes a pain especially with the newer TV's that are out. You also got to have the dock powered up if you haven't done that. If the power cord is connected and the tablet displays the dock clock then connect the HDMI to the dock with the TV turned off. After connection is made turn on the set and make sure you are on the proper input. It should work, but if not try a different TV.

Thanks for the reply
The LCD TV is a couple of years old, the LCD monitor is 3ish years old
My mother has a 5yr old LCD TV, that's another TV I could test on
The dock is powered up using the charger that came with the gTab
The tablet displays the dock clock when placed on the dock
I've tried different combinations:
Dock powered up, TV off and plugin cable, gtab on then place on dock, turn TV on
Dock powered up, TV off and plugin cable, gtab off then place on dock and power on, turn TV on when gtab is on the dock clock
Dock powered up, TV on and plugin cable, gtab on then place on dock
Dock powered up, TV on and plugin cable, gtab off then place on dock and power on
TV detects HDMI when the gtab is placed on the dock, but after 3-5 secs says no signal meaning it does detect HDMI (shows up as an option, I've tried on all 3 HDMI inputs btw) but it doesn't show up an image.
I've tried these methods in the TV and the monitor, nothing
Doesn't make sense to me since everyone in the thread hasn't had this issue, should be plug-and-play right?

Should I backup the current install and go back to the stock crappy ROM just to test it out? (Wipe everything as instructed before doing so?)
Thanks
No since in going all the way back to stock to test it out. Have you by chance tried a different HDMI cable. You might have a faulty connection or even a dirty connection will make it loose its connection. You may also want to check to see if the TV has a default native setting set. The gtablet will display a image like a PC I believe. Will have to connect it up again to see what res. the device puts out at default.
Alright find the link up solution. I tried different ways of connection all with failure to display on my TV with the exception of this. Try it and you will be satisfied.
1st. Place you dock near your TV with power cord and HDMI cable both connected. Don't connect other end of HDMI cable to TV just yet.
2nd. Have tablet turned on and fully booted up. Then place tablet on dock and leave the dock clock displayed.
3rd. Turn on TV and set the input to the HDMI connection you are about to connect to. Then connect HDMI to that input that is in TV and the display should reflect the device.
Let me know if this works. Thanks.

Hi, yes I tried 2 different cables, different ports, cleaned up (blow air) into the TV and and dock ports (dock is brand new never used from a year+ ago)
I couldn't find a default native setting on the TV.
Really sucks that there is an awesome ROM for the gtablet and I can't use it on the bigger screen, intention was to watch Netflix and movies, besides reading
The tablet is one of those projects that never happened and when I finally manage to get it going this happens...:crying:
Read the addon that I posted. It will connect if you connect it in that order.

Hi Nobe, it still doesn't work. I just don't get it.
TV recognizes the connection (shows as plugged-in) but says no signal.
Unfortunately monitor is not as advanced as a TV, simply says no signal.
Faulty dock? It charges fine
Thanks
Went to stock, and image shows up fine on TV
Is there something I could change, DPI,res? on the current SmoOth install (have backups) that could potentially fix the issue?
Thanks

I keep mine at 160dpi. The issue is that you have to connect everything to the dock before connecting it up to the TV. For some strange reason the dock settings doesn't recognize the connections being made. The dock works fine it is the drivers I believe that are kernel related. If you power up the dock with the HDMI connected to it, then place tablet on the dock, then connect the HDMI to the TV's input with the TV on and turned to that input. Then it should display onto the TV without issues. Done this multiple times when this came up and this was the only way for me to get the dock to display the output of the tablet.

The thing is I did exactly as you said multiple times to be sure.
Using SmoOth image does not come up
Restored to stock ROM and image shows up fine
I'm going to try a fresh SmoOth install and see how it goes or is there any way to check the drivers or make adjustments to it?
Thanks
Any advice on checking the drivers?
Thanks
Actually the drivers are there and working the way they are suppose to be. I do believe that it might in the way it is communicating with the TV still. I am currently working on something that might help out, but I want to test it fully before suggesting it since most everyone doesn't use this feature.

It is really odd that doing the same process on the stock rom works.
Thanks a lot for the follow-up Nobe
Curious if anyone found a solution to this problem? I too have the exact same issue with my Gtab even after trying the solution posted with different cables and such. Stock rom works fine though.
I'm wondering if Nobe found something
Hi...sorry if this is the wrong place, but from my understanding they are the same phone and I didn't see any category specifically for the evo v...
At any rate, so I bought an ikross mhl to dvi adapter, hoping to connect my phone to an 18" LCD I have, but so far no luck with any of 3 monitors. I've connected the phone to a wall charger and tried hooking it up in different orders, to no avail...basically have followed every suggestion I can find.
I've now purchased an mhl to hdmi adapter from newegg for my TV and hopefully will at least verify the general functionality is working (when it arrives on the Monday following this post), but eventually would prefer it on the monitor. I also bought an HDMI to DVI adapter, just as a long shot.
I scoured google before I bought the adapter and every indication seemed like it should work fine, and now have scoured google + these forums again, but just not really finding much info related to my specific hardware.
The phone is rooted, running the latest Harmonia rom and is S-ON...I don't think that would affect it, as everything else on the phone so far has worked flawlessly, however, can't rule it out. There is a guide floating around on how to "turn the evo v into a evo 3d", so if this is rom-related, it's something to try? Requires going S-OFF, but even if it didn't fix anything, at least I'd get the radio updates. But again, from my understanding, the hardware is identical and this phone should be able to do standard mhl, so i assumed mhl to dvi should work as well, but I'm a little unsure about the standards...
Any insight is greatly appreciated and as I always do, if I find a solution, I will post
Still a no-go with an MHL to HDMI adapter, connected to my TV. The closest I came, was the phone went into dock mode if I didn't have the charger connected. Oh and if I unplugged the HDMI cable from the adapter, the TV would say check cable...So the TV was aware that a device was connected, thus it seems the issue lies in the phone.
Anybody have any idea what I could be missing? This /should/ work - the Virgin Mobile site even lists hdmi output as a feature of this phone, but no further mention in the manual and as I said in the OP, spotty info around the web
UPDATE: Just tried it with a monitor again, using an HDMI to DVI adapter, with the new MHL to HDMI adapter, and it almost wants to work - the monitor stays awake (not saying "no signal") and the phone registers that it's connected via hdmi, but the most picture I can get on the screen is but a flash when I change the phone's orientation =/
A second hdmi mhl adapter that I had ordered arrived today (was not expecting it for a month or I wouldn't have bought the other one...oops) and it works on the tv w/ full mirroring
Still a no-go on the monitor - it does the same as the other adapter. The phone and monitor both know it's connected, but only occasionally flashes of video appear and rather than any mirroring, the phone just says "play a video or slideshow" (which does not work).
So I guess the moral of the story: if you have an HTC EVO V 4G from Virgin Mobile (which is more or less the same phone as the EVO 3D) and you want to hook it up to a computer monitor: good luck! I mean, I'll test some more with other monitors on this new adapter but not getting my hopes up. Will post any positive findings, tho...
On the other hand, if you want to hook it up to a TV, it's just a matter of finding the right adapter...in my case, it was pretty much luck of the draw. One worked; the other did not. Maybe the other one will magically start working or will work with one of the new TVs I bought, but we'll see...
Anyway, here is the specific adapter that is working for me: not allowed to post links. Sorry! You all lose. Thank you spammers.
you also need to be on jellybean, or higher for the hdmi to work I do believe, otherwise the phone os if below doesnt recognize or work for hdmi out. the jellybean update made it so anyphone with micro usb out should be able to connect to hdmi with the mhl adapter.
I think its simply a matter of analog vs digital video signal. A computer monitor will need a digital video signal but a TV will be happy with either analog or digital. And I'd guess the output of the MHL adapter is analog.
