Hi again.
Does anybody have an idea about a screensaver for the Rose? Something, where I could see the time and the missed sms, emails and calls? Something, like always the Nokia phones have.
Thanks for the answers!
On my old WM5 Smartphone I used and really liked maniac's Automatic Keylock but on the S740 I couldn't get it to update the email count. Also the device lock didn't behave as I'm used to.
Give it a try, maybe it fits your needs or you can figure out how to fix the issues that I experience...

I am sorry, I was wrong. The Automatic Keylock screensaver runs very well on the Rose, it is only a matter of the right configuration of the programm. It is simple and work great incl email, sms etc. notification.
If somebody would like to use it on the Rose and would have problems with the setting, dont hesitate to contact me.
Do you use device lock or key lock?

Hi. I dont use nothing of them. I use just the Supress Key presses option in the screensaver. But the Keylock runs well too, I tried it, but dont like to press two keys to unlock the phone
First off, I have already reverted back to the windows mobile dialer in order to stop the ringtone lag that comes with the touchflo one. My problem is that I tried installing a few different dialers and a couple of them dont show up/work. For example, the one from Godzson looks really great in the screenshots, but I cant get it to show up on my phone. Do i need to reenable the touchflo one in order for that to happen? Would I still have the lag that is apparent with the touchflo one or will Godzson's dialer remove that? Also, I have tried the vga version of the touchflo2d dialer. This showed up and looked great, but I wasnt able to see the numbers I was dialing if I tried to do a conference call. It is important that I can see the numbers just in case I accidentally miss dial and need to make a change. So I guess I am asking for help choosing a dialer or at least help getting some of the dialers I have tried working like they should.
I am also looking for one that I can add in a party when they call. I havent been able to figure out how to do that in the windows mobile dialer and would like to know if it is an option. Essentially, if I am already on the phone with someone and I get an incoming call, I would like to be able to connect the two if I please. I know how to set up a conference call if I call both parties myself, but I would like the option to add someone into a call if they were to call me. Hopefully that makes sense.
So is there any dialer that doesnt have the lag, can add in additional parties, lets you see the number when you type it in for a conference call, and looks nice?
On a side note as a gripe, can anyone use the send key on your phone to set up a conference call? I can do it if I use the key on the touch screen, but not if I press the actual key on my phone. Its a minor concern, but its a weird problem that I have noticed.
Thanks for all of your help and time. This was a long post to read.
I have also tried the PhonEx dialer and wasnt able to use the hold button. Looks like that one is out . Are there any other suggestions?
I've tried many dialers and think I'm staying with PhonEx. I do not seem right the way it is being promoted(post the link and the videos to get it free...) and hence being banned... But I must say its a good piece of software. It is light, thumb oriented, no lag, and it completely replaces the WM dialer (others just add a dial pad). This one even allows you to use the big button keypad during calls. You can also manage(delete/add) your contacts from just there easier. I also like how it presents its four sections: Favorites, Call list, Contacts and Dialpad, giving the same importance to all and allowing to predefine any of them as the main screen for the phone (and not just the classical dialpad). I see also a "Conference" option but not tried that yet.
Ok so here is what I would like to have accomplished if possible.
I would like to setup and event in Taster so that when my phone connects to my cars bluetooth it will activate Vlingo's SafeReader function and then turn it off when my phone disconnects from it.
When ever I receive a text from someone have Vlingo start listing for a command to reply to the text. This part I can set, but I would like to have the function delayed for a few moments so that the SafeReader can read the text first and I dont know how to delay actions in tasker.
PS, I know there are other ways to have the text read aloud, but I actually prefer Vlingo's Text2Voice feature as it sounds more natural and less robotic.
Anyone have any ideas how to active either a widget (Vlingo SafeReader widget) or a feature in an app through Tasker?
Any help is appreciated.

Funny, I just did a search today to find out how I could do this exact same thing (activate a widget in Tasker, in fact, activate the same widget you mention, SafeReader). I'll follow this thread. Hope we find an answer.

I also posted this over at the Tasker forums in hopes to get some help.
http://groups.google.com/group/tasker/browse_thread/thread/d2fb6ba790cd93f6
Did you get anywhere with this? I'd like to do the same thing.
I am able to launch vlingo using android scripting inside tasker by calling com.vlingo.client.safereader, but it does not actually enable safereader. Perhaps there is some argument that needs to be passed?
Strike that. I'm not convinced that my script actually worked now.
I had previously had a load app step in that profile that loaded vlingo. I deleted that step and replaced it with my script, but I suspect that Tasker was still calling the app with the step i had removed, even though the profile had been saved. Oh well...
I want to do something simpler... activate the "tap to speak" feature by pressing my bluetooth headset's talk button... any ideas?

Any details on how to do this would be appreciated, I use tasker a fair amount, but have not gotten into scripts yet.
Hi Community,
Let me jump right in! I recently purchased a backbeat 903+ since i was nearly in an accident fiddling with my phone while driving. And i have quickly learned to do some of the basic features such as calling etc.
I had a small hickup at the start when none of the headset buttons would do anything. I am synced and connected in bluetooth, but realized i never downloaded Nuance as an extra from the blackhole roms page. I am currently running Blackhole 4.3 (whatever the newest one is as of today).
Ok on to my question. I can get Nuance to bring up the text message screen, but i can not figure out how to make it type. I have tried just about everything i can think of. I searched all over youtube and found a video of some guy doing it, but when i try the same thing it doesnt type what i dictate or even ask me to speak.
So any advice is welcome, and i want to thank every one for your time reading, and answering in advance.
Just an update i downloaded the flext9 which someone suggested. It has the voice feature but im trying to keep it hands free. Right now my Call/ Action button on my 903+ does not begin voice recognition once in the text message. so i have to pull out my phone, press the voice button then talk and then hit send.
I found a program called voice actions that allowed me to do what i needed, but i cant figure out a way to bind it to my BT Call/Action button, everytime i press it nuance comes up.
Thanks again for any help!
Hi, it seems search bar is locked in place on this device (Android 9 Pie). There is no obvious option to disable it.
It is the issue for a while already http://forum.cubot.net/viewtopic.php?t=1160
Did anyone find a solution how to remove it from the Home screen?
Thanks

I recommend just installing a third party launcher instead. I too found no easy way to remove it.
it's a fixed position widget starting from Android 8
sadly the only way to remove it is third party launcher ...
I had this problem too. Like said above, the problem is solved immediatly with a third launcher. I've taken Nova Launcher and it works perfectly.
Otherwise, if you don't want to install another launcher, you can try this method : https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
For a complete lists of your package, you can use the app : "App Inspector" on the playstore.
I did this for all google app. For the search bar, it didn't work fully but it was better than without this tip. I read that, for some people, it worked fully.
Hope you will succeed to remove it!

Happy that it worked for you too!
There is no special topic about this phone, does it work well for you?
I have it since last october ,it works pretty good! I would like to root it but I don't find a safe way to do it. I found some tip on german or russian forum but I don't speak those langages and the google trad is very approximative...
Do you find something to root it safely? ANd does this phone great for you?

I saw some guides but I didnt try to root this phone because I dont have a need for it, especially since the phone is already stock Android 9 where you can simply use adblocking DNS from within the Network settings.
Im generally satisfied with it, but proximity and finger sensors tend to misbehave sometimes, maybe its too sensitive to dust or dirt, I dont know.
My phone has V11 firmware, no updates available through the update manager, but there should be V13 available.

yeah it's true that you can replace a lot of root's features with third app's with this phone but it will be cool for me to have full access for more fun! Like totaly uninstall some apps useless for me, more customisation etc etc...
But it's really cool like it is now!
With mine : I don't have trouble witj proximity sensors but fingers sensors react weirdly, indeed. I think your hypothesis is the answer : it's too sensitive to dust and dirt.
The light sensor is a little bit weird too, but I think it's due to an android feature : user'shabits learning. Weird at the beginning, but works good after.
In my case, I have the V13 firmware (install directly via Cubot's website). I don't think it will be more update later...
One question : Do you know if this phone works well in USA? I see that it has some US's band so I think so , but I would like a confirmation
I received message from Cubot support that there are no significant or important changes in V13, so I'll leave it at that.
I also noticed phones behavior and sensitivity of sensors has changed over time, maybe it's that habit learning you mentioned..
I'm in Europe, so I can't say if it works in US. Shouldn't be too hard to find out.
I'm generally satisfied with this phone, as I tend to drop it a lot (relatively speaking) and it holds together well, and the software support+performance is satisfactory as well.
@urpi_ > Thanks for the feedback Happy to share with a Quest's owner, there aren't many
Like you, I've dropped it sometimes and the shakeproof it's real! I haven't test yet the waterproof. I will do it this summer
In very good points, I found GPS, Wifi and bluetooth respond very quick and well!
For the GPS, even in a remote location, the Quest fixes very quick
And the blutooth works very well with my earplug, even in running.
For the price, it's a very good smartphone, I'm happy with it too
Since when do you have this phone? I have it for 5 months nearly.

That's one of the reasons I would like to root it. Like you, this functionnality annoys me, although this button is very usefull . It's too bad that we can't configure it like we want and with a root, it would be possible.
For now on, I don't find a tip for changing this long press function. Maybe someone will read this thread and will have an solution
If I found something , I will share it here

Yeah, I have used Key Mapper ( https://github.com/sds100/KeyMapper ) to change normal press (no root required) but I haven't found a way how change long-press behavior. Perhaps it's possible with Key Mapper too, and I just didnt find it?? Maybe.
@urpi_ > Thank you for the share, I will try it and search too if we can do something for long press configuration!
But for the normal press, you can already choose any application in settings. So, what does keymapper moreover?
Otherwise, about the fingerprint sensor:
I re-saved my fingerprints but differently :
Without perfectly clean up the sensor, like "out in the pocket" 's mode ( ) and with the "soft" part of the finger.
Before I saved it with the very extremity of the finger. This time, I used this "soft" part (a little bit under the top extremity of the finger) and with the finger kept flat.
It works pretty better now! Maybe it could make it work better for you too
Im pretty satisfied with the fingerprint sensor now, but yeah it can be probably fine-tuned to work better with this phone, like you said.
You can choose any application for normal (side-key) press, but I wanted to map it to something other than applications.
I used KeyMapper to make it a Pause/Play key for media.

So I tried this app and I think I found for the long press mode.
When you are on the window for creating a new macro, clik on "more" and then choose "long press"
After, you click on "record trigger" and push the button you want to configure, then choose the action you want.
I tried for launching an app, it worked well
But I tried for togglethe torch and it crashed the app. ANd then, the app didn't work at all, I had to reinstalled it
Hope it will help you
By the way, can you tell me what does "Data protection" setting do exactly? I see it under Security & location - Advanced menu.
I know it asks for a security entry pattern, but what for? Phone is supposed to be encrypted by default.
Yeah good question! I wonder too and I never enter a pattern for this. I think it is an android protection by default, but there are another protection too. By the way, I think there is too much protection
Other subject : I had a security upate nearly by september, I found the fingerprint and thbe camera respond much better. DO you feel that way too?

No update available for my phone. Still at February security update from 2019.
Strange, maybe you should visit the official website? If you do this, be careful : I've done the update via this way because the direct OTA way didn"t work. If the OTA's way is just an update; via the official website, it's a total reset, so, backup before doing this way
