So I got an early upgrade of 6 months ahead of my original upgrade a week later, the phone line that i got still says that i have an open upgrade, if there any reason why ? Billing cycle ends in 9 more days btw
If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d
That's weird, but I'd take advantage of it. Buy another phone and sell it or use it on another line.

I had the same situation. DON'T SAY ANYTHING!! I let it go through one billing cycle to make sure it was still there and it was. I was able to use it again and they never caught it
more then likely, whoever set ur phone up at the sprint store did an ESN swap and not an upgrade.. i used to work for a sprint retailer and i've seen associates do this so many times..
if u don't see an $18 upgrade fee on ur next bill then thats exactly what happened, and i wouldn't worry about it at all...
yeah, leave it be and enjoy an error in your favor.
i've got just the opposite and have to go back to re-enable my upgradabilty since they forgot to turn it back on after returning my evo 3d. but i may end up getting it again since sprint has fixed the data problem in my area and is now better than it used to be.
Thanks for the replys guys , it looks like I will have an upgrade for the nexus phone if it comes out on sprint lol
If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d
I would snag the GS2 whenever it drops lol

Every rep knows not to do that or their employer would be out the cost of the phone. You must have worked with some real idiots.
What happens is, OP might have accepted some type of deal or credit...
Then they go in and manually change the eligibility... OP, check your contract... What does it say for term? 24 Months? or NC? I suggest using it before you lose it. They do this thing called a audit you know...
Well this is what I see in my account so I think I won't be able to use

You're a SERO/Everything Plus Plan customer aren't you? On the store's end, they did the upgrade correctly. Now when you go somewhere else to use the "second" upgrade (not a corporate store, go to Best Buy or something), they're going to notice that your end date is 2 years from now even though you're upgrade eligible. 95% chance they give you the upgrade anyways because it's money for them. The people at the first store are going to get their report back saying that the upgrade actually DIDN'T go through. So they call up their own support line, which gives them credit for the error, but then the second store you went to gets screwed out of their commision. So for example, if you used your second upgrade towards a Nexus S 4G, they just sold you a $550 phone for $150. Get it? Don't ask how I know. I never did this, but I'm friends with a manager at a Sprint indirect store who explained it to me. He said the second store you go to won't come after you because Sprint has a "customer is always right" policy (don't quote me on that). He said he's done it for the same customer 3 times and nothing has happened.

its an error in the system they use, think back, did the rep say anything unusual
like, hmm it didn't apply your upgrade price, or bare with me I've had a system error
happens all the time, now the rep should have gone back into your account and manually applied the upgrade, but more then likely didn't
it's an in house violation on the rep, and the corp system IT guys are trying to fix it
I wont go into anymore detail as to what it is or how I know

You can use it but you'll get the rep in trouble if you do. They would have to pay the difference of the retail price of the phone and the price they gave it to you for. So if it's a NS4G and they sold it to you for $150, $550 - $150 = $400 out of their own pocket, plus a slap on the wrist.

wow.. amazing how u can speak for what "every" rep knows about.. are u in the minds of every rep??? I used to to do training sessions in different areas for employees, and u would be surprised at what "every" rep knows and don't know..
ie: employee does esn swap and not an upgrade.. employee still gets paid commission on following check.. 3-6 months later store gets hit with price of phone, not employee.. depending on how retailer operates, employee losses that commission in 3-6 months, not pay for the phone..
like i said.. i worked for sprint retailer for years and have seen this NUMEROUS times..
retailer is to corporate, like night is to day.. complete opposites..

I've realized in the past few days that Sprint's customer service still hasn't improved in the past few years and actually has gone downhill. Even Executive Services was unable to resolve my issues, and refuses to replace my phone since they are saying it's my phone and NOT the network, when the issue is apparent with several different phones.
Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there. Your contracts are changing and I found this on SD. Credit to Chrscott22. The changes take place 9/9/11 and you have till 10/9/11 to cancel, but people have already started canceling.
"Administrative Charge Increase &Terms & Conditions Changes for Consumers
Effective 9/9/11, the Administrative Chargewill increase to $1.50 per line for customersthat receive the charge. For details, visitsprint.com/taxesandfees. In addition, theSprint consumer Terms (Ts&Cs) are changing. Please review them carefully at your local Sprint store or sprint.com/termsandconditions"
and per their terms and conditions:
"When You Don't Have To Pay An Early Termination Fee
You aren't responsible for paying an Early Termination Fee when terminating Services: (a) provided on a month-to-month basis; (b) consistent with our published trial period return policy; or (c) in response to a materially adverse change we make to the Agreement as described directly below.
Our Right To Change The Agreement & Your Related Rights
We may change any part of the Agreement at any time, including, but not limited to, rates, charges, how we calculate charges, or your terms of Service. We will provide you notice of material changes—and may provide you notice of non-material changes—in a manner consistent with this Agreement (see "Providing Notice To Each Other Under The Agreement" section). If a change we make to the Agreement is material and has a material adverse effect on Services under your Term Commitment, you may terminate each line of Service materially affected without incurring an Early Termination Fee only if you: (a) call us within 30 days after the effective date of the change; and (b) specifically advise us that you wish to cancel Services because of a material change to the Agreement that we have made. If you do not cancel Service within 30 days of the change, an Early Termination Fee will apply if you terminate Services before the end of any applicable Term Commitment. "
If you are tired of their service, have ****ty service, or just want to get out, call in and cancel. If you love them, please don't come here bashing others. I know Sprint is good in some areas, and after all they are the cheapest.

Yeah...I mean, the 2G signal is nearly everywhere and rock solid. The 3G signal is 'strong enough' in most places...the 4G is an embarrassing joke. I get it outside, barely...3/4 of a mile away from the tower, that is on a hill. I have never got 4G indoors. But I'm fine with that, I rarely need to download something big enough for me to say "gee I wish I had 4G" and there isn't wifi available at the same time. My 3G is usually nearly as fast as wifi for page loads and such (leaked eng radio FTW), but I think that also speaks poorly of the wifi performance of my E3D....
I always stay on the lookout. I would love the strength of VZW's signal....though I hang out on their towers (when necessary) via an alternate PRL and the speed doesn't really seem any faster unless it's a 'peak usage' time of day when Sprint is clogged....but even then it's not that much faster. I hear ATT/Tmobile have pretty fantastic 3G (3.5G, 3G+, kinda-4G) speeds, but, T-mobile doesn't have fantastic coverage and I doubt they have a free-roaming agreement with ATT which also doesn't have even a Sprint level of coverage...so that rules out T-mobile--not to mention they will cease to exist soon...which brings us to ATT and their complete ass-rape based service plans.
To sum it up I would like VZW's coverage, but it isn't that much better than Sprint and the data speeds are roughly on par. I would like T-mobile for the speed but the coverage is lacking and t-mobile won't exist soon....and ATT is ruled out automatically. (not to mention I have ATT for DSL and let me tell you--Worst. customer. service. ever...I somehow got shut off for paying my bill in full, early and it took hours to resolve)
and taking cost into consideration? Sprint wins, by far.
EDIT: Also, tiered data plans with unreasonably low caps? Pfffffft.

Data sucks donkey nuts where I live also, but like you said. The cost is something I can deal with too.
Yes you guys are right. The cost is what kept me with Sprint for so long (actually Sprint was very reliable in my area prior to May), but the towers around my home and work area, which is basically the same area, is screwed. It's been like this since May and they haven't done anything about it. They just make new tickets, tell me nothing is guaranteed and now blame it on my phone. They won't even listen to reason. Do you think an LG Optimus, 2 EVO4Gs, an EVO Shift and the EVO 3D all would have the same problem? Logically that's impossible, yet they tell me it's possible and blame it on my phones and the store is like "i see no problems" and wont replace. I've spent DAYS talking to these guys. Now they're telling me to go to HTC.
So I came across this information and now am switching to Verizon. True I'll have capped data, but only I use more than 2GBs (which is now impossible at 10kbps with Sprint even if I left it on all day and night). The rest of my family plan used like 400MB or 500MB. My problem is reliability. It's unnerving when not only are my friends enjoying true 4G speeds on Verizon, but my own work iPhone is leagues faster in the data department.
So anyways, I'm just passing along this info. A lot of people on SD have successfully ended their contracts with this.

Damn I've been looking for something like this for a long while. I thought I was gonna end up paying the ETF for all of my lines, but this sounds like I'm out for free and I'll save around $700. What number did you call to get this done?
I'm definitely gone with Sprint's 'later' network, but I still love the EVO 3D. Such a beast of a phone on such a half-assed network. I hope I can find a good replacement.

Fine, but this forum is for users of a phone that Sprint carries, not Verizon. Both of you have had XDA accounts for less than a month, and ALL of your posts have been less than helpful to anyone, as evidenced here:

Recommendation:
Why not turn off your phones, let go of each other, and drive to the closest Verizon outlet. Get whatever phone it is your gonna get. Then, when you guys get back, providing you still have any energy left over, you can find a forum that's NOT the Evo 3D forum, and both live happily ever after.

So would you get to keep your Evo?
So let me make sure I have this straigt I call sprint say I want to cancel because of the material changes to our agreement, then I'm out ETF free right. Can anyone confirm this works?
Now how would this work if I went to Virgin or boost right after what would I have to do to make sure I keep my number?
I have nothing against sprint as far as postpaid carriers go, but the prepaids would cut my monthly bill in half which is a big deal.

You should just get a Virgin or Boost phone before dropping your postpaid contract and take it for a test run. I think you "may just find" that the cut cost isn't really worth the service (customer or phone/data) or lack there of.
If it wasn't for my discount and the EVO 3D, I'd have an easier time leaving. I get **** reception at home and work. Sadly, Sprint is the best price.

I like Sprint, but like a lot of others I switched for the price. But where I live and work I get nothing for signal. At work i can't make calls or text, let alone use data. At home.voice functions are good but again, no data. If I didn't have great WiFi I would have left in the first couple of days. I've called Sprint and they have told me that I have mediocre service so its not the phone. I actually had an emergency at work where the phone lines went down and couldn't make a phone call to 911. Luckily some of my employees have Verizon and we were able to call and save a man's life. So i think I'm going to get out and go back to Verizon. I know it costs more, but piece of mind is worth it to me.
So my question is, how would I keep my number if i switched? I've had this number for 10 years and don't want to lose it.
I have been with Sprint since 2004 and I agree that there are multiple issues. The only reason I have stayed on is the contract pricing.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Well here's my story for whoever wants to listen. I started with sprint not that long ago, with the Evo 4G. I came from T-mobile, and from the minute I started with sprint I really loved the service. I add my father to my plan, so i have a family plan for two, coming out to about 170 dollars when all is said and done. I started wondering if I really needed to be paying that much, because on my family plan we use about 200 out of the 1500 minutes we get every month, and we don't have 4G in the area. I do some research and find that i can do the 700 minute plan on AT&T with 2gb of data each for about 145 a month. That would equate to about 300 dollars a year, something worth considering.
SO, I call up sprint, I have a nice tone, and ask them if I am able to lower my bill in any way. They are obviously making money off of my minutes, and whether or not they may credit my account because I can save 25 dollars with no consequences just by switching companies. Lower support tells me there is nothing they can do, and I tell them that I am going to cancel the lines. "One second please," "let me transfer you to our retentions department." Ok I feel like maybe retentions will do something for me. So after talking to the first level of retentions, she tells me that there is nothing they can do and that if I would like to lower my bill I can switch to a feature phone. What??? So I tell them that that is simply not an option, and that I'll just cancel the lines. "One moment please, have a talk with my supervisor." The supervisor again tells me to switch to a feature phone, and I say that that is not an option and that I would just like to cancel the lines. She rudely responds, "Alright is that all I can help you with today?" I questionally respond "I guess so," and she hangs up the phone.
Now I'm pissed, I have to do this all over again, and I end up transfering my lines to AT&T and saving the money. I had spoken with one more sprint associate, and asked if they would rather lose both my contracts then to credit my account for 20 dollars a month, and was basically told yes.
I am pleased on AT&T and the GS2 is a great phone. AT&T actually made a mistake setting up my account, and credited my first month with 30 dollars and 100 free minutes.
This 20 billion dollar iPhone deal seems to have Sprint by the balls, sorry just felt like venting.
You know, I usually never say this, but I have to:
Cool story, bro.
Seriously, none of us care what you do. It's your life, do what you want. Sometimes I just wish XDA would open up a complaint forum for people to vent in.
This wasn't me trying to tell you guys about "what I'm doing." It was me telling you about an unsatisfactory experience with multiple sprint employees and their inability to keep a customer when it is more or less known fact that people get credits to their accounts.
Now I know that you probably got butt hurt when you saw the GS2 in these forums, and that was probably responsible for your douche bag response. I loved sprint, they had awesome customer service. Had to make a decision with my wallet this time and the sprint employees didn't exactly help in this situation.
Your unsatisfactory experience is that they didn't give you free money, that's all. I mean, it sucks that you got a rude CS associate, but still, the jist is you wanted free money for no reason. You were basically blackmailing them by saying "give me free money or I'm switching".
And no, I didn't get "butt hurt" by seeing GS2. I got annoyed because you just want something for free.
You must either be trolling me or just don't know much about how companies work??? I did not just want free money. I expressed to them over and over again that I would like to stay with sprint. If I can pay less for the same amount of usage at another company, why would you not want to price match, unless it was going to cause you to lose money overall? They could take my 150$, or they could take nothing, and they chose nothing. Sorry if this offends you.

Nothing wrong with what the Sprint reps suggested, done or with the move you made. If your usage pattern fits the carrier, that's where you should be.

He was arguing his usage of few few minutes to lower the price since they were far below the talk time for that plan.
So where as Sprint caters to those who use more at low prices.
He needs a Plan that caters to users who use less, allotted less & pay less.
This was a case of the wrong carrier choice. AT&T would work out for people who use less, Sprint works well for people who use more.
Whats weird is my dad called sprint and we had the 3000 family plan in which they had no problem lowering it to the 1500 plan which saved us somewhere around $20-$30 a month. Not sure why there not willing to keep a customer because instead of making $1300+ a year off of you now they get none of that.
But just remember AT&T has the worst customer service supposidly.
I agree, Sprint currently has all or nothing plans. I think if they want to attract customers they have to have more options. especially in terms of their family plans. I don't like their one size fits all types of plans but it is what it is I guess.

+1 on this. I really don't know why that is. I use to have a family plan $40/month where I have unlimted data, sms, mms, and the other line was flip phones with just voice. There is no such plan anymore. All family plans now if their with data then all the phones have to have data. Doesnt make sense to me.
What you guys have been talking about is pretty much my point. If your competitors offer similar plans, why not do so yourself? 1500 minutes and unlimited data is not really necessary for a two person plan, yet that's their only option. Sorry for being unclear and sounding like I was complaining about not simply getting a discount, I guess sprint just wasn't a good fit for me, shame for them though because I was willing to stay if they had a competitive plan.
Phone Dog seems to have a nice video review of the EVO 4G LTE. Aaron really is becoming an excellent phone reviewer. I like the way he always goes through the apps and screens to show how the phone truly works rather than make opinionated reviews with out detailed video explanations to back what he says. HE really has nice things to say about battery life if anyone is interested. All I can say is damn.....this phone is really fast.

Troubled times needs a little inspiration to show that the trouble and wait is worth it or not. I see some people debating canceling their order with no other phone coming with in the next few weeks. Those people need inspiration to be patient! Did you hear that part where Aarons says the camera best the mighty iPhone, and calls this the best phone on the market today!
I just finished watching his review. I really like his reviews, they are almost better than Android Central's. I'm just waiting for this whole thing to get straightened out so I can actually purchase my EVO.
Best review I saw so far. I got to see what I'm looking forward to. Made me feel a little better during these troubled times.
Yeah very good review. I also agree with him about Sprints pathetic 3G download speeds. They really need to speed the NV upgrade up before they lose a ton of customers.

It wasn't like this a few months ago, because I was able to get 1MB up, and down on 3G in some areas. In the last month or so it has become terrible. LOS, dropped calls delayed text messages. I hope network vision upgrades are complete here in NYC.
I was told by a CS rep that network upgrades are the problem because network vision is being rolled out very soon. I know NYC market is listed as a 1st round market for network vision to come live in 2012. I am hoping this pain will stop in June or there about!
Also may I reiterate that Aaron does a very good video review for each phone that seems fair, unbiased, and truthful.

I agree with you regarding the speeds. I live in Columbus, OH right now and used to get around 800-1000kbps during the day. Now its absolutely atrocious, though Columbus isn't even on the NV roll out list. Hopefully we can get LTE here before the end of 2013.
As bad as sprint 3g has been I'm still able to stream google music and spotify with no problems. But its always ugly in the speed test app.

If u don't have the speedtest app download it, once downloaded change which server u use. I connect to Radnor and get better speeds than I do on the Columbus tower

It won't actually change your 3G speed in browsing the web, just your results in the SpeedTest app.
Honestly, although I like and want this ELTE device. I feel like we r being played by Sprint. I used to work for them for 5 yrs as a CSR and I like them for their plans and devices. I dont want anyone to think I'm just hating on them. I really enjoy my service and plan and genuinely roll with Sprint, but c'mon.
I mean, we have to pay an additional fee for "premium" data, but a lot of ppl don't have access to premium data. They were told they wld be rolling out 4G nationwide (for the most part) which is still not accessible nationwide. Now, all smart phones pay an additional fee? Sounds like we were hood-winked and that's just not right.
And about this release date being push-back b/c of CBP, this is absolutely insane! Ok, so you have a press conference saying this high-end (flagship) phone will be released on 5/18 for a network that's won't initially be ready until June, possibly. Then we are expected to go back to using 3G (EVO owners with 4G coverage) until the network catches up, right? And still pay an additional fee!? That's also insane and confusing like the guy in the reviews said.
My problem with that is that u have HTC, Sprint, and At&t, which are very big companies that are waiting on a major flagship device. You mean to tell me that noone is any of these organizations had the foresight to say, "now u know there's some patent issues and the phones may not get imported?" Noone in any of these companies had the intelligence to think, what if? What contingency plan do we have? And to make it worse, some ppl can't cancel their order?? That's Sprint saying hell no you not getting your money back even though we fudged up, you're going to wait until the phone arrives and then send it back. Yea right? After we've been drooling over the phone, we're gonna send it back once we get it? I don't think so.....I just feel like the end-user always gets "it" up the rear with no lub!

You are making the same mistake almost everyone else (and everyone who complains about that 10.00 data charge as far as I know) does:
Premium data does not mean 4G. It means premium data. Flip phones don't have that fee.
After the Hero came out and other smart phones became more prevalent, Sprint charged a fee that was initially erroneously assumed to be 4G related (because it came out with the Evo 4G). The data charge is simply due to the fact that smartphones use one HELL of a lot more data on the network than flip phones, or 'non-smart' phones do.
Sprint realized that as these phones became more common they were going to be adding to the networks in order to accommodate the influx of data use, and rather than simply raising the rates on their plans (which they should probably do so people stop *****ing about having to pay a '4G premium' (it isn't) when they don't have 4G service) they just added a line item surcharge.
It's not a '4g' charge. It's a charge for phones that use the most data on their networks. I find it to be eminently fair.

The ONE X launched on AT&T on 5/6. The ITC didn't ban imports on that device when it launched, so what would make HTC or Sprint think the evo launch would go any differently?

Ok, I see your point! But what then does premium data mean? I think my TP2, Moto Q, used 3G and there wasn't an additional data fee. And I was informed by sprint that initially it was being charged b/c it was 4G device. And I believe initially only 4G devices were billed this fee. Now all smartphone are billed this fee. My point is, It's all about the money like everything else. I just think as big as Sprint is, they should know better than to count their eggs b4 they hatch.

It was only the Evo that had that data fee in the beginning. But it was never a 4G fee. The reps made an invalid assumption....basically never believe anything you get from a Sprint rep.
What they did was hit EVERY smart phone after the Evo with that 10.00 fee, then grandfathered in the old smart phones like the Hero. The reason they didn't have that fee prior to that is because they realized that with newer phones having a higher capable speed, coupled with the massive amount of smart phones they already had in the pipeline, they were going to blow up in terms of data usage...so they instituted the fee and to the best of my knowledge have been using it for upgrades to the network.
Again, the fee came about due to the massive amounts of data that smart phones use, whether they're on 1x, 3g, 4g. They use a TON of data. Think about how many of your apps have an hourly poll to the network (weather, most widgets, etc), then multiply that by how many smartphones are on Sprint's network and you'll begin to see why they added that fee.

This is just a rant, so sorry if I'm off-topic, but this is just getting to be too much.
I'm a store manager for a multi-carrier cell phone store, nationwide, with stores in the thousands. I won't name names for privacy (and job security) reasons, so yeah. Sprint is just pissing me off lately with everything they've been doing.
First, the OTA ICS update that has been held back for Gods know why, with no official word on anything, and HTC sitting back and just watching, not helping out or releasing source code. They have the gall to release the 3D on Virgin WITH ICS, for half the price of the 3D (unactivated), with better plan pricing and the same coverage for the most part, including 4G, if you can even call it that. Sprint, get off your ass and get us ICS already, the firmware that comes stock on these phones is OVER A YEAR OLD, Jeebus.
Secondly, the way they're dealing with the GSIII fiasco. I have people coming in every day since the 21st, asking where their phone is. Sprint hasn't even contacted almost any of their own preorder customers to let them know about the delay, so anybody not on a forum like this has no idea. Not only that, but they won't release a new date or an explanation, nothing, just a "TBD" is all I have to go by on my system. This is how they treat customers shelling out $200-$250 for a phone? Sure, I don't expect to know everything, but AT LEAST have the corporate courtesy to let your customers 1) know about the delay, and 2) the WHY, even a simple "Samsung can't produce enough phones to keep up with demand" would be fine, but they opted for nothing instead.
Lastly, their pathetic data network. I mean absolutely pathetic. I sell these phones daily, and have to uptalk them as my job, but it's getting harder and harder when I have to DEMO my 3D to customers and can't even load a jpeg at work. I have 2 bars of 3G, on Verizon that gets my associate 1200 kb/s, for me I get 0.7 kb/s. Seriously? Their 4G network? Useless. There's ONE tower in my entire county, a quarter mile from my apartment, and I can't get signal indoors. Even when I'm outside, I'll get up to and including 3 bars, and even then it's barely usable. Then they go and switch to LTE, leaving the rest of us in the dust. I switched years ago just so I could get 4G when it rolled out, and look at where that got us. Now we have another couple years at least until there' LTE where I'm at. It's just disgusting, how Sprint is running things these days. It's not like they're broke, after doubling their upgrade fee, charging every smartphone customer the $10 4G charge, and getting more new customers here than either other carrier (for my store at least), they have the income.
I will give them this, their customer service is by far the best to work with. I've literally been asked if I have any idea what I'm doing while calling AT&T, and been hung up on several times by Verizon, but Sprint has never done me wrong. Any problem I've had they've been able to solve, so kudos. Now get to making your customers happy instead of your reps, unless you want to lose them both to a competitor with better coverage/faster data/faster updates.
</rant>
Excellent thread,
This will open a lot of eyes. I plan to get rid of sprint soon. They are the worst carrier out of them all. Their service is just horrible. I can't imagine your position on convincing customers to go with sprint.
the thing i dont get is why wont they allow good clean esns that have wimax like the shift or the normal 3d on their boost prepaid network. i dont buy their oh it picks up a different signal garbage that they try to say since we all know that they will in fact work just fine with a pri/prl update. I understand the bad esns but let the people use their own damn phone that they have that evo design sux...just my opinion
They have an excellent plan in place. But as of now it's only that, a plan. A 3 to 5 year plan, at that. So maybe in two and a half contracts I'll come back, but I'm switching to a Verizon dealer line the day the GSIII comes out.
I tell guests that their network will only get better with time, and that they're putting a lot of effort and money towards it. Not complete BS, but over the last year I haven't seen jack for this whole county. Once their "Network Vision" is complete (check my previous posts about that for a detailed explanation of what they're planning) then they'll have coverage and speeds as good as, if not (don't stone me) better than Big Red. For now though, even my friend with T-Mobile has ludacris speeds compared to what I'm getting. Hell, when I roam (which apparently isn't onto Verizon, I didn't know ) with 1X I get over double the speeds of Sprint's "3G"
Yeah. I'm not a fan of switching carriers, but I am seriously considering jumping on Verizon. My phone has become nearly unusable. Can't run Google Play, wallpaper apps, news feeds, etc. Data is just too slow. Meanwhile, I'm paying just as much as the guy with 4G service, in fact, I'm on the same plan. That should be illegal. I can't think of many industries where that is allowed to happen. That would be like if a cable provider charged everyone the same, but some people got three channels, while some got 600 all in hd. People wouldn't stand for it.
So I guess the question is, what do I want more? Verizon where I'm afraid of going over my limit but have great data, or Sprint where my data is complete garbage but I can use it all I want. Haven't figured out an answer to that question yet.

I literally just spent 7 minutes downloading XDA (3 MB) to reply to this. That was with 5-6 bars of 3G (outside on lunch from work now). I rest my case.
Honestly, when somebody on Verizon tells me they want to switch to sprint, I tell them "unlimited data is nice, but not when your data is slower than AOL in 1998." Verizon might be more expensive, by maybe $10-20, but it's oh so worth it.

The reason they're not giving you information about the GSIII is because Samsung is having problems getting them to Sprint... Sprint can't tell when they're going to get them, as they're waiting for them as well... I've read press releases that they're looking to get the 32gb a week after the 16gb. Maybe just do a quick search online?

Half the people I sell phones to, including GS III preorders, know as much about phones and online forums as I do about the Jersey Shore. The fast of the matter is Sprint dropped the ball and left everybody in the dark. Unless you deliberately went looking for info, you would never know. Courtesy is all I ask, at least tell the people who gave you money what's going on.

Never assume anything. If I just assumed people wanting a smartphone knew about the extra data fee and didn't bother telling them, for example, I wouldn't still be a store manager. Only thing you can assume is that the guest knows nothing, so you tell them what they need to know. That way, everybody you help is on the same page, knows the same stuff, and is well informed on what affects them.
Sprint could take a page from that. Don't assume your preorder customers are going to stumble upon your Facebook post, or that article about your press release, or even call up customer service. Assume they live under a rock and it's your responsibility to inform them of any changes in the order process.
Well that small thought escalated quickly... you get the point. :

Troll harder, bro.
If something isn't what it should be, if service is less than what is stated, if I'm paying for something that cannot be used as advertized, why would I stay quiet about it? Lemme learn you somethin', boy. The squeeky wheel gets the oil. If nobody makes a complaint, if nobody rises up, nothing will ever change. This applies to more than just a cell phone company, obviously, e.g. everything from the American Revolution to the current battle for gay rights. Nothing will change unless we act and do something about it, which is exactly what I'm doing.
I've already sent letters to both Sprint and HTC about all this, HTC more about the bootloaders and source code. I'm also switching to Verizon until Sprint gets their act together. I'm here to let people know that there are other options besides rolling over and offering to be Sprint's 'bottom' while they take your money. I'm here to tell you that it is not only the customer who is pissed at them, but the CSRs, the Sales Associates and even the SMs like me, who are at their wit's end with all the cloak and dagger secrecy about fraking everything.
Anywho, yeah. Sprint has my full support in the future, and I'll gladly come back when they are better, but I can't deal with not having good service while it's my job to sell these things.
Are there any other Sprint employees or people in Sprint sales positions (Best Buy, Target Mobile, Radioshack, etc.) who feel the same way as I do? Chime in here, let these people know what you think.
You just made me hate sprint even more than I already do.
Thanks!

Where else you gonna get unlimited? Sure you get better data speed with other companies, if i was them id make it as fast as i could. Cause when you jump over your 2-3gb limit id just rape the sht out of you with overrage fees just like they do. As much as i dont like sprint, i wont be going anywhere until they get rid of their unlimited plans.

I just checked my last 6 months of usage. Due to Sprint's speeds, I've never once used more than a gig. Most months were under 400 MB. I stick to wifi at home, and don't even bother downloading anything until I'm home.
I'd S so many Ds for the ABILITY to use 2 to 3 gigs a month... just saying. Like I said before, unlimited is nice, but it's useless if it's so slow that it becomes unusable.
EDIT: Also, they have no plans to remove unlimited, they have quadruple the bandwidth of every other carrier for data, which is how they can still offer unlimited. Again, good plan in place, but words are just words.
The above is why I got the Virgin Mobile rebranded version. At $35 a month, I'll break even for the $300 the phone cost in 9 months. And at that price I can accept less that great data speeds.

[email protected] "I'd s so many D's" wth brah. never is anything worth s'in d's unless of course it is for more d's in which case the initial d s is negated by your willingness to s a d.
