Hey, My supplied headphones use to work great. am not sure whether or not ive pulled the wire's too far or somthing, but anyway. Only 1 speaker is working , and the other is Very Low... When i play music and keep the (button on the cable) pushed in. The music on the Low speaker becomes louder, but not as loud as what i should be.
Also , I use to be able to push the button, and it would pause / Play the music, now it just starts the track from the beggining, And when am in call i use to be able to hang up, but now it does nothing.
Does this sound like the phone or the headset?
thanks
Craig
Make sure headphone jack is fully home first .

Hi All
I have been told by o2 that the following is a feature:
When my XDA has an incoming call, with the headset plugged in, the 'ringing' only sounds from the headset instead of the speaker.
Is this a feature or a fault?
Comments gratefully received
I'd say bit of both.
I've had my headset plugged in and heard the ringtone through both the headset AND the unit itself, but perhaps there's a way of making it so that the headset is the only audio (perhaps plugging the jack in whilst on silent then turning it back up?).
I've definitely had the headset ring out whilst the jack is connected.
A
Feature or fault, that's a hard one to call!
I would say it working as designed, since the headset will always override the speaker in any fashion.
I've never heard of this. All the US units ring in BOTH if the headset is plugged in. Unfortunately, message notification and alarms sound only in the headset though.
Hi,
As far as I have found out the behavior is not consistent. My device sometimes only ring in the headset and sometimes ring both. I have found out if you plug in the headset and connect via USB cable to the PC it will always ring both in headset and speaker. This is true even after you have unplugged the USB. Seems to me some flag I set during USB connation that enables this... ?!
For notifications - this only works via the headset... for me at least.
I find this annoying - the SmartPhone works as it should in regards to this.
I run 4.00.05 baked at this site... keep up the good work !
I had this similiar feature/bug experience too.
My XDA rings both on the headset and its speaker. One day, at some point, I managed to put it into a strange state. I started playing an mp3 with the windows media player (WMP) without the handset, it played thru its speaker (that's correct). And then I plug in the headset, mp3 came out from only the headset (that's correct too).
After that, I pressed "stop" the mp3 in the WMP, and then "play" again, mp3 came out thru both the headset and its speaker.
I don't seem to be able to reproduce this "feature" anymore now. Well, of course, that's after a reboot a while later.
In fact, now I've got a question then. Does that mean the on/off of the speaker can be controlled in software? AFAIK, like the iPAQ, it's controlled in the hardware, that means if you plug in a headphone, the speaker of the unit will be off.
Does that mean the on/off of the speaker can be controlled in software?

Yes, evidenced by the phone behaviour. Most devices use a simple contact in the headset connector to disengage the speaker, but obviously not the PE.

I would rather ask it to be a user defined option. I believe the current setup (both ringing) came after noticing that you can simply forget your headset plugged in so you may miss some calls.
But in some situations (ex: meetings) I would like to keep the headset plugged in and get the rining only through it.
I am sure this may be an issue for some people. my car stereo has bluetooth that links with my phone and mutes the car stereo and turns on speaker phone when a call comes in. i like the fact that it mutes the stereo since i usually have it very loud, but my problem is i cant set it to default to the phone earpiece and not the speakerphone, even when i answer a call and press the button to keep it on the ear piece, it switches right back to the stereo a second later, i press it again and it stays on the phone. i have had this issue with all my other phones as well and it drives me nuts. is there anyone who can come up with a fix for this?
i appreciate any input anyone may have on this.....
thanks
It is not a problem with the phone, it is to do with bluetooth profiles as they are designed to communicate with TWO devices not THREE. I also use car stereo for playing my music. I do not get that many calls while driving so I never use my bt headphones.
Moved to proper forum.
sorry about posting in the wrong forum. I am only trying to get it to default to the handset when i pick up a call. i do not use it to play music, so i have no need for that to even be an option, i just want to be able to pick up a call on my phone, and have it stay on my phone while it uses the bt link to mute and un mute the stereo. i find the speakerphones in car stereos to be totally worthless for talking, but i find the mute feature very useful.
Hello Guys. Someone could help me? My touchpad (classicnerd) plays music in the speaker but in headphones no . I booted in webOS and it played fine. Anyone with is problem?
Thanks
I have the same problem
What are you trying to listen to and which build are you using? I just tested my headphones with Classicnerd-Butta-0.1.0-v2.1-Odex and it seems to be working here. I have system volume as well as Google Music volume coming through loud and clear.
Im trying to listen some regular MP3, and I have Classicnerd-Butta-0.1.0 installed. I installed google music as well. The sound plays fine in the speakers but in headphones it doesnt play at all.
If you reboot with the headphones plugged in, you should get sound in them. (When I did that, it was way too loud, so be a little careful.)
I also found that if I unplugged the headphones, the sound went correctly to the device speakers, but plugging the phones back in returned to the "no sound in phones" state.
This is a known problem. Hopefully it will be better in the public release.
I've flashed my T-959D (Telus) to SlimICS 4.2. Everything seems to work great (after I remapped the vol keys to reverse them back) except for bluetooth weirdness in my car.
The phone pairs correctly and I can make and take calls just as before, but at first glance it seems that while media audio was shown as connected, there was no sound when I played an mp3. So I tried a headphone cable into the aux jack of my car stereo and still nothing. However, when I pulled out the headphone jack from my phone, suddenly I had media playing over bluetooth... but only for about 2 seconds when the phone then mysteriously muted itself. I can repeat this process at will. No sound until I pull out the headphone jack... and then only for a second or two, then the phone mutes.
I'm assuming this must be some sort of setting or mixup with regards to the headset removal action. But I'm not sure where to check on this. Is there some sort of setting for it that might be screwed up? I really rely on my bluetooth audio for podcasts and music playback. I might have to go back to PassionICS since it worked there. But so far I like SlimICS a whole lot better and would rather get this working if I can.
Update - after installing the HeadphoneStatus app from the market, it appears that the phone thinks the headphones are plugged in when they are not. Not sure that this is a hardware issue since the thing worked perfectly this morning before flashing the rom.
So i was listening to some music at work today and got a phonecall. I have headphones without a mic and pulled out the headphones and answered the call. When i hung up - the music started BLASTING through the speaker phone!!!!!!
in my galaxy s3, when you pull the headphones out - it pauses/stops w/e music is playing until you push play again.
How do i make the G3 do the same?
Also, how do i take a screenshot?

Not sure about the music thing and it is a good question because I am coming from a S3 also but there are two ways to take a SS I think, one just push in the power and volume down buttons at the same time. The other way, well I'm not sure. Sorry. :silly:

To make the music pause will depend on your player.
It will be in the settings.
I know PowerAmp does it. I don't use the factory application.
As soon as I pull out my headphones, the music stops with both the stock music app and google play.
It's because you pulled the headphones out after the phone started ringing that it did that. The dialer will resume the music for you. The music app wasn't in control at the point you pulled the headphones out.
