Sorry for my broken english,
OK,now I am facing a huge problem..I can't run any game on my x10,
When i run a game, at start it will run normally, after loading or few seconds then it will crash and causing a boot..i tested on every game eg gameloft, fruit ninja, angry bird except sudoku(maybe it didnt give the gpu too much stress),before it boot the notification light will become purple in colour .. I m on wb tw rom v4.04 custom and doom's kernel v04a and oc to 1267mhz ..I think my gpu is spoilt because I used to reinstall the rom and wipe everythingbut no use..
Anyone can help me and I will very appreciate ..thx

You might want to start there...
It is not adviced to overclock for prolonged period of time.
Set the max frequency back to 998 and see what happens.

That's why they say "don't use for long" and not, for example, "don't use for 3 days"!
There will be a point when your chipset will no longer be able to handle it,
and that point is unique to every phone/user, so better lower or eliminate the overclock altogether.
Dun clock to max, just a slight clock would be good like 10360,or just set to normal clock first

If I were you, I wouldn't overclock at all, because reboots are an indication
that your chipset cannot tolerate higher frequencies and chipset death
can have you run to a service center for a new motherboard...
These older chipsets can't overclock like newer ones either, the tolerances are a lot lower.
You're going to fry your chip dude!
I wouldn't recommend going over 1167 personally...
Even that not for more than a short period.. Unless you don't mind risking your phone dying.
SE phones tend to run hot anyway, you are really straining it for sure.

Does X10i have a temp sensor in SoC ? I thought only sensor was in Battery! So it's not SoC thats getting hot (sure, that one also...) it's the Battery. Maybe SE choose the cheaper option, which get's hotter.

I have a battery temperature widget on my homescreens
(from Minimalistic Text app)
and sometimes I notice temperatures as high as 45 Celcius,
but then again, this time of year the weather is at 35-40 Celcius in my country.
The highest I've seen is 54 while I was charging, connected to 3G and
having a half-hour phone call.
Battery does get hot easily, but I am not sure what's the deal with
the motherboard because I haven't had any random reboots for the past few months.

It isn't only the battery hence the burning smell if you remove the battery and smell that area, and all the motherboard problems...
The phone itself runs pretty hot, much hotter than any other I've owned.

15 seconds, give or take.
...
Just kidding... I haven't done very scientific test but on cognition 1.04 I can probably play plants vs zombies for 45 minutes straight on a full charge.
Your mileage may vary. Seems some people have far worse battery life than others, depending on ROM used, other apps, if radio is on/off, etc.
Managed to drain battery from 100 % to 0 playing Dungeon Hunter for 2 hours straight.
Currently owning Incredible S (recently upgraded to Gingerbread), is it really worth buying SGSII or Sensation instead of keeping incredible S?
P.S. have to pay extra 75-100 GBP to get one of those if I return my Incredible S
There seems to be something wrong with plants vs zombies. If you under clock the CPU and gpu you can actually last pretty long playing.

hehe theres a famous quote that you come across every so often around here...
"If your concerned about voiding the warranty then your in the wrong place"
That said....
If anything is gonna drain your battery quick then it is games.
I could get aprox 2 hours playing something fairly intensive like GOF2 or Eternal Legacy... lowering brightness, underclocking further, turning off all connections etc etc may well increase this though...

I was thinking to buy possibly a 3D optimus from LG or evo 3d (not sure when it comes to UK), are they gona be rootable from release date or must wait until some devs (hackers) breaks their security?
ive tried every rom/kernal combination and with each i get lock ups when doing intensive cpu work such as a game or benchmark overclocked to 1.6 any ideas? Thanks
Just means your processor was built a little weak. Its only built to run at 1.2ghz so anything above that is pushing it hard... some phones can be oc'd that much, some can't. Just take it down to 1.4. I can't even get mine to 1.4 so he thankful

What voltage do you have it at? Try raising it 25mV at a time stressing you cpu at each step until you're stable. That is if you are determined to run 1.6 and i would not push more than +100mV personally.

I do not think entropy is the one who has issues...
This has been discussed in 10 different threads already and in great detail. If the OP did as much as search he would of have found the answer himself. That is why they call it research
the only question left is...... You mad bro?
Keep all voltages stock, then use voltage congrol and click on 1400 and increment the slider+ 25, then do the same for 1600. This is what i had to do to get my phone stable at 1.6 Some phones may need EXTRA voltage and others need less. It takes some testing to get your particular phone stable at anything over 1.2Ghz. I only did it to see if I saw any gains. Actually for me and my phone I found as far as MY SETUP and testing many different benchmark style apps at 1.4Ghz i got better benchmarks than i did at 1.6Ghz. Now everyones phones will act sligbtly different so your mileage may vary.

At 1.6 ghz... your phone will be discharging your battery ON your charger... I personally wouldn't recommend doing it as it gets the phone really hot, and causes the chip lots of stress due to high heat. Personally if you need more performance (this phones pretty damn fast anyways) go to 1.4ghz.
Most of our phones can be overclocked to 1.4 and some can go to 1.6 but not all. If you change the voltages and it still craps out, then take it down a notch to 1.4 and see how that works for you.

Now now. Since when do we encourage keeping things stock.
My point is - if it were guaranteed to hit 1.6, it would be sold as 1.6.
Being able to hit 1.6 is luck of the draw, pure and simple.
There's a reason:
1) OC is not default on my kernel
2) I held off on providing OC support for a while here, and NEVER released it on Infuse (users weren't mature enough to handle it over there)
3) I have a warning in GIANT RED LETTERS not to complain about OC stability issues on my kernel thread.

This is all true... but the OP was simply asking a question now lets all play nice.
We should have an OC that allows n00bs to melt their cpu.... 2.5ghz ftw
No no no.... We have too many "I tried to load the ICS in the I9100 forums, and I bricked my phone, please help!" threads. we don't need "I OC'ed my phone to 8ghz and melted my cpu" threads too
Tegrak allows you to go past 1.6. I thought these CPU were locked @ 1.6 but i had to up my voltage at 1.7 and i got a small bump in my benches though i probably did run my test enough to confirm the bump. At so.e point, when i get some time ill beat on my CPU some more

I ran my phone at 1.6 for days just to see performance. No UV at all.. battery certainly drained faster, but not while charging. It charged just fine.. and stayed cool even when stressing. Like many have stated, all CPU's are slightly different .. just cause yours melts at 1.6 and wont charge doesn't mean this will happen for anyone trying to run 1.6GHz.
sent from my SGSII... suckas
Try bumpin' up the voltage 1-2 notches.
Just to add to the stats...
I've been able to run @ 1.4 with the same voltage as 1.2, but my phone will freeze once in a while when running apps like camera or navigation. Had to bump the voltage up slightly to get it stable, though I will likely just run 1.2.
I cannot run at 1.6.

Try changing or updating your kernel. Im the OP and had the same problems. with the new siyah kernel at 1.6 even if i try i cant make it lock up or freeze.
Your processor was made from a different silicon wafer than other people's phones and was rated for 1.2ghz.
Since each wafer is different, some processors take voltage better than others as well as speed. It happens.

theres no safe overclocking. moreover each and every device is unique even for the same model.

I have benched using AnTuTu twice and have excellent read and write speeds, compared to other benchies I have seen, OmegaRom is the best Rom I have ever used!
Cheers,

I don't Think U mustuse over clocking, even my setting was min245 max 902,the effect just draining more battery, and if using to much can damaging ur prosessor
I know you might think what I'm going to write is unnecessary and going to contradict with your believes here. but I'm going say it anyway.
If you are going to use your device for a long time then I would suggest not to overclock too much. You'll know when something will go wrong with your over-clocking. Your SGA would start rebooting randomly. Heating up would be excessively common once you start overclocking, using your SGA while it's charging. Over clocking will definitely reduce your processor life span. People who do can over clock their device to get the max out of their device and know they're going to change the device in sometime later anyway.

Don't worry! Like I said, I have experience O/C'ing processors etc and I know how bad the effects can be! I am not going for a massive overclock at all. Just a tiny bump in the speed. At the moment, I am running 825mhz and already the speed has improved dramatically. I may go a little further but 902mhz is a bit mental for my liking.

the game play better in 20% but still have some lags (dead trigger)
and my cpu cant push to 1700mhz...
i did min 1700 and max 1700 on max proff... and cpu clock stick to 1600mhz...
maby i got failuer on cpu??
i did notice before that my battry draind very fast....
and battry and camera area get overheat very fast in games... !!overheat!!!! means that u almost cant move ur hands on the tuch cuz its make them stikky
and if i go to stteings>developer options >show cpu usege... i can see only 3 cores working and not 4.. as i shueld see...
(battrey save is off)
why im allwas stuck with the failur products ]=
]=
lol. You have me a nice little laugh.
DON'T put your phone at min 1700MHz. You will basically fry out the phone.
Also, why would you be going passed 1700MHz? The phone has a 1.7GHz processor. 1.7GHz = 1700MHz.
IF you want to go passed 1700MHz, you have to wait for a custom kernel that supports overclocking. Until then, you will not go passed the factory speed of 1700MHz.
MAKE SURE TO SET THE MIN BACK TO IT WAS!!! anything over 434 is practically useless. It'll just drain your battery, overheat the phone and fry your phone out, especially when min and max is at 1700MHz!
Oh yeah. If you use SetCPU, you have to choose "Set on Boot". But make sure you give it the right settings or your phone will bootloop.
the point is that i dont try to pass the 1700... but i cant reach him..... cant pass the 1600.... im not try to oc it...
its gets overheat with or without the cpuset ... and was like this from the moment i did unbox the phone...same as for the lags... (eaven in homescreen)
the battrey drain out eaven on low usege games... games that i did play on my iphone 3gs for 4-5 houers in and still had 30% left now drain my battry in 2-3 houers...
so much issues with stock normal phone somthing maby worng here dont u think?
and i bet for the hadware ... and not the software
for gaming first try the geming boost app (use search and you'll find it) this should fix most of your problems.
and further: don't set your CPU at constant maximum, this will eat your battery for breakfast.
keep the min/max values stock and if you still have lags in gaming you could try other governors with this app. but as i said... first try the gaming boost app, that really should do the trick
So you are saying your phone wont run at 1600mhz. How are you testing this? please explain in detail what software you are using and what test etc. I agree with the gaming booster app for gaming issue but it seems you are having greater issues. a 1700mhz phone should run at 1600mhz. We'll help you figure it out just need a little more info.

cpusets gets me 15% better gaming but still lag and somthims shatter
with game boost
almost the same ... a little bit smoother... but still dead trigger lag alot... and after 10min of gameplay its getting hot and the fps hard drop almost to slowmotion ...
shadowgun working good ...
gta 3 1.3 tegra moded work so bad and laggy still
dead trigger still lags
beach buggy blitz lags too (alot after 10min of gameplay)

So mi9/9se/9t got some nice mods for screen overclocking, anyone done anything similar for mi8?
Also would like to know, if it possible.
There was an option on some old extreme kernel, but if it possible to implement to a Newark revolution or another?
Because there are always an option of save screen overlock, like on a PC or laptop.
i am too would like to know if it possible.
but i think mi8 max can reach 70hz.
On the Extreme Kernel 75hz is too much laggy.
Yes some people tried it and if I remember correctly they used the existing mod and it worked temporarily until it damaged their phones.
Search, and you will find the threads where people were trying to fix their phone afterwards.
Just sell your phone and buy one with that capability, I would bet that it's not worth the extra cost.

The simple answer - because everything on phone would be much smother, without any drawbacks (only small with battery consumption, but very, very small). There should be safe overclock for every display - yeah, 84Hz is toooo high, but 70 should be just fine for screen.

But go ahead and do what you want, the warning is for the people wanting to do things safely.
I would advise that you search XDA and find the many people with many different types of phones who damaged their phones using GPU overclock mods not designed for their device.
Overclocking the display makes as much sense as removing the thermal config files to get a higher AnTuTu score. Does it work? Yes, until Black screen.
Again, do what you want :
a overclock file for the display is already available that will install on the Mi8. Go find it and enjoy it for maybe a few days until your display stops working and the only solution is replacing the motherboard.
Enjoy :good:

Dude, why don't we overclock the display?
Why not ask for more when we have this opportunity?
i think 70hz is possible. If there was an application(or tool) to set it up, I'd have already tried it.

Addition to the previous post, 10 fps will do no favors to your experience. And if it was safe, xiaomi would deliver the device with this modification. Who would limit a feature while they can advertise it and sell more? You have a decent flagship device from last year and it's still very powerful against tree he majority of the devices in the market. If it was possible, I'm sure this brand would do it.
It's unsafe and many people are saying that it actually makes the device lagging, instead of the expected "smoother" experience. 60 fps is enough, and more than this is just fantasy and it'll make you no better than you currently are in any online games. If you want proof, go to the extreme kernel thread and you'll see many people are suffering this laggy ui issue.

"Because it will damage your GPU. " made me burst out laughing lmao, since when overclocking the display has anything to do with the gpu lol wtf
Some guys were referring about kernel, but new devices are using patched dtbo.
Guess this is the correct way.

And your IQ is just laughable, and your lifespan is very questionable.
Firstly you need to understand what gpu does.
Higher refresh rate for display = higher refresh rate for gpu, which means your GPU will need to use more battery, and run faster to keep up with. This will also heat your GPU excessively which will damage it.

This is completely wrong. 60hz screen will send a command to your GPU to produce 60 frames per second. Phones are vertical synced. It will not damage the GPU at all.
For reference Razer Phone 2 does 120hz and it has the same snapdragon 845 which has the same GPU

It has a cooling system called "vapor cooling". You can buy a Razer Phone 2 instead, then.
You are claiming that I am wrong by repeating me in different words, very clever.

The cooling system is when the GPU is being demanded heavy resources which is GAMING and only GAMING!
Displaying normal apps (reddit whatsapp instagram email) and the home screen will not stress the GPU it can display over 300 fps and it won't need any cooling as it will not run hot.
I have the razer phone 2, if what you are saying is true my phone will be a constant hot potato since 120hz will always stress the GPU.
The Mi8's screen is designed to handle 60hz safely. The GPU can blow the display and it will keep running normally.
Please do not spread wrong information, I am not repeating you at all, what I am saying is completely contradictory to what you are saying.

When you laugh at people's iq and lifespan,it means there are no point of having any argument with you
