Im running stock 2.3.4, but I had this issue with custom ROMs too.
The only time my phone vibrates is for phone calls on silent.
I have it set to always vibrate, and in the messaging app I have vibration turned on.
I know this is a decently common issue, but any solution I've found won't work.

I'm running DAS BAMF 1.2.1
For some reason, when adjusting the sound profile from the home screen with the volume rocker to vibrate, the phone doesn't vibrate to confirm you're setting it to that.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I could have swore it did this in stock.
Anyone else?

Can't confirm that bug with Das Bamf, but yes, the stock OS and my debloat both will vibrate to confirm that you've reduced the ring volume down to the "vibrate" setting.
Are you sure you're not setting it to silent which comes before vibrate? Only thing I could think of to suggest because mine still vibrates when I set it to vibrate from the home screen using the volume rocker and I'm using BAMF also.

yeah make shure u dont stop before vibrate on silent
Well, my volume toggle is setup as vibrate-silent-(low-high). Like, the lowest setting.

Do you think a reflash of the most recent kernel or rom would fix this for me? Sounds like I'm the only one with this problem.

Ahh, just did a test receiving call on vibrate and it doesn't. Going to do a reboot then reflash.

Never mind. I just went into settings and unchecked then rechecked everything again and it now confirms vibrate.

I have vibration turned off in every possible setting there is but my phone still vibrates at random times for no good reason.
For instance, it vibrates during:
Boot up
Icon dragging
Wallpaper setting
Boot down
In settings I have set it to Vibrate:Never, and I've turned off haptic feedback.
Boot up and shutdown are phone related. There is no way(with a costum kernel maybe)
The rest is app related. Try awd launcher. There you can set that vibrate thing.

I have installed GoSMSpro but whenever i receive a text message the phone doesn't vibrate, the notification light however lights up and sound is heard if the phone is not in silent mode.
At the risk of sounding obvious have u got vibrate box checked in settings?

Hi,
I have a very annoying problem with my galaxy s 3. When I set it to silent mode, it only silents the ringtone. Everything else still has sounds on. For example mails and whatsapp sounds will not go on silent.
Vibrate works, but full silent mode doesnt work. I first noticed this when I changed my rom to wanamlite. Thought the problem was with the rom itself. But then decided to try vikingway rom. No change and I still have the same problem.
Can anybody help me?
Thank you.

Click the button that pops up when you click the volume buttons you can set all the volumes there.
There is some different sounds
Ringtones, notification, system, alarm, media and voice if I didn't miss something.
Silent mode only disable ringtones and notification, maybe some app is using media volume instead of notification.

Yes but silent mode wont even put my incoming message to silent. Very annoying. Any ideas how to fix this? Silent mode was working with original rom and with the first custom rom I flashed.

Hey guys,
I am running the latest stock NH5 update and using the stock messaging app. Is there a way to set it to vibrate when receiving a message when the phone is set to vibrate? I have looked all over the internet and all suggestions point to setting it to vibrate all the time or using a different app. I only want it to vibrate when the phone is in vibrate and I prefer to use the stock messaging app. Does anybody know how to achieve this?
Thanks.

There are the actual setting of the messenger app, which, I believe has a vibrate and a vibrate for unlooked at texts option. Mine vibrates when I have sound off, vibration on. Is the vibration working with other apps? Maybe it's not a software issue.
