I know on some android phones you can go under the ##data# menu and alter settings to give you faster 3g speeds. Sure wifi and 3g are different beasts but maybe there is a way to speed up wifi. Btw I'm looking to speed up a galaxy 10.1 tab.

Do any of the 3G Speed increase hacks (I read one that you have to add something to build.prop work for hte X2? My 3G speed honestly stinks, and i have full signal! It even stinks when im at work, which has Verizon Towers on the Building! At home i get about .33 Meg Down, .16 Meg up? Most i have seen is about 1.5 Down 2x since i had the phone.
I did this on my Nexus One and Nexus S, both on Tmobile, and It does work like a charm but I do beleive it is only for GSM devices......god i hate Verizon
I'm curious about this as well, but it seems like most of the people running 3G speed tweaks are on T-Mobile or other networks?
Also, I ran across a tutorial for pointing your 3G connection to OpenDNS servers. Has anybody here done this?
Finally setup a wireless N network in the house and the phone fails to see it. Currently on the 4th build of the ICS rom running EH03 as my modem. Was previously on CM7 with Glitch V13 and EH03 again for the modem. I was on CM7 briefly after having set up the wireless network. Wasn't seeing N at that time either. My Galaxy Tab 10.1 sees the network without issue. Is the Fascinate similar to say a ipod touch in the sense it will see N but only on certain frequencies? Does anybody know what those frequencies are by chance? I think currently i have the router maxed at 5ghz.
Try 2.4 ghz.
Yes, our phones only have 2.4ghz network capabilities. If your router is dual band just make sure to turn on the 2.4 section too, or else only devices with network cards that also have dualband capabilities will see it.

When using the Note as a hotspot... Are you getting 4G LTE or WiFi speeds?
Getting a new IPad and was wondering what would be better... Using the Note as a hotspot or getting a dedicated 4G iPad?
Can't reapply tell you exact speeds, but when I tethered I got enough speed to stream videos and browse the Web. Definitely not worth the extra money for an iPad with 4g plus the extra days plan. That's silk I can tell you.
Sent from the best phone in the world Galaxy Note!!!
Not sure what you mean by "Wifi" speeds (as the theoretical maximum speed of 802.11n is way faster than current LTE speeds), but the Note will transmit at whatever speed it is connected at. If you do a speed test on the Note, and get, for example, 25Mbps/10Mbps, you will get similar speed test results on your laptop, or whatever else you tether to your phone.

I'm doing the same thing. Got a Note and a 16gb wifi "new iPad, lol". However my area does not have LTE until around June. I seem to be getting similar results. Like if I'm in a area and getting 9mbps on my phone via HSPA+ I get basically the same via if I use the note as a hot spot using speed test to check on my iPad, get all that lol?. As long as your phone is close to your iPad.
Only upside I see of having a 4g iPad is not using juice from your note. But again the 129 extra for a 4g iPad is convience. But me personally paying two data plans as it is, me and my GF I'd never pay another lol.
Depends how often you plan to use the iPad via 4g. If only here and there deff get the wifi only.
I don't think there is any speed or data drop off using it as a hotspot if that's what your asking.
I've got an ActionTec dsl modem/router I've noticed with this phone my speeds are about 1/3 of the wired connection speeds. My Photon, Optimus and 4 different tablets are fine and get full speed.
I've tried all 11 channels in the wireless settings of the router but can't seem to get any faster than about 400k.
I've set the phone to 2.5ghz only, and it's fine on other networks.
Anyone have any ideas?

Bumping to put what I feel the problem is:
I unchecked "Best Wifi Performance" under advanced wifi settings and my issue seems to have gone away.
I am not sure what that particular setting changes, but obviously my router does not like it at all.
After unchecking that and rebooting the phone, I am now getting full wifi speeds.
tethering onto my all in one gateway is as fast as having high speed internet, which i wont' have until sept.
sprint 3g here.
Why is it that is loads so much faster on the pc than the phone itself?
Only thing I can think is the page is actually just rendering faster.
