i'm stuck in a boot loop after updating my phone to the latest nightlie of cm7 (fascinatemtd 35.zip) and can't boot into recovery neither...what can i do?
1. Download Android SDK onto your PC, install on c: (root directory)
2. Connect phone to PC
3. Open command prompt on PC
4. Navigate (within command prompt) to c:\AndroidSDK\AndroidSDK-Windows\platform_tools\
5. Boot phone
6. While in bootloop, type "adb reboot recovery" in command prompt
7. Your phone should now be in the proper mtd recovery
8. Profit
Another Fascinating post by my XDA app...
ok thank you,i'll try it! keep in touch so i can tell you if i have some problems...
and waht should i do after getting to recovery? i tryed everything bur nothing happend!
1) try flashing a different kernel
or
2) wipe factory, wipe cache and Dalvik then reinstall CM7 35.zip
they are your best options or flash JTs VanGB rom
Good Luck!
i allready done it but nothing! wipe cache/data/dalvik and when i do the "install from sd card" and chose the zip ist show me like everything going well but getting into boot loop again...another option???

If you did that already and you still get a boot loop, my guess was your original download was corrupt..try re- downloading cm7 and flash again

Can you get into download mode? If so all you have to do is Odin eb01 with the atlas 2.2 pit file with repartition checked and when Odin is done reboot it, then you can try installing
cm7 again...I'll edit the post in a minute with some links

ok thank you alot i'll try it too. and something that may help you: I can get into cwm4 recovery mod but get some strange popups everytime (E: can't mount /cache/recovery/command and that stuff...) and i tried install others zip files (i put them inside my sd card using another phone) but allways failed... tell you something?
I thought you were boot looping? If you can get into recovery how are you doing so? three finger method? I ask because that will cause you problems
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
yea i was i boot looping but when I take my battery off, I can turn it on with the three finger method and...
but thank you all so much! finally i fix my phone (and now i'm try to restore everything and root it again...) thank you very much!
Glad to hear its running again,I think that's why you got all those errors when in recovery because once your on cm7 , or any other Mtd build you can't use the three finger method anymore..if you run into problems again..it may be a pain in the ass but doing the eb01 and 2.2 pit repartition will always get back up and ready for a clean install if you really screw things up.

Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167373 And scroll down to the CWM section. It is best to install this via moto-fastboot. I dont all this last nigh started with the full 1.8.3 sbf and worked my way all the way through and everything installed correctly. You prob. cant instal the new one cause you have to delete a file with root explorer before installing the new one.
The tenfar cwm that I installed was a .img that I flashed using fastboot. If you want an easier solution, just install rom manager from the market and flash its version of cwm and install the rom that way. ATRIX is now officially supported. One thing to note with this method: the cwm does not allow installing a zip from an external sd card, so be sure to move the zip to the internal before installing.

I am not sure exactly where I went wrong, but
1. I rooted and unlocked without any problems.
2. Downloaded CMW recovery.
3. Booted into recovery
4. Wiped
5. installed Gingerbread 2.3.4 ROM from sd card
6. After complete, wiped again
7. Rebooted
Now all I see is the Moto logo with "unlocked" in the top left corner
I cannot install I new ROM, since recovery won't read sd-ext and I can't mount usb. Please help!!

I know what I did wrong, and I know the jeering may commence, and that is fine, just please also offer advice on how to fix.
I did not use the Tenfurs Recovery. Out of habit of using Clockworld Rom Manager- Eris, Droid, Captivate, that's what I did before reading up enough (overly excited, I know!). Now I'm stuck and cannot get past the boot logo. I keep looking around for a way to push Tenfurs recovery (or anything) using adb and I can't get things to work since I cannot boot. Any suggestions on steps to take?

I feel silly, but all is well in Moto land now. Of course I got myself into all of that trouble because I was impatient. I did the following to fix everything. I know these details are elsewhere...
Fastboot from Windows:

fastboot.exe flash recovery recovery.img (tenfar's)
fastboot.exe reboot
flashed Gingerbread and rebooted. I'm good to go!

Same thing happened to me yesterday..the only way I got my phone working again was to odin eb01 with the atlas 2.2..reboot fully...I then tried to go back to cm7 and got the same message and the only way I was about to fix it was to flash the com rom 2.0 obviously wipe everything before..let that boot and tried to flash cm7 with the recovery from com rom....still same message...i had to odin otb3.x.x.recovery... Download times infinity's recovery zip and flash that in otb recovery, then reboot recovery so I had ti's purple recovery...wipe everything and flash cm7...and success! No I don't think its omfgb related cause I've never ran that rom but I do think it has something to do with all the different recoveries we have floating around and so many different builds with different formats things are bound to get screwed up...my problem came from forgetting to wipe before flashing a different kernel and got me stuck in a boot loop.

I've had this problem ever since I got my Fascinate and tried to get CM7 on it. (2 days ago) I was always able to flash new builds just fine if I managed to get into the orange recovery and not the CM7 one. I believe the one I used was the one on ROM Manager.
This is kinda upsetting...

Its not the quickest but it should get you back...odin eb01 with the atlas 2.2pit...and reboot. Then odin recovery boot immediately to recovery via 3 finger salute...wipe everything and flash the rom you want...I've had good luck with cwm 3-30 fix all or otb 3x.x.x....if you want to go to cm7 odin the fixed recovery in jt's post and flash cm7 from that recovery....the sticky in the dev section...going from cm7/miui/gb to any other rom should give you some good info and instructions

Yup...boot into the otb 3x.x.x recovery and flash the times infinity.zip and then select reboot recovery while in cwm and it should go from the otb one to the times infinity one...at that point wipe everything and flash cm7 build 7/17..not the nightly....once your on the mtd build you can flash the nightly if you wanted

Any suggestions if you cant get odin to recognize the phone? Ive tried three Win7 machines both x86 and x64 and three different cables...ALL of them say unknown device. Ive tried pointing to both the Sammy drivers and the nexus ones with no luck.
My phone was revived by simply doing the atlas odin method. I then flashed a fully rooted image...and from there on it's child's play. With that said, I can't get into download mode now, to odin things. What could be causing that? Not, very urgent, because at the moment the phone is running like it should
Thanks so much!
OK so I copied infinity times cwm red to phone and applied that. I still got message about cache. I ran the cwm4 from recovery and now Im back to square one again. I can try to install a ROM, but it boot loops everytime. Can my phone be revived w/o odin? Do I need an updated update.zip file?

unfortunately a boot loop normally requires odin...use the eb01 tar and the atlas 2.2pit and your phone will be back up and running
From there I would flash com rom and reboot then if you wanna take a stab at cm7...try and flash it with the com rom recovery...if it doesn't work you can just try odin'ing different recoveries as long as you don't let the phone boot fully you can simply pull the battery and try to odin a different recovery.try the one from com rom, the 3-30 fix all, ti's recovery, or jt's fixed recovery...I don't know where I got the file but I also have a recovery named fixed 3 x.x for cm7 but I came remember where I got it.it is important that you let eb01 sit for a few minutes after booting and also let com rom sit for a few minutes after flashing also...I just skipped all the setup stuff to get the main screen and then pulled the battery and started flashing

anyone see this? any suggestions? would a wipe fix it?
did you flash a rom if so which one?
no ROMs, simply just tried flashing CWM via Odin
may i ask why 2.3.5?
what were you trying to do?
i am still able to get into Download mode to flash files via Odin, so i dont think all is lost. but, still just stuck in recovery. when i try to reboot it just takes me right back into recovery. i may have flashed an incorrect version of CWM which could be the cause of this problem. if that was the case, any ideas as to how i can get back into a proper boot?

I was trying to flash CWM so i could flash a custom ROM. Had this phone forever and was just looking to try out some ROMs out there.
As long as you odin cwm none of your os is really touched.
try the cwm 4 fixed for cm7. http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...2&d=1311907538
Now when you reboot your device the stock kernel will over right the cwm.
also make sure you put the odin file in the PDA section.
So basically flash the new cwm and try booting into normal that should get you back where you started from. 100% stock.
that link didnt work. tried searching for the thread without any luck
for some reason it truncated the link with a '...' and it thinks that is part of the hyperlink

thanks.. so i flashed this via odin. same problem. i start the phone. the samsung logo comes up. it disappears for a second. then it comes back up and kicks me into recovery.
weird right? any suggestions
ok then what is your endgame?
Now before you said you flashed just the CWM, may i ask why...if you did not intend to flash a rom? were you going to flash a Kernel or obtain root?
Perhaps you should try this
Download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278838
It is a custom kernel.
Now Flash CWM with odin
Put battery back in [dont touch power button yet]
Hold down BOTH volume and Power all at once * Dont let go until you see Samsung Logo.
[should still be plugged into pc via usb]
You will boot into CWM
using the volume up and down-Scroll down to Mounts and storage [select it by hitting the power button]
Then scroll to Mout USB storage
~now you should be able to see your SDCard as storage on your PC, put the Kernel some where on your SD Card~
[back on your phone Then Select Unmount
Scroll to ****Go bacK***** [select]
Scroll to install zip from sd card [select]
Select choose zip from sdcard
Navigate to where you have the zip
Select it
Scroll down to Yes-Flash........
Let the phone do its thing!
Good luck!

Try flashing CWM recovery again using Heimdall or Odin. Once it boots into recovery, flash TWRP or another recovery of your choice, then reboot and hopefully you will see your boot animation. That's what I did to get AOKP build 40 to boot again (though strangely enough, it's stuck with Devil recovery even after flashing TWRP). Hope this helps you guys out. And be sure to make backups!

You should be able to mount your SD card in recovery anyway. If not, take it out and insert it into an adapter to plug into your computer. I don't know if there's an Odin version of TWRP, I flashed it in CWM recovery.
I would read droid styles guide first if you have not yet as it has all the answers you will need. You just need to read through it and following the directions.

If you're using CWM, it's under Advanced or Mounts and Storage. Plug in the USB cable like you normally would.

You got the zip, right? It's in the Fascinate development section of the forums.
There is nothing wrong with the phone. I don't understand why you can't just Odin back to stock and start over. With the amount of time you have been stuck in recovery you could have fixed it by now. It you could follow droid styles guide to get out of the recovery loop without going back to stock. Something tells me you really just want a new phone...am I close???

If you've already tried Heimdall-flashing CWM again, and that didn't work, then I suggest you Odin back to stock as shelby suggested. If you haven't made a nandroid already, do so, then revert back to stock and start from scratch. You can try restoring your nandroid once you're no longer stuck in recovery.

I have a mez and I just got the sgs3 a little while ago. You need to check out section 8 or 9 I think of the guide. It tells you exactly how to get out of your situation.

There's also a topic about the "three-finger recovery boot loop" fix. You could try that.
Hi guys,
I basically wiped my phone and completely forgot to copy the ROM I wanted to flash into my ext SD card. Now, the phone has no ROM to boot into and I need to be able to mount it onto Windows from within the recovery to be able to do it. I'm running CWM 6.0.2.7
Has anyone ever done this? What should I do?
Thanks
Wipe data doesn't mean format (like PC) it's just a factory reset
you can flash any official FW for your device by Odin
So it isn't possible for Windows to detect the phone in any way so I can copy the ROM into it?
It's possible by using ADB and push it
but why you don't boot up your device and copy it?
Use adb to push the file onto the card. Or remove ext. SD card and use a reader to copy it over.
Here is a good adb interface, it has easy push/pull where you just supply the two file paths and hit go,

Thanks for the prompt replies everyone.
I just re-flashed an original FW through Odin, rooted it back, re-installed CWM Recovery and now tried to flash a new rom, in this case, Foxhound and after it tries to reboot it comes back into CWM always... it never boots into the ROM..
Anyone has any clue why this would be happening?

The ROM? Just did and the same thing happens, boots up to Samsun Galaxy logo, then that "eye" logo then reboots again into CWM. At all times.
I just installed Omega just to try it out and it works, boots into the ROM, with Foxhound it doesn't even reach the Foxhound Logo, it reboots and goes back to CWM... Any ideas? I can't post in the Foxhound thread due to lack of posts
Flash stock Rom, and allow it to boot up properly before you do anything else....did you do that?

Yes, two times already. Then rooted, then flashed CWM Recovery then wiped data etc, flashed foxhound and same thing happens. Tried Omega and it boots into it, it's only Foxhound and I really wanted to try it...
I'm sorry this thread has derailed into another issue but thought it wasn't worth cluttering with yet another thread.
Is it possible to shut down the phone from CWM Recovery aside from doing a battery pull?
Could be a bad download. Try downloading again.
