Hello. Today I bought an Xperia X10 from a SH store. Anyway the phone came in great conditions and at a great price. The boy from there gave me the phone and charger + USB cable. All things good till I start charging it. I should mention that when I got the phone it was at aprox. 60% and after using intensively (like when you just buy a phone) it was, after 5 h, at 22%.
Let's get to the problem: I plug the phone with the charger to socket and let it charge. After 3h it went from 22% to 52% . I mean this is really impossible to understand.
My question is how can I find what is wrong. Now I'm wondering if the charger or the USB cable or the Battery is not original.
On the charger there is written SonyEricsson, so I guess it is original. I'll try tomorrow to search for it's S/N on the net. The Output Voltage is 5V and 700mA, which I saw that is normal for an original charger.
The USB cable looks kind of fishy to me.
The battery seems original.
So what could it be wrong and how can I find it out? Any thoughts, beside what I've asked, about this kind of problem are well appreciated.
Thank you.
That's odd considering the current that was flowing to your battery. Try turning off your phone and charging it to 100%. Maybe It needs some adjusting. Also i suggest rooting your phone, no problems with battery at all with the ROMS that are out
Thank you for your fast response. I'll try to charge it to full when it is powered off to see if time differs.
When do you mean "no battery problems with available ROM's" do you mean no charging problems?
yes i mean that
The only reasons u could have a reduction of current is if heat is an issue or if your phone is in heavy use. Also if the charger is faulty of course. So check the temperature while charging and try diabling wifi and any data u have going on the phone. That should help.

Thank you for your response. While I left the phone charging there was nothing running at all. Also I didn't notice the phone heating too much.
I went to the guy from who I bought the phone, and he said that he will order an original charger at no cost for me. So I think I'll wait for that one and see how it works.
But out of curiosity: could it also be the cable that is limiting the power? The cable is not original.

Yes, a faulty cable can't charge the phone properly.
Wait and see how it goes with the new charger!
Did you plug it in staight after you used it? My phone seems to drain when it is at around 45 degrees even though it doesnt feel hot. Let it cool by turning it off for 10 minutes or so and try again.

Everything is fine now with the new charger which looks more than original and the USB Cable, also original. (The charge time is ~ 2-3h - empty -> full)
Thank you all for your help.
Any idea why charging galaxy s2's battery take about 8 hours to be charged... any idea why?
bump
anyone?
Are you using the phone at all? Are you charging through mains or trickle charging through PC USB?
i usually charge from mains... and i dont use the phone much while charging.
Hello peopel, first of all sorry for my english.
I have a problem with my S2 - all the time he say he is charge
but he is not connected to the computer/charger.
when i do charge and i reach 100% battery, he tell me to disconnect,
so i disconnect but the warrning not going off.
he still think he is getting charged.
The battery now goes from 100% to 0% in like 3-4 hours of avarage use.
i tried new Rom/Kernel/charger/usb cable/battery
nothing helped.
Any ideas?
Two easy jump conclusions:
1. Battery needs replacement OR
2. You need to reset battery stats in CWM if you haven't done that for a long time.

You mean it is charging even though it is not connected to anything? Some people reported a problem similar to that. They just cleaned the charging port with a dry toothbrush. Maybe something is in the charging port that causes the phone is still charging. Or if you mean it is 100% all the time then this is the first time i have heard of this issue. Are you on stock rom? Are you rooted? Can you give us any further info?

as "@ephraim033" said, if the phone is saying that "is charging", but the charger isn't pluged in, you have to clean the micro usb port, because it is full of dust
Hello,
I live in Australia and bought my I9300 from HONG KONG.
I had this charging issue from 2 weeks ago and I've searched many thread about i9300 charging issues.
Today I decide and just sent my s3 to repair shop and I asked them about change of charging port of my s3.
1. Sometimes my s3 charging alright but not fast as before it depends on time like 1% per 4 min or 1% per 9min. Sometimes not charging just discharging while A/C charger connected.
2. The charger as usb line + wall charger works alright without disconnect problem (but charge speed was slow).
3. The charger as like wall charger just line with wall charger not usb. (disconnect if connect wall charger)
I'm really confused this problem was related with hardware or software.
I'm not sure if the charging port replaced will solve the problem.
Please give me opinions.
Thank you for read and sorry for my English.
Regards,
Jin
First try to turn off your device and connect it to the wall charger, the device should start recharge without starting the android os.
second, is the wall adapter getting extremely hot while charging slowly?
third, try to charge with your computer usb port.
fourth, try to find someone with different phone and use his battery for a day. is it the same?
if you know a bit electronics, i suggest you to check your battery voltage using AVO-Meter, if it much lower then it should be (written on the battery itself) it means that somehow your battery reached end-of-life (maybe you bought used one?)
Thanks for reply.
I've already tried my sister's battery, too.
So I know the problem was not related with battery life.
This problem make me headache everyday.. I'm bit worried about phone repair will be completed well because I have to pay money...
PS: I have custom rom foxhound 4.1.2 jellybean ver. and I already downgrade to ICS Omega rom previous time. And this problem first happened when I used ICS Omega Rom.. so confused about hardware or software problem.. I just woke up 2 hours ago and can't go to sleep because very worried about repair phone thing..
if your concern is about software why wouldn't you just flash the phone stock rom? do you have any backup?
my nexus 9 charging very slow, 1 hour only went 10%, when it is 45%, it shows 7 hours until full. Also, screen automatically off without reason, can anyone help me?
Mine is also charging very slow. I hope this can get fixed with an software update or custom kernel.
Maybe you have something working in the background. If in doubt, Always do a reboot
Are you using the standard charger?

My first impression was yeah it's slow! But from 0% to 100%. About 5hrs not to bad considering its a 6700mah. Can live with that
It's a 1.5A charger, charging a 25.46 Wh battery. I do not think software can bend laws of physics
Seriously I do not know what were they thinking, the original Nexus 7 has a 2A charger, the Nexus 6 ships with a "turbo charger", it's just...
Would I do any harm charging it with my 2A Nexus 7 charger?

I've tried that and it doesn't charge any faster.. If we're to charge with more than 1.5A this has to be adjusted in the kernel. Faux had implemented something like it on the Nexus 5, where I was able to charge with my 2A charger.
Smashed down on the mighty Nexus 9
happend to me too...
Mine was at 30% last night. I plugged it in and 8 hours later it was at 80%. Something seems a little weird.
I noticed the same thing last night, rebooted it right before bed, put it on the charger at 24%, and this morning after seven hours or so it was at 84%
Does it say "charging (AC)" or "charging (USB)"? Charging at the USB rate is probablly going to be pretty slow. Using my anker 45w charger and a decent cable got it charged in reasonable time IMO.
Using the HTC charging block i got with the N9 it was estimating 7hours charge time. So i plugged it into my LG G2 charging block and it went down to 4hours. The LG is a 2.1Amp block
70% battery level.
Nexus 1.8 A fast charger - 1,20 hours left.
Htc 1.5A charger - 2 hours left.
So Damn you google for including a slow charger for a 6.7 A battery.
htc charger give me 0,46A(one time 1,26A). Orico OPC-4US 4 charger 1,38A. Bug in nexus?

Hi
As a note, plugging into a computer to charge, even with high current USB charging ports can see significantly longer charging times, this is because while the computer is on, the phone never sleeps (stays awake with screen off to maintain the USB data connection), and so apps and other processes are free to do what they like, and it doesn't take much ramping up the CPU on these devices to see most or all of the charging current diverted to just running the device.
Normal USB charging at 500mA when the computer is on, so USB data connection connected meaning the Nexus never deep sleeps will take an age, and if an app is constantly doing something, the CPU can easily be ramping up enough to still see battery drain even when charging.
I use an app called CPU Spy, if when the device isn't being used and is off charge, if deep sleep percentage is less than 90%, an app is usually the culprit and is constantly waking and holding awake the device, so this results in quicker run down times of the battery, and will also slow it's recharging.

Phil
I don´t know why but can´t see my nexus 5 on pc with the usb cable from nexus 9. I think something is wrong with this cable....try another cable and no problems. Maybe this is related to the problems with charging in nexus 9, so try with another cable. Hope that helps.

Yes something wrong with the cable. I discover it accidentally, because I give my girlfriend the nexus 1.8 A charger for the nexus 9. So when I connect my nexus 5 to the nexus 9 usb charger I noticed slow charging times and pc didnt recognice the device.

 That's the longest product name I've ever heard of.
I can confirm that the cable is at fault. My charging time shortened drastically when I change the cable.
