i was very busy looking where are all the WiFi Error come from.
i found the solution but its not final until Motorola release some update
to separate the WiFi network from Sprint Super idiotic apps "Sprint Zone"
i just reflash'd the phone with the MR5 after reflashing it over and over again
with the MR3 & MR5 updates.
the solution is yet simple and is only for those who using the GSM\UMTS network only until a fix will made by Motorola & Sprint :
after re-flashing the phone with RSDLite to MR5 it will ask you to activate the
phone account with Sprint Zone.
don't allow it because after the activation the phone will restart and will **** the **** out of the WiFi.
the Sprint Zone is looking for Sprint network every time you restart the phone
so you need to change it again to UMTS on every Restart
how to close the Sprint activation you say?
for those who dont have data connection available it will be more
easy the Sprint Zone requires Data connection or sending free SMS
with Domestic Call & Data to Activate the phone.
after the Activation fails change the network back to GSM\UMTS and un-tick Roaming Guards and the wifi returns to Normal.
the major problem is when restart the phone all of the Settings
that you have done will begone so you will need to wait
again 2~4 minutes the phone to "Fail" in activation in order to
regain WiFi and network activity.
hope that helps...

This is relevant to development.

No. I am glad your wifi is working. I would suggest posting in the general section as this is has nothing to do with the development of this phone or android.

ok so..may the devs be with me and move this thread to the right and suitable place?
Amen!

[Q] Strange Vibrant Issue

High all. I just purchased a Vibrant today that was brand new in the box and had never been turned on. The first thing I did was unlock it to work with AT&T. Everything works including 3G, however whenever I try to select any option in wireless settings I get this message "Unable to change networks during data service activation. Do you want to disconnect the data service and change available network?"
Does anyone know what caused this and how to fix it?
Did it ever connect to a tmobile network or did you put in the att sim right away?

I put the att sim in right away as I dont know anyone with tmobile. There must be a way around it. Like in one of those hiden menus.
Its just a notification that its stopping data to find a new source. Mine does that when I switch it to "2g only". Its ok, idata will turn back on after a few moments
^^ yep, i get the same message when i toggle between 2g/3g. not a problem at all.
Ok thanks for the reply guys.

how to activate Photon if im not lives in US?

hello
having some trouble to activate my Photon 4G im not US resident
and every time after reboot the phone trying to connect to sprint network
but it couldn't of-course because i live in Israel and using different Sim card.
before the Update MR5 i was able to register my device but after the MR5
it's switch's to the Sprint network and says to call the costumer care service.
what is wrong?
Settings, wireless and networks, mobile network and then network mode? Have you tried that? That way it wouldn't search for Sprint.

what im sayng that im dont have sprint network in israel.
it wont activate it i dont know why.
the stupid update*&*&*&* all up.
----------------------
update
i dont know what i just did but its activated but again giving me "WIFI ERROR"
** MOD EDIT - Please refrain from vulgar language **
You need to put it in GSM only mode in network to work off your sim. If its set to cdma it will only search for those specific networks. Also you can do a manual setup by using the codes in the dialer. Not sure if they work but try *#*#3282*#*# and you will need your msl from your carrier to access. Or root it and use the msl app from the market
Edit its ##3282#

what i see that i can enter 6 digital code to enter
but i dont have it
i send an email to the seller that i'v bought this phone from.
hope that he can give me answer soon.
Why do you need your phone activated on Sprint if you're not going to be using Sprint?
The phone works fine without Sprint activation on an International SIM...

What is most likely happening is that the phone is trying to roam by default on Pelephone's old CDMA network (they have not shut it down, it is running in parallel with their newer 850/2100Mhz UMTS network). You can try to go into Settings->Wireless Networks->Network Mode and change it to "Any GSM/UMTS". See if that helps.
becuase everytime after the stupid update i was restarting the phone its trying to
access the Sprint network from some reason.
after i was activated the phone the wifi stopped working entirely.
I'm on an un-activated Photon and just updated myself. I do not seem to have the Wi-Fi issue you are having. Maybe it's something else...

GUARDIANBD, I am not sure why you are having wifi problems. With respect to your network issues, please confirm that you have indeed changed your network mode to "Any GSM/UMTS". If you have not done this then by not registering on Cellcom, your phone is actually acting as designed. Please understand that this phone is primarily a CDMA phone with GSM/UMTS capabilities added by Sprint as a "bonus" to their customers who go overseas.
Sprint is a CDMA carrier and if your network mode is set to just "Any Network" then they have correctly designed it to first look for a CDMA signal. If it finds one (which in your case it is finding Pelephone's old network), then it ignores any GSM/UMTS networks. If you did indeed change your network mode to "Any GSM/UMTS" and it still is trying to lock onto Pelephone's CDMA network then (and only then) you are right, the phone's software does appear to have a bug in it.
the first thing after i powerdup the phone for the first time i changed it to GSM mode.
like i say'd before its a bug in this update so i want to reverse the process and
return to MR1 update.
if i restart the phone in Airplane mode the wifi works like a charm
but after i change it back to GSM (and for some reason enables the 4G network with it) it disconnected from wifi.
Is 4G enabled on your phone?
Again, if you aren't on Sprint, it would be pretty useless to have 4G enabled.
Un-check 4G in Settings->Wireless & Networks and see if that fixes the issue for you...

[Q] Can't connect to data network

I got a Telus sgs2x a few days ago and I had the 4G sign on my phone then but now nothing I do is making it connect. I have been on a wifi network the whole time basically and I noticed that when someone tried to send me a picture it would not download. I had installed juice defender but took it off because I thought it might be the problem. I also tried a few different apps to switch data on but the 4G sign never pops up or anything. I can still call and text. I am using juggernaut 3.7 gingerbread 2.3.5 and it's a Telus phone not att.
I am sorry first post and it's in the wrong section I didn't realize.
Sounds like an APN problem. Try creating the AT&T APNs for your phone again. Look around the forum for them.
Haha it was an apn problem they had all been set to disable and after I reset my apn settings 4G turned back on. The holiday season must be getting to me.

How do I get rid of the little R above my signal bars?

Hey guy,
I have a little R above my signal bars in the top right corner of the notification bar. I recently factory reset my phone and now it is there.
I have turned off the User Data packs and mobile network and it is still there.
I have wiped all caches and done hours of research but I am still coming up with nothing.
Also on my lock screen instead of just having the time, date, etc...It has one section that says
Roaming............Home
Time.................Time
Date.................Date
It has two side by side instead of just one big one.
How can I get rid of the R and the roaming time and date on my lock screen?
All help is appreciated.
I am running Cf-Root-SGS3-v6.4
That R, and the description on your homescreen, mean that you are in Roaming mode; you are not in your own carrier's network.
Try connecting to your provider's network, maybe your phone somehow chose the wrong one. (Altough I have no clue how that could happen)
Do you live in an area with poor signal coverage or near a country border?
No I dont live near any borders. I am in the middle of a big city with great coverage. I selected T-mobile as my carrier. When it scanned there was only two options, T-mobile or At&t...I chose T-mobile since that is my carrier.
After selecting, it told me that I was registered on network but my problem didn't change.
Any more ideas?
Any thing else I could try? I called T-mobile and they said they would refresh the connection but I am still having the same issues.
Can you try this ?
Go to Settings / Security / Lock Screen Options.
Disable dual clock on lockscreen while roaming.
Enable it again, it will then ask your current city.
Choose your home town or pick the one with same time change.
I posted a thread about this too.
I did NOT have this issue untill i got the latest update from Kies (friday the 6th).
Now i'm forever in roaming mode as well... cannot seem to turn it off.. I'm on tmobile the phone says it, i've scanned it three times and always selected tmobile..
Really aggrivating..
seems to be something with tmobile and the newest firmware
Build number IMM76D.i9300XXBLFB here.

Just untick roaming in settings, more settings, mobile networks, roaming.
BTW YOU`RE IN THE WRONG THREAD, THIS IS FOR THE INTERNATIONAL S3.
YOU COULD FLASH ANOTHER MODEM IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS.

If you saw the firmware he posted it says i9300. This is the i9300 forum.
OP, are your APN settings correct?

I have all the correct apn settings and I even went into t mobile to confirm. They didn't have any idea. Their answer was I had a bad phone and should exchange it. My response in my head was, "thanks but...I am sure that Global Mobile doesn't want my broken rooted s3 back haha.."
Helpful, Thank you!
My samsung galaxy s3 is still roaming and I have all the steps I saw in here
go to settings>more>mobile networks>network operators>automatically choose preferred network(Choose automatically)........then you wait for network signal to appear on its normal state.
