We regret to inform you that your RMA application form is being rejected as it appears your device has been unlocked. This has voided the warranty and we are unable to offer you an in-warranty repair
Please be informed that there will be a payment involved in repairing this product further. The starting fee is 35 pounds (excluding vat) which is only for shipping. The full quotation will be sent to you by the repair centre after the inspection.
If you elect to continue with the out of warranty ASUS repair, please be kind enough to resubmit the RMA form agreeing for possible payment terms.
You may also contact your local PC shop in order to seek for an alternative option.
We regret for the inconvenience caused.
How do they know that!! I guess I need to take my tablet apart!
They know that because when you unlock it the unlock tool sends an identifier to the Asus' servers and it has your tablet's info in it...

It's no secret that they record who grabs unlock tokens, and you did have to agree to a massive agreement when unlocking that your warranty was void.
Even if you do manage to get them to accept it for repair, they'll relock your device to rub salt into the wound.
Is there a video anywhere of a camera fix? Youtube is just full of people trying to fix their Wi-Fi

Wel, when you unlock, that info is sent to their servers, so they know.
Kind of sucks because I unlocked mine in March and since that time I have the green camera screen twice. Both times I contacted Asus through these forums (Gary Key the first time, then the Service Center Manager in Texas directly the second time) Both times they agreed to fix the issue as it was a hardware issue.
I would try and get that point across, that is in fact HW and nothing to do with unlocking. And since there are so many cases of the green screen issue, I would try and speak with someone there.
Good luck

I have never heard of anyone being able to unlock again after being locked in RMA
They dont lock it again. Mine came back as i sent it, unlocked, rooted and running Virtuous ROM.
Only way its locked again is if they replace system board and thats essentially a new device

It would be nice to see them prove how a hardware issue was caused by unlocking. Probably why they just rather do it instead . Just becuae they say something that does not mean they have the last word.

I wanted to say just go to Asus.com and click support but Asus.com is coming up blank for me at the moment, so Google for Asus and click support there, then again support, then repair repair inquiries. (Sorry, can't post the link because I haven't enough posts here)
Simply fill in your info and the problem and send. I got a response within a few hours in the form of a RMA number from Asus and an email with date & time from DHL (I'm in the Netherlands) at the same time, they picked it up the next day (last Tuesday) and it's ready for shipping back to me at the moment.
I too had the green camera issue, pinching worked for a day or two. I was on stock. I had upgraded to Jelly Bean within days of this problem starting, I've read a few who had the issue start after the ICS upgrade, so even though the pinch strongly suggests it's a hardware problem, I do find it curious that for most it started after a major upgrade.

They don't have to. If you unlocked you agreed that they would not repair it under any circumstances.
I've broken my screen on my SIII, and it's pretty serious.
I need to get it replaced, but I've heard that there are non-original Samsung screen+digitizers being placed onto the phones.
How can I tell, and what is the price of the OEM screen and digitizer, since that would probably be the only way to tell if it is genuine.
Also, will this affect my warranty if I go to a third party to replace my screen?

Your warranty will definately be affected as they would have to remove the warranty seal to install the new screen
So, then, the best option would be to send it through Samsung?

ya, i guess so, if you dont want to have your warranty voided.
So i dropped my s3 today... well the day i dont have the otter box i drop it, and the screen crack making the phone not responsive and then the screen turned all blue
and so i found this store that replaces all of that for 190$ worth?
Do the screens become laggy, and should i just stick it out with my bb 9900 for the time being (im a student) and wait for the s4 to get lower and just pick one up
I picked up my s3 in march for 325$

Replacement screens on the internet are sometimes bogus unless your really know how to criticized the item being sold. I suggest that you bring it to Samsung for repair.

How much do you think the repairs at the Samsung centers are? I got. My. Phone off someone on kijiji and he got it from Hong Kong for dirt cheap and then I found out the pho was from France pretty sure from Orange. I'm not really the type of person that wants armatures to replace my screen... But the phone is like 300$ now and I do love my phone because no one else I know has the Grey one and I can't sell it on eBay because I have personal things in it, or should I just keep it as a decoration and buy a s4 when it's lower....
I don't know what to do... Is it really worth 200$ to fix a phone that I can get for 300$ but I wonder if they'd fix everything else because I've been having signal problems

Better go and ask them about it as I haven't really encountered bringing in a phone for repair. And if you ask me if it's really worth it to repair a phone for almost half the price when you bought it... well... I think i'll pass and just get a new one because you'll encounter more issues afterwards. Of course it's a different issue when you send it Samsung for warranty issues.

If you take it to a Samsung supported repair shop they will know its under warranty by the imei and serial number. You wont even need to have the reciept if you got it from someone else.Same happened to me once.If you want to replace the screen yourself then buy one on ebay for 140 bucks and do it yourself with a video tutorial from youtube. Its not that hard mate.
Ive changed a few screens for friends with ones from ebay and they are perfectly good and dont have any problems at all.Run perfectly and you save heaps too.

If its under waranty it should be free.Otherwise get a screen from ebay for 140 and fix it yourself and then try and sell the phone for 250.
250 + the 60 you saved will be 310 to go to an S4 at least mate.Id see if its covered first and then you will have a working phone to sell + 200 bucks.

Yeah mate all warranty coverage is free if its something like a hardware issue. If you drop it and they can tell then its up to them but if you dont have any marks on the side that makes it look like it has been dropped then just say that it wont start for some reason.
The bad thing is if it has been rooted and flashed and you havent reset the binary counter. Then if they see that they will most likely send you a letter asking you to pay cos that will mean you have lost the warranty.

Yeah mate if they know its the screen from an accident then they wont fix it.If you want to purposely brick your phone and say it has SDS (sudden desth syndrome) thats up to you but you may want to just fix it yourself if you cant find a non-samsung store that will do it for cheap..meaning screen + labour maybe 200 bucks.
Better to start looking at youtube videos.

Hi everyone.
I've pre-ordered an S23 Ultra and have also purchased a 2 year Samsung Care + plan. I've been using a OnePlus 5 from 5+ years now and the last Samsung device I used was Galaxy S2.
Since Samsung's warranty becomes void if the Knox is tripped, my question is, in case there is a screen/ hardware damage to a rooted device, can it be claimed for repair/ replacement under Samsung Care+?
Because in case a rooted device will not be considered under Samsung Care+ plan too, I think I would prefer to cancel the plan. I'm looking for your suggestions on this. I am located in Canada.
P.s. I see the following exception point mentioned in the T&C's of Samsung Care+, "Device malfunction or damage due to improper installation on, or improper equipment modification to the device."
It's up to Samsung. They may charge you for a new mobo as part of the repair. I would use abd edits to optimize it instead.
Drops will likely be it's biggest enemy; use a good case. These are heavy, corner hitting, face planting happy phones when dropped. With no case a 3 foot drop onto concrete will likely damage it.
You can't trip Knox or root your phone on the Canadian or US S23U. And Samsung Care+ in Canada is only for Canadian phones. So I'm not sure why you're even worrying about this problem?

So, this goes back to @peacey8. How is it possible to not trip Knox when unlocking the bootloader unless there's a country regulation stipulating this?
There currently is no way to unlock the bootloader in the US and Canada. Additionally there is no working root exploit for these phones. It should be near impossible to trip Knox in the locked state. So it's nothing to worry about.
Unlocking the bootloader doesn't trip the Knox efuse, loading an unauthorized bootloader does.
Apparently paid services have been able to unlock the N10+'s and maybe other Snaps. I'm not that interested so haven't followed this too closely. The remote service could potentially install malware and I refuse to risk bricking a valuable device.

It's up to the person checking. Some may take it in for warranty even if the knox is tripped but some won't. I've had that experience before.

You cannot unlock the bootloader on North American variants. Only European. So my point is this question is moot, not that Knox won't be tripped if you unlock bootloader.

Omg! I've recently shifted to Canada and was not aware about this.
Now I wonder, why did I order this 1900 CA$ device.
Is there no way to unlock bootloader in Canadian S23 Ultra units? I am unsure if I'd be able to manage with a phone without an ability to flash a custom ROM.

Might as well get used to it as this is the way the industry is going. For example OnePlus 11 allows unlocking the bootloader but there is no longer a free way to fix your device if you brick it since the 9RT came out. This has meant that the 10T and 10 Pro have had basically no development.
Pixels have unlockable bootloader still and plenty of custom ROMs are available but... well... you'll be dealing with a lot of other headaches like a battery that probably won't even make it 24 hours on wifi and much less than that on 5G thanks to an inferior Samsung modem. They also have random hardware problems like I've had my screen start flickering and eventually get green lines twice on my Pixel 7 Pro and there have been many others reporting similar issues and now there are reports of pieces straight up falling off the phone surfacing too and this thing has only been out since October...
Pick your poison I guess.
wow , this is nuts . Any reason why other than make sure they sell their own software?
5-8 years ago we were laughing about Apple, but now android are doing the same thing.
Those phone a solid 8 years phone power wise, and the only way to keep them updated is aftermarket ROM !
OP, Im coming also from a OnePLus 5, and also from canada.
I also paid 1900$.
And I'm starting to regret my choice, I have only few days to return it.
Should I get a Oneplus 11 ???
I have had Android Phones since the OG T-Mobile G1. Back then, I rooted EVERY phone I have had.
Now, what is the big deal about Rooting? EVERYTHING I rooted for, you can do now without rooting. I don't get it.

There are still some apps that don't work without root. For example I use Network Signal Guru to read the QCI and report my findings back to reddit. I also use root so that I can take screenshots of any app or screen I choose (the secure flag really irritates me - even Apple doesn't dictate where and when you can take a screenshot of crap on your own device yet I can't even take a screenshot of the Comcast cap usage screen to send to my roommate unless I log into their website).
I can live without both of these things which is why I decided to get the S23U but I'll miss them regardless.

Thanks!! I get that some apps won't work without root, but it seems now that people want to root more to say they did than have a real reason for it.
I e given up on rooting mainly because of the inherent stability issue with Custom ROMs and the constant flashing.
Again, I just may be getting old. Lol!!!
