Wait, it says unlocked? That's good right? Does the phone work? What are you doing when you get the error?
I can't get into recovery, fastboot or anything to further complete the process.

I get to step 12 on the htcdev website and everything looks normal yet nothing on my phone changes (no screen asking me if i want to unlock the bootloader). I just got this refurb today and am desperately in need of titanium backup to restore some important info. Has anyone seen or heard of this problem? I would love to get suggestions on a possible solution.
THanks for your help!

Short Answer: off the top of my head, is the device updated to the latest hboot version? Probably will need the latest hboot version to complete the htc unlock process.
Long Answer: I don't have the HTC steps for their specific unlock method memorized. In order to help you, I logged into their web site, created an account and went as far through the steps as possible without completing their method as I'm already unlocked through the revolutionary method.
Step 10 is the step where the hash code from the device is submitted to HTC. I'm not able to see any step beyond Step 10.
The more information you're able to share, the wider group of individuals you'll allow to provide solutions. If you're able to share with us the specifics of Step 11 and Step 12, we might be able to provide more detailed help.
Keep us updated! Hope that helps!

Your white EVO came with 2.3.4 out of the box? Mine didn't. Shut down the phone, remove battery, then boot into bootloader by holding volume down and power. Once in bootloader tell me the bootloader version. If it is 1.40 like mine was you can use revolutionary. You guys are probably stuck at that step because you don't have the 1.50 hboot and probably have a lower hboot. If it is lower than 1.50 do the revolutionary method.

I just wanted to chime in and say for anyone having the issue of the HTC Dev root method not working for them on steps 12 or 13:
flash error due to too many links
flash failing
flash hanging on sending Unlock_code.bin
flash appearing to send successfully, but still no disclaimer screen appearing
All of these problems were solved for me after by updating my phone to 2.08.651.3 via HTC software update in the Android OS.
Thanks to dastin1015 and lchupacabras for the suggestion.
I just got a new 3d yesterday, it came with 2.08.651.2 and I got hung up on step 12 as mentioned, it looked like it flashed but I got no unlock screen on the phone. I updated my phone to .3 as mentioned by bleaktrotter and I'm having the same problem...currently downloading the .2 RUU....?

Did u check your hboot version? If u have 1.30 or 1.40 its been suggested to run the "revolutionary" method to get s-off.

Nope. You need to I.D. your phones Hboot version first.
- Hboot 1.30 or 1.40 : use the revolutionary.io Full S-Off Method (Official RUU updates will kill the exploit).
- Hboot 1.50 : Your stuck using the HTCdev.com unlock method (S-On, Unlocked bootloader, mostly rooted). I used Zedomax's Guide from HtcEvoHacks.com but had some issues that weren't due to Max's guide and had to run the RUU (Rom Update Utility).

Ok after 5 hours of trying to unlock my bootloader, all you have to do is install the 2.17 RUU.exe and then go into fastboot and unlock using the htc method.

First of all, what RUU are you using and what ver do you have know? It sounds to me that the ruu your using is attempting to downgrade the firmware.

If your CDMA you need to run the latest RUU 2.17 exe this has fixed the same issue you have had......
Phone doesn't do any other than sit in HBOOT when you apply the unlock code....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334473
Here is a link to the RUU
Make sure you use the right one failure to do so can screw your phone up.....
Hey, I'm going to make this short because I'm freaking out right now like the noob I am.
I was going through Closeone's downgrade S-OFF/Downgrade Bootloader tutorial and and relocked my phone. OK. I AM ON STOCK, I MADE A BACKUP AS SOON AS I UNLOCKED USING HTC DEV. That's what I restored before I relocked. But I'm still getting a security warning.
THE PROBLEM:
I cannot find the stock RUU for the Evo V 4G anywhere. I've checked here, VMROMs and Phandroid, nothing. They all lead to the same goo.manager link that says the file cannot be found.
PLEASE help, I'm stuck in bootloader and don't know what to do.
Thank you for your time...
OFFICIALLY FIXED... SORT OF
So I relocked using HTC Dev and from there attempted a reboot. It boots!.. up to the end of the animation, from there it stops. So unfortunate. Any ideas?
I cannot get to bootloader by any normal means (via commands or volume rockers).
SOLVED
With some help from LeslieAnn and a couple of other people over at VMroms.com I was able to boot again.

Hey guys , just pulled new evo 3d out of the box and tried to unlock it.
Everything as usual , pull the token data , sent to htc , got my unlock file and FAILED to flash it ... Check unlock token - failed .
I saw few same messages here for GSM version of evo, any solution for CDMA ?
Is it possible to downgrade 1.58 to 1.40 using semi brick procedure that was used to downgrde 1.50 ?
Im ready to throw it in a garbage, locked phone is a paperweight !!
Any hlp is appreciated

I've heard reports that the same method does work with this bootloader, you'll just need to use the RUU version of the rom that you're currently running, with that same bootloader.
But, once I get my device back I'll be able to test it more thoroughly. I've also heard that you need to temp-brick it two times, but I'm not sure why still...
Never-the-less, I plan on testing much more when I get my 3D back, like even a better more reliable method of bricking as well, so we'll see.
Thanks for input ! Im not shure i have enough knowledge to do this, hope a guru can do the trick for us lamers )
I've been restraining myself from posting this for a few days, while browsing and looking through threads trying to figure out my answers. Something is wrong within my device, something is corrupted. Phone keeps rebooting on phone calls, and my UI is trashed, its all zoomed out and looking crazy. Flashing different ROMs has not helped. I have taken under advisement to RUU. However, I just want to make sure there is nothing I need to do before RUU'ing to keep from screwing up the device. Here is my current status: the only things I have done to this device since I got it last may are root and unlock using moonshine. So I have had no OTAs that I know of. This is the RUU I have:
RUU_DLX_WL_JB_50_S_VERIZON_WWE_3.06.605.4_Radio_1.01.01.1112_NV_VZW_4.46_002_release_340974_signed_2
I just want to make sure I only need to run that, and don't need to flash anything else (such as hboot, etc)
Thanks.
UPDATE: I tried running the RUU. I got Error 158. I was watching, and I had the phone in fastboot already, and when the screen said Rebooting Bootloader, then Waiting for Bootloader..... I never saw the phone actually boot to bootloader again, it just stayed black. then the program kept running like the phone was responding, and eventually shot out Error 158. should I follow this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293919 and relock the bootloader and then RUU? and does anyone know if I will be able to unlock again after I do this?
UPDATE: This is my main question if anyone can help. I have the above RUU, and I got error 158. Since I used moonshine's method, I am under the impression I need to re-lock bootloader, and THEN RUU. However, can someone please tell me if I need a different hboot version or if I'm just fine to go ahead like this? my hboot is below. I ask this because last failed RUU, i had to re-install the ROM im using to boot the phone, and if I re-lock I dont want to be in a position where the RUU fails and I can't get into recovery to re-flash a ROM.
BTW : My hboot version is 1.33.4444

Manually boot the phone to the bootloader before you start and it will go. For whatever reason it doesn't do it itself so manually doing it will give you success.
