I Installed Samsung captivate original firmware ( from samfirmware.com) on my vibrant to get 2.3.4 android !!
It worked well after applying the firmware but I decided to go back to the original vibrant firmware ( also downloaded from samfirmware.com ) after applying the restore ODIN told me "PASS" I unplugged my vibrant and it stopped working !!!
The screen always black, no download mode, no recovery menu, when connecting the USB nothing happen
Can anybody help me or even advice
odd odin said pass..
Try battery out for 5-10 min, plug in phone, recovery combo then battery in.
Recovery keys may have be changed, try just the up or just the down key.
If not probably hard brick, need a riff jtag.
Thanks for your reply, I'll try this but first what you mean by "recovery combo" ?
err download combo....my bad.. normally is hold both volume, but try each alone too.
and fyi I thought i hardbricked a 2nd time, but i let it sit there a while then tried and download keys worked.
I removed the batt. for 6 mins. and then pressed vol. down and plug the USB cable but no luck, also tried vol. up + USB plug, then I tried pwr + vol. down & pwr. + vol. up but no luck
did I did it correct ?

Screw up your phone..maybe it has something to do with the digitizer and lcd just like what happens to me..
Are you putting battery back in after you plug in cable and while holding keys?
(Also try this method. With battery in, download combo, then plug in while holding down buttons)
Just making sure, cause last resort is the riff jtag i mentioned which usually requires $
and no djhemz07 it doesnt seem to be a hardware issue.. If really hard bricked it means the buttons no longer mean anything to the phone firmware.
I also hard bricked my phone after upgrading to froyo via kies my phone doesn't start up no lights..i can't get into recovery nor download mode..the technician has about to jtag my phone but it start up after opening my phone..you may want to read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277056
Still not working I pressed both vol. keys , plugin USB then put the batt. and no luck
Can the software damage the phone hardware ? when I applied the original firmware I did it correctly because I did it many times before and ODIN shows blue flag "Pass"
It shouldnt damage, though sounds like just a brick now. Though it is odd Odin said pass..
Take a break try again later, if doesnt then start looking for Riff jtag repair near you =(
trailblazerz11 I appreciate your help
What do you think about this video watch?v=Rdn5GoRjhn0 ??
Try this one-click UnBrick: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153310
Try this Mode-Detect: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17458275
then try this UnBrickable Mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277056
JTAG is a one-time thing, UnBrickable Mod is permanent
I did my best but no luck I sent it to some repair service as final solution and it will cost me 50$
You should have gone with UnBrickable Mod. It lets you recover with nothing more then a USB cable and software once its performed on the device.

Can you get phone into download mode? Install odin and all windows drivers. Take out batt plug up usb hold vol up and down and put in battery. If that doesn't work there is a cable you can but that might force it into download mode

Can you get adb to work?
I had the same thing happen earlier, I was flashing back a stock ROM in Odin, which I have done before, and this time it was doing the cache files and the phone went black and removed from Odin, now this PC-Computer icon is up. Holding down the power-button just blanks for a second then puts back to the phone-pc screen, my phone was hardware locked so the power+volumes does nothing, and the computer won't recognize the phone in adb.

Download Mode trick.. it worked for me.
Ok guys! here you go.... If you feel like you semi-bricked your phone and cannot boot into download mode.. there is a trick that might work for some or it might not doesn't hurt to try, but damn sure worked for me... Make sure phone is connected to computer with ODIN Opened,..
1. Unplug your phone from usb
2. Take out battery (and mini sd and sim)
3. Plug usb back into phone.
4. Hold down up and down volume keys while putting battery back into the phone. IT SHOULD BOOT INTO DOWNLOAD MODE. if not sorry. Sometimes when people flash back and forth the up and down volume keys get reversed... so try volume down and power.. or volume up and power. GOOD LUCK!!!

No luck, currently going through a relentless trial-error process of different usb-battery-sim/sd-volume-power buttons. Just found out insurance which I thought was covered on my phone via Asurion through T-Mobile is only covering one of the phones on my line, yet I bought them both with warranties at the same time... Pretty bummed, Only is looking like paying the deductable fee for a new phone as if lost/stolen.. Hope something pulls through.
Just a small deviation
1. Take out the battery
2. Plug the USB into the phone
3. Plug USB into the PC
4. Hold down the Volume up/down + Power button with one hand
5. Put the battery back in with the other hand
6. Wait for the phone2pc icon to flash 2 times and on the second time when the screen goes black release only the POWER BUTTON
7. When you see the digging Android you can let go of the Volume buttons
That is the only way I could get it to work

Which firmware (kernel only or complete)? Link?
Which OS were you from before odin up the KA7?
I ran into similar problem. I was from Stock Froyo Kies, then odin over the supercurio stock+kernel KA7. It got black screen ...for a good 5-10 min. I was going to pull out battery but I heard some mumble jumble in the background telling me that it's converting (voodoo ext4) so I left it alone. If you pulled out too early during the conversion before it finish doing voodoo...I'm not sure what happened to that unless your odin KA7 does not have odin. Do you see any light, sound, or splash screen at all?
When you flash, did you have "repartition" checked or not?
Anyway, have you try the 2 button download mode? Mine was silent dead black screen too at one point from last few days with few variation difference caused by different tinkering mistakes. I just took off battery, sim, sd and kill odin. Reput them all back and fire up odin. Hold down both the + and - with 2 fingers, then hook in USB from pc to phone. It should put it to download mode and you can reodin whatever...depends what it can do.
same situation here.
i came from T959UVJFD then i flashed T959UVKA7 (.tar.md5 file from samfirmware.com) using odin3 v1.70
odin says it was finished. but it doesnt turn on anymore. i cannot even go to download mode.
PLEASE HELP!
any kind of button combo doest work
try downloading odin3v 1.85 and using this method to put in to download mode
1. pull the battery,
2. put it back in;
3. then, with the phone still off, plug your usb into the computer,
4. turn on odin3,
5. hold the center of the volume buttons,
6. plug the usb to the phone while holding the volume botton

I know I'm posting this on multiple threads, but Im desperate! I'm having the exact issue as OP, am hoping a suggestion from someone helps. Right now my hope is hanging on the comments from people here claiming "it is REALLY difficult to brick this phone".
I was "downgrading" from ICS Passion with GB bootloader, down to stock. The "downgrade" to 2.1 worked fine. Then I used Kies to upgrade to Froyo, and after the install it shutdown, and now the phone doesn't respond to any key. Tried a different battery as well, to eliminate a probably battery issue. No good.
Tried different combos to get to recover/download modes: Vol UP + Power, Vol Down + Power, Vol Up+Vol Down+Power, and Insert Cable+ Vol UP+Vol Down - nothing yet. Used ODIN 1.85 with suggestion from canyon789, and that didn't work either.
Any ideas? Please help.

If your willing to wait the approx. week, call up Samsung tell them that you were updating through Kies and then your phone would no longer turn on, you've tried different batteries and tried different cables and still nothing, she/he will try to help you get into recovery mode, just go along with it, she will then help you get everything you need to send it to Samsung's nearest repair center. Sent mine in last thursday, they replaced the PBA (logic board) and are sending it now. Should be here in 2 days :]

Did you try the exact no-boot steps from the Guide linked to above?
I tried everything else, only the exact sequence worked.
Battery out, phone plugged in, Odin running: press center of volume keys,
insert battery.

his is not going to help at all, you damage the bootloader you as happened to me, but in my case it did ODIN, Mini Kies did.
The only thing you can try and see if you have some success is to do two things:
* Easy way: pay for you to get a JTAG on the phone and reinstall the bootloader. (Actually that's what you Damage to flash it)
* Terse: Vibrant Unbrickable do MOD
(but must be done by someone who is skilled in welding and electronics, as this takes a lot of risk, as is jumping two pins that control the processor of the phone)
note that the device is already damaged, you try to repair it, if you do not succeed, At Vibrant Ebay sell broken, win one for 53.66 at auction. and attempting to repair Give you a MOD.
I hope you will help.
If Mini Kies damaged your phone, call Samsung, tell them that you upgraded with Mini Kies and now it won't turn on and they replace it for free.

Help Guys i have a paperweight!
My samsung vibrant is totally bricked! I have tried many different meathods and all do not work at all. I even bought a jig off ebay! That doesn't even put it into download mode.
Please help!
Can someone please make my paperweight work again?
I was flashing a new baseband on the phone when Odin stalled for some reason. I accidentally disconnected my phone and now stuck on the phon!computer screen only!
Hi...
I had a similar situation with my phone.
When you get the "phon!computer screen" you should only connect the cable and start the flash with odin....
Try this and you could solve your problem...
i did it doesn't do anything!
When you have odin open, usb in the pc connected.... when you connect to phone while holding both volume buttons, does odin show a COM #?
if so, you should be okay... from that screen you can use odin.
well try this with phone off 1.take out battery 2.hold volume up and volume down together 3. while holding buttons down put battery back in 4.still holding buttons plug usb into it and should be in download mode .see if this helps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqxearzXrVY here's a video might help to see it done
so i just got pissed and used odin3 and checked repartition and somehow after it failed. I pluged the phone in again and this time it finally went to download mode. Thanks everyon problem solved.
good to here
I was running simply honey 3.8 on my phone and my phone was working fine untill when i tried to flash bootlader for gingerbread i for reason took the usb cable out while it was flashing it now i am stuck on download mode and odin is not able to recognize my device , so basically i cant flash nything now i tried to download samsung drivers many time but no luck
please somebody help me with my phone
hmm.....first of alll WHY DO YOU TAKE IT OUT IT TAKES 6 SECS
anyway did you turn it off.....most likely you will have to do a JTAG reset
yah you half flashed a bootloader? .... the fine print in the bootloader Post is very Clear that it is one of the only true ways to HARD BRICK your vibrant.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117990
close odin reopen and attempt to reconnect and flash your Froyo Bootloader. if that don't work you may want to consider a new phone. there aren't any samsung repair centers here in the usa to my knowledge. and your warranty is far gone. Sorry can't help more then that but Bootloaders aren't to be trifled with. Goodluck.
When u do a gingerbread bootloader the method of download mode is very different then froyo so u will have to look that up but its not holding down +,_ volume its something different for gingerbread. But once u figure that out!
power off phone
pull out battery
GRAB THIS STUFF : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047087
turn on odin
attach phone to pc with usb cable
now while holding down both volume buttons put battery back in.
now you should be in download mode and go back to stock with odin from here!
make sure u put the proper .pit and .pda file in there proper places on odin and ur set to go.
Enjoy and also make sure u have the proper samsung drivers
double post, sorry
DONT TURN THE PHONE OFF, IT WONT COME BACK ON
just keep unplugging and plugging in till it recognises it, try diff usb ports
only way to recovery hard brick is with a jtag, wasnt expensive for me and only took a day but im in the UK
thanks for replying my got turned off when i connect to the charger i get phone exclamation mark and a computer and i was able to get into download mode but my phone is not able to connect to odin
VERY lucky there...next time just don't do that with a 7 second flash.
reinstall the drivers
but i try to do that but it still not connecting my phone
took me 2 hours of trying to get it to connect last time, i was going to give up but tried for a few more min and it got it
late to the game here... can you boot up the phone? I guess not, but if you could, turning off USB debugging, connect to usb, drivers install, then turning debugging back on would have done it i believe.
have you uninstalled, reinstalled the drivers?
have you trid multiple usb ports?
have you removed other usb items and rebooted the pc?
all of these things sound odd but have proven to help.
Possibly i did the most stupid thing in my life.
I accidentaly started to odinflash a p1000 firmware on my s2 i recognized it at the do not turn off sign no process has been done nothing has been flashed i pulled off the cable. And the download mode was still on. I wanted to restart download mode so i used the 3 button combo. The screen went blank and didnt turned on again.
The reason i tried to flash this **** cause i work with phobes and i handle loads of firmware. What can i do? Its not my phone tbh .
Please any idea?

Get a usb jig and try that if you can't get into download mode normally.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
If you can't get into download mode the usual way, jig is maybe a 5% chance of working (I'm probably being generous). JTAG repair - cheaper option or Samsung service center/authorised repairer - probably more expensive option unless they don't notice it's been messed with thru some miracle.
Definitely try a jig tho & while you're waiting for the jig to arrive you might as well put it on charge overnight & leave it alone, then try getting into download mode the usual way again.
if your phone gets detected on system? if so try the following adb command va commandline
"adb reboot download".
Thanks i hope obe of the methods will work. I tought jig is 100% percent stuff you serious i have 5% chane that it will work?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Did you try hooking your phone up to your PC & trying some ADB commands as Bala suggested ?
If you get absolutely no signs of life from the phone at all, it's unlikely the jig will work. But you might as well try one.
when i plug the usb i hear no sound from my pc and i dont know if the phone is turned on or off cause its just blank screen.
in the device manager there is no new device.
i have efs backup
thats all
I think playing around with ADB is going to be a bit difficult to be honest (you'll need to find an ADB tutorial; search for one if you still want to try), so order & jig/wait for it to arrive.
If it doesn't work, either get it JTAG'd or send it in to Samsung.

2.connect usb phone and pc
3.see odin if ID com connected(yellow) you can flash Galaxy S2 rom
no nothing helps
you know when u plug something to yout computouer
you her a little "ding" sound
i dont hear that
how is the usb jig is working anyway?
i think i messed up big this time.
if i plug it in to usb the comp dosnt recognizes it but the phone is getting hot aroundd the camera.
only after 10 minutes of plugged in time.
still no idea ?
the service guy will come to us at wednessday soi just ask him to restore bootloader with jig? or what?
Just wondered if you have tried to boot the phone into recovery mode
Pressing and holding the volume up + home + power
Guess you probably have but its not mentioned anywhere so just a thought becasue you can do a factory reset from there if the phone will boot into it.
nothing helps, tomorrow is the day , i hope we can send it back to samsung to repair it ... or the usb jig thats my last hope.
thanks for the answers.
else i have to pay for a 300 euro phone that i have never used ... /cry
