I use cdma workshop to read my phones ESN then I click write using same esn. but it reset it to all zeros. the weird thing is that I can change the ESN to any ESN but none that start with 8, the original ESN started with 8 so it fails when i try that. please help.
CDMA Workshop is able to write any ESN that does not start with 0x80000000
and the esn on the sticker starts with 8, I am very screwed. doesn't anyone know what I can do?
Not CDMA Workshop, but your device firmware does not allow to change pESN (pESN started with 0x80.....).
You need to change MEID, then pESN will be re-calculated automatically.

Flashing to DCD 3.2 on a Verizon phone and my ESN is reset to all zeros. The ROM upgrade itself seemed to work. The phone boots fine. I tried to follow the directions in the troubleshooting section about ESN being reset to all zeros but I cant get my phone into the programming/diagnostic mode for CDMA workshop. Any suggestions?

Look for EPST.exe or EPSTLab.exe in \Windows if you want to use PST mode
For diagnostic mode, the Program is called DMRouter
Dial ##3424 then send.

Thanks that worked. The directions have ##3424#. I never thought to try it without the ending # sign.
I can connect to my phone with CDMA workshop but I encounter an error.
When it reads from the phone it pulls all the info except for the ESN and the Number fields . It says ':: Failed ::" in the phone information box on the left for both of those fields. It wont let me read or write to the ESN in the security tab.
to properly break your esn for a optimus v for boost moble
follow directions found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991668
skip the prl part you dont care you wanna frag your phone to never work again to make phone calls
<i chose method 2 for getting SPC>
goto security tab
in a drop down menu obvious choice would be to choose LG method
choose read ESN change the esn and press write
this shoulD produce a message saying you suck this failed but you a hacker try the other methods
so try the other methods when you get to the EFS method this should say sucseed --you think yeah im awsome now go back to the lg method and choose read ESN and it should now read 000000
you have now successfully ruined your phone congrats
by the way you can have this esn i dont need it
Any tips and suggestion are welcome

wow so i take it you didnt read the title or the message atleast now we know it dosnt work for the optimus s either thank you
omg i used dfs a cmda tool that requires a login and it fixed it
last time it didnt work but now it dose omg
edit-------------------
premature post sorry it can change to 000001 or 000002 or others thats all others fail
WS 3.7 will fix it, and I think 3.5, I've repaired quite a few!
i used a version of cmda workshop but it didnt allow the original to go back in-but it allowed other sen ranges -i will check my version and try again with a newer version if mine was old..if it is built into the software to block ranges i will definitly try to crack it so it will allow any ..but i sorta lost intrest because i solved my esn problem and can now register with google email now that it has a valid esn other than 00000000
You can fix your ESN using the NV items write feature.
NV items 0 and 5597 are both your ESN but written backwards in pairs.
NV items 1943 and 5598 are both your MEID but written backwards in pairs.
By backwards in pairs I mean if your real ESN is 12345678, then NV item 0 and 5597 is:
78 56 34 12
If your MEID is A10000009296F2, then NV item 1943 is:
F2 96 92 00 00 00 A1
Read NV items 0 to 5598 from your phone. The items listed above should all be 0's if you accidentally wiped them out. Fix the values in the way I described above so that they match up with your original ESN and MEID. Then write the entire NV file back to your phone. This should repair your ESN to its original value.
IM trying to flash to cricket. already rooted and has the Eclipse Rom.
i got to change the SPC in CDMA WS 2.7 and i confirmed that. i know to flash it you cant read from QPST so i didnt and just filled oout the write spots. In QPST when i click write it just tells me ERROR SPC_CHANGE_ENABLE_I. Or the error PPP Password something.
i tried writing the NV files with CDMA WS but no matter what i do with cdma workshop it now says "PHONE ASK FOR SPC. SPC(6 digits) required.
ANy help would be appreciated...thanks
000000 is spc code. type that in spc field of cdma workshop before write to nv
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
yea i already know that. i found out what i was doing. using CDMA WS i was going to the SPC spot and writing it then trying to do the stuff. figured out i needed to just SEND the unlock to the phone in order to write items to the phone.
Phone is flashed over now.
I'm in need of an alternative to CDMA workshop. I need to be able to re-write the IMEI and all of that info to my phone. Any ideas? No this is not for cloning, this is to fix mine.
Good afternoon XDA, today while trying to flash a buddies phone to US Cellular or rather swapping esn and meid (I know, legal grey area) I lost the esn on the phone and now it is all zeros. I was using CDMA Workshop when it happened. Now I'm just trying to get the esn back to original but I cannot find a way to get it to change. I've tried DFS, CDMA Workshop and QPST but nothing will change it. Actually I can't get QPST to recognize the diag port. Any help would be appreciated. Is there a backup of the EFS like on some other phones that I could restore? Feel free to PM me. Thank You.
Just to add some details. Everything on the phone still works so I do not believe it is a corrupt efs just somehow cdma workshop got something wrong. I wonder if I should have rooted the phone before trying, I do remember seeing a message in DFS saying something like NV item not written, read only.

Flash the phone with LGUP and it should be back to normal.
