hy everyone...
i have my Hero rooted, and I pushed Superuser.apk and everything is fine...
but, I can't make apps2sd working...
can anyone help me with this...
thanks a lot..
You'd probably have to be a bit more specific about what isn't working for people to be able to help you.
However, a common thing I've heard with apps2sd which might be your problem is the following: the phone actually has to store some of the application in the phone itself even if the majority of the application is on the SD card. Therefore it can appear like your application is on the phone even with apps2sd working properly. The way to check this would be to check how much space is available on the phone, download and install a large program from the market and then see if the decrease in space available on the phone is the same as the size of the program you downloaded.
Well steve...
I formated my Hero last night, wiped it clean, and than i rooted it and pushed 'su' and 'Superuser.apk' and every thing is working. moved my cache into sd...
and i partitioned my 4GB SD card into 3 partitions:
1. 100MB Linux-swap
2. 512MB ext2
3. the rest into Fat32
I rebooted my Hero, it did recognize my SD.
but still apps2sd does not work...
1st edition of the application gives me that my SD isn't formatted properly and the second edition comes to the reboot button and doesn't reboot...
NOT WORKING
i can reformat my second partition (ext2) to ext3 or ext4 but don't know will it help...
Should I update my Firmware..?!
Thanks for ur time...

I think rooting alone is not enough to get A2SD to work. You actually need the app A2SD in the /system/bin folder of your phone. Why don't you simply flash Modacos rom 2.6 which comes with automatic support for A2SD? For that, you would need Ext3 partition.
thanks salmanbodla
my problem is that I am on the move all the time...
don't have wireless connection in the car or train for my laptop all the time, and can't use the phone alone to do that,,,
I have only one day OFF and I am trying to do all that next week
if there any other tips to get apps2sd work with out flashing the rom it will be nice...

I can't think of a simpler way than the one I suggested. Seriously, it is very quick... all you need is to download the right stuff from these forum's (Hero Android Development) as well as the Android SDK so that you can use ADB (if required... that's actually optional). Can you not wait until your next day off ad try it then?
))
yes, I can wait...
thanks a lot
I just want to thank everyone who tried to help me...
I downloaded Modaco's 2.7 ROM and updated my phone... Now everything is working perfectly... all three partitions are working, the phone is fast, and has a lot of memory...
there are some new stuff on it... its good )
now I can travel with all my emails working perfect, and all apps and maps...
and no worries that my phone will tell there is a shortage in the memory...

btw, those eager to try external keyboard already can give it a try with all the BT progress made by fattire (the real hero).
Since I want to stay on the safe side myself, I compiled this 2G SD image that you can boot into and have working bluetooth (keyboard and external audio confirmed working). Of course use at your own risk and such:
http://handhelds.ru/nook/2g_bt_card_image.img.gz
go to settings -> wireless & networks
make sure that bluetooth is enabled and then you can explore and pair devices in "bluetooth settings" there.
Range so far is in the area of 13", so usable for a keyboard at least.

Hopefully the author (verygreen) will be able to post here and support users, especially since this is the first public SD build of CM7. I plan on trying this myself tonight, but since i am at work, i cannot do so yet. Any feedback will be great for the author and community.
Have at it folks!
You guys are absolutely amazing. I'm going to try this the first moment I get. I love this community!
U guys rock!
Thanks everyone for your hard work!
Just threw it on a Lexar Calss 4 8gb, and it ran nice, and discovered my eris via BT, but that's as far as I got. I plan to play more this weekend, but I'm sure everyone else will be playing with it in the next 15 minutes
awesome work! I think i may wait until it's incorporated into the CM7 nightlies as I like running from eMMC rather than SD, but good to see this getting going.!
good to see range up to 13'!
EDIT: whoops noticed it was 13 inches not feet. my bad!
Paired successfully to my Jawbone.
planning on trying this out as soon as I get home. one question. what happens with the rest of the space on an 8 gig SD card? is it accessible?

You can just resize the 4th partition to take advantage of the whole card - otherwise it's lost
Sadly I booted it up fine and it looks great but I couldn't get bluetooth to turn on on my Nook. I also couldn't get it to connect to my WPA2 wireless so I had to reboot back to my usual OS. Looks promising, though

Just to dispel before rumors start or people say it doesn't work, based on what I read, it is 13" (inches). Think the original discussion said possibly 1-5 feet. Don't want people to walk 10 feet with their headset on and say there's issues...
GREAT WORK DEVS!
I have it on a SanDisk 4gb class 4 i think and running well. Does flash work well?
I wish I had a BT keyboard or gamepad to try this out right now. This is definetely one of the most important developments in Nook Clor history. The (affordable) ultra-portable hybrid netbook has finally become a reality. A huge hanks to everyone involved!!
how would I extend the partition? Through Disk Utility? I'm on a mac.
When I made my HC image, I had to use fusion and grab the partition app everyone on here uses for windows. All the terminal or disk utility commands said card was unwriteable. I bet there is a Linux utility that terminal will support, but I did not find it.
Good luck. Will post the app name when I am at my computer.

Sorry for the noob question, but is there any way I can get market on this? Not sure how to do it running off SD.
for some reason it isn't booting into cm7. I guess I am going to format the card and try again. Would the best way to format it just be to do it directly on the nook?
also easeus worked with windows bootcamp. It was easy to increase the partition.
I use parted and gparted on Linux to resize SD card image partitions.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
got it running. seems to be running fine.
I know this is a stupid question because I'm sure it is answered somewhere but I couldn't find it. Does CM7 come with the market or do I need to download it? If so, from where? Thanks!
edit : OK I actually did find the answer. You have to flash the GAPPS separately. Instructions/Download link here.

I was able to get Market working on this SD image using the Honeycomb market fix:
http://nookdevs.com/Honeycomb_Google_Apps_and_Market
The only thing I did different was get the more recent gapps.
BTW - Thanks to verygreen for the first SD version of CM7 I was able to find.
I could not get Bluetooth to work (didn't spend alot of time.).
More Technical Information Proceed at your own risk
To extend the 4th partition I inserted the card into my Linux box and then deleted the 4th partition and then recreated it will all the space and then formated it with mkfs.vfat
Code:
# unmount all mounted partitions on the sdcard (A# is your sdcard letter like) sdd
umount /dev/sdA#
umount /dev/sdA#
# etc..
cfdisk /dev/sdA
# Delete 4th partition
# Recreate 4th partition as primary with all remaining space
# Set 4th partition type to 0C (same as 1st partiton)
# Write changes to disk
mkfs.vfat /dev/sdA4 #Should be the number of the new partition you set up.
It also mounted the first fat32 partition as my SDCard. I had to modify /etc/vold.fstab and change the mount partition from auto to 4 to get it to see the partition 4 fat32 partition.
Code:
adb pull /etc/vold.fstab
# modify /etc/vold.fstab and change the auto portion of line:
# dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/mmci-omap-hs.0/mmc_host/mmc1
# to
# dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard 4 /devices/platform/mmci-omap-hs.0/mmc_host/mmc1
adb remount
adb push vold.fstab /etc/vold.fstab
adb reboot
Hope this helps and does not confuse!
Got it working with my foldable pda bluetooth keyboard. Im gonna see if i now cant get that bluetooth to work with froyo.

Just got X2.
It was decent deal and I think I like it so far.
That said, I have couple of questions/issues.
#1. When I put my DX2 into my old holster, it THINKS that I am putting it into car dock and that annoying car app comes on and I have to manually turn off the phone. Is there a setting to disable this?
#2. I noticed that DX2 has 2GB root partition and 6GB partition which it mounts to /mnt/sdcard (HIGHLY annoying IMHO) and mounts external sd card as /mnt/sdcard-ext/
Is there way to re-partition and make it 8GB root partition and mount the external SD card as /mnt/sdcard?
I saw the thread regarding swapping /mnt/sdcard and /mnt/sdcard-ext/ but it does not appear too elegant. I wonder whether some kind of partition editor can be used to re-partition the whole thing around.
Thanks.

If u are rooted and flash eclipse u will have the sdcard swap included in the rom. Nothing else needed to do but flash eclipse.
And also...eclipse is just amazing anyway
Sorry not much else to suggest.
(Make sure u are on 2.3.4 b4 flashing eclipse 1.0or later)
Welcome to the x2...good to ha e u here...hopefully u don't become frustrated like some here have become with this phone. It can be a little finicky but it IS a very fine phone imho(except for the music stutter issues )

I understand that some ROMs will include the sdcard SWAP function.
However, I was asking whether we can make one gigantic 8GB partition for the system and mount the SD card under /mnt/sdcard just like DX.
Just wondering.
Thanks.

Nope, can't do that. The only thing you can do is flash the SDCard filp-flop mod. This puts the SDCard as /mnt/sdcard and the 6GB (or what ever) internal storage as /mnt/sdcard-ext.
Hopes this helps.
Oh, referencing the holster thing. Two ways to fix that... First is kinda destructive. Find the little magnet in the holster and pry it out. (I don't have a holster so I don't know how easy that is to do.)
Second is easier. Again, I don't know if this works, but... Nothize, a developer in the Android Market created NoDock (NEED ROOT). It's $3.08, but he does have a trial to see if it will work with the DX2.
Ciao!

The only way I was able to fix this was to mount the SDCard over USB in Recovery Mode and reformat it. I lost what was on there, but it's working now.
I formated my card through windows 7 and I still have the same problem. I never had this issue on any of my previous rooted phones I am really gettin pissed with the lte...

Are you guys also having trouble accessing the Camera? Mine doesn't seem to pick up my SD card and only allows me to use the Camera using external storage...
Well when I pull my camera up my phone days " no external storage available" then at the bottom if my screen another pop up says "insert an SD card before using the camera" I have my SD in....idk what to do. I searched the threads already but nothing besides some guy saying format my SD...I did that but now I have the same problem along with my pictures and music being erased.

Well you could have put the files on your comp first and then reformatted, but I am having the same problem. I guess we just gotta hang in there. It will be fixed soon I hope.
I'm having the same issue with the Aug. 31 CM10 nightly. I cannot access my SD card. If I look in system memory, it shows the card and the size, but I cannot access it, same as you guys. Trying with TWRP to wipe, it shows a bunch of e: failed to mount /sdcard (invalid argument). Still no solutions?

I was able to mount the SDCard over USB in Recovery Mode and reformat it from my computer. Obviously I lost my data that was on the SDCard, but none of the apps I had running were affected. Once I did this and rebooted into CM10, everything was fine and I just made a fresh Titanium Backup of all of my apps. My previous TWRP Nandroids were on the SDCard, so they were lost, but I can always reinstall another ROM and restore my Titanium Backups and go from there. Hope that helps.
I had this same exact problem, but the external storage it is referring to is actually your internal sd card, and not the external.
What you need to do is go into TWRP and mount YOUR INTERNAL sd card (don't switch to external), and in windows 7 format it.

AWESOME! Thanks!
So I'm having a similar issue, except I didn't try to access the external sd card from TWRP. And yes I've verified its the actual physically removable card.
I can see it in the system storage menu. However when I try to access it in Estrongs, it's no longer mounted as ext_sd in the sdcard folder. I did some digging and found it's now mounted as external_sd in the root folder of the phone. Looking in the storage folder, it still shows up as sdcard1, and my internal storage is still sdcard0. This seems to have happened after I flashed one of the nightlies, like 9/1 or 9/2. Any ideas on how to resolve this?
I'd rather not revert to my last backup, which was a Sense rom. I think this is screwing with the media scanner, because none of my sounds for alarms calls or texts work anymore

this is a work around for the HTC method of listing the sd cards, in my opinion HTC really screwed the pooch with the way they labeled the file system. The way sense accesses the external sd is through a shortcut to the physical address of the external sd. It really screwed with apps like power amp which had no problem reading both cards but if for example you went to power amp and marked what folders had your music by selecting the folders through the ext_sd folder shortcut it would read and list your music twice. another user who flashed cm10 noticed this (not the ext_sd file problem but the way CM10 was confused by the structure) and quickly wrote (then generously shared) a script that would rewrite the address correctly. I guess that a similar script (or that very same one) was introduced to the installer for the nightly builds
Wow thanks for the clear explanation. I too thought the ext_sd method was screwy, with all of my custom notification sounds showing up twice. Any idea on how to fix my alarm and call sounds not working? Can't afford to miss a day of class lol
This isn't definite as I haven't had to but going to fix permissions might help if some programs aren't recognizing the file tree
Welp, it was worth a shot, but no go. Ima keep tinkering. Thanks anyway tho
Well here's what I did after I flashed the original rewrite script, I had to factory reset (changes survived)and then wipe system, then reflash the nightly build (fastboot kernel for boot 1.15+)
Edit: I still have the shortcut folder on my internal however its not linked anymore so nothing shows up, everything else works fine
Ok, tried a full reset, wiped data, system, caches. Ringtones are working again, as are text tones. Alarms, still silent as ever... I'm so confused right meow
Sorry to hear that man
I've installed HTC sync and Android/Java and have my EVO4gLTE rooted. I'm running Decks CM10 and love the interface. The problem is that when I turn on USB storage, only the internal SD card shows on my PC. When I would run stock Sense, it would show the external card.
I would much prefer to see the external card without having to physically remove it or copy to it using a file manager. TWRP has the option to mount internal or external SD's, and Sense gives several options when the device is connected to the PC.
I've searched multiple times and have yet to find an answer to this.
Big thanks in advance for any assistance.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't work. It only shows the internal SD card and not the external one.
Doesnt cm10 see sd as external instead of sd2? I know there was a mod to switch it around to flip it around so it sees the sd2 as sd(1).
Look in development section.
I thought the mount point swap was already included in the newer builds

Thanks very much for responding! I was wondering about two things, though:
1) will this script reverse the cards as seen only by the PC during USB mounting, or will they be reversed to the internal apps as well? In other words, will everything that was looking for something on SD0 not find it because it's now seen on SD1?
2) will this affect my external SD card such that I should back it up and/or format it beforehand? I know I should back it up anyway, but I was just wanting to know what to expect.
I really appreciate your help and input.

I tried it and it does indeed swap the drives. That was excellent work! I will probably run the script again the next time I do a full reset, since several of my apps will need to have their settings changed to recognize that drive as their location drive. By the way, do you have a script to swap the drives back?
I'm a little surprised, though, that considering how configurable CM10 is, that the ability to choose which drive is mounted to show as USB storage is not also configurable. With my Xoom, both drives show up when the device is connected to the PC.
Thanks again
