[Q] 2nd mic? - HTC EVO 3D

What is the second mic for near the headphone jack? Is it noise cancelling? I've never really noticed it until a few days ago.

The speaker's at the back and the phone had a feature wherein you flip the phone over and it automatically activates the speakerphone. So I guess that's what that's for.

When the set the Amaze on a flat surface while playing any music, does the loudspeaker get heavily muffled?

no, curved design doesn't allow blocakge of speaker on hard surface, although listening to music I always like to flip it, since you get direct sound to your ears. If you leave it on a pillow it will muffle sound. pretty much true with all phones with speaker on the back.

Low speaker

Is anyone feeling the speaker is low

Yes, it's low - it's at the bottom of the device.

Any way to make it louder

Why didn't you say it wasn't loud enough, or the volume was low
You can try a louder sound clip, but don't boost it too much, else it will distort, and distortion is bad.

Turn it upside down, sorry, couldn't resist. That's one thing I really liked about my OG. With the extended battery, laying it on it's back on speaker phone the sound would bounce off the surface and expand the sound dispersion.

I think its much louder than the.3D.
Sent from my EVO LTE!!
Does anyone know how the speaker compares to e4gt? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
It is much louder than the EVO 3D. I was very disappointed with the EVO 3D volume, but this phone, IMO, has great volume out of the box.

I too agree that the speaker volume is low!
coming from the Evo 3D this speaker is louder than a Mother F*****
I have both phones playing the same tune, side by side in sync at max volume with both speakers facing me. They are pretty darn close.
Possible slight edge to EVO LTE and just a bit more edge for LTE listening from the front (speaker facing away). Sounds comes around the bottom center better on the LTE than the dead center of the 3D.
acoustics.... get you some!
put the phone in a deep container, vase, gallon pitcher, any cylindrical object with a wider mouth than bottom.
you can aim it in any direction you desire, it will be 2x-5x louder.
i listen to music from my phone while i shower, simply putting the phone in the bottom of the sink is plenty
A guy a phone and a cup. thats how i roll

Yeah it's great to have a phone again that I can hear when ringing! I can't tell you how many phone calls, sms or gtalk messages I missed because of the low volume on the EVO 3D.

Does the Amaze have 2 microphones or not

I see in some places that the Amaze is suppose to have two microphones, but in the manual it only shows one. I have looked and I can only see one, but my eyes are bad..LOL, so I thought I would ask for clarification. Thanks in advance for the info.
I only know of 1... But I could be wrong

It has two, second is for noise cancellation and stereo recording on the camera.

How come they don't show it's location in the manual?

The three holes on the back around the camera aren't a "Mic".. they cancel out ambient sound. I do believe that the manual mentions noise canceling, but it would not refer to it as a mic, which would be an input.

Yes it has 2 as said before it's for noise cancellation & stereo recording for the camcorder. Just google the phones specs its common knowledge.

So, does the sound-recorder use stereo mics or just a single one. I am getting poor recording using the HTC Sound Recorder app...
Thanks in advance for your comments.

[Q] (How To?) Need to get audio from PC to my voicemail.

has anyone done this? i tried the stereo audio cable, male on both ends, to the mic port...nothing.
tried a three ring (left, right, mic) cable, male on both ends, from mic jack on phone to pc output and still nothing.
i did read about another guy trying to get audio from a separate mic during video but didnt get a solution.
anyone? can it be rigged to work?
je:good:
Play it through your speakers while using the phones mic ?
You did say from pc to evo right? Then why would you use the mic jack on the pc? Try the headphone output.
What are you trying to accomplish if I may ask?

Ok, fyi for the record.
The HTC Mic port is NOT standard. I used a standard plug with left, right and Mic to record a professional voicemail to my voicemail greeting. I actually had to dial into my voicemail from a Samsung phone and record the voicemail greeting. The port on the Samsung must be standard as it was the only phone it worked on. Tried iPhone 4, HTC evl lte, and my wife's Samsung old school little slider phone. Voicemail came out great...too bad I couldn't use my own phone.

[Q] Skype low quality audio, crackle

I've had this problem for the 8 months I've owned this phone. I'm actually surprised that my monthly Google searches have found few mentions of the problem.
I am not the ONLY one,
Low Audio Quality and Constant Noise in Android app for HTC One X / HTC EVO 4G LTE
http://community.skype.com/t5/Andro...-Noise-in-Android-app-for-HTC-One/td-p/833460
I've been checking back on that thread on the Skype forums, but never any answers. I just signed up to bump it tonight.
I just upgraded to Skype 3.1.0.6458 today, but apparently this has still never been solved.
Overall, the app seems much snappier, which is fantastic. However, the poor audio problems persist.
Skype just got an update might wanna check

Might be because of the 2ed Mic it might not know how to handle it properly and its canceling noises and picking some up
