I have been having some odd issues with my sms. I originally used the stock sms application and swype beta 3.0. When I unlock the screen with the sms app open, the message options open up (like when you tap on a message) and i have to lock it, unlock it, and hit home instantly to get out. then it is frozen on the home screen for a few minutes. it sometimes freezes on the home screen on its own when I use the sms app also. I switched to using Go sms pro and it worked fine for a few days. Now the same error is occuring and the message options (that only should open with the stock sms) are randomly opening in go sms pro and the keyboard will start having random letters pressed without me touching the screen. any ideas for how to fix this?
Thank you for your help in advance

Sorry but I'm a complete noob with this stuff. What does that mean?
Edit: if your saying to restart my phone, I have done that several times and it runs normal for 5-10 minutes before starting up again

Delete Go SMS, power off your phone, power it on again then try to reinstall it. Worst case scenario you may have to format your phone back to stock. I've had issues like this in the past and following those steps would usually get me working before having to format back to stock.
Do you have too many text messages saved? Try deleting some.
I apologize ahead of time if this is an easy problem, but I haven't been an Android user for a very long time.
Everytime a new text message comes in, there will be a notification stating so. After I read the message and even after replying to them, the notification is still there and won't go away until I hit clear.
Is this intended for the notification to continue to notify you even after you've read the text? I actually have "Received notification - Show notification in status bar when messages are received" turned off.
Thanks in advance.
Are you using stock sms or something else?
troy
am having the same problem and I and using the stock sms. When you open it from the status bar and then you go to sms it still shows as new until you open it up again.

same here, i have to stay and leave the message open a second longer or reopen it. I guess we're too fast or something :X
When you open msg's from notifications panel, widget, app.drawer or switch to them via holding home hit the menu and go to all msgs then hit the menu key once more and chose mark as read.

This has been a common HTC issue since my Touch Pro 1 days...too bad we don't have root to fix it.
My icon on the top won't go away even when I click clear. as soon as I shut the screen off and back on it pops back up until I go into the messaging app and then the conversation

Damn really? The original EVO didnt have the issue

Don't see how its a common issue when mine operates as it should

Same here. My Evo4g didn't do that, stock or rooted. I deduced that its a bug, and am hoping it will eventually get fixed up.

If you read through the thread you would see that multiple people said they didn't have the issue. I don't know exactly what causes it but it isn't happening on all phones.
I got it here too. Didnt have the issue on my OG EVO
Ive heard numerous times that it takes 1 or 2 seconds for the S3 to turn on after u press the home button, someone told me that it happens on all Sammy devices so i tried it on my SGS1 and there was no such delay, so im guessing its not down to the way Sammy makes their devices.
I also heard from the early reviews that S-Voice can be turned on directly from the lockscreen, maybe this is the cause for the delay. try turning S-voice off (not that your going to use it after the first week anyway ) and see if the problems persists, i also heard this from someone else and said that it does remove the delay.
Get back to me if it has helped.
I have a delay of around 1 second, and I have... like... everything turned off. S Voice is nothing I'm interested in so I have it all turned off and frozen in Titanium Backup. Same goes for unlock "toilet" sounds and ripple effects and whatnot, I'm not using any of it and I still have the lag.
Even GS1 has 1,5 sec delay
The "delay" is because the phone is waiting for a second press to see if you wish to load "s-voice".

I don't think it will, but it might depends how well samsung have linked the software
Kernel hacks can fix this, we did it on the s2.
I have noticed this as well with s voice turned off. My galaxy s was pretty quick but it had a custom rom built for speed and responsiveness.
Anyone noticing that after slide unlock that the home screen takes a while to come up? Takes a nice sec or 2 while all the app icons and the weather widget to come up.
I think sometimes the launcher has to reload after unlocking the screen, causing the delay

Kernel hacks didn't do anything on the S2 concerning the issue and specific cause. The issue apparently is modem related as it takes a long time to sleep and wake up, and the S3 has the same type of modem as the S2.
even the S2 had the s-voice like feature which would be activated in the very same way.
opening the s-voice app, going into settings and unchecking the "start s-voice (by double-tapp)" or something will solve your problem
You can set the home button to start up S Voice when double-pressed, but that means the system has to wait and make sure what you want it to do if you only press it once -- resulting in a pause. We've seen the same behavior any time an OEM decides to add functionality to a button with a double-tap, but this time its easy to fix. Just disable it in the S Voice settings and you're home free.

That doesn't sound right. The launcher just randomly takes its time to load, regardless of whether it's waking up or not.
Example; I was playing Reckless Getaway when I got an email notification. I quit out of that and got back to the launcher (Apex) instantly. Loaded up GMail and read my email. Once I quit out of that though, there was a 1-2 second delay before Apex loaded again.
I'd expect that after playing the game, not reading an email..

Agreed. The app you jump out from seems to be random. Even sometimes the same app launcher time is pretty random eg exiting Firefox sometimes launcher reloads but sometimes doesn't. Seems like the OS is killing launcher when something else needs the memory and then reloading it as you quit other apps.

If you use apex launcher and tick "keep in memory", you don't get this loading issue.
Also, it's not s- voice. I just disabled it in applications, so it's almost as if it's not even installed now, and there is still the 1 second delay. The big question is howeve... Why the hell does this even matter to any of you? After a week of owning this phone I never thought to myself "ohh this lag takes 2 centuries and is really annoying", no. It's about a second, sometimes it ot even that. Stop complaining, everyone has this "issue". It's not that important.

It's not only a second, IT'S HORRIBLE!!! Someone have to find a solution for that or I'm going crazy everytime I push the power-button
Edit: I thought I found a solution by turning off all effects and clock settings for the lock screen, but it worked one time and after that I still have the "one-second-lag" after pressing the power-button to get on the lockscreen. %&/*ยง

Between two versions of Jellybomb and two versions of MiniN3 MaximuS, my screen will not timeout while connected to any charger. The screen will dim at the set timeout interval but will not turn off automatically. However, when I am not connected to a charger, the screen timeout works just fine. Did I miss something? Is this supposed to happen?

I'm wondering if it might be "daydream" related? I had a similar issue with a Docking setting in an earlier phone...
(edit: after further research, that doesn't seem likely...)
I guess my thinking here is that if it's followed you through updates and roms, it would either have to be something physically wrong (I don't think so), or a setting that Google has backed up for you and reloading when you log in.
I also have a couple apps that do that to me when they are running in the background. (Onkyo remote, as an example)
Sorry, No real help here.

To me it sounds like a setting in developer options. it keeps the phone awake and the screen on when charging. Uncheck stay awake. If it is not check then it is something else. In settings it is under the general tab. If you do not see developer options then go to about device and tap on the build number 7 times to get it to show up.

Hello, ever since I installed Android Pie on my V30 I've been having quite big delays when doing trivial things system-related.
For example it happens a lot that after I let my phone sit for a while it sometimes takes up to 3 seconds to load the recent apps view after I press the button...
I also get weird delays when using the settings app, every thing I click has such a delay that the click animation has time to finish.
Now this may seem normal, but it definitely isn't, I didn't have it on Oreo, I don't have it on my Zenfone 3, and it saddens me that my old phone can be snappier than my new phone, makes it feel very wrong.
I will post a video so you can see what I mean, hopefully someone knows how to fix this, because it makes me want a custom ROM really badly, but I don't want to lose my 2 years of warranty when I know this phone can have issues with things like burn-in.
Video
It seems very mild in the video, but it's sometimes embarrassing using the phone with friends when it lags out a LOT...
Have you done anything at all with it? Wiped cache? Factory reset?

I haven't done a factory reset, I could do it, but I would have to be sure it's an issue with my android and not everyone's.
I have quite a bit of data on my phone, so factory resetting to find out if it's my issue is not my thing...
About cache... what cache?
Well, as mentioned above you can factory reset, or you can also take a backup with lg bridge, just a back up, it has already been reported that it fixes the lag you're experiencing, and lastly you can reset apps preference in settings, which also fixes the lag
Try holding power and volume down until it restarts
Cache clear: use Files by Google.

I had exactly the same issues when I updated to Pie without wiping data a few weeks ago. Did a factory reset and reflashed Pie again, which mostly solved my issues. On occasion there is a choppy animation here or there, but I think that's just because LG hasn't perfected Pie on the V30... Setting animation speed to 0.5 in dev options makes it less noticable.
(I'm rooted though so factory resets are not a big hassle for me)
And what's weird, since Pie my phone is smoother when running 1440p instead of 1080p. What?
So I factory reset my phone like you guys said, and it did fix some things, like the notifications not stacking properly and the Pie navigation gestures work better now, but my issue is still there, the delays are still there...

This is odd, that should not be happing. Can you list the steps on how you upgrade to Pie?
Also no need for a custom ROM. This device is fast. Are you rooted and flashed a zip? Pure stock?

yeah, it's like it unloads the recent tasks view and every time I call it, it has to load back up... I can't even double-tap the recent apps button to switch app properly because of the delays.
LG's software is so bad man, it makes such good hardware feel horrible...
I read somewhere that manually closing all open apps (not with the clear all button, but manually swiping) can help too.
Have you played around with the battery/power settings at all?

Yes there's a big delay when opening recents, but only if the 3 button nav bar layout is active. If the "gesture" nav bar is active, there's no issue.

I know your first post you made it clear about root and warranty. You don't have to worry about any of that since you can unroot and relock the bootloader.
Have you tried a factory reset? Sorry if you mention that already and I missed it. I've also seen people say to do a LG Bridge backup. Somehow it resets a few settings and the device returns to normal.

It's very odd how I see some users have issues while others don't. As an example, I did a clean flash to pie and I had to do it multiple times because it wouldn't flash correctly. Others flashed ok on the first try. Some people dirty flashed and the device ran good while some has issues.
