Screen is resistent to carry it without anything? I heard someone that broken the screen just by carrying it on student bag without case/screen protector.
I wanna carry mine on mine alienware bag that have a notebook space, so i want to carry on it.
If you want to keep it, protect it. Cases are very cheap to buy and you can find slim ones so why not?
Touchpad does not have gorilla glass screen, so it is easier to scratch, though glass itself is fairly scratch resistant..I don't bother to cover up my TF101 or Defy but do so with TP.
If you are planning to re-sell, the value may be affected. But when you buy it for $99 that is hardly a consideraton
I have brought it for $280 with shipping. Carrying without case is temporary, I am searching for a good one.
i am searching for a good but cheap one too.. if you find one let me know. Meanwhile, i am going to buy a screen protector
skinomi is doing a sale. Not a case, but a skin. I plan on purchasing it even tho mine is always in the HP case
cheap, effective case
The technocel case made for the iPad and sold through verizonwireless for less than $5 is great... Some minor, and easy modification are required to make it fit, but I have been using it for about week, and I have no complaints. I purchased three already. I believe the item number is 888-002 . Instructions for the modification are easy enough find.
Before I had the case I was afraid to even walking around my house holding my TP, because the thing Is so damn slippery. I almost dropped it the first day I had it.
it is a really nice case, especially for the price.
Now if I can only get tethering to work.
The screen of the touchpad is in fact made with gorilla glass.
Big Lots has some cheap ipad cases that fit nicely. I picked one up that has kick stands for portrait and landscape for $10.

Has anyone used those cheap screen protectors on ebay? Those that are like 1$. I was gonna buy a clear-coat but I thought that there must be some that are as good or even better for a cheaper price. Of course, I dont mean those 1$ ones but maybe $5, etc. So has anyone tried any protectors that were good from ebay? For me, smoothness is more important then clearness (stock protector clearness is good enough). Thanks
I always liked the cheap ebay protectors over expensive Zagg InvisibleShield. I usually buy set of 3 for 1.99 or 2.99.

LOL DONT! its **** if u live in canada (cold season in winter then hot in summer.. duh) the screen protector's first layer kinda like peels off from the screen protector itself and it looks gay... + not scratch resistent or uv resistent so its ***
I bought mine on a local mall for 8$US .. its got scratch resitent, UV resistent, auto heal ****...
I live in Canada, and for the last 5 phones ive been buying ebay protectors, cheap and not bad quality.. make sure the sellers feedback is good tho
i bought cheap screen protectors off of 2 different sellers on ebay and they are cheap for a reason! they arnt cut properly and are larger then the screen. they cover the ear peace and physical buttons just a tad. so whenever you put your phone in your pocket the sides catch on your jeans and peels off the screen selector.
It really depends. While I didn't buy any from ebay, I received 10 or so screen protectors from the seller of my X10. They look like the $1 from ebays and while the fitment is great, I see a very bad rainbow effect across the entire screen. I've never seen this on the more quality expensive ones.

This is my experience as well.
I prefer the cheap ones. I brought them for my old phones and they fit reasonably well. They are pretty good quality for the price.
Well, i have bought cheap pnes from ebay and from amazon, never had any problems at all, they have always fitted perfectly, not discolored or distorted either.
I also have some stealthguard (the ones they handing out for free - usually ~£20) shields, which is what im using at the moment.
The stealthguards "stick" better so they dont peel at the corners or anything, and they are a lot more scratch resistant so you dont have to replace them as often, but i would never pay full price for them, they simply are not worth it.
Ultimately i would recommend ordering a couple of "free" ones from stealthguard, but failing that you cant really go wrong with ebay
I have tried cheap ones for my X1 more than a year ago. Can't recommend them. They were hard to get onto the screen because they were so thin and weren't scratch resistant. Pulled them off after a few weeks each.
For my X10 I have bought protectors for 10 euros each. They are great. Scratch resistant, easy to get them onto the screen, and each lasts at least a year, until you have to pull it off, wash it and put it back on again (yes this works really).

I bought the XtremeGUARD one from eBay for less than three dollars (USD) with free shipping. (Sometimes the seller will have a sale and offer it for one dollar with free shipping.) It's one of those wet application ones where you have to use soapy water.
Aside from having to put it on with water, application can be tricky since your fingertips need to be covered in soapy water too or else fingerprints will get onto it. A lot of air bubbles will also get in there, but those are pretty easy to get rid of.
The only thing I don't like about XtremeGUARD is that it has this kind of 'orange peel' look once everything is dried and you look at the screen when it's completely dark. It's not that noticable, though, and I accept it.
The quality and protection is right up there with the expensive protectors (I do know people with the ZAGG ones), and I thought it was a good buy.
i bought 3 for a $1. the description said anti-glare but when it arrived it was basically just a regular clear protector. So in order for it to be anti-glare it has to be matte?
I don't use one on my atrix (same glass) and after only a few days I see tons of micro scratches. Many say that you don't need one with gorilla glass, but I hate not having one because of scratches, but when I do the screen is so less vivid. I am getting a TF in the next few days, do those Skinomi screen protectors muttle the screen? I plan to have it in a neoprene sleeve.
why not?
you put $400 down and invest in a tablet.
It shouldn't hurt to put another $10-$20 to insure your product safety from future usages.
Well obviously, I am just worrying about muttling the screen color.
i had a skinomi on my g-tab, and it wasn't too bad. I actually liked how it cut down on the glare. I bought one for the TF, but haven't put it on yet... I guess I better get on that.
What screen protector did you try previously that muddled colors? I've used clairvue, martin fields, seidio and sgp and they were all totally clear. For the 10 minutes i used the skinomi, that was also clear.

I have had mine for about a month now with very regular use, and I have no micro-scratches.... I don't know what one would be doing to a tablet to cause it to scratch. Do you have sandpaper on your fingers? Are you leaving it face down on the table???
I bought a $10 neoprene netbook sleeve for a case and that is all I plan on doing.

Well, better to be safe than sorry.
Like the last poster I would think these are less likely candidates for scratches. I'm going without.
I plan on not using a protector. If I see scratches, then I will decide. none yet!
I think screen protectors are seriously ugly. Unless you are not using a sleeve when carrying it in a bag with other items, i would not get one. It isnt like you are carrying it in your pocket with keys.
I don't like screen protectors at all. It makes me think of old times when the protector was a "must-have" for all smartphones like Diamond because of his fragile screen. For last whole year I've used Desire without any screen protector. It screen looks still as new one (maybe one scratch like a hair could be visible from specific angle) but the comfort of usage is priceless. I will try to buy some case for my TF, but without anything on the screen.
If I'm going to pay $500 for a tablet then you can bet I'm putting on a screen protector even if the screen is supposedly scratch proof. I would hate to say "if only" when I do end up scratching it. Definitely rather be safe then sorry.

A tablet is not a cellphone that gets tossed around. Do you have a screen protector on your TV? On your computer monitor? On your lap top monitor?
How exactly do you think you are going to get a scratch on it? Are you keeping it in your purse with a set of keys? Or will you keep in in a case?
My tablet is either in my hand, or in a case. What do I need a screen protector for? I paid good money for a nice screen. Putting a protector on it seriously degrades the picture quality.
Also remember that many of the "OMG WHAT A COOL SCREEN PROTECTOR!!" posts on this or any forum are likely put there by the manufacturer as covert advertising.
I got the screen protect from Electroniccrap. It's "anti glare/anti fingerprint" so its not "crystal" clear, but I love it just cuz swiping the screen just feels so much smoother.
But then again, that's just me

Link Plox?
Also what is the best neoprene case that fits both the tablet alone and the tablet with the keyboard snugly?
I was thinking this. http://www.amazon.com/Incase-CL5736...D054/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307478089&sr=8-1
Maybe the guys who like screen protectors over gorilla glass are the same guys who wear a t-shirt over a bullet proof vest for more protection.

I concur, what is the point of having Gorilla glass if it is so susceptible to any scratches? If you are going to put a portfolio case on it then it would act the same as when you close the lid on your laptop. All my years with my Toshiba Lap I never once considered a screen protector nor had any scratches. Just a waste of money and a marketing ploy to gouge customers out of unnecessary accessories to inflate the overall market for these devices.
All I would be looking at is a portfolio case and microsd card, that's about it.

But I like incase, and love their quality. My only question is will that sleeve fit the tablet alone snugly, what about the tablet and the keyboard?
Just got my dock yesterday (love it!) but it's not compatible with the leather case that I'd been using for the tablet only. I've seen the dock+tablet leather cases that people have posted but they add so much bulk to the device! Is anyone else using/planning to use the dock+tablet without a case or screen protector? What have been your experiences? Is the backside riddled with scratches? I've got a simple netbook pouch to carry it around in but beyond that I just don't see a good solution for protecting it. Just wanted to get some input and hopefully confirmation that I'm not making a huge mistake!
If your looking for great protection with the dock included and little to no bulk try the skinomi skins!
http://www.skinomi.com/astrpr.html
The metal scratches easily so yes. I'm getting the skinomi with a sleeve for mine. Already have 2 small scratches on the back.
I just use a netbook sleeve that I made myself using felt and padding
Sent from my Galaxy S2
im using a swiss sleeve from walmart right now, i have a minisuit full case for dock and tablet on preorder. i dont feel its necessary for a case right now. think of laptops, most of us dont have bulky cases around our laptops, just a carrier bag to put them in.
I just use a netbook sleeve myself. When it's out and in use its unprotected. I have a few scratches on the back but really not that worried about it. It's a tool and going to see some normal wear and tear. Anytime I take it anywhere I have it in the dock and closed and the screen is still pristine and I expect it to stay that way. Have had gorilla glass on both my past phones and never had any kind of case on them and never a scratch which is impressive considering its in and out of my pockets all day.
Not at all why pay money for a case when you can get a 2 year full coverage accidental warranty from square trade for 69.99? Check my thread in general for more information

Hi, this is my first post here.
Im looking to buy a screen protector to protect my screen
Im currently looking at these two:
a) ZAGG invisibleSHIELD - Asus EEE Transformer Prime - SCREEN Protector
b) 2Pack S-Shieldz Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime TF201 LCD Screen Protector Shield
I use the dock a lot which means that it should not get ripped out by the dock.
What im looking for is solid protection from my scratches my nails inflict on the screen.
It should also be nice to touch, i prefer something over which my hand glides even if the whole screen is filled with sweat from my hands.
Also i would prefer something which is easy to apply. I did a shoddy job with the screen protector on my iPhone 4 and now its full with air bubbles.
And last but not the least, Image quality should not take a hit.
Thanks.
I would post a link but it turns out i cant do that unless i post 10 messages
I don't have experience with either of them on the Prime, but I do have a Zagg screen protector on my phone, and it does the job well enough, but there is a bit of orange peel texture that comes through in certain lights. It feels nice to the touch, also.
Personally, when I finally break down and get a screen protector, I'm probably going to go with Skinomi. I had one on my last tablet, and I liked it better than the Zagg.
I use BodyGuardz for my Phone and Tablet http://www.bodyguardz.com/
I bought this, Ultra-thin Transparency & Super Clear protection screen protector
Two options.
First is go cheap, get the clear hard plastic ones from ebay. should be maybe a couple dollars? Like the cheap phone ones, they put on easy, but scratch easy. throw the used one away and buy another one.
Second option, get a high quality "military grade" protector. They are all very similar, essentially thicker, more of a rubbery feel to them, last a lot longer.
If you go for option two know that most of the brands are selling the same material in different packaging. Some are thinner than others (zag is one of the thickest) and thin usually means less rubbery / less texture to annoy you. After years of using a Zagg on my phone it recently got too dirty to use and im back to the plastic protectors, damn i forgot how clear my screen used to be! Will likely not go back to zagg. Good product for protection, bad for clarity.
There are kiosks in the malls around there that will do a custom protector for your device for around $50, much thinner material than zagg or others, and roughly the same price for front and back protection, only problem is lifetime guarentee is useless if the kiosks dissapear.
When all else fails, check out what friends are using, if you like a protector on their device, go for it. Often the online less expensive options can be just as good as zagg with half the cost, zagg is a ripoff because of huge markups.
SKINOMI.COM FOR THE WORLD! By far best of the military grade options in my opinion, and the greatest customer service I've ever experienced for easy replacements.

I have an Xrtreme Guard on my Prime right now. Got it for less than $5 on the website. It's similar to an Invisible Shield or Ghost Armor but has less of an orange peel feel and look.

I love the Skinomi. It's cut perfectly for my dock and it's fairly smooth.
I just purchased the LTE version off eBay and I'll be needing a case and screen protector for it.
For the screen protector, I just want the plain 99-cents-for-3-pack type ones - no fancy wet application ones, or ones that give it a rubbery feeling, or that will peel and wear due to how thick they are, etc. And for some reason, I'm having trouble finding them - which is funny because its usually the oppsoite.
For the case, I'd like something that's still compatible with the official charge dock. From what I understand there's an adapter included to make it work with cases, but I still don't want anything bulky - I don't drop my phones, I just need protection from everyday wear. A plain slim snap on case would do - big plus if its legit bamboo/wood on the back (not cheap plastic or skin); nothing that covers the buttons, though, as I like their tactile feel.
Suggestions?

Ehm... pretentious much?
JK man, I guess you'll have to wait a bit more for more options to come when the handset is available worldwide.
In the meantime, you could check cases from PDAir, they seem like real premium ones, leather too.
Anyway, you can find simple screen protectors off eBay for 2/3 bucks for 3, but I went premium even there and bought the Gearmaxxx one off eBay, like 20 bucks for front+back.

To be fair, I think the guy I bought it from is a fraud and doesn't actually have them. Haven't received any communication from him since the 5th, even though I left a note upon purchase. Thank goodness I used Bill Me Later, I'm not actually out of that huge amount of money until I can cancel the transaction (if it comes to that).
And yeah I went ahead and got these two sets of screen protectors, plus this clear case for now:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/121159453538
http://www.ebay.com/itm/121167852672
http://www.ebay.com/itm/121160352193
Figure I'll give it a shot using the matte screen protector and see how I like it, and go clear if I can't take the loss in quality. And I'm considering the Incipio Watson since I do like their folio cases, but I'm not sure how I feel about having it on a phone (only had it on a tablet) and with no kickstand support.
Can I get some feedback please?
It stands between these two screen protectors

I'm looking for that glass feeling on the film when I'm using the phone. I had a screen protector like this on my SGS2 but I can't remember the name of the product. I don't want this rubbery feeling or the feeling that there actually is a screen protector there.
