How can you tell if the update to the rom was sucessful? Is there a different vesion number in the phone? Thanks
It looks different? The internal and external sd cards are switched? Myverizon app is gone? If it said in recovery that the installation is successful, it worked. If it produced an error it didn't. These are all good ways

only reason im asking is I installed .02 with no problems, but was having the rebooting when charging issue. i installed the .02-.03 patch, it said it installed sucsesfully but i was still having the same issue. I'm on .04 now and i am liking it, but i hear a new patch will be released today and wanted to make sure it was actually updated.
Alright well as long as there was no error during the flash its all set. It shouldn't matter if he releases a full rom and not a patch. A full rom can be flashed over anything with the same base, the patches need to be flashed over the correct version.

I had flashed .4 directly over .3 with a couple of wipes in-between and had no issues with the transition. however the rom was a bit slower than .3 imho. i am def going to try to flash to his next version when it comes available since he has mentioned it being a big step forward.

I own a Motorola defy with green lens.
I upgraded to cyanogenmod9 and everything is working super well.
The only one problem is that when I enter to the "manage apps", it shows that in general I have 140mb of internal space, which is impossible, and 100mb of it is already used.
What can I do to return the lost 1.5gb internal space?
please anyone?
Did you try wiping data and cache?
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA
I wiped everything million of times
I also tried a few different versions of the CM9 and CM7, all have the same problem.
Is your phone different version from international one?
I think it is as you said it is with green lens.
If it is the case then your version might have 1.5 GB of disk and international version less
If I am right you can contact a developer of your phone to make a flashable zip for you so that every time you flash a new ROM the partitions can be reconfigured.
It is quite possible that your phone has exact same features as international version but have more ROM size and different partition sizes
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA
how can I check which version do I have?
FYI, I updated my brother's defy too (exactly the same device, off the same company) to the same versions I flashed my own, and at his defy it shows that the internal memory is just fine. about 1400mb in total.
During my experiences with my device, I accidently flashed an un-downgradeable SBF. so to fixed it, I used that special chinese SBF, from which I moved to froyo CEE, and from It I flashed a normal SBF. so, Im pretty sure that it's not about the device itself or the files I am flashing, but that some setting changed during that hole craziness.
p-p-p-problem FIXED!!
damn Im so freakin' happy that I found the right way to fix this!
since the beginning I was absolutly sure that it was the SBF which have done all these problems to me. I know it because when I flashed the special eClair (the jordn_U3_3.97 something), than the missing memory suddenly came back to live. the obvious problem was that... well.. it's a terrible SBF.
after flashing and trying billions of SBFs, just before I gave up and before I paid a developer to do this job, I found this lovely japanease SBF, from which I restored a Froyo CEE, on which I flashed the CyanogenMod 9.

Well I am not the expert but I will toss in my 2 cents. I have activated a Droid x2 (MB870) on Page Plus. I SBFed back to 2.3.4 (1.3.380.MB870.Verizon.en.US; Oct 11, 2011), rooted with auto DX2Batchroot_2013.v2.exe to apply Android JB 4.1.2 CM10-Alpha3 ROM by DZK.
I am very happy with CM10 right now; it works fine on Page Plus. JB 4.1.2 is a BIG improvement over 2.3 Gingerbread. With that said, I will not be trying out other ROMs for the time being, since I need a working phone.
All other ROMs to my knowledge require SBF back to 2.3.4 except Eclipse 2.3 so you might want to try it first if you are already on 2.4.5(418).
Other ROMs to consider:>> wwwDOTdroidxforums.com/forum/droid-x2-roms/
I am satisfied with my Droid x2 since it meets my needs. 1. G3 data to work on PP; 2. Android 4.x after flashing; 3. Great display with guerrilla glass and not too big to fit in my pocket.
Cons are the Nvidia Tegra 2 GPU on it. The Tegra 2 will not be supported anymore so there is no upgrade to 4.4 KK. XBMC v13 will not work on it either. CM10a3 is in Alpha state and further development on it is iffy. Some have said the video does not work well but I have not experience this. There is a slight shutter when selecting videos from the list, but they played well for me.
If you decide to purchase I will be glad to give you tips I compiled since I just did this Mar 2014.

Ok I bought a new " overstock " Droid X2 it should be here next week. What program do I use to flash this phone? I don't understand "SBF"? Thanks for the help.:good:

System Boot File - SBF
SBF is the System Boot File, an image which restores the phone to its factory state. The latest from Motorola is 2.3.5(1.3.418.MB870.Verizon.en.US; May 8,2012) which is Moto’s Droid x2 version of Gingerbread 2.3 and will probably be what is on your phone. All custom ROMs except Eclipse v2.3 use the earlier Moto release 2.3.4 (1.3.380.MB870.Verizon.en.US; Oct 11, 2011).
I’m curious, how much did you pay for your Droid x2? I took a gamble and picked mine up used, but was very pleased with its condition. I am considering picking up another for cheap .
Rooting and installing was not hard but I spent a lot of time researching finding much of the info dated. Droid hacks were pretty popular in the day so there is much content, but it has shortcomings, so many have moved on. For a 3G phone, which is what I needed, I could not find any better one. My CM10 install did hit a bump by continuously installing with an infinite loop on boot; that cost me some time. I think my fix was to wipe my data in addition to cashe; the first couple of tries when I got the loop I just cleared cashe.
There's some really good information on the Droid x2 in this forum and others. RootJunkyDOTcom seems to be up-to-date and gives good step by step instruction so I suggest checking it out. sd_shadow is another good source to Google. I have other links that I would include but since I am newly registered, I can’t until I have at least posts.
Thanks
I paid $74.09 shipped on ebay. Seems like a fair price. Thanks for the info. My phone should be here on Wednesday. I think Ill go with a 4.1.1 rom. Thanks again.

To Merlin11 and dukkha2:
sd_shadow is one of the Titans on the x2 forum. His links are very current and exhaustive. I hope will monitor this thread over the next few weeks as to assist in flashing the x2. I will follow up with my notes on rooting and flashing CM10a3 tomorrow.
To sd_shadow:
I could use advice on a problem I have with BSR. After flashing CM10a3 I have installed the Patched BSR so I can backup my ROM and I try experiment with the softkey zip mod. BSR shows up as "CM7 System" on my apps screen so I know I have the patched version; however, I get a boot loop of the Moto Boot screen anyway. I have tried installing the other ordinary BSR (shows as System Recovery on the apps screen) but this causes the same infinite loop at the Motorola boot screen.
The loop only occurs when I have the usb charger plugged in to my x2 telling me the problem is the BSR. I am able to recover by pulling the battery and rebooting without the charger. I booted into Motorola's Recovery and wiped the data and cashe. This did not solve the loop issue. I was going to try wiping the Dalvik also but I don't know what this is or how to wipe this.
I have seen your CM10 hijack-boot.zip instructions and considered try this fix. I have not loaded this fix yet because when I compared the etc/hijack-boot.zip on my phone with the one in the hijack-boot.zip file they have the same MD5 which implies CM10a3 already has the updated hijack-boot.zip patch.
Any suggestions?

I missed these instruction for how to install the patch when searching; much appreciated. There are many pages in the CM10 thread, I think the link to the Concise patched BSR should be added to the CM10 instructions in #1 as a final step so users can backup with CWM.
Your link to SBF to 2.3.4 would also be a good addition.
Another addition would be a link to re-calibrate the battery stat mine I screwy right now. It shows 100% then drops to fast. I am researching this.
Everything else is working splendid!

dukk, I just redid this whole upgrade in about 30 min so don't fear it. I can't leave url links but if you google or search in xda on the quoted words you should be able to find the links and files. sd_shadow's links above are very good. Also check out wwwDOTrootjunkyDOTcom.
1. downgrade to 2.3.4
-Follow sd_shadow in response #8 and #10 above.
-don't sweat using the latest RSD, 5.4, 5.6, or the latest 5.7 will all do the job. Just make sure you load the USB drivers first and your phone is connecting to your PC
2. root
-I have been using "DX2Batchroot_2013.v2.exe". try Googling it. It will automatically install BSR you need for ROM install.
-There is a video using the file above but it is for 2.3.5. It doesn't matter, the procedure is exactly the same.
3. Download CM10a3, gapps, softkeys, patched BSR apk, and patched hijack-root.zip files and put on your External SDCARD
-CM10a3 rom
-gapps ("gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip")
-optional softkeys (search "CM10DX2-A3-softkeys.zip")
-patched BSR and hijack-root.zip >>> checkout sd_shadows response #10 above (don't install until #5 below)
4. Install the first 3 zip files in #3 using BSR CM10a3 rom ("cm-10-20130113-UNOFFICIAL-daytona"), gapps ("gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip") and optional softkeys (search "CM10DX2-A3-softkeys.zip") but you must load BSR only after you wipe data
-Make sure you follow the instructions.
-You must wipe data AND cashe or it will hang on the start screen.
5. Load patched BSR along with replacing hijack-root.zip in the /etc folder so you can create a Backup using the patched BSR
-This is spelled out in the link in response #10 above
-you will need a Terminal app. There are free ones in Google Play.
-wipe data and cashe again
6. Load optional apps and backup again.
-I have a battery calibration issue. Check out "Battery calibration (New method?)" in wwwDOTdroidxforumsDOTcom for a fix
-There is a fix to Facebook videos in xda x2 forum.
Good Luck! You really can't brick this x2. SBF can recovery any hack you do. I messed up yesterday and replaced the patched BSR in CM10 with the ordinary one. I don't recommend this! It locked me out of my phone and I couldn't recover. I had to re-SBF. I did get to test the backup I created with BSR and it worked well.

MIUI v5 may be an option for JB 4.2.2
I see a new thread for a beta of MIUIv5 coming soon for the DX2. I am willing to try it. I like CM10 but have been experiencing some shortcoming s such as battery indicator, some apps crash, and videos only playing sound or not able to play at all.
looks like it is build with the same source as cm10, so it will have similar problems.

I'm wanting to install [ROM][AOSP]LiquidSmooth-ICS-v1.5-MR3[10/02/2012] But I can't get it or any other rom to install. I'm running ota ics with root and all that good stuff. I don't know all that much about the thunderbolt because I'm always had Motorola and my nexus 7. When I try it just doesn't do anything. Fails. I have been trying for months but have taken a long break from it due to just giving up. But now my phone is trying to push a 20 Mb update that just makes my phone not boot because of my recovery.
which recovery are you running as its known 4ext has issues with ota ICS. also did you check the md5 to make sure they match. it sounds like its not downloading right and your download is getting corrupted.

The problem is that you downloaded the second update that Verizon pushed out. It wasnt very big since it only patched some apps to update them, updated the cdma radio and fixed an hac audio issue people were having problems with. I doubt it will work but try flashing santods ota killer v2 and then clear caches in recovery.

I'm really more worried about installing that liquid smooth rom rather than the annoying update. I just defer it everyday. I have downloaded it SEVERAL SEVERAL times and it always does the same thing. I tried again last night and It made me remember what exactly happens. It does install and boot but I can't get signal at all and then the whole rom just stops working. Doesn't let me do anything. The whole updating applications or something.
I have had many phones and never had as much trouble than this phone is giving me. Every rom that does work when I flash them don't have any wifi or service. Even when I install gapps it is like it skips the setup and goes straight to the home screen.
I just came from a bionic and didn't think it would be much of a change to make this phone run like my bionic did. I have tried recreating rom slots with fresh installs and wipes on several roms, most of them cm10 based and even liquid smooth wont even install which is the rom I love the most. I have looked for several fixes but nothing seems to be working.
Is there something I am missing? Do you have to unlock the bootloader on this thing or something? Any help would be appreciated.

Wifi usually fixes itself after reboot, but for no-service I dont know.. Are you flashing correct version for your Razr (xt910/xt912), or flashing GSM patch if you have xt912 on GSM network?
Not to be redundant, but how ARE you flashing the ROMs? I've never had issues with connections (so long as I am using the applicable google apps, I have had to revert to a release or two earlier for proper operation in the past). I wouldn't recommend flashing ROMs via RSDlite, if that's the route you're taking. BMM and Safestrap (The latter can be achieved with Matt's Utility, it's what I use) are better options. Using a different partition on the internal storage, and retaining Stock rom. I never had any issues with Avatar (CM10.1 based). I'm about to try out AOKP. Good luck.

Well I have been using safestrap since I used it on my Bionic and I am already familiar with it. The one that is bugging me the most is not being able to flash LiquidSmooth 2.9. (I am on SS 3.53 btw) Also I am using the XT912 and already researched the difference between 910 ROMS before flashing.
When I try to install it the error comes up saying:
Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
Warning: no file_contexts
set_perm: some changes found
E: error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard-ext/Liquid-JB-v2.9-OFFICIAL-spyder.zip
Error flashing zip
I just wonder, if that thing is saying that the zip is meant to be an update for an existing version of LiquidSmooth. But on goo.im there is only 2.7, 2.8 and 2.9.
I've never seen that error (but I've been wanting to try LiquidSmooth, maybe I can duplicate the problem). I know with AOKP, I have to install on romslot2. For whatever reason. Have you tried any other slots besides 1?
EDIT
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2222535
The installation instruction for LiquidSmooth 2.9 say to install on RomSlot3, and only RomSlot3. I'll give it a whirl on 1 and see if the error is duplicated, but it shouldn't effect the install, regardless of the slot #.
http://goo.im/devs/liquidsmooth/spyder/Liquid-JB-v2.9-OFFICIAL-spyder.zip
This is the mirror I used to get the ROM.
Installed on Slot 1 without errors. Flashed gapps, wiped cache, restarted- wouldn't boot.
Wiped and deleted Slot 1
Installed on Slot 3 without errors. Flashed gapps, wiped cache, restarted- Success!
I never could duplicate the error you had, using the JB Liquid Smooth I got from goo.im
Also, for what it's worth, in the "Issues" category on the LS link from above, it said there was an autofix that would correct the wifi connectivity problem. Mine would never fully turn on wifi on first boot. Rebooted, worked perfectly. And the CM style setup went off without a hitch.
I also used goo.im to get mine. I tried all three versions of it but no success; all three got the same error code. I am wondering if the version of safestrap I am using is causing the error.

Just threw out the version 3.5x of SS I was using. Going to try 3.11 and see how it goes. Man, I hope this works, I just came back from using an iPhone for the last two months after letting my brother have my Bionic because they couldn't flash the iPhone on his service provider. I guess if it doesn't work I will be happy having android back nonetheless. Just want something other than motoblur.

So I scrapped 3.5x for 3.11 and the install went perfectly normal. Accidentally installed the wrong gapps package and had a force close assault from hell. Redid it with the right gapps and everything is up and running now. I am so glad to have it running and ready to set up now. Thanks for your help guys!
When I last rooted and ROM'd my GN2 it was shortly after the first OTA. I haven't touched it since then since it's been a great phone for me. I have been unhappy now for about a month with the performance and other issues. I have an issue that's requiring me to factory reset and since I will be basically losing everything anyway I want to update to the newest ROM.
Here's where I am now:
Android Version 4.1.1
Baseband Version I605VRALL4
Kernel Version 3.0.31-414933 [email protected] #1
Build Number JRO03C.I605VRALJB
Hardware Version I605.06
This is where I want to be: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2765021
I have the files downloaded and on my SDcard. I have the 4.3 MJ9 firmware ready to be flashed in Odin. But the post says I would only need that if I am coming from 4.1.2 (which I am not) so would that even be needed?
I can't seem to recall how can I tell if my bootloader is unlocked? I used the CASUAL root method originally. I have never had an issue with Root function so I know I am rooted still.
I have the PhilZ/CWM installed as my recovery.
I have a current backup to my sdcard.
Should I just flash as the thread says?
Thanks in advance and I've been at this for 5 hours now and in searching the forums for information about updating from 4.1.1 and there has been none. I've seen the "no posts found" page so many times I could throw my computer! haha!
Hey there,
Yeah you should have an unlocked bootloader since I used casual as well. Flash with Odin the firmware, they mention 4.1.2 because they assume everyone is already on that. You basically need the 4.3 firmware for all the new roms to ensure WiFi works specifically I believe while radios will still work.
So once you Odin you can flash the tw 4.4.2 ROM and expect it all to work. If you have been wanting to try stock aosp 4.4.4 now is a good time, they have gotten very stable since our phone has official cyanogen support.
Good luck
Yeah I followed a post from the thread that was a long process. I flashed 4.1.2 stock. Re-casual rooted. Then flashed 4.3 and the firmware. Then did the 4.4.2 radio and such. It was like a 4 hour process.

Well I had good luck yesterday but now seem to be having issues. And I can't screen shot so I don't know what to do.

Can you describe your issues the best you can?

When I plug in a headset or take out the S pen I get a consistent message about Pagebuddy closing. It won't stop popping up until I put the pen back or unplug the headset. I disabled pagebuddy in the settings hoping that would stop it. I cleared the cache and data from the app and also went into recovery and wiped cache. It was working fine for the first day. Then just started erroring.
Sounds like you have an app installed that's not playing nice. I would use Titanium Backup and freeze all user apps, then unfreeze one at a time to find the culprit

Today it stopped doing it. No messages for a headset plugged in or S-pen removed. I don't know what happened.
