New European Firmware

Build Date: August 22, 2011
CSC:OXX (Portugal?)
password for archive: samfirmware.com
No new Radio Firmware S5830XWKP7 maybe this is the last radio firmware. This was included in KPO, KPT
Flash via ODIN
It is a One Package file so make sure you are on a 2.3.3 Base
If you are CM7 2.3.5 this is unrelated the Base you installed e.g KPO, KPO is 2.3.3 so you are ok to install this otherwise install a full package 2.3.3 release then flash KPW.
WINDOWS XP USERS BEWARE! ODIN 4.42 HAS ISSUES WITH XP PLEASE USE OLDER ODIN OR USE WINDOWS 7 TO FLASH!
This was released via KIES in portugal. I guess CSC = Portugal
Cheers
Tried flashing in Windows XP with ODIN 4.42 and won't flash stuck on mibib. Luckily when I unplugged it and took the battery out for 10 secs I went back into Download Mode and still wouldn't do anything.
EDIT: Used Windows 7 and flashed it ok. All drivers for galaxy ace in Windows xp where correct. (Kies)
ODIN 4.42 must not like windows xp.

OXX is Portugal alright - but I can't get this update (or any other) on my Portuguese Galaxy Ace through Kies at all:-
PDA: S5830XWKB4
PHONE: S5830XXKA6
CSC: S5830OXXKB3
Can anyone offer any clue as to why Kies won't update? I've read elsewhere that its due to a mismatched product code/CSC but my product code is right for an unlocked Portuguese Ace as far as I can tell.
I guess, because I'm stuck on 2.2.1, I can't flash this single-package firmware via Odin

This I have been told
Reinstalled Kies, it updated with a hotfix and now I get a much clearer error message:-
The current firmware version is not an official release
Firmware upgrade service for unofficial versions is not supported
So how does a new phone, fresh out of the box on Saturday, end up in this kind of state I wonder?

Quite likely they're complete divs who don't even know what firmware is.
Really not sure what to do now.
---------- Post added at 01:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:35 PM ----------
OK, I have a plan now.
I've downloaded the firmware this thread is about having done enough searching around to satisfy myself that this is a portuguese operator-unlocked firmware for the Ace. Now since I have a portuguese, operator-unlocked Ace (GT-S5830OKATPH) by flashing this I should be able to get further updates through Kies.
So if I root, flash Clockworkmod recovery, and take a backup before flashing this firmware, I should be able to go back to a stock state in case I screw things up or the firmware isn't what I think it is.
Does that sound like a reasonable plan? can I unroot and remove Clockworkmod Recovery in case I need to go back to a complete "as-delivered" state for warranty purposes?
Any tips much appreciated.

I installed KPW just to see how it works. I installed cf-root b82, converted to ext4, changed some things with uot and it's all ok. The only problem is the lag when unlocking. When I press the power button it takes a long time for the screen to turn on. This also happens when I finish a call and move the phone away from my ear. Is there any way to speed things up a bit? Can I deodex it and what good will it bring?
p.s. I also installed Checks V4 ram script.

You need to reflash stock using ODIN before you can use kies, as Kies doesn't recognise custom kernels.

Will reflashing bring back the stock kernel and make the phone unrooted in short make it the way Samsung sold it to me?
Also, I am using Galaxy S2 I9100G build number GINGERBREAD.XWKJ2 and for it only 1 unsecured kernel was available at this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327509
I rooted my phone without any problem but since there's no way to get back the stock kernel, I am afraid that if need be, how am I gonna claim warranty for my device.

Yes aslong as you flash the firmware that came with it t will be like as samsung sold it. Have a look at intratech's thread he may just have the kernel if you still have the original firmware on it already.

Yes, I do have the original firmware on it. Didn't have enough guts to play with custom ROM :/
I did check intratech's thread and found stock kernel for XWKJ2 but the thread titles says "Official i9100 Firmwares" whereas my phone shows i9100G. I guess this won't work.
And, when flashing to original firmware, will the kernel's be replaced to the original one's as well?
Thanks for suck quick replies Am just a n00b diving into Android

Hi guys,
I got my orange samsung galaxy s2 less than a week. Yesterday after rooting, flashing villianrom, i like an idiot, installed Clearglass 1.6 Theme zip via CWM. After rebooting, the phone has now gone into a boot loop. But since i had a nandroid backup (NOT A ZIP FILE!), i thought i'll simply restore...but i can't! The sdcard won't mount. So then i found THIS THREAD.
After following the instructions, i still can't mount the SD Card, yet it's fine in windows 7.
I also thought i'd try to use the ODIN method to reflash my stock fw, but i can't find the correct kernel version . FYI, i'm from uk and the details of my phone are below:-
MODEL: GT-I9100P
ANDROID VERSION: 2.3.4
BASEBAND VERSION: I9100PBVKI2
KERNEL: [email protected] #2
BUILD NO: GINGERBREAD.BVKI3
PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME! I can't be without my phone
Not sure what you are asking .
Firmware is not kernel whatever your correct firmware is that includes the kernel .
You have a 1900P whatever the P is .
Find the firmware not the kernel here .
Stock Roms .and csc
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Alternative
Clean Slate for those that balls up the firmware .
Backup data first if phone is working .
Boot CWM recovery
Mounts and Storage
Format cache data system sd card .
Remove battery
Boot to download mode
Open Odin
Install correct stock firmware .
Still problems use usb jig to set rom counter to zero .
Return to service centre .

Many thanks for showing me the correct version. I wasn't too sure as i didn't want to mess up the phone permanently. So i simply follow the ODIN boot loop guide?
The way it looks to me is that CWM/Phone is corrupted as i've tried everything - mount/format/unmount/re-mount sd, but it won't detect.
OH BTW! Can you please clarify something for me. I thought that since my orange stock rom said "KI3", i must always get a "KI3"....have i got that wrong? if so how can a KI4 work on a KI3 and why is it not necessary to stick with KI3?
Hey there wowandroid, the KI* is, in my humble opinion just a revision number, higher could mean better reliability in terms of signal and perhaps even battery drain
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
thanks AJ. It's just that my i9100 is P model (i9100P) and has NFC capabilities. I've managed to flash the phone back with the ki4 rom, so big thank you to JJEgan. I just thought that because i have a p model, i might end up removing features once i flash with a ki4.
Anyway, now that i've got it working, can i go ahead and use odin to flash villianrom/checkrom back again?

checkrom is compactable with every Theme out there if its built for the latest XWKK5 version which checkrom is on!
So first
1)Install ROM
2)Use there Kitchen Download only any one of the themes, and hit apply and then install (Obviously)
OR
You can Download manually from the Forums any theme or any thing for stock XWKK5
3)After a theme install u will reboot.
4)Then use there Kitchen to flash any mods etc u want
Personally i use this via Kitchen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310527

hi guys,
i'm about to get started with the update. couple of questions though:-
1. What kernel do you recommend? I need a kernel which gives it the longest battery life if possible.
2. What theme do you recommend? I need a theme which is good eyecandy, but isn't too bloated. Something like this for the villianrom:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229723
3. Is there a rom posted that has already been customised and tweaked with popular kernels/themes? Saves me messing around.

I can think of 2 possibilities why it might not work.
-wrong CSC: find your country's CSC and change yours to match. Here and Here
your ROM must have your CSC or a Multi-CSC where your CSC is included.
-"Zombie"-ROM: A ROM patched together from different originals, e.g. a good stock kernel from one ROM with a good modem from another ROM. This shouldn't be, because you took an original from intratech's Thread. But if you want, you can also try this.
I hope this helps.
If I am Orange UK stock do I just find the UK Stock XEU and put it on?

It looks like you already have an ORANGE-ROM. what exactly are you trying to do? If you want to get rid of the orange branding, what you have there looks good.

Don't you feel kinda stupid after beginning a thread with an OLD question and then having to post on that thread that you found your answer within that same forum from a thread that is stickied and out there for everybody to use
Hi all, I have a brand new galaxy SII bought in Belgium. I wanted to root it but something went wrong. I used this guide:
http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s2-i9100-icsandroid-4-0/
Now I think I know what went wrong, the guide is only for a device already on ICS (i think) which was not the case. Trouble is that I do not know which kernel version was on the device before the flash and now he doesn't boot anymore. I just see the galaxy S2 logo with triangle and that's it.
Can you please help me? I'm sorry, I know I was really not careful enough...
If you can get into download mode, follow the guide here to root your phone & consider yourself lucky.
If you can't get into download or recovery mode, you're probably boned. Try a jig before you send it to a service center or have it JTAG repaired by a 3rd party.

Thank you for the very quick answer I can get to the download mode without a problem so I think its repairable. Also thank you for the link, problem is that I do not know which version of the insecure kernel i need since the phone doen't boot anymore and I can't see the about phone page... Any tips on that? Or will it be a trial and error game to see with which kernel the phone boots?
Thank you very much for your help!
OK. Being able to get into download mode is good. Now, finding the kernel that came with the phone...
I probably wouldn't go down the trial & error route, have a look at this thread . Don't worry about the links, what you need to do is find the matching kernel for your carrier & country. Then you can look for the matching insecure kernel in the CFRoot thread I linked you to in the previous post.
Edit to add - Linked to wrong thread in first instance, OP, make sure the link you click on takes you to 'Official I9100 Carrier Branded Firmwares'.
Thank you very much. You really are a great help I will try it tommorow morning when I have a bit more time (I don't want to screw it up again ).
No probs ;-) If you have any dramas, post in this thread again. Important thing is to make sure you find the right kernel in that carrier branded firmware thread in the 2nd post, then in the CFRoot kernel thread find the closest match.
For example, if your original kernel is --KF2, you would try and find a matching CFRoot kernel. If there is a KF2 CFRoot kernel, good. You use that. But, if there wasn't a KF2 CFRoot kernel but there was a KF1 or KF3, you could use either of those. Again, this is just an example but should give you an idea of what to look for.
I just booted succesfully. No data lost, everything just fine I did exactly what you said and it worked like a charm. I cannot thank you enough Just wanted to let you know
Really ? Got the phone rooted & all working well ? Very good No probs, glad it worked out well for you/no data loss & most importantly no borked phone
Yep all working fine now. I even put ressurection ics on it without a single problem very glad you were so helpful!
It was so unfortunate that I'm now in this position, a stuck galaxy s 2 logo with triangle on it.
Earlier today, I rooted an SGS2 of my friend on 2.3.4 using XW_NEE_KI4-42: 2.3.4, CF-Root v4.2, SU 3.0, "insecure" to correspond with the 'KI4' code. After that I flashed it with CM9 and all went well.
Seeing the success, another friend wanted me to do the same to his device. I gladly picked up the phone (which was using an official ICS ROM) and simply rooted it using the same file as above via Odin. That is the part where I did wrong. So this phone won't boot and now I have no idea what the 'code' was. Still, odin mode is accessible.
So, where do I go from here?
Should I make new thread for this? Or is the solution provided here is applicable?
The sgs2 was unbranded aka international version.
Thanks in advance.
Flash a stock rom via Odin. That will give you a 'clean slate'. Search Intratech's firmware thread, if the links don't work search Samfirmware.com for the stock firmware you need.
Alternatively, you can get the latest firmware for the phone model/carrier/country with the PC version of Checkfus (search for it on here/Google). The firmware package you download can be flashed in Odin following the instructions in Intratech's thread.
you were the one who solved OP problems n now here you are again to help me out. Seriously, thanks.. I'll definitely will give it a try soon when i got back n I'll report back.
Thanks man.

I seem to be following you around lol not on purpose
I'd wouldn't flash a stock rom "straight off the bat" .. Only I would do that as a last resort!
Flashing the correct kernel will make the phone boot up with NO LOSS of data and all will be back to normal
Flashing a stock ROM will mean you have to start all over again.. (like we do anyway when we flash different custom roms)
So I'm not saying your wrong, just saying try a different kernel first!
Thanks Eudemony, I'll try kernel first. So it seems like there are 2 LPBs and 2 LPQs and all of them about 17 different kernels for ICS. Alright, I'll try LPQ first. But, is it okay to keep on flashing/Odin-ing each and every single of it? Any bad consequences of that? Or side effects? hehe, sounded like i'm trying out new drugs.

If it is the wrong kernel .. you know the result as you have just done that..
and thats what you are trying to fix
If its the right kernel .. everything should "magically" load back up

Seems like you're 'downgrade' your friend's S2... If AP unit then take a look at your friend's S2 box any IMEI or Warranty Card which can identified the phone origin region.. My phone AP unit no problem flashing latest open europe firmware from samfirmware website... Already rooted and no annoying yellow triangle... flash counter zero... thanks triangle away.. In your case once your friend's phone region is identified then download accordingly.. flash the correct firmware via odin... deal with triangle later.. most important ensure your friend's phone working and please avoid softbrick..
IMEI will identify aprox build date and area of release .

Seriously? I didnt know that. Actually, before upgrading his phone (lets call him Z), Y asked me to flash CM9 but then since his phone wasn't yet rooted with 2.3.4 on top, I decided to update using kies to see whats it like to have an official ics (youtube isnt enough, hehe) but to no avail. Kies told me the phones having the latest firmware even though I've updated kies to latest version.. hmmm..

My galaxy s2 (GT-I9100 white) won't reboot after I root it and it stuck on the Startup screen and there's a yellow exclamation mark. It still can go into download mode again but I got no idea what to do in order to recover the phone... Anyone can help about it??? Did my phone just turn into a brick????:crying::crying::crying:
P/S: I am a Malaysian and this phone was bought in Switzerland and I never root it before.

He told me to flash the kernel then only install custom...so I can directly flash the rom to my s2
by using odin???

This is because you flashed a wrong kernel for your phone.
# Quick question:
Is your phone on Gingerbread, Android 2.3.x or ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich), Android 4.0.x?
# If your phone is on ICS, then download and flash this kernel via Odin: www.gokhanmoral.com/public/files/siyahkernel/v3.0/Siyah-v3.5.2.tar
# If your phone is on Gingerbread, then download and flash this kernel via Odin: gokhanmoral.desean.net/siyahkernel/v2.6/Siyah-v2.6.14.tar

Thanks for that.
I have the I9100BVLPH stock ROM from T-Mobile UK on my phone so I downloaded the correct Chain Fire kernel (CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LPH-v5.2-CWM5.tar) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399 and this caused the phone not to boot.
Thanks for the link to Siyah, I used the v4.1.5 kernel and it worked great.
Hello there.
I'm in a bit of a trouble so I need some help. I've bought an S2 for my wife from a guy (in Ireland).
The phone was locked on Vodafone so I tried to root it maybe I'll be lucky to unlock it with out paying nothing. So, the phone is on Gingerbread with a BUKJ3 kernel. I've downloaded last night a CF root but by mistake I took a KG3 instead of KJ3. After flashing with Odin 1.85 I got stuck on the boot screen with the yellow triangle.
This morning I've downloaded another kernel as in KJ3 flashed with Odin, the phone is starting but no network coverage, I tried with different Sim cards but nothing so I went in recovery mode and wipe/format data, system, dalvik and cache as factory reset as well. Since that moment the phone won't boot, it gets stuck on the boot screen and yellow triangle.
I can go in recovery mode and download mode with no problem but I can't make it start.
I reflashed the kernel, I don't know what to do and tomorrow is my wife's birthday and I was trying to surprise her with a nice phone but instead looks like she is gonna get a brick ( I hope not)
Thank you guys for any help.
Go to sammobile and get something like unbranded XWLP7 stock rom....flash via odin
Then use rachmats ics rooting guide
Backup efs folder and make nand backup
Then get unlock app(by helroz or chainfire)

Thank you for the reply. I don't mean any disrespect but for the last 3 hours I'm looking over kernels and forum and my brain is really wired now maybe.
I've had a look at sammobile but I can't find what you've recommended. A more specific link will be more than helpful.
Thank you very much anyway. If I'm getting advises it means I didn't bricked the phone so I might be able to fix it.
Once again thank you.
You just go to sammobile, then register, then firmware and files, then put the info in the 4 fields
eg
Smartphone
Android
Gt-i9100
Then uk/ire XEU (or vodafone or whatever..but unbranded better)
Then youll see a list about firmware version and their release date
Eg
Lpt 4.0.4 ics jul 2012
Lp7 4.0.3 ics apr 2012
So download lp7 4.0.3 and flash with odin.
Then use the rooting guide in my sig
Then do the other things I said.

Thank you very much. In the mean while I've managed to find exactly what you've said in your answer. I've choose the gingerbread version of the ROM cause that was what the phone had when I've bought it.
SO, now is it safe to go on ICS like I did half an hour ago with that Gingerbread rom?
Thank you and sorry about the noob question, never used an Samsung, only HTC.
Yeah just do what I said.......not what you think!.

Did it, thank you very much. The phone start but somehow I've lost my IMEI number and base band. I must be really unlucky.
I've read that Odia can help in this matter but if anybody has any idea, I'll be happy to make a donation for getting back the IMEI number.
Once again thank you very much.

People contact Odia when theres a problem with their efs folder/no backup.
But you should have a backup and a nand backup.
I had the same problem yesterday and I restored efs folder/restored nand backup.....which got it back.
So try that or theres a thread about "restore imei in 9 easy steps".

I know I was stupid enough not to read before flashing, but now it too late to think about that.
the thing is I've never used a galaxy phone until these days and I wasn't aware of all this things and I don't know how to restore this NAND backup IF I have one, as I didn't make any backup before flushing. I hope I'll get some help from somebody and as I've said, a nice donation will be on the way to the helper.
Try GSII repair app.But you have to be rooted.
