Battery DRAIN On Any 2.3.4 ROM? - HTC EVO 3D

I've Tried Almost Everything I could think of on the few 2.3.4 Roms I flashed, But no matter what My Battery Drains Fast as Hell...
Anyone have Any Suggestions?

I Don't know the reason either but it Sux!

I been running synergy nightly with sense, no battery drain issues here.

adjust all your settings first, if you haven't already, such as background data, GPS, location, all that stuff. run it very conservative and see if there is a change.
if you are running all the widgets that update automatically, weather, friend stream, etc etc etc... or even task killers, set CPU, crap that uses up CPU cycles... well you should have this figured out already..

1,100+ posts and you don't know what settings he means? lol ok I'll bite. Make sure
you don't have 'always on mobile data" checked for starters. Don't have GPS, WIFI, 4G,
etc on, unless you are using them at that moment. Also make sure that you don't have
things syncing whenever they damn well please. If all else fails, download a program
from the market to see if there are any rouge apps running when they shouldn't be.

If i dont have always mobile data ON or Wifi, if I stop using the widgets who need sync, if i stop use a lot of things, if i dont use the live wallpapers as background why not to buy a Nokia phone then?.
I think that the major problem of all the android phones is the battery life. It sucks.

Adjust settings as the post above. Download senseless ROM from scroler and battery issue issue will be a thing of the past. Of course you will have to follow the suggestions to implement it. My biggest improvement in battery life was when I turned off background notifications in accounts sync in settings. For 2.3.3 roms...vipers ROM is the best.

I use them all, and MORE! 4000mah Seido is a must in my book. I get three days

As for why have a smart phone and not use the features?
There is no reason. But there is also no reason to expect good battery life, either. If
you haven't noticed, battery technology hasn't improved to the extent that we all would
love to see. It sucks, but its true. Once they improve, so will battery life.

BEST WAY TO SAVE YOUR ANDROID BATTERY! legit!

okay so what you wanna do is go to settings, then go to accounts & sync then uncheck background data! It wont affect anything but the market so when you wanna download stuff you just have to turn it back on then off. This will increase your battery 100 percent no lie! It made my phone amazing.
Also good if you do not want to receive any emails or notifications of any sort...
Sent from my Eris using XDA App
I just have a 3G switch in my notification bar so I can turn it off/on quickly when I want, and doing so saves my battery countless hours of life. I turned my phone on 7 hours ago and I've only had 3G turned on once for some quick browsing and resyncing my contacts with Facebook, and I'm still at 90% battery (and I've done a fair amount of messaging today and made two phone calls)
How do you put that in your Notification bar? I'd really like to be able to do this that easily.

There is an app in the market called widgetsoid that can do it. Or you can flash a CM rom. They all can do it natively. There's other ways but these are just a couple that can get you started.

Well, I often change my Google cal on the web on a desktop PC (or in iCal on my Mac) - much easier - and I wouldn't get gmail with background data turned off. So, it does affect more than the market, actually.

Using MacROM and smartass governer, turning off BT/WiFi and GPS, I was able to get 2.5 days of battery out of mine on a recent weekend camping trip. Unless I'm on the phone or REALLY texting a lot, I can make it from 7am to midnight and still be on >25%. The ROM can make a HUGE difference!
Kind of the same as turning the phone off... the battery will last a week with it off.
Isn't that amazing? It could probably even last twice as long with it turned off. Good luck getting any notifications, though. Of course, there are some days that it would be nice to have it turned off.

[Q] Is it safe to exit apps/clear RAM every night?

Hey guys, just wondering if it is okay to exit all apps and clear RAM in the task manager every night. I do this right before I go to bed. Makes me feel like I'm "Exiting all Windows/Programs" on a PC, so it doesn't drain the battery while I sleep. Can this cause problems with any programs?
Thanks.
No problem .

Exiting all apps is fine and a must imo, but 'Clear RAM' is NOT. It will stop certain apps and processes, widgets etc. Only do that if you manually want to do it and know what you are doing.

Correct. I was just not sure if doing this on a habitual and daily basis was a good idea. My concern was that if by clearing RAM, it would affect programs/widgets stability... but then again, I would not want to use any data from that point on. What happens then? Would I just have to re-open the programs/widgets to "activate" them back into memory?

Well he could do that if he wants, but if he runs any scheduler/alarm app it won't work anymore. I also did it and then my Power Schedule app stopped working. So that option is safe if someone is sure that absolutely nothing is needed from the device.
PS- Still if you like to do it then keep your scheduler app under SuperUser list or mark it as 'Do Not Kill' in a File Manager app like Gemini, only this will keep your app to not get closed by Clearing RAM.
Regards.

Only trial and error will answer the question. I have LBE Privacy running on mine, and clearing the RAM does not shut that app down, or the stock alarm app.
It depends on the app/widget as to what happens.

This is true. I clear my RAM once a day, mainly just before bed, and it doesn't shut down the most important App which I depend on running all the time - Sound Manager, which manages my notifications sounds and volume during the night and day. I personally think it is safe, since for me it shuts down everything that is non-essential.

Stock task killer too aggressive

My built in task killer is being super aggressive recently. When I first had the phone, pressing the "Clear RAM" closed around 5-10 applications and left me with ~350-400MB of used RAM. I installed system tuner pro (which is now uninstalled), but ever since I had installed it, my task killer is now closing 20+ applications, and my used RAM is getting down to 200-250MB. I can never get it down to "0 applications closed" anymore and the lowest I got was "3 applications closed" over and over again.
Normally, I wouldn't really care so much, but what I'm getting annoyed with is that doing that seems to disable NoLED and I suspect it's messing with SetCPU. SetCPU shows 702/192 on the widget, which is what I had it set to, but if I open SetCPU, I see 1836/192 at the top, but the scrollers are still 702/192. Anyone know what the heck is going on?

And yet still remain necessary for malfunctioning apps or those that stay running even when you back out of them and consume way too many resources, harming your battery life. C:Geo is my example. It doesn't always shut down properly and likes to drain my battery when I'm not using it unless I force quit it.
Another good example: Voxer likes to get "stuck" almost constantly. Only way to fix it is by force quitting and starting it up again.
While I agree that users shutting down apps constantly with a task manager to clear RAM does more harm than good, they still have their purpose and are a handy thing to have on any phone OS.

So the answer to OP is then to stop hitting the "Clear Ram" button.
Honestly, What is the point of a phone having this much ram, if you aren't going to let apps use it?
When you hit the home button, what android does is save the current state of that app and lays it to rest in the ram. When you go back to that app, it will pull it from the ram and bring it back from that state.
The app is not running in the background unless it's intended too.
So johnus is right. If an app gets stuck, or it is using your cpu and there is no real way to close it, that's what an app killer is really meant for.
Case closed now?

With that kind of logic, lets just tell every to just stop using their phones because bugs are always going to exist everywhere, but there's no reason to fix it, because no one will ever use an app that's not perfect...right?

I'm not familiar with MIUI but it's possible to create profiles with Tasker. It's capable of pretty much anything (activate data when a specific app opens, for example). Think I remember seeing someone do some stuff with MMS too. It can definitely be done.
Your phone IS only pulling data when needed. You and your phone just disagree on what constitutes a "need".
Are you on ICS or GB? Figure out what app is pulling the data. ICS data usage will show you, and let you disable the usage by app. GB will let you turn off background data in a blanket setting. On GB you can get an app like My Data Manager to see what app is using the data.
Juice Defender has settings too to disable data when your screen is off and such. But it's commonly believed to actually decrease battery life, especially the task killing aspect of it.
Sent from my Galaxy S II
Im on GB, ICS pissed me off to no end at the moment. Guess ill look into tasker.
Android devices are the only ones I've noticed to be unable to just idle properly on their own, but right now im in magical land of Japan where using Nokia is too problematic.
Hmm, good enough unless tasker will eat more battery than active data connection

[Q] Do more widgets cause higher battery drain?

I'm trying to work on and figure out why my battery life on any version of Rage rom is so terrible compared to everyone else. Clearly it's not the rom, so it must be stuff i'm running.
The biggest culprits I always see on my gsam reports is apex launcher and Android System. But I can't understand what apex launcher is doing that its responsible for 30% of my application's battery usage
I've posted a few times in the Rage thread, but haven't had any responses there, so decided I'll check here
