This is from about a 4 foot fall. TouchPad meets linoleum, linoleum wins. I'm wishing this was made with Gorilla Glass like my Asus Transformer.
32Gb down the proverbial drain.

like a poster mentioned, it IS (Or is it??) I"m goinGorilla Glass! But Gorilla Glass != impact resistant. It's made to resist scratches... this is a bit more than a scratch I guess. My wife said that not even Safelite can repair it.
It landed flat on it's face. Well, pretty flat. You can see where it impacted first. Frankly, I'm surprised it shattered like it did, it only fell from chest-height. oh well.

I dunno if it's Gorrilla Glass or not. I'm thinking it really isn't. But that doesn't matter, it's all broke 'n shiz.
I have contacted they CyanogenMod team and I'll be shipping it out this evening. Let's hope this helps us get Android working on the TouchPad soon!!

I feel truly sorry for you.
I'd guess repair is much to expensive ;( If so and it is for you just garbage please consider donating the broken device to devs such as CyanogenMod. They can use these anyway.

That's exactly what I'm doing. I hope that it's demise will somehow help with the Android port and in return, help everybody else get Android on their 'pads sooner.
I'm going to go back to my corner and sob some more.

You're first on the list if the CyanogenMod team has sufficient hardware for their needs.

The touchpad does have a Gorilla glass screen, that ^ is a fairly common thing to happen to them. I've a Dell Streak and the number of people who've broken the screen through dropping or sitting on or even just a small knock would surprise you. Gorilla glass is meant to be more scratch resistant, it's not more shatter resistant.

That's nasty. The more I see of this tab, the more I am convinced that it isn't worth a dime over the $99 HP sold it off at.
Sad that it had to happen. This should serve as a remider to everyone else to "really hold on" just like the OP said.

its for ipad2, but they are the exact same screen.... only difference is the button shape...Im sure you can cut it, or maybe just change but id rather a weird lookin button that no TrollPad (yea i call it that due to its elusive nature).

That's what happens when you take an object that has an extremely large pane of glass made to resist scratches (this makes it less resistant to actually breaking) and building into a device like a tablet or modern smartphone where the device is little more than that pane of glass. The obsession with making them thinner makes them less sturdy and they break when they get a shock to a corner or side.
