[Q] need guidance installing synergy rom - HTC EVO 3D

hello i have resently unlocked my bootloader through htc's unlock method. i then followed that with installing cwm 4.0.1.4 and then rooting my phone through cwm.
i have read over http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193948 to understand everything i would be getting with the synergy rom. however i cannot seem to find an installation guide anywhere and after researching everything thing i could find from my understanding i need to do these things
install my rom OM|Nightly|◄●|Synergy 3Dvo|●►|2.3.4RLS1(zeus mods)|☆TESTING EXT4 TWEAKS|
flash over a compatible kernel
flash over a proper radio img (which from my understanding if done wrong WILL brick my phone)
my questions are. 1 in what order do i do these things? 2 how do i flash my radio? 3 is this the correct command for flashing a kernel (fastboot flash boot bootimgname.img)
thank you in advance for any response and i do apologize for all the questions. im just really fearful of bricking a $600 phone

Simple
Ok first off odds are you have the latest radio go into settings>about phone> software information>more if your baseband version is 0.97.10.0808 you have the newest radio. To flash the synergy rom download the appropriate file plug in your phone to your computer and move the zipped file to the root of your SD card don't unzip it move the whole zipped file. Power off your phone and then holding the power button and the volume down button your phone will reboot just keep holding them until it does you will be at the boot loader after it runs through the loading option scroll down to recovery press the power button to go to recovery. Once in recovery scroll down to apply zip from sd card press the power button press the power button gain on choose zip from sd card you should now see the synergy rom you place there on the root of you SD card press the power button again to flash the rom once it had finished continue going back until you get to the main screen and click on reboot phone viola your done you don't need a different kernal the one that comes with the rom works just fin hope this helps if you get stuck you cam PM me and I will try and help

if your going to flash synergy use the offical build i wouldnt use the unoffical till u have tried out the rom. firt you will place the rom on sd card it doesnt matter where as long as you know where it is when you go into recovery after that reboot your phone then if you want flash a kernal you will also do that in recovery as for radios there is a sticky post in the cdma dev thread where it says root/roms/guide just go to the radio section if you have anymore questions ir need help with anything you can pm me anytime i will be more than happy to help

Thanks guys. I flashed CleanROM 2.3 right after I posted this. Its pretty much the same thing just wasn't sure and I've bricked an older phone before so I just wanted to makes sure I didn't do it with my 3d. Thanks again!

no problem if u ever need help with anything pm me i will happy to help

Hey so I installed synergy and ran into a few issues with it. One issue was none of the restart shutdown options function how they are support to. Most just reboot the phone rather than booting into recovery or shutting down. I also couldn't restore batch backups in titanium backup. I had a few other issues that are currently slipping my mind. Could this be happening because I'm using my stock kernel?

[Q] Problems flashing RezRom S4 MainVer help!

So I'm posting this here because I don't have enough posts to post in the thread for the Rom its self.
I updated my firmware and flashed this rom exactly like it said to in the thread, and I wiped everything before i flashed the rom its self, then flashed the rom, then the kernel install because I am s-on. This is where my problem lies, I did some searching and maybe I'm missing knowledge to do what posts relating to this said to do but when it went to flash the kernel in hboot, it gave me the Main Version is Older alert and the option to reboot. Now I'm stuck either going back to hboot just to have it try to reflash the kernel and bring back the error message or stuck at the sweet bootscreen |||bored||| put in this rom. If anyone can help me get past this this flash this kernel successfully it would be a big help and a big thank you from me.
I have the .zip that you can flash to write the main version in order for it to get over this problem but I have no idea how to get into recovery from where I'm at, it cant get passed the failed flashing in hboot and adb commands wont load recovery for me.

The fix is listed in boreds rezrom thread in one of his first couple posts. It even says mainver fix...
Sorry didn't read all the way. Lol my bad. Been awake 30+ hours now.
So two things you can do. Put the micro SD card into another phone or computer and temp remove the ph98img.zip file.
Two is pull the micro SD card out about halfway and put the battery in so it touched the contacts and turns on but don't put pressure on the micro SD card. Boot into hboot then lift the battery while pushing it against the contacts and push the microsd in and then volume down to recovery and power to chose and your in the recovery.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
Got it, thanks a ton!
I like the SD card halfway in trick because I don't have a micro sd to computer adapter that did the trick for me
Mirror for that mainver file...

[Q] How to Unlock & Backup Bootloader for Samsung Vibrant?

Hello,
I upgraded my Samsung Vibrant to Froyo 2.2 with Samsung Kies Mini several months ago. I reverted to Eclair 2.1 with Odin in order to install ClockworkMod Recovery and unlock my phone. Now my phone is unlocked, rooted and with ClockworkMod Recovery installed.
1. I want to flash custom ROMs based on either Gingerbread or ICS. I tried to unlock my bootloader by following the instructions on addictivetips.com (when I typed "fastboot oem unlock" it only reboots the phone). Why is it not asking me if I want to unlock the bootloader?
2. I did a Nandroid Backup and I wonder if I need to backup the boot partition anyway. If so, is it OK to do it with RomDump?
3. Since I reverted to Eclair 2.1, does that mean I have an Eclair bootloader? Or do I still have the Froyo bootloader? Will Gingerbread bootloaders work on ICS based ROMs?
Last... Could you please recommend ROMs to flash with Odin? The one I found on CyanogenMod comes with problems when dialing 911
Thank you for your patience!
Your rooted, and you have CWM. Your making it more difficult that need be.
Flash the ROM in CWM, with install zip from SD. Follow flashing instructions in the OP of the ROM.
There are custom GB bootloaders, I have them, but some people don't use them.

Hello again... Yesterday I was looking for some JB ROMs, and I found a tutorial on "How to upgrade the Vibrant T959 to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean via Helly Bean custom ROM" and it says it requires the GB bootloader (can I flash Helly Bean without it?). Then I went to CyanogenMod and the latest stable releases are CM7; for CM10 there are only nightly builds. I found a tutorial on how to install CM10 and it doesn't mention anything about the GB bootloader.
I was tempted to flash Helly Bean but the bootloader requirement confuses me. I don't know if I should keep looking for other ROMs, ignore the bootloader thing :silly: or settle with CM10.
Thank you for your patience!
As far as I know its not necessarily a requirement anymore, but maybe someone will post more detailed info for you. My buddy Samsgun357 has been on about every build of these JB ROMs you can think of, and has never flash GB bootloader.
On the other hand, I've been flashing around in the JB world, and I flash GB bootloader long ago. It's pretty painless and you only need to do it once. After you have GB bootloader its backward compatible, and so far forward compatible.
It takes about 30 seconds to actually Odin flash and its over. As long as you follow the guide to the letter, and you have a solid connection with Odin, you'll be fine.

There's a link to the correct thread, if you end up choosing to flash GB bootloader.

I appreciate all the help you have given me... I wish I could say I'm enjoying my new ROM, but something went wrong (probably I messed up) and now my phone is done. It won't get past the "Vibrant" screen, it won't boot into recovery and to make matters worse, the computer won't recognize the device. Now I have to read threads about bricked phones
Did you flash new bootloader? If you did, you may be unaware that the button combo for download mode, and recovery mode has changed.
Your phone is more than likely not "done".
Try pulling battery and micro SD and sim all out, and now depending on which bootloader you have, hold your button and pop battery in, and plug USB cable in. One fluid swift motion.
We'll get ya straightened out

I didn't flash a new bootloader.
I could get the phone on Download Mode. I opened Odin and loaded the pit & tar files in order to get to stock JFD. COM is on and after hitting Start the first cell says "set partition" but the progress bar is empty. Is not doing anything now but I don't know if its safe to unplug and do it again or try to open Recovery and restore my Nandroid backup instead
Please bear with me

[Q] My amaze won't boot after nightmare sense installation

I installed a nightmare sense rom for my phone, this was my first time flashing a custom rom, so it's likely I did something wrong. I installed it tee for tee from the video I watched from the developer. Any how it won't boot now, it just power cycles threw the htc quietly brilliant screen. I'm kind of new to adroid any one know of a way I can restore this thing? I got the bootloader unlocked, but I don't think its still rooted. I've been working on this for about 8hrs now trying various stuff with caution that i'm not screwing things up ore.
before you flashed, did you make a backup through recovery? What recovery are you using? s-on? s-off?

Thanks for the reply, I didn't make a backup, I am using twrp, and s-on. Am I screwed because I didn't make the backup?
if you came from stock, then you just don't have your stock rom anymore.
Use hasoon's all in one tool to flash a kernel, twrp won't flash that part for you, sounds like you're jsut missing that part of the install.
Then, install 4ext, which flashes kernel and rom for you, no matter what rom you decide to flash.

What's the risk of flashing kernels? The only mobile os I'm super familiar with is iOS(android turned out being sweeter haha) , but I have blown a baseband chip, basically I'm asking will I damage the hardware not executing that correctly? And do I flash the kernel with recovery or the bootloader booted up, (my only two options). My bad I am a noob, but greatly appreciate your help!
simple solution
Step 1: Boot phone into bootloader by removing battery then placing battery back in phone then turning phone on by holding VOL down and Power button
Step 2: use hansoons AIO toolkit while in bootloader to flash 4EXT recovery
Step 3: boot into recovery and use 4EXT's to mount your phone to the PC using their "toggle USB storage" feature which lets you access your SD card while in recovery
Step 4: place another ROM on your phone, and then disconnect phone from PC
Step 5: do a full system wipe before you flash new rom, Format DATA SYSTEM CACHE+DELVIK
Step 6: FLASH Rom you placed on SD CARD previously
Step 7: After flashing rom successfully go back into 4ext recovery or download 4ext recovery control, and make a NANDROID backup in-case you fk **** up later or again
STEP 8 ( HIT THAT THANKS )

I cannot thank you enough, your instructions worked perfectly. Unfortunately I selected a rom I don't think is that great(or I would just rather have the stock one). A million thank you's tho, U R AWESOME!! Finally an end to my stress induced ulcers!

it's not a problem, hehe. Ive gone through the same things and more the past week or so lol.. so ive seen a lot of problems that im able to fix, because ive caused most of those problems myself... i would recommend using either speed rom or fourth bar infusion because they seem to be the best looking function rom's out atm... well according to my standard i don't really like sense roms.. ASOP ftw!!

Causing problems + fixing stuff is literally the story of my life! I just haven't dabbled with android enough yet to have it down, and get really paranoid considering i've ruined an iPhone before. I actually really dig sense tho, being stuck with various iPhones for 3 + years w such a dull and plain user interface makes sense all the better(not hating on apple, still love os x). I'm downloading rebirth now, hopefully it's *****in haha. But seriously thanks again for your help, I feel like I have this shiznit mastered now!

flashing firmware??

stupid question time
I am S-OFF and been rooted / playing with roms for a few months now. my hboot is 1.12 afaik (can't tell in the rom im running)
I'm currently running a JellyBAM nightly from a month or so ago, and Komodo kernel.
Ive been having some minor issues, and I'm tempted to try other roms, and going through them I saw something about flashing firmware, which I never knew about. Is flashing firmware like flashing firmware for a router, ETC? I.E. It wont affect my ROM, Kernel, ETC?
currently I'm on baseband 1.02.12.0427. If i flash from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2045935&highlight=flash+firmware
using the first link:
PJ75IMG - No kernel, hBoot or recovery (If you're not sure which to use, use this one)
will I need to reinstall my ROM, or kernel? I'm guessing it wont affect my S-OFF or Root? Is there anything special I need to do?
thanks in advance, xda rocks.
Flashing that will just update your radio pretty much. It will not affect your Rom or s-off. You flash it through bootloader tho, NOT in recovery. You put that file named exactly PJ75IMG.zip on the root of your external sd card. (Not in any folders) Power off the phone. Turn it back on by holding volume- and power buttons. Keep holding both till it boots to bootloader. It will then ask you if you wanna update. Press volume+ for yes and let it do its thing. Make sure your battery has plenty of juice. After its done you may have to power off phone again and remove the sd and delete that file from sd or you may just keep looping asking you to update again and again.

HELP Rooted and Installed ARHD Now Phone Hangs at Quietly Brilliant

Sorry I'm a noob at all of this. Successfully rooted my phone today thanks to Honsoon2000's excellent tutorial and toolkit. Then I went to install Android Revolution, which appeared to go successfully and then after I flashed the kernel the phone wouldn't load and just hangs at the quietly brilliant screen. I followed Honsoon's tutorial to the T (or so I thought) and everything went perfectly until right at the end when I flashed the kernel. I can make it back to the bootloader screen though it says "failed to load usb master mode". I can still make it into fastboot and recovery mode...tried recovery, and the process seemed to go sucessfully, but the phone still wouldn't load after...tried reinstalling ARHD-- it's still on the sd card and the install procedure still goes off without a hitch, but the phone still won't load. I've searched around and tried everything I can, to no avail. Any help would be muchly appreciated, and I apologize in advance for being a noob wasting people's time.
Edit: For example, when I follow the steps outlined in the FAQ it asks me to enter the command 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' , but when I do it says 'error: cannot load boot.img'.
Edit 2: So I put my boot.img file from Android Revolution into the data directory of the rooting toolkit and was able to complete the above flashboot command. I was also able to install the ROM off my SD card...however the phone still hangs on the Quietly Brilliant screen...I can't even power the phone down...whenever I try it just reboots...frustrating...really hoping someone can help me...cheers.
Before you begin, make sure that the drivers for the One X+ are installed.
Place the boot image being used on the computer's hard drive.
Boot in to recovery and flash the ROM.
When that is done, boot in to bootloader and connect the phone to the PC via a USB cable.
If the phone isn't in fastboot mode already, use the volume keys to highlight the word "fastboot", then press the power button.
Now, there should be text at the bootloader screen that says "Fastboot USB".
Finally, use the toolkit or command line and flash the kernel with the fastboot command.
This should successfully flash the ROM and the kernel. Make sure you full wipe before flashing a new ROM. If you can't seem to get the new ROM booting, the final choice is to relock the bootloader and run a RUU.
Which phone version you do own? International or AT&T / TELUS?
Did you flashed the correspondant boot.img? Did you cleared the cache? ( fastboot erase cache)
I'm trying to run an RUU but it keeps saying the battery isn't charged enough to flash anything...and this after it's been plugged in all day. Oh dear I think my phone might be done...really sucks :/
Also, it won't let me power the phone down-- every time i try it shuts the phone off briefly and then opens back up to the bootloader screen.
Fixed thanks to sarcasticphoenix. Cheers.
OK so I've tried 3 times to flash a new ROM onto my phone (Android Revolution twice and Eleganzia once) using Honsoon's toolkit...I've followed every instruction to the T as far as I can tell and all 3 times the process has gone perfectly right until the end when I flash the kernel...after that when I reboot the phone it just hangs at the Quietly Brilliant screen. I know how to relock the bootloader, flash the custom rom and get my phone back...but I really want to know what I'm doing wrong so I can install a custom ROM. I know I'm using the right ROM for my phone and am wondering what gives. Being driven crazy here...any ideas what's going wrong here would be helpful. BTW on the last attempt right after I finished and the phone hung I went into the boot loader and followed the instructions in the FAQ for fixing a bootloop...still nothing.
Edit: Solved my problem-- I managed to successfully load eleganzia...the only thing i did differently the last time was flash the kernel BEFORE installing the ROM off the SD card.

Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
Which kernel are you referring too? Actually there is one or two kernels available but only for the International version, not the AT&T/TELUS which you seem to have.
I strongly suspect that your boot looping was because you didn't flash the boot.img file correctly or not at all. And you don't seem to install the good ROM version for your phone.
Elegancia has two ROM versions one for International and one for AT&T/TELUS users.
ARHD is for International users.
Please read Q12 of the FAQ.

Lol...yeah I don`t know how I missed that. I ended up getting elegancia successfully flashed and loaded so all is well. In retrospect this was a good experience because there`s nothing like having to get yourself unforked from a bad situation to gain an understanding of what`s going on. Cheers.
I have a couple questions and since I`m not allowed to post yet in the elegancia thread I'll try in this thread first:
1) An elegancia question: Is there a way (widget) to toggle data roaming on and off in this ROM?
2) Is there a way to tweak settings (transparent pull down, selection of launcher etc.) without wiping and reflashing the ROM?
3) What are people's favorite launcher for that ROM? I tried Atom but it was just a guess because I hadn't heard of any of them. I like it so far but am curious about the others.
