I am currently running cleanROM 2.2 and I would like to go back to stock completely. My phone is currently S-Off. what is the simplest procedure to return to stock?
Are you on Sprint? If so, the easiest way is to flash the RUU. Football posted it here. That's the most recent once with HBOOT 1.50. You will still retain s-off after flashing the RUU, but it will say LOCKED at the top. You could probably also use the older RUU (which you can find by searching for threads created by football in cdma evo 3d dev forum). There is an adb command to turn s-on. It's in the guides about returning to stock posted in cdma evo 3d dev forum.
RUU (ROM Update Utility) is the best method to return a device completely stock. I know all three Sprint EVO 3D software versions have had a leaked RUU by Football and all three are mirrored on goo-inside.me : http://goo-inside.me/shooter/ruu/
Also, if you're on a Mac or Linux, the .exe will not be as easy to run. The .zip versions of the RUU files are also available at that same link on goo-inside.me. Simply place the .zip file onto the root of the sdcard and boot into the bootloader. It will automatically scan and verify the .zip file then prompt whether or not you want it to be loaded.
Hope that helps!
ok so I just use the 2.08.651.2 file and put it in my memory card and flash it through bootloader? so my rooted status and s-on will be removed?
wow! you are trying to go back to stock and im trying to root my phone unfortunately i have the new update 2.3.4 i cant root yet if you want we can trade lol

O wow I didn't know that I won't be able to root again. I am just gonna update using the older PG file then to get 2.3.3 I guess.

Hello everyone, I am checking here to see if anyone might know. I used to have a Samsung Vibrant and was familiar with using it's ODIN tool that would allow you to return to 100% stock on your phone for everything except hard bricking the phone.
I was wondering if there is any tool like this for the EVO 3D. I know there are the RUU files which you can place on your SD card for flashing over, but I am on HBOOT 1.5 with the HTC Dev Unlock method so I have not yet found an RUU that I can flash back to 100% stock with.
If there is any information, I would surely appreciate it. I have spent the last 3 hours searching 3 different android forums as well as google for a way to do this either with or without a special tool like this. Even if someone knows of an RUU that I can flash back to stock with on HBOOT 1.5.

RUU is to HTC as Odin is to Samsung (for the most part!).
RUU is the correct method. RUU stands for ROM Update Utility. The RUU .exe file can be run from Windows (just like Odin) and connects to the device, sends over the payload (rom.zip/PG86IMG.zip) and allows it to flash all partitions with stock images.
Alternate Method: Extract the payload from the RUU .exe (rom.zip/PG86IMG.zip) push to root of sdcard, boot into bootloader and let the bootloader apply the payload.
In the end, both do the same thing, just start off slightly different.
For the Sprint EVO 3D RUU files - http://goo-inside.me/shooter/ruu
*might* also have the GSM RUU files under shooterru
Thanks a bunch for the info! I really appreciate it. +thanks
im having problems trying to brick my evo 3d so i can downgrade using toolkit, ok im on hboot 1.5/2.17 and when i put the 2.17 pg86zip on my sdcard it dosent give me the option to update and yes i change the name to PG86IMG.zip any on ideas what im doing wrong by the way this is a brand new phone i got from sprint today
When you go into bootloader does it search for the PG86IMG file?
You need the right image, i did the same thing and it read the zip file then went back to bootloader without an option to update. You just need the official update zip from sprint use this one found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21593454&postcount=564
My phone is still S-ON and I am trying to figure out the best way to update my Amaze (T-Mobile) which has the leaked ICS build on it.
I know one option (from the Amaze Bible) is to S-OFF, install stock GB and then update via OTA. But before I did that I was wondering if I put the OTA ICS file on my SD and try to flash it (S-ON), would that work or mess it up? The OTA version I was planning to use is from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617644).

Use this leak: http://d-h.st/z70
It's the same as the official file, you can't use the method in the bible since you have s-on, if you checked the requirements, in order to downgrade to GB you'll need to be s-off.

Thanks I'll give that a shot, hopefully all goes as smoothly! BTW I did check the requirements, that's why I said the Bible would require me to S-OFF.

Lol I'm sorry, didn't quite see that. Do remember to rename that file to PH85IMG, place it on your sd card and reboot into bootloader to flash it since it's not flashable via recovery, only hboot.
I honestly hate to post and will usually spend days reading existing posts as normaly the info I need has already been posted, but this time round I'm honestly spinning my wheels a bit.
Phone: Rogers HTC Evo 3D running original Rogers ROM.
Android: 2.3.4
HTC Sense: 3.0
Baseband: 10.53.9020.00U
Radio: 10.13.9020.08_2M
Hboot: 1.49.1107
Modifications
Revolutionary CWM 4.0.1.4
Superuser 3.0.7
Revolutionary S-Off
All I want to do is install the official Rogers OTA ICS update (which my phone is showing as available). I believe I need to disable S-OFF, unroot and restore the stock recovery loader before the OTA update will install.
I'm looking for the easiest way to go about this. There is so much info out there and majority being CDMA. A push in the right direction would be much appreciated.
In another thread, in the Q&A, i pointed towards a download. Let me try and find it....
Anyways.... I downloaded the EXE, they say to put it in a zip, and let it run from Hboot. I executed the EXE file directly from windows, and downgraded to .2, updated the phone to .3, and then to 4.0. I lost my root, but i still have my S-off and my Recovery does not work in Hboot (used to be CWM, i guess it got overwritten)
My next step is do get CWM back on and flash SuperUser to root my phone again. There's a few things in ICS, that i don't like. If you hear how to do this, or find a thread on it, let me know. Ive been searching for 2 days now and cant find anything.
EDIT: Here's the link
http://file.anzhuo.cn/data/attachme...00_10.13.9020.08_2M_release_203803_signed.exe
what about the kingcobra ICS? Why not stick with that then this?
I've used modded roms in the past. Honestly they were always more headache then they were worth for me. Features not working etc etc.
I am running an old MYN Warm rom, have hboot 1.04 and would like to get to current version on the Evo 3d. I am s-off and I think i rooted on the revolutionary method.
Is there a flashable rom to get me to the last available rom on the 3D? I am putting it on ebay and need to get it on stock I think.
thanks

It's up to you how you want to sell it. There is an option for saying your phone is rooted when you make the listing so you can leave it as-is, or if you'd rather sell it unrooted and locked, you can run an RUU.exe to get it to factory specs.
If you want it completely stock and on the latest OTA, go here: http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Shooter
If you have sprint, download the file labeled: RUU_Shooter_ICS_35_S_Sprint_WWE_2.89.651.2_Radio_1.09.00.0706__NV_NV_SPCS_1.43_release_271101_signed.exe
If you have a GSM phone, I'm not sure what the latest release is. If you're on GSM, do NOT run that RUU on your phone or you'll be left with a brick.

How do I install an exe file. I tried a zip file of the same rom but it would only show that it updated but nothing really happened. I am on sprint.
thanks
You can find a working link to latest sprint 2.89 Ruu in my HTC Unlock guide (see signature for links & details), Football pulled the Ruu thread apparently.
Just put the phone into "fastboot USB" mode, connect to pc and run the Ruu.exe from Windows OS. It will update firmware, radio, hboot, etc and retain s-Off.
Hopefully u never ran any of the leaked Virgin Mobile firmware. That's a whole separate problem that can't be fixed with just the Ruu.
