Hello,
I've searched in this forum for a solution, but without any success.
one need for Galaxy Tab 10.1 an app for data monitoring. All apps in the Android Market don't want to work.
Does anyone have any idea? Is there a functioning app for P7500
Data Counter Widget seems to work fine for me. Also 3G Watchdog, and TrafficCounter are nice.
My data manager!
I've yet to find one that works flawlessly. The ones posted here are decent, but as all do, have their ups and downs.
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.jaqpot.netcounter
I love it, been using it on my HTC Desire for a long time.
all don't count correct!
i don't understant it, why i can not see a counter in android system!
as long as the figure is ballpark there, I don't care how correct is it - I just use it to monitor my data plan, if it's off by a few Mb or MB I really don't care...
3G Watchdog. Does not work? Wrong.
Go to settigs, scroll dont to the last option.

I found NO program yet that worked on the SGT 10.1 . . .
Maybe it's a bug of Android 3.1, or in the Samsung firmware itself . . .
Watchdog count, but i thin it shows MB as KB !!
so, 100 KB are 100 MB
My data manager shows as not compatible with tab 10.1 , and 3g watchdog or other apps like data counter widget doesn't count properly.
Thats a shame ..
Flash pershoots kernel, then the data counters will work.

Has anyone found an app that works and shows the real data used without having toe root or use custom rom?
I prefer to keep the original stock on my tab but would like to monitor my data use.

Has anyone else noticed that data usage on the Xperia x10 is through the roof on Rogers after upgrading to 2.1?
I have a 500MB plan and my Rogers account says that I have now used 884MB.
There is no way I have used that much data.
Nope, all good here on Rogers 2.1.
are you using a 3rd party app to keep an eye on the usage?

Not as of yet. Currently I have shut this phone off and gone back to my crappy Samsung A736. I will wait untill my billing period reverts and fire it back up again for testing. What app is best for data tracking?

I prefer PhoneUsage, and with it you can set daily limits, too
Check over your bill when it comes. I have a buddy with an x10 on Rogers who noticed a charge for something called "zap video". He found he was using between 1.5 GB per month until he unsubscribed from zap video.
I use my phone fairly heavily and usually use around 500 MB each month with my x10 on 2.1 with a lot of widgets that update from the web.

Im on generic 2.1 and have the same problem, some app is chowing my data when im not even using the phone...the only apps i know that can identify which app it is can only work on 2.2 upwards...any app u guys know that can monitor app per app on generic 2.1?
Try using the app, APNdroid, to stop data when not using it. It has a quick on/off toggle widget for the homescreen.

It may be that some apps you use have hidden ads.

I think you are wrong. Droidwall requires iptables firewall to work correctly. You may have had it on your phone, but it wasn't working. Try setting rules and you'll see.

yes i have got that app APNDROID but i dont like to use it coz i use whatsapp which needs my phone to access internet.
The intresting thing is that when i have switched off internet access with the APN app there is a sinc sign on my top toolbar of my phone which means that there is an app continously trying to sync with something, the problem is that i cannot identify witch app it is.
Hey everyone, i'm kinda newbie in this tablet. Do the apps work flawlessly after the root and custom ROM? are they compatible with the 8.9'?
Thank you
Yes, all of them.

data counter widget
hi all,
I'm not sure which thread should I post my problem since its related to apps then I throw my question here.
I have been trying to keep track of my data usage, its seems that all of apps available manage to show only wifi traffic but not 3g traffic. even I tried to used apps that I used to have also not giving any result.
is it because the apps was design for android v2 not v3?
the data usage show extremely low..

3g Watch Do is the perfect solution, & it works good for me...
Def go with "My Data manager" it is the best on the market acurate and has a handy small widget.
I personally use "SPB Wireless Monitor" on my tab and also on my Galaxy S+ and it works perfectly.
I really like the AT&T communication manager app that comes on the 4g version. It tracks usage real time, including tethering, and syncs with the biller every 6 hours. Unfortunately, they will not have a market version until later this year.

Hello all,
Anybody can recommend a good reliable data counter for the droid razr?
With the built-in razr data manager my usage can go up, down, shrink, funny stuff. one morning it can be 17Mb, download some wallpapers, 30mb, and suddenly goes back to 21Mb in the evening...
...while my ISP data counter just keep climbing steadily.
And thanks for flashing my phone with a retail version, one of the useful bloatware from vendor (my rogers account) doesn't work anymore
thanks all!

Same here. Currently trying out Onavo which is free. It has a simpler UI, provides ample information about your usage and is more friendly to regular users.
3G Watchdog Pro on the other hand gives more statistics with graphs and all. But it looks a bit messy comparatively.
thanks guys!
i installed 3G watchdog and onavo.
i like the watchdog becoz i can manually set what i used so far incase i install the app mid-month-cycle, OR if my Rogers stat is different. the widget is also nice, and some says it reads the android data, so its "as accurate as any app can be", but its a really basic basic app otherwise. simple, nice, and basic.
onavo is nice and new, and i really love how it tracks each data and u can set how much ur paying for it, or for overcharge. it can also block each app from using data (wifi only) which is great. but its a fairly new app so i can't say about the accuracy, and there's no way to manually update the quota. sad...
i think im gonna keep both for now.
I've been using an app called LBE Privacy Guard. It is supposed to be an app that is basically a permissions firewall. However it does include a Data Usage bar in the notification tab and features auto reset/tracking by days and separate wifi/3g data usage. Worth a shot if you're still interested.
Cant somebody port the verizon data usage widget from the stock rom???

3g watchdog is the best
mobile counter IMO is the best and free
ok, coming back after a good few weeks:
Onavo is best. it tracks it accurately and faster than Rogers' own tracker.
and a billion times better than the crappy data manager.
it tells (and warns) u which apps is hogging, and can set restriction on use wi-fi only or not.
better than the watchdog for my use.

you check Mobile counter? its very simple but good aplications,
Hello
i am using the amazing CM9+ ICS kernel from NaA.
Here my question:
As you can see on the attached Picture, In six days, since i installed the ROM, the ANDROID OS used 0.95 GB background Data? i don`t know if this is relatet to CM9, but i never had this in any other ROM i flashed before. Do i need to disable any background Service or...?

As it seems, ICS reports most of the stuff to Android OS, for example, I've been playing an MMORPG for around a week, and it shows 186KB usage, same for Opera Mini, whereas Android OS shows 186MB.
OS isn't actually consuming the whole .95GB you speak of, but you are certainly using all that data from other processes.

Whatever it is actually reporting... it seems like you have a problem. Unless using this much mobile data is normal for you. 1Gb is A LOT!
There are other programs out there that will track the usage by application so that you can really see which apps are consuming the data and be able to do something about it. I was using NetQin Mobile Security for awhile, which should do the trick. There are many other data usage specific apps.

Im having the same issue on my Samsung Galaxy S3 running stock ICS. I would really like to know, since I am on a very low data plan. Thanks for any more info.
I just read on another thread that the culprit is the backup/reset option. A lot of ppl say that if you turn this off, Android os background use goes way down. I'll try it and see.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Thanks will try that, I've tracked down it is a matter of large uploads normally 30 to 250 megs that occur in the over night hours (between 1Am and 6AM), but do not know the cause will see if that is it. Also odd that as the phone is connected to a Wifi connection during those hours, so it should not use any mobile data, also as if it is using mobile data when it should be using wifi, will see if I can verify whether this is the case or not tonight.

Hello. I got the same problem on my nexus 4. It`s used over 9GB over 2-3 days. problem began when i flashed on my nexus latest pa gapps.
Maybe that is the problem ?. I used my actual ROM before, and it wasn`t using so much transfer. My actual gapps is called pa_gapps-stock-4.4.2-20140123-signed.zip and i think they causes the problem.
@edit
I did factory reset and install everything as before but i used pa_gapps-stock-4.4.2-20131215-signed.zip.
Everything is ok now so i`m sure problem is in latest pa gapps.
