Hi All,
Hope you are well. I just flashed the CWM recovery to a locked tab using ODIN, and upon doing POWER + VOL(-) and getting into the recovery, for some reason the screen with all the menu to do wipes/install just seems to be scrolling all over the place.
When I re-flash the stock recovery back using ODIN, the screen is fine again. Tried both 4.0.0.4 and also the 3.2.0.1 versions, with not much luck.
Has anyone had a similar incident? Is there anything I can do? I wanted to try and flash my custom boot.img.
Thanks heaps in advance!!!.
Hi Folks,
Hope you are well - wasn't sure if anyone has come across this - but anyone seen the Recovery mode flickering / scrolling when flashed on a locked Galaxy Tab 10.1?
Thanks again!
I'm using CWM 4.0.0.4 on my locked P7510, works as intended.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
Thanks yqed,
For some reason when I have CWM 4.0.0.4, and when I reboot into the recovery mode - CWM shows up - but the screen keeps on flickering / scrolling / refreshing all over the place.
I'm wondering if there is something different in my Retail Galaxy Tab 10.1 WIFI vs. the others - I bought mine from Korea (retail). Appears that I have kernel version 2.6.36.3 instead of .4 and the build is EH14.
Thanks.
I to get some lag while using the cmw...

I have a Korean 32Gb wifi Galaxy Tab 10.1, and my CWM Recovery also starts having a seizure when I boot into it. It still seems to be working fine, but it is nearly impossible to use.
I would really like to know what causes this issue.
Thanks limenless,
Anyone seen this before? Anyone know if CWM 5 might potentially fix this - seens some thread with regards to this.
I was going to try and wipe the dalvik cache, and others, but seeing the screen is almost impossible to use in recovery mode, having a bit of difficulty there.
Any advice is much appreciated - if you need dumps and others, happy to provide - as long as I get some instructions...
Thanks.

Did you try CMW 5? Preshoot has a tutorial in the development section, its pretty simple just follow it and I think and hope that your issue would be solved!
Why dont you try taking a picture/screenshot of it, best would be using ddms.bat in the android development kit to take screenshot's , or just a picture would do great. Hard to guess what's going on, when someone mentioned seizure, I pictured Dr.House

Have you tried Overcome's CWM? I'm using that and it's perfectly fine. PS it's the ver 5 release.
PS; For being an epic House fan I shall see to it that you get it worked out
And to top that off, an offlink to the CWM of Overcome http://www.mediafire.com/?6c5tdmds927npdv
PS: Here's your video, Embedded anyways.
I'm on the same page. My screen flicker after entering CWM recovery mode. Very annoying.
In the development section for 10.1 I was just reading in a thread about a Korean ROM, Pershoot stated something about someones device not being compatible with his kernel. I don't know if either one has to do with the other but I think I read in the same thread of someone having "this problem"
Honestly don't know if anything between this thread and that thread are relevant to each other.
Just thought I'd mention it to see if it helps. sorry if it doesn't apply to anything here.
I somehow fixed it by flashing the tab with an non-HK 3.1 stock ROM using Odlin. then then cwm recovery works fine.
Not really a fix but
You could always just find a pre rooted rom to flash with odin, then once u have the pre rooted rom installed get rom manager and u will no longer have to worry about cwm. Plus u could then flash to whatever rom u need to using rom manager.
My method allows me to have a clear screen in CWM RECOVERY but after I flashed Galaxy Task 14 I get all blurred screen whenever my Tab is resumed from standby. I must set my screen to never turn off to prevent it flickering again.
May I ask which pre rooted ODLIN ROM do you guys recommend? If possible can you please provide the URL to it? I suspect the flickering problem has relation to the harmony between bootloader, kernel etc so I want to use the exact combination you guys are using.

appreciate your help Misledz, 002001-Overcome_CWM_Recovery_v5.1.2.6 got same result.. my screen still flicker..
I think I will give up on CWM too complicated for me
Can you just give me tips on how to root my tab 10.1 without CWM (if that is possible)

Hi !
I have just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wifi only (GT-P7510).
I want to install ICS on it, but I'm stucked on a problem : my screen is scrolling (flickering if you prefer, like an old broken TV) on a recovery and after install some roms.
My current configuration is OK with that :
- Recovery : CWM v5.5.0.4.
- Android : 3.2
- Kernel : 2.6.36.3 [email protected] #1
- Version number : HTJ85B.XXKL2 P7510XXKL2
With this recovery, I tried to flash my tab with the latest Krang version.
Installation OK but when Android starts : my screen is flickering and never stops.
I can see the Android ignition but impossible to use it except to shut down.
When I try to flash with Cyanogen mod for P7510 (plus.google.com/100275307499530023476/posts/1Lm5iULvf3w), my recovery says :
Assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "p4wifi" II getprop("ro.build.product") == "p4wifi"
Then I tried to install another recovery (a friend made it with this recovery) : andrewrecov.
This recovery starts scrolling, hard to read, then too fast to read anything.
I search for a solution on the web, but found nothing.
Just found some guys saying it's a rare problem, but I don't have any solution.
Any ideas ?
Thanks for your help
Just making a guide to fix, Keep an eye on the General forum!
Thanks mate
I tried a lot of things found on the Web but none fixed my problem.
I hope your solution will solve it.
Hi,
So i am not alone to get this problem
I dont have fixed the problem but find a workaround, if you install KANG (and other rom with scolling pb), if you lock screen (with power button) and wake up, scroll don't exist anymore and display is fine.
If you reboot the tab you have to redo lock/unlock.
After you do this the only display problem that subsist is when you change from portrait to landscape, screen goes black for a half of a second before rotating.

I didn't try that, I will but it's not an acceptable solution
I really don't understand why some tablets have this problem and not all.
Maybe the Tablet origin ?
As I see you're french (me too), I bought it on rueducommerce. Same seller or another ?
Just flash another version of CWM that doesn't flicker, there are many versions of 5, doesn't matter which because in the end the ICS installs it's own CWM later.

recovery rolling on p7510 with twrp 2.2.0 flashed
Noob - I've looked around a ton here trying to find some help with escaping recovery mode when the screen is rolling like this and just haven't had any luck at all...
So I flashed CWM 5.5.0.4 and went into recovery mode on my perfectly stock p7510 and got the rolling screen. I was able to see enough of the interface to reboot and was fine again - figured (stupidly now I'm seeing) that twrp 2.2.0 might not have this problem. So I flashed THAT recovery system and I'm still scrolling...however, because it's a touch screen interface now I'm pretty jammed.
What can I do about this? Is there a way to push through a reboot command?
UPDATE: WOW, I managed to peck my way back to Honeycomb. CRAZY. Going back to the "fix the scrolling screen" threads.....
Recovery Screen Scrolling
Hi, I just installed ICS on my GT-P7510 Galaxy Wifi Tablet but if I go into the ClockWorkMod recovery screen it scrolls incessantly (trying to re-root the tablet). This is the ICS Firmware/build P7510XABLPL_P7510UELPL_HOME.tar.md.5 that I installed. The device was rooted but not anymore after flashing from Honeycomb using Odin3_v1.85. I've tried installing recovery.tar.md5.....no luck......I tried installing ClockworkMod_Recovery_v5.5.0.4_P75xx.....no luck screen still scrolls. Can I even install anything via Odin now that the tablet is no longer rooted? Am I able to restore the tablet back to it's stock ROM? Am I able to do it through Kies? The tablet works on ICS as far as I can tell but I sure would like to root it again or have I in a sense "semi-bricked" it? I am a NOOB and would REALLY appreciate any feedback to get me out of this jam. I have read other posts about screens scrolling but nothing about it being the ClockWorkMod screen. Thanks to any and all who reply.
There are solutions for this. The easiest way that I have seen for ICS is to flash pershoot's bootloader variant and CWM recovery.
Go here: http://droidbasement.com/galaxy/roms/cm9/p4wifi/ and download the bootloader and recovery tar.md5 files. Flash them both via download mode with Odin and you should be fine. Come on back and let us know how you made out.

You can easely restore your device with ODIN and P7500XXLQ8_P7500OXALQ8_P7500XXLQ8_HOME.tar.md5 (ICS4.04).. So no problems there..

Which cwm version is that and is it good for stock?
It's the latest release from pershoot for CWM non-touch recovery. Last I checked it was 6.0.1.2 but that was just about a week ago.
I downloaded both tar.md5's and flashed them both - bootloader first, rebooted, rebooted into recovery, flashed new recovery, done. I was on stock LPL at the time. Hope it works out!
EDIT: I've been working on getting a crisp list of steps together for a new FIX post with bugs9477 and will post that at some point this week. It will be specifically for ICS because everyone here now knows how to fix the roll for HC.

Glad you got it worked out! FYI the recovery.tar.md5 is the CWM 6.0.1.2. If you flashed it and rebooted into recovery you'd see the version # at the top of the recovery screen.
Further, if you're flashing stock firmware via Odin (not a flashable ROM file, the stock firmware tar.md5) it will automatically wipe and relay the partitions for the entire tablet - /data,/cache,/system (the ROM itself), /sdcard (all of your storage), bootloader, all of it. You start completely clean when you go that route.

I appreciate the acknowledgement but I can't take full credit. I came across it somewhere while searching for a solution myself. It worked for me on stock-based ICS so I thanked the original poster. It should be noted that with that particular recovery, you may not be able to flash a CM9 or CM10 ROM until you've flashed the latest CWM recovery which you can get from www.droidbasement.com
Good luck guys

So how do you know if it's stock firmware vs. a flashable ROM file? I downloaded this: GT-P7510_XAB_P7510UEKMP_P7510XABKMP_P7510UEKMP onto my PC in hopes that it is the original HC firmware I had on my GT-P7510 and was going to flash it back onto my GT-P7510 if the scrolling CWM screen issue couldn't be resolved. How are you able to differentiate on whether you should use ClockWorkMod (via recovery mode) to download ROM onto SDcard then install ROM off SDcard or use Odin to install ROMS?
Thanks once again for your assistance!

When you tried the fix noted above, I assume the screen didn't roll when you rebooted then into CWM recovery. At that point did you flash a ROM and THEN reboot to find the flicker after locking the screen, or did you do a reboot back into the same stock HC after flashing the bootloader and experience the problem?
I'm contemplating flashing this same bootloader because I have a rolling CWM5.5.0.4 right now and I want to stabilize it - but just so that I can root...not thinking about a ROM just yet...
Just to inform you all, i also had to flash a different bootloader after installing cm9 on my p7511, wich is in fact a 7510. For the records, pershoot made the new bootloader for exactly that issue, not backwards. But seems to work also.
What i deal now with, is that after flashing the uk ics for p7510 to my tab, the stock recovery doesn't recognize my sdcard. Can't mount sdcard...
Could be that a repartitioning with pit file will be necessary afterwards for us all.
Edit: thanks to the wise help of msedek, i know by now that my hind was totaly wrong. My mentioned point has to do with the Changes within stock recovery of ics, which have been made to prevent changes from there.
Getting more confident..
OK so it is sounding like this is definitely better. One more question:
I'm following the stickied root guide in General and that method uses CWM 4.0.0.4...I had reflashed that version. If I want to flash this boot loader should I flash 5.5.0.4 first? Or does it matter if I'm just trying to root right now?
EDIT: Flashed the bootloader which straightened out the recovery!! Successfully rooted after that. Downloaded root apps (ROM manager/Titanium/etc). Then turned off my screen - FLICKER CITY!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680738 <<< THIS fixed it. Load this kernel into the root of your tablet and flash it with CWM. Seems to have done the trick nicely and I'm exploring my newly rooted tab! My wife no longer wants to kill me either.

What ROM or firmware are you running? What exactly have you done with the device up to this point? Are you 3G or WiFi? Need more detail...

I have the same problem on my P7500 3G and the minute i load the bootloader to fix CWM recovery rolling i get the screen flickering after lock screen.
Rom: ICS 4.0.4
Build Number: IMM76D.XXLQ8
BaseBand7500XXlQ8
Kernel: 3.1.10
Still stuck.
Hi guys,
Gtab 10.1 Wifi here. Fix didn't worked, somehow...
After installing official ics from Samsung and rooted, i had the same insane flicker issue. I followed this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680738 - , flashed new kernel, and now i cant pass Samsung Galaxy Tab logo for some reason, not even past half an hour.
Im in a dead end, even tried installing back CM9 but it also wont pass the splashing blue screen.
Any ideas?
cheers!
EDIT : After some reboots, finally managed to boot into ICS (CM9) but now i was pushed back to the step 1, where I don't have a working camera, but I have root access and non official ICS from Cyanogen. I am afraid re-doing all my work and get stuck again in the scrambled screen after it updates the kernel..
I'm I missing something, guys?
Hi there!
Are you still having problems?does this guide here work for you?:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1555984
I've found something, the kernel flash package changes our devices' WiFi driver, that's why it doesn't work.
sorry for not giving a fix until tomorrow,it's sleep time here,I know my excuse will be accepted because you all care for basic human needs...
But please inform me if that guide(Pershoot's) has fixed your problem, thanks for that

Hey guys.
I was doing a full wipe, to reinstall Jellybean Rom, which I had been running for 2 weeks. Thought I'd give it good wipe and update to the latest version.
I wiped.
Then I tried to format the system. This was taking ages, longer than usual, and for some reason I decided to reboot and do it again as it may have got stuck.
Now the tablet won't boot, so I can't get it in to recovery or download mode, as it won't turn on at all.
There was about 70% battery remaining.
Any ideas?
Edit: The only thing I seem able to do is see it as an APX device in Device Manager. I have tried holding down power buttons, volume buttons etc.

Thanks for the reply. I'm currently trying to nvflash it but it seems I have a locked bootloader and therefore can't. Only option seems to be to try and run the battery down as has been suggested.
Well i dont really know what to say ..
Are you still under warranty ?
Did you try posting in the thread where you downloaded the rom from because they might help you ?
Were you using a JB rom or jellybeanICS rom (toldos rom } ?
Sent from my GT-P7500 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah I bought it in June, but I don't know if they'll help me?
I haven't tried posting there, as I guess it isn't a rom issue, it is because the system shut down whilst formatting, and perhaps now has nothing to boot off of?
Toldos Jellybean at the time.
I've been trying the command prompts from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130574 but it seems it is locked as I get the 0x4 error.
No idea!
then try asking toldo in his thread , he might help you with something
Asked in the Toldo thread but I believe it is a tab issue not Rom. I don't get why I can't even boot into Download or Recovery. So frustrating.
Got a dead tablet right now, trying to run down the battery and see if it'll switch on after.

Help! The phone dropped to the ground once and had a crack on the digitizer and LCD screen. I replaced both of them and now, it is stuck in a boot loop (turns on, stays on splash screen) I've tried flashing the latest firmware thru Odin, but the same thing happens. All I can do on the phone is just getting to the download mode. I can't get to recovery, too.
Did you wiped cache and dalvick before reboot?
Before the first bootloop what did you do(Install an apk? Flash a zip?)? Were you rooted? A custom rom? A stock one?
During Odin did you wait for pass and blue color?
have you seen This? Is that similar for you?

Yes, I did wipe both, I didn't do anything weird except a reboot, not rooted, stock ROM, pass on Odin, not similar to the hard brick problem. I can get to download and recovery mode.
You can go now to recovery mode? Have you retry to flash a rom?
Do you remember last version before and the last you install? Couldn't it be you had try to flash an older version?

hello fellas..this my first post here..im using samsung mega lte,and have a problem after root my phones..cant go recovery mode.couse there have a red text warranty bit kernel and 3more text avove in my screen..just stuck at samsung logo..dont know how to do..there any friend here know how to do?its been a month my phone stuckat the same problem
It seems this issue is a difference in screen compatibility. To fix this, you can turn the device on and let it boot into the Android OS, then (while still on), unplug the old LCD and plug in the new LCD. Hit the power button to ensure the new LCD is working properly, then turn the device on, and finish assembling your phone.
same issue
R960 stuck in loop after replacing screen and cant access recovery or odin mode
need help desperately
I just got a galaxy mega from someone an got ripped off because it's running 4.4 kit Kat and had the screen replaced right before I got it, so it doesn't work. Bootloops. Due to not an OEM screen and I don't really have the cash to risk ordering a screen claiming to be oem.
So how can I just downgrade to a version before the need for OEM screen??
Please any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm still a bit confused as to what exactly I should do.. there's alot in that thread.. I really can't afford to buy another screen. This really sucks that the update requires OEM screen in order to function.. if I could find a way to fix the issue without buying a screen I'd be extremely grateful!
But I don't have much experience at all with rooting and flashing custom ROMs, and I'm kind of afraid to brick the phone..
Any help to get the touch screen up and running would be highly appreciated!!
Thank you!
I am the only one who only a part of upper screen works? (I can see status bar, and rotating enter to wifi settings and try to get out of welcome screen of att)

OMG! Sorry for the very late reply. It works fine already. Went to download mode and flashed using Odin. Thanks!
Hey everyone and thanks for your help.
I deleted what seemed to me to be some worthless apps from my galaxy pocket neo using an app and now my phone is stuck on the boot screen. I have tried factory resetting my phone and after rebooting my phone will go through the original setup process, but ultimately after going through all the menus my phone becomes unresponsive. I am thinking that I need a new os.
I have seen the other help thread "stuck on boot logo" and I tried to understand the directions giving there, but have so far been unable to resolve anything. If I could get some clear instructions as to what might fix my phone I'd appreciate it.

Go here
Flash Samsung stock ROM for your phone and baseband using Odin. It should be back to normal. It will be back to unrooted factory state.
Alternatively, if your cwm is still working, just flash a ROM zip after wiping data, cache, advamced->dalvik cache.
Do mounts and storage-> mount system->format system in CWM before flashing ROM if above 2 methods do not work (though I'm very sure one of them would work)
---------- Post added at 12:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:50 AM ----------
Make sure that you flash the ROM of Samsung s5312 and not the one mentioned in the Odin guide. Search for it .
I can't seem to find a site that will let me download the stock rom. All of the rom sites bring me to uploaded.net and I dead end there... Is there something I am missing on that website?
Thanks!
problem app system
May be you remove any important system app so i think you should install stockrom by odin or install custom rom ) there are many nice rom such as: cm11 , cm10.1
Same Problem

Ah i see. My apologies, I managed to fix it but it took a while. I had to download the official firmware from sammobile and flash it through odin. When i did that again i was stuck on the boot animation, but what i did was to go into my recovery and wipe cache, dalvik and also user data just to make certain and voila! phone works fine now.
I'm so sorry about your situation man, maybe you can try what i tried if you still got your phone. Its good as a spare!
Well done Sir!
I already spent a full work day on the sucker >.> I am just bitter and can't be bothered. Haha. Glad you were successful though!
