Hi
My live tile for HTC Hub is not working (not updating temperature).
Any ideas how to solve this ?
I've tried also to download Weather Channel app from marketplace but it gives me an error on first time setup (unhandled error)
Thank's a lot
This is a known problem in pre-Mango versions. As soon as you receive the Mango update, this problem will go away.
I'm running mango 7220.68 on a mozart, with htc hub ver. 1.9. and the live tile won't update anymore... it worked after upgrading to mango though, so it seems to be a recent problem... uninstalling, resetting, and installing the app back does not help... any ideas anybody please?
Same issue. With 7720. I've actually reset and updated from 7004 (the "Endpoints" issue is a well-known issue before Mango). Funny thing is if I tap and hold as if I were to drag and change the start page layout, the HTC live tile would show the updated information, but as soon as I tap in any blank space to accept, it revert back to show the stuck tile. This is with Hub 1.9 from Marketplace. I can't get the HTC Hub 2.0 live tile to function at all (I haven't done much research into it as of yet).
Then it is a problem with the HTC app. I guess they will release a new version using the latest SDK soon.
I have HTC Hub v.2.3 and still not working on my Omnia 7 ? Any hints how to get it working ?

Hi everyone, first and foremost, thank you to everyone who takes the time out to compile all these great resources.
I upgraded using PPCKitchen- and It was a piece of cake. There are only two small issues I seem to be running into right now.
Issue 1: When I go into Settings>Phone and hit the drop-down menu to select a ring tone, its is completely empty. I checked the Windows>Rings folder and it has everything in there. I've tried searching to find an answer but I'm coming up empty right now.
Issue 2: Are there some themes that are incompatible with HTC Home? Sometimes if I change a theme, HTC home disappears and then I can't re-enter the Today Settings without rebooting. I'm guessing that some themes are not compatible and lock up the today settings if I have home enabled.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I actually just realized a third small issue...
I can't enter the HTC Home Customizer...Comes up with the following error message...
"The file 'homecust' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or resotring this file."
I did try reinstalling but it didn't help.
thanks again all.
just as a resource if everybody ever is searching for this same issue...
I figured everything out...
1) Ringer issue: I didn't include Windows Media player when I made my rom- I had to reflash with that included, and that fixed that...
2) Theme issue was related to using themes that were not compatible with HTC Home.
3) Home Customizer wouldn't open because netframework was not installed.
Everything works just fine now.

Thanks for putting up your solutions. Stinks when people don't do that. I had the same #3 problem when I upgraded to dcd 3.0.1. All I did for that was just click the same link (Home Customizer) again and it went through the second time without me having to change anything.
I just released a new version of my PhoneLog application, it's a simple call log application that logs phone calls (missed and placed) to your calendar w/ duration of the call.

Features:
- log missed calls to calendar
- log placed calls to calendar
- log incoming sms messages
Change Log:
v1.7 (Mar 18, 2009)
- added more stability to the background service
- background service uses fewer resources while running
- added option to flag calendar entries as private
v1.6.5 (Mar 16, 2009)
- fixed problem with the service not starting / stoping properly (never ending hourglass)
- fixed problem with sms message interceptor not forwarding messages to default messaging client (you may have to clean up registry w/ Clean Rules option located on the menu)
- added option to mark calendar entries as free, busy, etc.
- added option to the smartphone edition to use system time instead of network time
- added support for localization so you can change the text that appears on the calendar (see my web site for tutorial on how to do this)
v1.6.1 (Mar 12, 2009)
- fixed installer for non-English devices
- added more details to the calendar entry (call duration)
- created version for smartphone devices
v1.5 (Mar 09, 2009)

Do you know about this one (maniac's smartjournal)?
http://maniac.fschreiner.de/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=7&Itemid=25
It is not onboard, keeps your calendar clean and you have it in Outlook still (as part of the journal).

Looks interesting, but requires a desktop app to sync to the Outlook journal. I'm trying to setup something I can sync to my Google Calendar, but in way that'll keep my appointments and what not separate from the phone calls.....but so far the best I've gotten to work is assign calendar categories and using that info to filter the calendar.
odd i'm getting an unsuccessful install message when tryin to install this on my WIZARD with the last .net framework installed running winmo 6.1
Interesting idea.. i'd like to use such a thing as i need a lot of specific calls to be logged as appointments
i got it working i guess it didn't download all of the file
this is a pretty nice program thanks

how did you get your working, i still cant get mine
i redownloaded the program and then installed it seemed to work phone after that
I installed it and it seemed to be working fine...
Unfortunately once I restarted my ppc - it apparently hanged and I couldn't get to home screen! I de-installed it and ppc restarted ok. (well, I had to remove one file from the startup folder by hand!).
I'm not sure if this could be a compatibility issue with other tools installed but I would really love to see this issue resolved as this functionality seems very interesting, indeed.
Thanks.
Maybe a problem with non-English PPCs:
The startmenu shortcut was placed into \windows\startmenü\programme\programs\phonelog.ink
It should be only \windows\startmenü\programme\phonelog.ink
I use a german device.
edit: Can you change this into a service? Currently the options windows is running all the time and we have to remove it manually from the taskmanagers. Also in low memory situations a service will not be shut down by windows mobile.
oh i didn't think this was a service but death confirmed that it is a service
After looking into the windows starup: This IS a service.
The application runs as a service, but is launched by a shortcut in the startup folder.

What kind of device/rom are you running? I've personally use a Touch Diamond, but have tested it on a Sprint Touch Pro and have seen it prevent TF3D from launching properly. I have no clue what is going on but a quick soft reset fixed the problem. I have noticed that when you start/stop the service from the configuration GUI that it sometimes shows a never ending hourglass that will only go away if you launch another application....almost like the service is getting focus and getting caught in a loop, so I wonder if that is what causes TF3D to fail to launch...like it's waiting for the service exe to finish executing before allowing TF3D to load.
rrife, I've got an ASUS P552w (winmo 6.1 pro - Portuguese) and I'm running ThrottleLauncher 0.9.7. I had exactly the same behaviour you described: when I installed it showed a never ending hourglass that only went away when I launched another application. With the soft reset it never allowed TL to load. So I went to start menu and deinstalled it.
Could it have something to do with the startmenu placement as referred by LordDeath, since I have a Portuguese rom?
Thanks

Yeah I've gotten the never ending hourglass a couple times as well. I think it's how I'm launching the service exe, for some reason it's getting focus and not releasing it until you manually give focus to another application. It's not really a problem, just annoying. I did fix the installer so it'll work with non-English devices.
Thanks, rrife. I'll give it a try and feedback the results afterwards.
I did another re-install. I run PhoneLog GUI and hit start - it shows the never ending hourglass that only goes away when I launch another application. I select run on startup and soft reset. Again I can't get TL to load. I have to go to programs, run PhoneLog GUI and hit stop. This way TL now is able to load.
Any ideas!?! Thanks.
EDIT: I deinstalled again and I still get the error message (after softreset) from PhoneLogService.exe saying that it is not possible to open file 'PhoneLogService'.
Looks great ... trying now...
Would next version be able to change text for "PHONE CALL" which apears in the calendar in the end? I would like to change it to my language though.
Thank you

Sorry, guess I didn't think too much about non-English speaking people. I'll add some registry settings in the next release so you can change the text that is used on the calendar.
Hi All,
the weather widget keeps crashing on my phone, when i browse to the page with it the up/down arrows don't show how many pages I have i.e 1/4.
if I press the app the full program comes up working no problem, then if I back out of it the widget works normally - however if I boot the phone up and I haven't started the full app, i just want to use the widget - if I try and scroll up or down to view different cities I get:
The application HTC Sense
(process com.htc.launcher) has
stopped unexpectedly. Please
try again.
Then sense crashes and I have to wait for it to load again...
im using the TW 2.1 rom on an Orange branded HTC. This problem only started happening in the last couple of days, I upgraded to the UK unbranded rom and a new radio before I discovered this issue, as soon as I realised I used nandroid to go back, did a full recovery mode wipe plus wipe before doing so, but I still have the same problem!
Any help would be much appreciated.
Ran into a recent problem. Not sure if it was related to the recent install of Skype or not..
But within the last 2 days all my live tiles stopped updating. Even the battery info app no longer shows correct info on the lockscreen and has to be refreshed manually along with a handful of other apps. The apps that stopped updating are:
- Fuse
- Amazing Weather
- LinkedIn (counter notifications)
- WPCentral
- My Stocks
I've tried soft resets, re-pinning apps, disabling/enabling live tile in app settings, turning on/off background tasks and re-installing the app as well.
So far no luck. Not sure if anyone else has had this issue but I'm looking for any suggestions. I'd prefer to NOT do a hard reset.
Have you disabled background processing for those apps?
I have. No changes. Noticed this morning a couple seem to be working but not all. Is there some kind of service on MS' end that can disrupt live tiles from working temporarily?
I noticed that my weather channel app has stopped updating the tile unless I go into the app. Then when I back out, it updates the live tile. This EXACT same thing happened on my Focus...and is the EXACT reason my home screen consisted of all non-live tiles. Because none of them worked.
J.
Did you wind the spring up with the special key?
I guess you blocked them from running in the background, if you do then they can't update in the background.
it sounds stupid, but delete the web browser history & cookies, then do a 3 button soft reset and it'll magically start working.
Done it a few times now, read about it on the WPForum.
Perhaps the "Battery Saver" mode could affect this? I know it shouldn't but....
As a side note I don't think Windows has that 'Special' key, But it does have a latch.

Battery Saver mode on/off. No affect on the life of the tiles. (I am sticking with just the Weather Channel app for testing)
This was one reason I got rid of the Lumia 900. I think this is a windows phone issue, not a Lumia hardware issue.

Not a deal breaker for me at this point. I'm liking too many other things about the phone and the WP8 interface. I am going to pursue this further and see what I can discover about this particular issue. I will of course post and significant info.
Lumia 900...WP7 or WP8?
For me this issue is with my Nokia phone as I switched from a HTC 8X to a lumia 920 and somethe live tiles that worked for 8X don't work for the Lumia 920.
3 App examples currently on my 920.
Hot7Deals - Live tile works (sometimes it doesn't but if I got in and back out of the app it seems to fix it).
Facebook - Same as Hot7Deals app.
WeatherFlow - Live tile does not work at all but it worked fine on the HTC 8X

I bought my girlfriend the 8X, as the Lumia was too large for her hands, and I noticed this morning that some of her live tiles were doing the same thing. I'm still a novice with this OS so figuring this out is slow. But...I WILL PREVAIL!!!!
or not.
Thought I would post here rather than a new thread. Having exactly the same problems, currently I have the following live tiles:
Photos, Facebook, BBC News, ITN news, gMaps Pro, Flixter, WPC, World of Red Bull, Amazing Weather, \XE currency, Wikipedia.. as far as I am aware only photos update...
I checked the 'background tasks' and all are allowed. WPC is the only one with any decent debug info, which says 'Network Error'. I have turned off data recently (but wireless is permanently on), however some of these tiles have not updated since I first turned on the phone (and I only turned off data last week)...
Any ideas?

I did a three button reset and WPC & Amazing Weather started updating.. Wikipedia says the agent is working, but the tile hasn't updated...
I have this problem for my original Lumia 920 and its replacement. When I was using the original one, I thought the apps were no good so their Live Tiles didn't work. The replacement was working perfectly and out of a sudden the Live Tiles and LockScreen Photos stop updating. I am not able to pin point whether other app updates affected this. I tried everything that people suggested (unpin/pin, block/unblock background task, power off/on, soft reset, uninstall/install affected apps) except Hard Reset, still no good.
This Dead Tiles problem is popping up in many different forums now.
IS your internet account limited or unlimited. There is a possibility you have reached your data limit and they have cut you off till your next billing cycle.
If that is not it then just uninstall everything you have installed or do a factory wipe. either way. The install one app a week and see which is causing your tiles to stop. Personally unless necessary I turn the live tiles feature off as it consumes. bandwidth, and battery.

I have unlimited data from AT&T, so I assume this is not the problem. Tried uninstall/reinstall the affected apps one at a time, no good. Hard Reset is something I really don't want to do unless this can permanently correct the Dead Tiles problem. Because when I return my 1st 920, I did a Hard Reset to wipe out all my data and info. The "wheel" just kept turning until the battery went dead.
Windows Phone without Live Tiles loses the attractiveness of Windows Phone OS.
I have a Nokia 920 and the same thing is happening. It 1st started 2 months ago and I tried all of the above. Mysteriously , They began working.
3 weeks ago the live Tiles stopped updating again . Today , June 18 ,2013 the tiles are still stagnant. I BELIEVEI IT'S A MICROSOFT ISSUE .With so many other phones out there , it is upsetting 'but I too enjoy the other features of my Nokia 920 WP8 too much to take it back . I will be paying attention to this post.
BTW I use HD Amazing Weather Several different Battery Apps. Chromos Calendar, Etc. Been with WP since 2000 , and I'm studying for my Software Engineering Degree. I stated this to inform my fellow readers that I am familiar with what a good working phone should be
The live tiles have a 12 day time-out (according to my data usage app), if you have not run the actual application in 12 days it will stop updating.
This happens frequently with applications where I only view the live tiles or lockscreen and rarely if ever open the application (e.g. weather apps, usage apps, etc.)... if you notice one of your live tiles isn't updating just open the app and close it again (perhaps hitting refresh while it is open) and the live tiles should start working again.
I have also noticed that certain applications such as Skype don't always automatically login after boot / reboot and I have to run the app to get them to sign in after startup.
I am on CM Super Lite ROM. For the first few weeks the weather data on the lock screen worked perfectly. Then it stopped getting data. It just says "No data - Tap to refresh". When I tap on the icon, it tries to download data but fails and gives the same message.
I tried with automatic location setting and manual location setting and both fails. All other data connections work. So I know that it is not a data connection problem.
Adding to the mystery, I have installed a home screen widget called advanced clock widget. It has a weather feature as well and it also cannot get any data.
I suspect that both software are trying to get their data from the same resource (Yahoo Weather?) and somehow my phone refuses to connect to that resource. How is this possible? Is there anything I can do to investigate this further? I can try a reflash but I am willing to try alternatives first.
My weather widget quit working too. I'm on epinter 10.0
The same problem on HTC HD2 JB 4.1.2.

My wife's HTC HD2 weather widget stopped working too. I think this is becoming a cronic problem. I am surprised that this is not widely discussed.
Same on my Samsung i9001 with EHNDROIX II ROM (CM10.1) - I think that Yahoo Weather is the common denominator here and that problem is there...
has anyone been able to get a fix for this issue. I think it has to do with yahoo weather also as mine stopped working a week ago. Is there any way a person can use a different source to get the weather updated? Like instead of yahoo weather can we use like google weather or something else within our lock screen?
This is a known issue. Apparently Yahoo decided to change their weather API.

There's already a fix for those on CM10.1:

But for those of us on CM10 there is no fix yet (as far as I know).
