my cpu is fail?? cpuset cant pass the 1600mhz... - HTC One X+

htc one x+ stock 4.1.1 - 1.16.401.6
rooted
after all my lags ... tryd as u recommended to use cpu set and put my device on maximum cpu to try gaming...
the game play better in 20% but still have some lags (dead trigger)
and my cpu cant push to 1700mhz...
i did min 1700 and max 1700 on max proff... and cpu clock stick to 1600mhz...
maby i got failuer on cpu??
i did notice before that my battry draind very fast....
and battry and camera area get overheat very fast in games... !!overheat!!!! means that u almost cant move ur hands on the tuch cuz its make them stikky
and if i go to stteings>developer options >show cpu usege... i can see only 3 cores working and not 4.. as i shueld see...
(battrey save is off)
why im allwas stuck with the failur products ]=
]=

lol. You have me a nice little laugh.
DON'T put your phone at min 1700MHz. You will basically fry out the phone.
Also, why would you be going passed 1700MHz? The phone has a 1.7GHz processor. 1.7GHz = 1700MHz.
IF you want to go passed 1700MHz, you have to wait for a custom kernel that supports overclocking. Until then, you will not go passed the factory speed of 1700MHz.
MAKE SURE TO SET THE MIN BACK TO IT WAS!!! anything over 434 is practically useless. It'll just drain your battery, overheat the phone and fry your phone out, especially when min and max is at 1700MHz!
Oh yeah. If you use SetCPU, you have to choose "Set on Boot". But make sure you give it the right settings or your phone will bootloop.

the point is that i dont try to pass the 1700... but i cant reach him..... cant pass the 1600.... im not try to oc it...
its gets overheat with or without the cpuset ... and was like this from the moment i did unbox the phone...same as for the lags... (eaven in homescreen)
the battrey drain out eaven on low usege games... games that i did play on my iphone 3gs for 4-5 houers in and still had 30% left now drain my battry in 2-3 houers...
so much issues with stock normal phone somthing maby worng here dont u think?
and i bet for the hadware ... and not the software

for gaming first try the geming boost app (use search and you'll find it) this should fix most of your problems.
and further: don't set your CPU at constant maximum, this will eat your battery for breakfast.
keep the min/max values stock and if you still have lags in gaming you could try other governors with this app. but as i said... first try the gaming boost app, that really should do the trick

So you are saying your phone wont run at 1600mhz. How are you testing this? please explain in detail what software you are using and what test etc. I agree with the gaming booster app for gaming issue but it seems you are having greater issues. a 1700mhz phone should run at 1600mhz. We'll help you figure it out just need a little more info.

tested using cpuset... if i try to push it to 1700 he dosnt pass the 1600mhz just capped there....
100mhz diffrent is huge!!! not beacuse of the numbers... just beacuse its pointed about heavy issue... with electric or volt's failur or maby eaven failur cpu product
cpusets gets me 15% better gaming but still lag and somthims shatter
with game boost
almost the same ... a little bit smoother... but still dead trigger lag alot... and after 10min of gameplay its getting hot and the fps hard drop almost to slowmotion ...
shadowgun working good ...
gta 3 1.3 tegra moded work so bad and laggy still
dead trigger still lags
beach buggy blitz lags too (alot after 10min of gameplay)

I don't think anyone has started to work on OC, but we would need to see what kernel sources we have first... Then we figure out how to OC
also it gets hot with long wifi downloads or 3g ie gps using aura so overclock may not be a good idea.

Overclocking doesn't mean that the CPU will get hotter as long as you aren't changing the voltage. If the CPU handle 1.4 Ghz on the standard voltage, it won't get warmer and also won't consume more battery.
Dual 1.4ghz wud b pretty sweet lol wat if we increased it to 1.6ghz n just increased the voltage a lil bit or is that a bad idea n p.s is it me or since Root my fone only reaches 3.5k on the quadrent ive deleted alot of samsung apps n my memory is usualy at around 250mb iv seen people score ova 4k in their s2,

Might be a good idea, might not work because the CPU might already be near it's maximum. It'll definitely be worth it if you want to push out amazing benchmark scores, though! Just might not be stable enough to use for a daily phone if overclocked heavily.

This is completely wrong. It is very well known that incresing the frequency increases the power consumption (also with same voltage). Just google if you don't believe me.

What a lot of bull**** dude.
Of course more speed on a processor will consume more power even if dont change the voltage.

at&t note runs on one processor?!

Ok so im rooted and overclocked and was using setcpu then decided i wanna try something different so i tried system tuner! When i checked the cpu it said that one of the processors are off line! Then i pressed the info button and sure enough it says only reading one! So i went through the settings and found force both cores online!
Since then i have no lag and virtually no checkerboarding on the web! Anyway i was just wondering if im the only one who noticed this and maybe it could help those who say that they are still getting lag on they're roms using dag's kernel!
Also i hope devs will notice this thread since i can't post there yet and take advantage of this how ever they can!
Now don't quote me on this but most likely the second core only turns on for processor intensive activities such as high graphics games or multiple programs running at once. I do find it hard to believe that it would be totally disabled. Most likely this is done to conserve battery.

Okay if this really is the case I could also see at&t disabling the second core totally to save battery because of lte but i guess it will take a dev that has more experience with how qualcomm's multicore cpus work in android. report back with differences in battery life like how much faster does it drain now that both cores are forced on.
if you want both cores on click on boot settings and enable force all cpus online. that heats up your phone and eats more battery though+I do not see any benefits doing that.

Same, but having a better processor helps. Like exynos. I bet once we update to ics if it ever happens, the differences will be only minor between processors, as it runs so nice.

Not entirely true.. the Galaxy Nexus has a kernel governor that turns one core off when the SCREEN IS OFF, but not when the phone is being used. Multiple kernel creators have since implemented this into their kernels. It is called "hot plugging" and it just turns CPU 1 offline when the screen is off and turns it back on when the screen is on

Just checked mine, rooted and OC with DaG's 0.1 version (first version). When I looked, it said the second CPU was offline. Changed it to online, we'll see how that impacts battery life.
How much of an advantage is smartassv2 anyway?
I just tried this with system tuner and both cpus were working but wone was of and on and zero was always on.
I am running stock rooted. If you just sit yhere and watch it you will see tje sevond core fires and shuts down alot.

I guess jury is still out or is this a YMMV kind of thing?

I don't know why everyone is in such a rush to force the second core online, it turns on and off when it needs to.

Games constantly freezing

I know EXACTLY what you're experiencing. I HATED when that used to happen to me...
A fix that I tried and currently still use, is to use CPU Master (or I guess any other app that let's you set your CPU speed and over/under clock)
I usually set it to min. 1000mhz and max. 1200mhz, and voila, problem solved

that's still some pretty massive overclocking, running your CPU so high all the time will eventually eat up a lot of battery.
I think it's a problem with the phone's kernel not being very well optimized. Or.. maybe it's the developers who haven't optimized their games for dual cores, idk

CPU locked at 800Mhz during 3d Applications

I have noticed that whenever i play heavy 3d games, my cpu only runs at 800 mhz..even though the scaling is from 200-1200 mhz. First i thought it was a problem with a specific game(The dark knight rises), but now i tried Mass effect infiltrator too..same thing happens..
I wouldnt have bothered too much but i get some fps drops..i expect 'smooth as a butter' experience from S2..which i aint getting..while playing 3d games..
Some one might argue that maybe the game requires only 800 mhz to run..but i seriously doubt it..in 3d applications(heavy) , the processor should be used at higher frequencies. Also, i tried scaling my cpu from 1000-1200 mhz, but still while playing games, the cpu goes back to 800 mhz lol..
Please someone explain this and also Try it on your device..do u notice the same results while playing a heavy 3d game?
I tried running stock kernel as well as siyah 3.3.2. getting same results on both.. tried different governers too..but same thing
I am on neatlite rom currently..could it be the rom thats the culprit?
Please someone do help me, i am getting frustrated with my S2 lol..

It could be due to smooth scaling setting bug from earlier siyah kernel, or throttling due to cpu temperature.
Try flash the latest siyah kernel and set smooth scaling level to 1200mhz.
i have set smooth scaling to 1200 mhz.. and yeh i guess it could be the throtling issue but why is it happening?
I mean i can run a 2d game like mutant roadkill on 1200mhz but when i try to run heavy 3d games..they just run at 800 mhz..
I did read bout this throttling issue to 800mhz but what can i do to avoid it? The phone doesnt get too hot either though..

wrong thread and wrong forum my friend this is for s2
also, perhaps you should use setCPU to check some clock settings
I just tried infiltrator, and my device uses highest 1200mhz normally, so i guess it must be kernel/rom related. I'm running rr 2.6.1 with latest dorimanx 5.67 kernel. It might be something about neat rom that prevents your device from using max clock, since neat rom is very battery friendly, but i'm not sure... would be nice if someone using the same rom as you could try and confirm.

Eliminating lags in games

Hello,
I have tested the app from the playstore "Tegra Overclock" (the app needs root!!!) with my HOX+ and I'm very impressed.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tegraoverclock&hl=de
The micro lags, especially in 2D games, comes from the GPU.
The GPU is locked to the clock of the CPU.
When the CPU has a lower clock, the GPU also has it and that is the reason for the lags.
I tested it with the game "Rayman" and I could eliminate 95% of the lags.
The only thing what i have done is to set the GPU clock with the app in 3D to 520MHZ and in 2D (to the half) to 260 MHZ, so they aren't locked to the CPU clock anymore.
I want to share and to discuss the experiences with the HOX+ between the users with this app to share and to find out the best settings.
Does some one has other configs which are more battery friendly (and are also eliminating lags) ?
I think, that the micro lags in games like Rayman and TempleRun2 and so on are a big disadvantage of the HOX+ and the app helps us in an easy way and without a custom kernel or custom rom to eliminate micro lags.

What is the best settings for gaming and some battery with this app? Doesn't seem to work for cpu clock. I set max and tegra cap both at 17 and min at 10, hit apply and also check apply on boot. Close the app and open it again and the min and max are both at 17, obviously doesn't save the settings. This is what I've noticed so far with this paid app. I play sushi chop and it runs flawless, zero lag now. Never really lagged before but sometimes choppy, not anymore. I have you settings at gaming normal think its like 328mhz and have 2d settings the same. This setting seems to stick after closing the app and also on boot. I have master boot checked so these should all take effect on boot.

I only made the settings i described and my battery consumption seems to be good when i want to save battery, i tick the HTC stock energy save mode to max the CPU to 1,3 ghz.
I think that the CPU settings are saved, you will notice it when you try 1,5ghz as max for example.

You are probably using ondemand governor! if you wish that settings applied by you remain same then choose interactive or conservative. The problem is not of our app but its due to crippled ondemand governor that takes its own decisions.

You're right, I have on demand. I understand the app description in the market place says its newb proof but guess not as I don't even know what on demand, interactive, conservative, etc mean to the end user. I hit legend on each page to learn but on some pages such as this one in the app it can be very vague at best at explaining the options. Guess ill try interactive even though I have no idea the difference between that and conservative.

Guess you are right, never thought actually a person who can root necessarily know these terms. We will surely add some Real world examples to make it simpler to understand
We will add some homebrewed profiles based on user feedbacks to help new users who knows less in this regards.
For now its best explained as :
Consider your phone Cpu as a hotel and a governor is kind of its manager, obviously if you choose wrong person to manage then you loose earnings. In smartphone regards choosing wrong governor can lead to unbalanced performance/battery(as its equally valuable to money here!).
Now we don't wish to drag you in every governor details for now, just cut the talk and check if changing governors solve your problem and as a piece of advice DO NOT CHOOSE OTHER THAN Interactive, conservative, ondemand.

This is good for now, thank you for this. Trying interactive and seems to be working just fine and battery seems to he ok as well.
Rooting now a days or at least this device is amazingly simple as the devs here have made it for us. Literally point and click a few times and ur rooted, lol! Very easy.

Maybe some devs with more experiences and knowledge can find out better/best settings for us, because real racing 3 runs on my device with around 15-20fps...maybe we'll get some advice from the pros

I set the FPS to the highest the app says which is 60fps. I then ran the citadel benchmark app and got the worst FPS rating ever which was like 42 so not sure

Update
Just ran Epic Citadal benchmark again on battery save mode using lateset elegancia colored Rom and after using this app and now getting worse ever FPS benchmark of 36! WTF?
I've attached photos of the only changes I've made using this app. I again set min cpu to 96000 while on battery save mode but again as u can see it never saves the settings or at least doesn't display the setting is saved as seeing above in the picture below, has all settings at 1.3ghz and using interactive as instructed and of course hit apply.
What boggles my mind though is I'm noticing games actually working better where they use to be choppy on battery save mode, now not choppy.
Just to use as reference before using this app. Using the Rom I stated I would on average on battery save mode get a benchmark of 47-48fps. Without battery save I would get on average 52-54fps. Now my fps on battery save is around 36 and without battery save is around 41.

First try to solve the frequencies not sticking with conservative governor now... Second Go to FPS section and enter value 0 and hit apply twice after that reboot(normal reboot not the quick one)! this will reset any settings you made, as your benchmarks shows you are limiting FPS. Now check again and please report. Also you get reduced choppyness because you are still getting FPS in range 30-40 in games.
There is one secret : When you are playing game and getting 50-60 FPS and suddenly a complex scene arrives and lower this to nearly 30FPS this although is above 30 FPS but our eyes can notice the difference (The transistion from say 60 to 35) and hence we feel like something is lagging. When you set the FPS to 45 then this transitions results in lags that are difficult to notice

Ok a little better now. So are you saying that interactive governor is not sticking my frequencies? This is what i had and the app shows different frequencies than what I set when I back out of the cpu option and go back in like I did nothing.
Well I changed governor now to conservative (frequencies still don't stick when u back out of cpu option and go back in) and I changed fps to 0 and apply twice and full reset as instructed.
Good news is that now epic Citadal benchmark brought my fps on battery save mode to 46.8 which is basically what it was before installing ur app so I guess all in all no real change in this regard unless I'm missing something? Thought the whole reason of fps setting is to have constant 60fps if set to this, not fluctuating?
Thank you and really appreciate your help in this. This is all new to me. just trying to take full advantage of this device mainly for gaming as I like to game a lot.
Basically why I bought this device as it was falsely advertised at the time of its release as one of the best gaming devices on the market for mobile. Guess the fine print never said that is not the case for gameloft games (or really any game that isn't tegra optimized which is only a handful at best) and that u can only game for 20min intervals before the battery goes down by 35% and feels like its going to explode from heat! Lol

The frequencies stick only if you put both the min and max at the same frequency as specified in the legend
*For example see pic*
The frequency when set at 1.7ghz max and min will still fluctuate between 500mhz and 1.7ghz according to the needs of the phone

Understood. Many people who purchased a phone/tab having Tegra 3 wished to play games.
First we would like to make it very clear that the frequency save problem is not a bug of our app but for some reasons the settings never stick. And it do not require you to have min and max the same! You will lose the battery very quickly..
Second thing is that FPS section is for limiting FPS in everything. For example if you are getting 46 FPS in benchmark then if you limit FPS to 40 then you will get max 40! But reverse is not true as you wished. FPS (Frames Per Second) is dependent on harware capability + Software complexity. A powerful hardware + least complex software produces higher FPS and reverse produces lower FPS.
At the time Tegra 3 was really powerful as no other company had a quad core device + a good GPU. The problem is competing phones were running at 960*540 resolution and Tegra has to run games on 1280*720 Resolution! The math is if you increase the overall pixels the you inturn increase the load too. But all tegra devices comes with this 1280*720 or higher resolution and there it has to work harder and hence the battery is lesser than other competing companies! The other bad thing with Tegra 3 was 40nm Fab technology (won't bore you with this stuff but the less this number is the better) and it was a quad core+ it was using an older architecture while the competitors launched their products later on with better architecture and 28nm Fab and hence thats the end of the Tegra Story
Battery can be preserved friend if you choose the frequencies and brightness of device smartly. lets say when you are pleased with 40% brightness then why go 100% and if you can run games smoothly at 1Ghz then why 1.7Ghz?

Just apply max and tegra cap at 1.7 if that is your wish and minimum frequency to 51(lowest) the system may show it 500 or so but at times it will get set too.
