Horrible Quadrant Score? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
I'm using the TSM Resurrection v0.1 ROM released by TeamSBrissen. Running comradesven's kernel he made.
I'm curious as to why my quadrant scores are so horrible. See these screenshots:
(running at overclock 1400mhz. No undervolting)
Any ideas are very much appreciated. I also tried undervolting all steps to -250mv, and my phone did crash, so I'm sure its reporting properly

Have you flashed the adrenaline v7 tweak? Also you might want to try backing down the overclock speed. Start at stock settings and run quadrant after each change, when the score drops, revert back to the last settings.

Quadrant is worthless. If you are personally satisfied with your phone's performance then that's all you need.

this is very true. I dont use it for a peak number, but rather a guage to see if my changes yielded better/worse results.

The worth of the new Atrix OC kernels...

I've been running some really basic tests on the new Roms and kernels that are starting to pop up and I want to know if any of you agree with me on this. While using Cherryblur v1.4d and the stock ATT kernel I can get around 3500 on Quadrant Standard (I know its not the best benchmarking tool out there). Thats on a fresh reboot 2nd run. Then I flashed Faux123 OC, pushed the clock speed to max 1.1 and min 1.1, set on boot, ran the same test. Fresh reboot, 2nd run and got the exact same score...weird. So if this is the case whats the point of the OC? Has anyone else seen similar results? Or is there perhaps something I'm missing?

You are only overclocking by 10%, even if it was 50%, Quadrant is not a cpu benchmark, what will impact it most is the 3D bits and the database tests. Data2Ext on the htc legend will almost double the scores with a fast external sd card used for data.
For these kernels you should be asking yourself, where did the source come from and is it a later version than what is compiled stock, and was it even designed for the Atrix?

Ya...quadrant isn't really designed for CPU but I'm pretty sure it takes it into some type of performance boost. Like on my Nexus the same .1 overclock boosts the Q score a good bit.
Yeah, quadrant scores are sketchy at best.

[Q] Over Clocking Kernels

Samsung Fascinate CDMA
Rooted MIUI 1.9.16
Did a brief search here looking to understand how to operate overclocking kernals, but find it/me relatively limited.
I have installed and ran Glitch v11 and v12, played around with HL to LL, and made adjustments to undervoltage utilizing Pimp My CPU and Voltage Control. I have also ran Tweak (though not really a kernal).
My question is this,
am I overclocking when I reduce voltage on Mhz's above 1,000?
If not, could someone point me to, or explain how to achieve overclocking on our phones, and
which kernel and governor do you prefer for overclocking?
As an ammended note, I've installed Tegrak Overclock, but am still looking for a user guide...

If you're the running the glitch kernel...use voltage control, not tegrak overclock...over clocking is when you turn the CPU speed above its normal speed..anything over 1GHz.
under volting is when you turn down the voltage frequency to achieve better battery life...
Any one clock speed may perform more or less stable with different under volting unfortunately all of our phones will vary in performance so one setting that works for one may not be the best for another so experimentation is really the best option...this applies for schedulers and governors as well.
I personally overclock as high as I can until it freezes or crashes..then I go 1 setting down...I then try undervolting different steps observing the stability of my phone...when I find what I like,I run it for a few days, then if its still nice and stable I will apply on boot.
The different leakage values are affected by the hardware quality of the chips in our phones which also vary..I start with high and see how high I can overclock..note the setting, then try medium..see how high I can overclock and so on...just as a reference..high leakage creates the most heat and is the least efficient, but works for most phones, while low leakage is the most efficient and generates the least heat and will work with not as many phones

How do you over-clock using Glitch and Voltage Control? I see that Voltage Control goes up to 1,300Mhz, but it's at 0 above 1,000Mhz and can be dropped down to -200mV. Is overclocking just the process of decreasing that voltage on Mhz's above 1,000Mhz's

come on man.. Clock speed (mhz) and undervolting are 2 completely different things.. Forget the voltage.. No changing the voltage is NOT overclocking.. You overclock by changing your maximum clock above 1000mhz which is stock for this phone.. Try long pressing 1200mhz and selecting set as max.. Now your overclocked to 1200mhz..

No decreasing the voltage is simply undervolting whether it's over 1000 or under. The idea behind undervolting is increasing battery life, but you can't necessarily go and set each level to the maximum undervolt (200) you half to see what works. Increasing the processor speed is overclocking, stock speed is 1000 so anything over that is over clocked. As far as how far as how far you can over clock depends mostly on 2 things, 1. the kernel your using, ( for example if it shows 1300 in the list that means thats all that specific kernel supports) 2. It varys greatly between phones. For example with glitch you can overclock to 1700 but very few phones can run that high for longer than a few minutes!

Yes.. And the fact you say your running glitch and your max oc is only 1300 my guess is you broke your kernel with tegrak overclocks module.. Delete tegrak and stop downloading overclock apps. or any other root app unless you know fully the consequences first.. If after deleting tegrak, and rebooting, if your voltage control don't show a maximum clock of 1700 mhz, then you will need to reflash your glitch kernel

Yeah, I kind of feel like a heel. For some reason, I had a brain fart when looking in the 'General' section of Voltage Control. I see now how to overclock.

When I flashed MIUI 1.9.16, I did not install any kernel; so it was kind of a half truth in that while running 1.9.9 I did have Glitch installd. Nevertheless, I still have Voltage Control installed.

There are no issues with glitch.. It is what I run.. Very smooth.. Just have to give your phone time to adjust and build cache

Landscape
Re-installed Glitch v12 ML last night and have it overclocked @ 1,200 with no under-voltage...yet. Want to see any adverse effects.
I started at 1,300 and it locked up then rebooted within 5 minutes.
A concern I have is that now my phone will not Auto Rotate to Landscape even though I have Auto-Rotate 'on' in Settings.
I've scoured Sixstrings Glitch thread to no avail. Though it's not needed anymore, I also flashed the cleaning script just to see if it would make a difference.
Is there a work around or fix for this?
Make sure you're on the latest 9/15 version of the kernel. Anything before that will kill all of your phone's sensors.

That was it. I had re-installed the older Glitch v12 that was already on my PC. Deleted them and downloaded the newer Glitch kernels to experiment with.

under volting helps stability.. I use -50 for everything above 1ghz.. Your phone may vary

Yeah, locking and rebooting was while using the older version of Glitch v12. With the 9/15 dated Glitch I'm at 1300 now with the following settings:
Deadline / ondemand
200 - 1300
1300 -25
1200 -25
1000 -50
800 -50
400 -75
200 -75
1.2GHz is the best I say if you want good battery with a higher frequency. 1.4GHz is the best for anyone who uses their phone alot. Samsung did add 1.2GHz overclock in their source.

Back to running MIUI without Glitch.
Things that make you go, Hmmm?
For some reason, every time I accessed the keyboard for Google+, it hung, then froze, and 3 of the four times rebooted. The fourth time I needed to remove the battery to reboot. So I re-flashed MIUI 1.9.16 (effectively removing Glitch) and have 0 problems.
Bummer, I like Glitch too.
I'm in the same boat, however they redone the latest glitch merge and posted it last night so I'm thinking we'll be back in good times

are you using JT's 9/12 kernel?
if so...did you overclock it?
i'm on jt's 9/12 with miui 1.9.16 and wondering if I can / should overclock and undervolt it. I'm just trying to maximize battery life at this point.

You wouldn't want to use my voltages, I put everything way lower than anybody else does or recommends and am just lucky that it is stable for me but it causes the sleep of death for anyone else.
For comparison, just run JT's kernel for a bit and then flash glitch and try it... once you play with OC/UV and voodoo color you won't be able to go back. (you'll be able to but you'd have to be insane.)

I downloaded Antutu Benchmark and got an expected score, but then I checked their leaderboard, I found that my rank is quite less than the people who own the same device. Their scores are in 7000s, while mine is like 6800 neighbourhood.
Is their a way that I can improve the benchmark to that level? By the way, I overclocked it to 1400Mhz using pershoot's kernel and Antutu CPU Master and also modified my sdcard read cache to 4096. I tried googling but dint find any methods. Plus, I also need to improve my GPU performance, just in case.

while taking benchmarks, apart from overclocking to 1.4GHz, you need to ensure that you have the governor set to 'performance' or 'lazy' in setcpu. you also need to kill all background applications that are current running, settings->applications->manage applications->running->kill. this ensures that you get the maximum possible benchmark.
also try RieGo's kernel. its got experimental GPU overclocking

I think Riego's GPU OC kernel is not working .. i think pershoot tried it before already .. he took it out because it doesnt make any difference.

[Q] Low Antutu Benchmark Score with 3.14.12 AOKP KANG Build

So I just flashed the new AOKP build for our Transformer Prime and I've ran the Benchmark test three different times at different times in the day and I can't get above 9650, which is lower than the stock score. Anyone one else having this occur?
I've changed governor in the tests as well from "on demand" to "interactive" to "performance" and one test i even upped the minimum clock freq. to 1200mhz and the max to 1600mhz.
Any suggestions or comments are welcome. Thanks.
leave it on interactive. its the rom causing the low score. try virtuous rom or icilicious rom n I'm sure scores will be higher. I've scores way higher than you on stock rom and 1.6Ghz overclock. even on stock n no overclock I get higher than that. that AOKP rom not fully ready yet. its still an alpha or beta build. so lots of work to make it faster n more optimized still needs to happen.
plus whenever running benchmarks, make sure to clear all background tasks and after a fresh reboot. that'll give best results.
Thanks for your suggestions. I rebooted and closed any open processes and changed governor to "interactive". Got a score of 9556 again.
I think I'll just take your advice and stick with Icylicious or Virtuous. Any recommendations?

Consistantly low benchmark scores. Antutu & Quadrant

Here is my issue, i decided to randomly run quadrant and found out i had bad results.
Around 3000, i had very low memory and i/o scores, memory being 2000 and i/o around 5000. I then flashed speedmod kernel and got even lower results, 2811 quadrant and 1500 memory, which is far from the default expected values. This happened in GB whith checrom V6 and Siyah Kerner, CM9 and SlimICS with both speedmod and fluxx kernel.
Antutu scores are lower then 6000 ranging from 4900 with SlimICS 5400 with GB and 5300 with CM9, i got back to Slim and cleared cache and got 5900, but quandrant still was performing poorly
You shouldn't rely on quadrant scores to decide whether the ROM is good or not, you should make that judgement for yourself. Sometimes, developers of ROMs make tweaks to purposely increase the quadrant scores.

I was just trying to see if there was something wrong with my phone. Not that i would keep the highest numbered ROM. That's why i got worried, the scores were low in almost all of them
Really want to test, flash stock rom and see the numbers flying

you can try using different kernels with different cpu governors to see a difference in benchmarks.

Basic problem is benchmarks vary from one run to another and are not reliable .

Will a higher score change the way you use your phone?
What difference do the scores mean? Does it make your phone unuseable when you get a lower score? What answers are you hoping to get?
Dont use benchmarks....they arent needed, we already know our phone is fast...just use the phone and enjoy it

Its all relative to the rom you're using. CM9 I found scored lower on benchmarks, but on real life usage people report better performance
CM7 scored higher for me then stock based GB roms, quite comfortably. So that was the other way round.
However, WanamLite ICS which im using now scores between 6200 and 6300 for me, highest being 6330.
Again its all very relative to the rom you're using. If you're really that bothered flash a stock based ICS rom, run some benchmarks, see the higher values, get content, then either stick or go back to CM based roms with whatever wisdom you've aquired!
By the way all the above was using Antutu.
