I noticed in CM7 and more recently HACK3DAO5P ROMS, when I install PowerAmp and plug in my headset, two things happen:
1. The device only recognizes that it's headphones, not a headset with a mic for making calls
2. I can't skip tracks and control the music app with the inline button on the mic. The settings in PowerAmp are set for using the headset control, and it's set to prioritize headset control usage. No other music app will respond, either.
Is there something I'm missing?
Apologies ahead of time if mentioned elsewhere, I searched for almost an hour with many combinations in my search terms.

bluetooth stereo headset, correct? i have a motorola one like that and I havent tried making calls on it lately (it did work at least a few versions ago of cm7), but it works okay for music. I haven't tried the buttons on it yet, since I normally just use the volume buttons to switch tracks, but I'll see if they work. I would try searching the thread for CM7 here and rootzwiki for bluetooth as well.
Thanks for the reply. I'm using a regular plug-in headset, SkullCandy 50/50s at the moment. I have many different pairs I use, and when plugged in they don't register as having a mic. Sucks because I tend to listen to music and use the headset while I'm out an about. Also, these ROMs have the best battery life, so I tend to use them more often.
I checked the CM7 threads, I'll try again and rootzwiki also..

Hi All
I have been told by o2 that the following is a feature:
When my XDA has an incoming call, with the headset plugged in, the 'ringing' only sounds from the headset instead of the speaker.
Is this a feature or a fault?
Comments gratefully received
I'd say bit of both.
I've had my headset plugged in and heard the ringtone through both the headset AND the unit itself, but perhaps there's a way of making it so that the headset is the only audio (perhaps plugging the jack in whilst on silent then turning it back up?).
I've definitely had the headset ring out whilst the jack is connected.
A
Feature or fault, that's a hard one to call!
I would say it working as designed, since the headset will always override the speaker in any fashion.
I've never heard of this. All the US units ring in BOTH if the headset is plugged in. Unfortunately, message notification and alarms sound only in the headset though.
Hi,
As far as I have found out the behavior is not consistent. My device sometimes only ring in the headset and sometimes ring both. I have found out if you plug in the headset and connect via USB cable to the PC it will always ring both in headset and speaker. This is true even after you have unplugged the USB. Seems to me some flag I set during USB connation that enables this... ?!
For notifications - this only works via the headset... for me at least.
I find this annoying - the SmartPhone works as it should in regards to this.
I run 4.00.05 baked at this site... keep up the good work !
I had this similiar feature/bug experience too.
My XDA rings both on the headset and its speaker. One day, at some point, I managed to put it into a strange state. I started playing an mp3 with the windows media player (WMP) without the handset, it played thru its speaker (that's correct). And then I plug in the headset, mp3 came out from only the headset (that's correct too).
After that, I pressed "stop" the mp3 in the WMP, and then "play" again, mp3 came out thru both the headset and its speaker.
I don't seem to be able to reproduce this "feature" anymore now. Well, of course, that's after a reboot a while later.
In fact, now I've got a question then. Does that mean the on/off of the speaker can be controlled in software? AFAIK, like the iPAQ, it's controlled in the hardware, that means if you plug in a headphone, the speaker of the unit will be off.
Does that mean the on/off of the speaker can be controlled in software?

Yes, evidenced by the phone behaviour. Most devices use a simple contact in the headset connector to disengage the speaker, but obviously not the PE.

I would rather ask it to be a user defined option. I believe the current setup (both ringing) came after noticing that you can simply forget your headset plugged in so you may miss some calls.
But in some situations (ex: meetings) I would like to keep the headset plugged in and get the rining only through it.
I have experienced a weak sound during listening music thru audio manager. I wonder if there is any way like modifying Audiopara3.csv in Touch Diamond. Please help.
Can't say the same really. I've been using the HTC bluetooth headset with no volume issues. Haven't yet tried the supplied wired headset.
Same question here... The sound on my Rose is extremely weak as well, e.g. it is impossible to listen to podcasts in a train. Is there no way to change this ??
Just a thought, though I'm sure that this is obvious enough so that you guys probably already tried it: turn up the system volume with the two buttons on the left side of the device.
.-ombre-.
i have the same problem over here, i have been told that this could have to do with european regulations. Something with the amount of decibels allowed.
There is a audio boost option in the menu but with a bluetooth headset this option does not work.
If there is a solution to this problem i would be happy to learn about it
Does it sound any better using media player? I think media player has a better sound but audio manager has an equaliser. Try using that to boost the sound.
AVE...
Use Pocket Player.
While using select: Menu>More>Options>Advanced and check "Use and set device volume". Then press on the side of Rose Volume Down button once and Volume Up button to max volume. This will double max volume.
BTW, for podcasts and audiobooks Pocket Player is the best, because it can autoresume last played file to exact point. I use it all the time because all my audiobooks are chopped into 30 minutes long MP3's. Neither AudioManager nor WMP can do it.
My solution was to change the profile to Outdoors and then edit the volume in this profile to loud. It works a lot better.
However I have Pocket Player installed and Urgon's solution works like a charm. Thanks man !
I finally bit the bullet and moved into world of CM7/MIUI, currently running CM7 nightly build 80 with Glitch v11 LL. There's three separate problems I'm running into.
First in any of the Froyo ROMS Bluetooth audio always takes priority regardless of whether or not a headset is plugged in. With CM7 the headset always gets priority.
Here's the scenario; I've got my headphones in listening to some tunes, get in my car turn on my bluetooth car adaptor. The adaptor connects automatically but audio continues to play through the headphones. The only way I can get it to play via bluetooth is to physically unplug them. That of course pauses the music, really annoying. With all the Froyo ROMS I've run the audio switches to bluetooth automatically, no need to reach into my pocket to unplug the headphones.
Second I just got a new pair of buds with an inline mic and three button controls. I never had a chance to try them on a Froyo ROM but I've heard that at least the Play/Pause button is supposed to work and I've seen some posts on here that indicate CM7 even supports the volume buttons but so far no luck with any of them.
Finally how in the world can I specify a default music player? I generally use 3(Cubed), but in CM7 the lock screen controls as well as bluetooth controls only work for the default player. So if I'm in the car and hit next track on my bluetooth adaptor the phone starts playing two tracks at once! Fun times I tell you fun times.
Other than that I have to say CM7 kicks so much ass, this phone has never been smoother nor has the GPS ever worked this well. If anyone has any suggestions for these rather nagging troubles I'd be forever grateful!
Bumping out of ever dwindling hope...
Hi everyone,
I've been using cm on my razr for a few months. The problem has not shown up until recently, when i moved into cm10.1 by hashcode and his friends about 10 days ago.
Basically, i found my wired headset not working any more. It's a pair of stereo earphones with a microphone on it. I'm sure it works with several different devices (so it's compatible) including other moto cellphones and ipad, and also with my razr when it was running on cm10. But after upgrading things go weird: when i plug it in the phone jack, no notification appears, which should act like older cm10 telling me i'm using a wired headset. And, of course, sounds don't go into the headset, but still the phone's speaker.
I've tried searching the web, and googled a post (but i forgot the keywords so i couldn't find it anymore....); in the post the guy said his samsung, too, doesn't work with headset, and when he put the volume to the highest, he can hear some scraches in the headset. I followed his idea, but installed an app at first, which re-routes the sound into headset manually. Then, the speaker became silence as expected, but i could only find "scraches in the headset" as that guy did in his post. And i can hear large clicks & pops when plugging the earphone into & out of the jack.
Does anyone have some ideas on it? seems no previous discussion i cound find.... Thanks in advance.
ps. none of the previously working apps works, including skype, some media players, the integrated music player apollo too. The phone calls can be heard using Bluetooth headset, but no again with Wired headset.
Hi, I have had the problem that i was unable to resume my music during a workout when my bt headphones got into standby (and the music paused). I have tried several button combinations such as double tap, hold for a few seconds, single tap, etc, where as nothing really worked.
did i mess out something??
Are your headphones stereo, with support to AVCTP? When I tested my Pace with a mono headphone it didn't work for music control, as it doesn't support AVCTP, but my stereo headphones worked well. I am not sure if it works if the headphones disconnect during an activity (I've never seen one going in standby mode, mine are either on or off), but if you don't hear the connected sound after it goes on again, then it won't work.
