What do you guys think of the new Facebook update? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Much needed update IMO
http://omgdroid.com/2011/09/12/facebook-android-update-brings-ability-tag-friends-posts/

I like it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using xda premium

yeah, I always wondered where the tagging was... it's about time!

Pretty nice. But hope they can do a little more about the group feature.

gets better with every update... like the new photo/video function

I am not a heavy facebook user, so the changes did not seem all that significant to me.
Maybe with a better app, I will start using it more??

My thoughts are ...
FINALLY! Posts can be removed!
It is almost an exact copy of the iPhone app tho so if this is done with the facebook app, let's hope developers start doing it more often One thing they must remember tho is ... WE HAVE A MENU BUTTON!

It has annoyed me ever since my mate posted something (that I didn't want him to ) on my wall using his crappy BB 8520, when I tried removing it I couldn't ha, even with friendcaster Pro so I had to ask him to do it and he could of his basic blackberry haha

I like it. Especially the way you can choose what group you want to see the post. I can't do that with the Facebook website.

What facebook app are you using?

I don't really like the official facebook for android app... what are you using or recommend?
Things I look for is upload pictures and videos (with tagging capabilities), working notifications and easy link/youtube sharing...
Thanks!
+1 wondering the same. I'm new to FB and I don't understand why the apps are different than the desktop versions. It's like they are never up to date? Idk

Looks good, but two issues for me. Looking at the discussion, sounds like the developer is not answering questions with issues recently. Unless it's in a different thread I haven't seen. And program is not posted as APK, which I need since I don't own a computer.

How does socialjogger handle the qHD resolution of the 3VO? I.E. does it just leave the application a little on the short side?
Social jogger works great a little laggy at times but better than fb app.

Mod for texting through pc

Good morning everyone,
To keep it simple, I am looking for an app/mod for texting through the PC.
For example, a text comes in and it shows on my PC and I can answer back through my PC.
Phone: Rooted HTC Evo 3D MIUI latest.
PC: Windows 7 Pro.
Any help will be really appreciated.
Thank you beforehand.
Best regards,
Raul.
Can we please just answer this guy and not go off like kids for once? Sorry man but I can't help here. Hopefully someone will be able to. Please make sure questions are posted in the q&a section.

I used to use Google voice a lot for voicemail but once I figured out its integration with SMS, it got really annoying. I didnt want it saving all my text messages in its system and having to delete them every week while going through my voicemails. I even went through all the settings, but was only able to either dissable all SMS on the phone, or let it handle the Texts so I deleted the app until they fix that.

To be completely honest, I don't know. I use it every day when I get into the office. My phone goes in the dock and connects to WiFi. I run the program and open the browser, login, and I'm good to go. I can listen to my music from my phone, read/answer text messages, look at pictures, install apps. The only thing I wish it did was emulation of your phone, but it's not necessary. Give it a shot, you'll be glad you did.
What your asking is exactly what Google Voice does. I have it and it's pretty great. On sprint it's integrated so you can even make your number the GVoice number so no problems there. I would suggest that.

Like I said, I used it as well but I hated the fact that it was all my text messages and they would not delete after deleting from my phone. But the main reason I didn't like it is that it would sync together with the voice mails so I would have to dig through all the text to find the voice mails.
Speaking of Google voice, any one know of an alternative?
I am rooted with MIUI but voice mail doesn't seem to work on it.
What do you guys suggest?

I still don't understand why people act that way. If your not a moderator, then don't say anything. Its not your job unless you want to give someone a heads up, but don't kill the guy. Its not like I go on the forum and say, today I am going to post in the wrong section on purpose to piss people off. Either way, if posting in the wrong section bothers you to the extent that you have to ***** the other guy out, you spend too much time in front of the computer. Go outside and get some fresh air. Q: Is GVNotifier portable?
A: Yes, copy the application files from the GVNotifier install loction. Create a blank text file named settings.xml in the same directory as GVNotifier.net.exe. GVNotifier will then store all preferences and cached contact photos in the same directory.

I think you have to use chrome because it has a chrome extention.

OpenDesign

Ok,i just came across this article and i have to agree that this idea sounds really awesome. The best features from various Carrier skins? Hell yeah!
For eg: I like this feature in TouchWiz which allows you to swipe on an entry in your call log and lets you either call or text that person. That would be a killer feature to have in Cyanogenmod IMHO.
Whats your favorite feature that you want to include? The official site already has a few listed out.
Oh,did i mention they also have an open call for developers to join them?
Check it out!

I especially liked the direct lockscreen information enhancement and almost all the native app enhancements.

I could ask the moderator to do that, but is this thread valuable enough? There are only 4 of us talking about it yet & I would prefer if this thread was on top thanks to the conversations on it.

It is valuable enough..just that people to need to know about this and talk needs to go around regarading this topic..
I know its valuable. But it will be hard to discuss until development actually starts in full flow and they give some updates. Only then will we have some topics worth talking about. Let us see, site's up. Something should be announced sooner or later.
Hope for the best...

Contacts+ "Best Contact App Ever for Android"

Just thought I'd let you folks know about Contacts+ , the contacts app I'm using on my stock now.
It is totally packed with features (chiefly, integration with social networks, WhatsApp integration and smart ordering), looks absolutely lovely, and just elevates the Android experience when using a smartphone.
As an added bonus, it pimps out your SMS and call log appearance and functionality as well.

I appreciate you trying to contribute - nothing wrong there. However, some of your previous efforts were in bad taste, I.e. -- posting other's work without credit. It seems you're trying a different approach now, so I can appreciate that.

For real this post belongs in the android app development section. These themes and app threads aren't meant for people to promote their app. You might not be the developer but judging by the fact the thread is almost identical makes it look the the dev is trying to advertise their app, and this isn't the place at all. There are people that are actually taking their time and making mods/themes and all the threads keep getting pushed to the bottom of the list because of threads like this. I posted a themed app last night and its sad that its 10 posts below this already. If people want an alternate contacts app they will do what everyone else does, and search the playstore, not come to a device specific thread looking for a copy/pasted review of the app. At least you didn't completely kang this particular developers work like your aosp browser/mms/miui music threads.

Where is your droid

I just wanted to make a quick post here about an app that I have been using for quite a while, and finally purchased the full version. Its called "Wheres my Droid"https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alienmanfc6.wheresmyandroid&hl=en I am sure you have probably all heard of it or have it because it has over 10 million downloads, but I just wanted to let you know that if you are on the fence, it is definitely worth buying the full version. (Why do I feel like I am writing a fake penis enhancement ad just because I am promoting something) It is working really well on Infected 2.4.
My friends thought they could hide my phone from me, so I emailed them a picture of them holding my phone in their room(taken from my phone) then remote locked it. It was great.
Anyway Just thoguht I would let you guys know that I think it is worth it. Thanks
If this post needs to be removed I will take it down, I didn't really read the ruled of this board... sorry
