Brick recovery service - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know of a brick recovery service for the Streak? I don't have JTAG or RIFF box and would prefer to find a service to unbrick a Streak 5. I have a real brick no response to power or any other key. Will not turn on. It had to do with a firstboot writing error after flashing with the Softbank Rom. Had nothing to do with the Rom it was user (my) error.
Thanks
Arthur

I got mine Jtagged and after that the phone gets locked permamnently. It does not work even with AT&T Sim. It's not just me but there are few more whose phone got un-usable after JTag. It's just a WiFi Tablet now.
Replace the battery, press Vol Up button and connect to PC; if it's recognised then you don't need a Jtag, Streakflash and the QDL should fix it. I would suggest you google, do your research and look out for any alternative to Jtag. I did Jtag in Haste and phone function is gone now forever. I need to change Motherboard to get this working again or rather buy another tab.

[Q] Bricked Mobile : Which ServiceCenter in Gemany can help ?

Hi all,
I've a bricked Galaxy Vibrant T959 and blocked Recovery/Download Menu. Samsung reject the repairing because is not for the local market.
Now I'm searching a Service Center or someone else in Germany, which has can put the mobile into the DL-Mode via JIG ( Anyway Box) or via JTAG.
I'm still try to call different shops ( Handy Doctor etc.. ) but all which I 've call are working also "only" via the DL&Recovery Mode ...
Does someone help to find an address, where I can send the Mobile for repair?

can your phone still turn on? (i'm wondering if you can still use adb to reboot to download or recovery)

Yes, it can
> I can switch it on till the "S" is coming, after that BLack-screen and the 4 keys are lightning.
> If I connect them into the USB, the green battery come up and the phone spend, if the Battery is full
Unfortunately the Recovery / Download Menu is blocked ( I've bricked them 2 days before the Recovery fix was coming out ( I'm idiot ...)) and so I have not found anything to received the DL Mode.... ( I think I have try all, what I've found) the PC reported an unknown device and deactivate the USB- Port. I haven't also found, which driver I can press manual to this device, that Odin can handle this one ....
Hi well here in Köln there are plenty of Turkish German shops that I'm sure would try to help you out. The problem is they really don't have any tools you couldn't have discovered for yourself on XDA. T-mobile USA I heard are real sticklers when it comes to repairing rooted phones even when the problem is not software related. I guess that goes to show your chances if you would send in your phone.
Still, if no European service center is willing to help you and you have exhausted every possibility of fixing it yourself I suggest calling T-mobile USA and telling them you moved to Germany and now your phone miraculously went blank. You might just want to try your luck with their repair department. Generally speaking, it's not always discovered you basically jacked up your phone yourself!
Alternatively I would suggest calling T-mobile here, they might be sympathetic to your case, although I think it's a long shot. It would really require some lying and creative story telling your part to get them to exchange your phone for a German one. In my experience especially their business support center is given a substantial amount of leeway to help customers with unusual problems and ideas and isn't tied down by the same rules they work with at the customer service for private kunden. E.g. they once helped me getting out of a Dutch contract prematurely, which would not have otherwise been possible.
Good luck!
The only problem here is - T-Mo US and Germany- that I have no contract. I using a Sim from Alice and they a cooperate with O2 .....
I believe the only way is, direct to connect Samsung US.... No Service-Center has a Anyway box If they talk a little bit, they all work with the tools, which are available everywhere .... Sh...t - why Samsung is not willing to repair - also not for money ... Global player - nice joke....
Maybe someone has another idea? I don't want believe, that the phone is now expansive trush ... 5 min in use; the plastic on the screen is still there ....

well, this phone is supposed to be near unbrickable. though i've never experienced this problem, i'm pretty sure it sounds like it's a soft brick on a HW locked phone. i don't know if your phone is already set to usb debugging mode but i guess this is worth a shot if it is:
1. extract AndroidSDK to your c:/
2.get the drivers from this post and install (these are supposed to be the correct samsung drivers and hopefully your pc will see the phone with these)
3. Download these files to some place where you know they'll be (Odin, 512.pit, JFD.tar). Also watch the vid tutorial on how to apply files so you'll get an idea of how this works.
4. after all that is done, try to access command prompt (start btn > run> cmd in windows xp iirc or shift+right click on desktop if you're in vista - not sure if it's the same on windows7).
5. once cmd is open, type in cd c:\android-sdk-windows\tools (that's to get you to where adb is)
6. open up Odin and plug in your phone into the USB.
7. go back into the cmd prompt: the cmd line should now read like this c:\android-sdk-windows\tools>, if it does type in this command: adb reboot download
i've never done this but i think that should get your phone into download mode and get it readable to Odin so that you could manually flash to stock. i should warn you that it's probably going to erase your data on the internal memory and that there's a chance that this can result in a full brick but at least if this is done correctly, your phone should be able to fully boot.
p.s: i've read plenty of times that Odin can be finicky and it may take multiple tries before it sees your phone and highlights the COM port.
BTW: check the Vibrant Bible out, for extra research before you try doing anything to your phone.
I'm hoping that someone more experienced at flashing will chime in on this post.
Thx for the time, to write all the different Steps.
Unfortunately, the PC does not see the Mobile. The PC reported only " Unknown Device and after this one, the Port is closed. So I have also no access via adb to the phone. Odin can not select any COM about the same reason.
In the case, that the Recovery- and Download Menu will working, so adb and Odin will be working. About the Defensive Phone, the Port is not open and so the chance to repair this phone is only via Anyway-box (JIG) to force the DL-Mode over the USB-cable or the more time-expansive method via JTAG.

Did i bricked my device ?

ok guys.
i made this : fastboot erase boot -w
reboot
then i connct device to QDL.
QDL Runs and reboots after reboot it reboots as QUALCOMM MSDN DRIVER.
no fatboot no recovery no boot only 3 lights and QUALCOMM mode
any ideas
fastboot erase kills streaks since it's buggy on the streak, your streak is likely dead
i found the solution fit streakflash tool thanks to dj_steve
Did it work? If it did can you post the steps you did?
Normally QDL wont work when bricked with fastboot erase cache, either you found a way to fix it, or it can brick in different ways and some are in fact fixable
First download : STREAK FLASH from streakdroid
Then run QDL TOOL
that is all...
Maybe you are mlikely more lucky then others (including me) you still got QUALCOM DIANOSTIC MODE on.
well you need jtag then. i think you really make a good brick...
Could you advise more detail about JTAG process, what I need to buy, only JTAG cable or JTAG box? how about software? Sorry I am zero knowldge about JTAG, just heard a little bit about it.
If you dont have experience with JTAGging devices you're pretty much on your own with the streak, the JTAG points havnt even been identified yet so you'd have to find them on your own before even attempting to recover that way
Is there other way I can servive my pretty dead streak, even the process is involve teardown, cause I am not in the place cover by DELL service, and also my DELL was out of warrenty since JAN2011.
I see the JTAG announce that they can repaire STREAK dead boot, just start the software, check for update, in the update have a pinout, which I think it should show me how to connect to correct pins.
The problem is I did not find what I should buy from market for JTAGing, can I only a JTAG USB cable, or I need other stuffs. is there any way to download the JTAG software to see how it work first before we buy JTAG equipement.
another issue, I seem to see there are 2 different JTAG equipemts, RIFF-JTAG and ORT-JTAG what is all of that, could someone help me.
Riff Jtag box have all informations. Just update firmware
Recommend StreakFlash first
You are now in contact with the number 1 near bricker of the Dell Streak and I recommend you try Streakflash before you do anything:
http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=15&did=23
Once complete it will come up with blackscreen, no big deal pull the battery re-install and follow the instructions for QDL:
http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=15&did=8
That should get you back to a version that is working and ready to be updated to 1.9.0 or stock 2.2, but you will need to follow 2.2 instructions TO THE LETTER to make it work. Hope this helps.
@vanemburghj,
I could not get my DELL to reconize by PC as Qualcomm Dianostic mode(by using Vol-UP and connect the cable to PC, I have disattached baterry and put it back as instruction in streak flash forum).

Bricked i5500 after installing Rom Manager

Hey guys. So, I bricked my phone. I installed RomManager, then ClockworkMode through it, thus I knew that this phone is not supported. It wasn't there in that list, so I chose Commtiva z71 or something like that. My phone doesn't get in download mode anymore. Could this be fixed at home? I really don't want to take it to a service centre.
Please help me. Thanks!
There's a few people who have done this and I don't think any of them have been able to find a way to get it working again. I think you will have to send it to repairs, sorry

did you tried to download ClockWorkmodRecovery(cwm) than flash with odin multi downloader and then wipe data?
first step i found in solving this issue
i also flashed the same recovery through rom manager. i think i have found the first step in solving this issue. all now is that i need help of all of you guys.
All I did was removed my battery while still being connected to usb . After this i kept holding the option button (the button on the upper leftmost side) and with this being hold i inserted the battery. Now my pc recognised the device as samsung usb composite device and also the odin recognises it. but whatever i try my phone stucks at setup connection in odin. pls help.

no need to pull battery out and insert it back just insert the battery ,hold down the option key & insert usb cable thats it....but none of these gonna work you will need JTag to flash
You can even try JIG. Because, you've messed with recovery and boot partition but not the arm11boot (bml8). So, JIG (search Google, it is as cheap as $2 and you can even make one at home) can help you.
If it didn't, just search for JTAG services nearby your area. They'll charge you $20-$40 and your g5'll be alive.

That's not true, sadly. ROM Manager embeds a version of flash_image that will try to flash a boot image to bml8 if the device is not properly recognised. That's what happened for the OP, so a JIG will not resurrect the phone.
Oh...Sorry, I didn't knew that! So, final option left for OP is a JTAG flash.
@psyke83
Seems like out of your 3 bricks, this is one.

[Q] Neo V Hard bricked, no led, no boot, no vibrate and help pls

Hello everyone in the XDA community, my very first post and my first bricked phone :/
i've been trying in my spare time to unlock my neo v/ MT11i sim-carrier locked and bootloader 'no' with 11W46 but with no luck. Tried s1tool for identification on the bootloader via testpoint and successfully installed semc driver/ zeus flash driver however patching semc it failed qcReceivePacket: can't get packet data. then i found the zero% fix tool method but then thats when it died. before running the method i held the 'menu' button and inserted the usb.....
a 'sony control driver' poped up and my pc crashing and restarted. No led, no vibrate, no boot. and no detection by the pc. I've read across the forums such as charging the battery over 24 hours and putting it in flashboot mode but the phone still didn't respond-dead brick. read about trim area damaged and jtag box is the only way to rebuild the damaged bootloader but these were cases where people flashed roms, so i couldn't directly compare if this was the cause of the brick. contacted Alejandrissimo a few days ago for some advice with my bricked phone but no reply yet. bought a spare ba700 battery from ebay and tried troubleshooting with it, low battery red flash did come on when i tried to turn on but still no response with booting, vibrations and led. afterwards charging the new battery, it acted the same way as before.
The only way the pc detected the phone was reusing the semc identification method via testpoint. plug the test point cable and pointed it to the 2nd gold plate away from the battery and on the side closest to the micro sd reader and plug the usb port however in device manager the zeus flash driver had a yellow attention triangle meaning not the correct driver or something. so i reinstalled it but no change and tried removing it and only showed qhusb load. Running s1tool and flashtool i tried to get the neo recognised but with no luck i was unable. eg. holding back button for 15+ seconds.
i'm still a novice to android and really appreciate any help possible.

Thank you kks11 for fixing the whole Trim-area and guiding me how to flash new firmware. Even if it seemed hopeless to fix a dead brick, he knows his stuff and was able to fix my neo. I recommend anyone who has a Hard-Bricked device, go ask kks11 for advice and unbricking.
good service, willing to help and one awesome guy.
would have taken a few mintues but took a hour and a half since I was a novice and bad internet

Wrong flashing how ? Did you try test point method ? Does device manager show anything when connected to pc ?
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk
If your area/country of residence has Xiaomi Service Centres, I'd suggest you go there and get your phone repaired. Else, the test point method is your best bet for getting your phone working again. Here's a guide to the test point method - http://xiaomitips.com/guide/how-to-unbrick-redmi-note-3-snapdragon-best-solution/
Please note that the test point method is rather long and involves taking your device apart by yourself. Proceed at your own risk.
IF you can do it try test point. It works 100% but be careful while doing it as you dont want to break you're device. Dont worry its very hard to totally brick redmi note 3. and what you are saying can be repaired with test point. So be careful and try it.
i see a method http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/method-to-flash-twrp-recovery-unlock-t3473294/post69037237 and according this method replace stock recovery by twrp or any custom recovery i do same like this and get permanently brick,
ya a red light is apeear when connect to pc or charger, i know test point method is work but it's difficult, can this device repairabale through software box,
Relax and then go to service centre. They will solve your problem. Is your device in warranty period? If not you may have to pay for this.
SOLVED!!! 2 very hard brick xiaomi redmi note 3 pro
Dont go to the service centre, it wasting time and lot of MONEY, i swear!!! i'v solved the problem. The problem is after u flash normally (edl mode, with miflash 64bit, suitable ROM, deep flash cable or test point, readable port *qdloader9008), then u hv to fit out battery from the socket and fit in it back, then charge your phone, if the battery charging window appears, TAADAAAA, u'v done!!!!
